Bueno primero que nada pensaras quien rayos es Greg Zeschuk, Bueno el simplemente es el co-fundador de Bioware y jefe del recién creado, grupo creativo de RPG/MMO de EA, así que simplemente es de los meros chonchos por parte de Bioware y como sabrás ahora parte de EA.

Pero basta de tanto rollo y vamos directo a lo importante en una entrevista que le realizo Joystiq.com, el cual lo primero en preguntarle fue, Dragon Age ha sido el primero juego que desarrollan para la consola de ps3 que nos puedes decir de este proceso a lo que él contesta:

Nos Asociamos con Edge of Reality, de modo que estábamos con persona que han tenido la experiencia y eso fue un proceso bueno ya que ellos sabían como hacerlo y bueno de ahí partimos para trabajar en equipo y así poder explotar todo el de la consola y yo diría que fue muy interesante y estimulante trabajar en otra consola y no solo en PC y Xbox 360.

También comento lo siguiente:

Tenemos a unas cuantas persona trabajando en casa (no se a que se refiera con eso, pero me supongo que se refiere a el desarrollo en la consola ps3 por su propia cuenta y no junto a Edge of Reality), Creemos que es una plataforma clave, así que obviamente estaremos trabajando de forma definitiva con el Ps3. Sabes no puedo decir nada acerca de Mass Effect en ese sentido pero ya sabes, lo puedo decir, Dragon Age y futuros juegos definitivamente llegaran al ps3. Fue genial pasar por la experiencia de hacer Dragon Age, y poder familiarizarse con todo el poder del ps3. Una vez más, cada plataforma es diferente, pero ahora creo que estamos en la posición de que el ps3 será el futuro inminente.

También otra de las preguntas que le hizo joystiq es. ¿Han hablado de Mass Effect para el Ps3? porque eso sería un problema ya que si mass effect será una trilogía ¿cual sería el principio en el ps3?.

Y dijo:

Nosotros no estamos hablando nada acerca de Mass Effect para Ps3, Yo no sé nada de eso! sería una locura hablar de eso, yo no sé nada.

También para finalizar dijo:

Que el desarrollo de Dragon Age para ps3 fue una experiencia tan positiva que utilizaran los recursos internos de ahora en adelante en el desarrollo de la consola.

Mi punto de vista es que esto es algo realmente bueno porque de ahora en adelante todos los nuevos juegos de Bioware estarán en Ps3 y mejor aun si son programados en la consola de Sony y con esto me quedo con la sensación de que pronto se anunciara el tan aclamado Mass Effect para Ps3 ya que Billy pago los millones por un beta que tendrán pronto los usuarios de Xbox 36o, o ustedes que opinan de todo esto que acaba de decir este señor?.

A también quería dejar en claro que todo esto es una traducción oficial por parte de mi y si quieren enterarse de todo solo denle clic en el link.

Andal Ampatuan junior se declara inocente, pero se ha puesto a disposición de las autoridades.

Las fuerzas de seguridad filipinas confirmaron que un miembro prominente del clan sospechado de organizar la masacre política en la isla de Mindanao, que dejó al menos 57 muertos, se encuentra en poder de las autoridades.

Un oficial del ejército filipino indicó que el hombre, alcalde regional y miembro de la poderosa familia Ampatuan, se puso a disposición a pesar de que niega estar involucrado en los asesinatos.

Como explica la corresponsal de la BBC en la región, Rachel Harvey, Andal Ampatuan junior fue trasladado a Manila a bordo de un helicóptero militar, en momentos en que crece la presión sobre el gobierno para que se haga justicia.

Hasta este miércoles las autoridades no habían señalado oficialmente a ningún sospechoso, pero la policía investigaba al clan Ampatuan, que ayudó a asegurar los votos a favor de la actual presidenta Arroyo en elecciones pasadas.

La masacre se produjo el lunes en la zona de Maguindanao, cuando las víctimas -la mayoría mujeres- viajaban para presentar los documentos de la postulación de un político local de oposición, Ismael Mangudadatu, de cara a los comicios de mayo.

Mangudadato, quien no se encontraba en el convoy, acusó a los Ampatuan de estar vinculados a los pistoleros y de haber planeado la emboscada con antelación.

La organización de derechos humanos Human Rights Watch expresó su preocupación sobre la estrecha relación que hay entre el gobierno y los Ampatuan, pues podría dificultar que la investigación sea imparcial.

El gobierno filipino ha declarado luto nacional por las víctimas de Mindanao.

No obstante, la presidenta Arroyo ha prometido en varias oportunidades que se hará justicia.

“Esta no es una simple contienda entre clanes rivales. Esto es un acto inhumano que es una ruina para nuestra nación”, le dijo a una televisión local el portavoz de la presidencia Cerge Remonde.

“La presidenta ha sido muy clara en que aquellas personas responsables, sin importar quienes son, deberían ser presentadas ante la justicia”, agregó el vocero el miércoles.

Varios analistas indican que la familia Ampatuan es la que ha estado a cargo de la provincia Maguindanao durante décadas.

Andal Ampatuan padre fue miembro del Congreso de Filipinas y ganó sin oposición la gobernación de la provincia en varias oportunidades.

Su hijo, Andal Ampatuan junior, tenía planeado ganar la silla de la gobernación de la misma forma que sus padres, hasta que Ismael Mangudadatu decidió lanzarse como candidato.

Al menos otros tres hijos de Ampatuan son alcaldes en Maguindanao. La mayoría de ellos tienen su fuerza de seguridad privada.

I can’t help but to keep thinking of all the religious strife that covers this planet all in the name of the all mighty.

I wonder how anything in this little place can be of any more significance

to that which is everything.

If one proton of one atom in my body has a billion solar systems in it’s being and one place there less than a speck of sand has beings living on it and they are made up of the same thing as I or I am made up of it because the speck and the me are one thing, inseparable except by my casting it out but I am all things so when I cast it out there is no place but back in to me it must go to be mixed again in an ever-changing, roiling mass of energy as known by me but which is unknowable to the speck. The total is me yet the speck is me.

I do not want to kill myself, I only want to let the speck change to my benefit. My purpose is only to be and the only battle should be against that opposite, not to be.

Perhaps Shakey Spear had it more right than is given credit except to be or not to be is not the question, it is the answer.

On this Eve of Black Friday, it turns out that there are people who don’t worship at the altar of the retail gods the day after Thanksgiving.

What I find striking about this article, coming from the Catholic tradition, in which Mass is available every day of the week, is that the Unitarians have to have a special service on Black Friday. They have nothing scheduled otherwise. Apparently they just go to church on Sunday and call it good.

Granted, I live in a historically Catholic area, and there are churches with Mass in the morning, convenient for people before work; but there’s a church three blocks from my workplace with 12:10 Mass every day. And there are several in the area with 5:15 pm daily Mass. Sometimes, like Thanksgiving, the schedule is curtailed, and there’s only one Mass and no Confession.

Tomorrow? Many churches with daily Mass will be on their regular schedule. If not? The Cathedral where I live is on its regular schedule. I bet the Basilica is too. If you need a respite from extreme shopping, there’s a Catholic Church near you with Mass, Confession and Adoration.

Next year’s Catholic Directory for England and Wales arrived in the office today. I eagerly flipped to the section called “Recapitulation of Statistics”. Beneath that rather dull heading are the latest figures for the Catholic Church in England and Wales.

These numbers are interesting and important because the Church in this country isn’t good at gathering statistical information. Outside these pages, with their bland rows of numbers, it is hard to find trustworthy data on the Catholics of England and Wales.

So what do this year’s figures (actually gathered in 2008) tell us? One or two interesting things.

First, there are more than 100 diocesan priests than in the previous year (3,614 compared to 3,506), but 300 fewer religious priests (1,069 to 1,312).

Second, the overall Catholic population is smaller than in the previous year (4,148,783 to 4,156,544), but weekly Mass attendance is higher (918,844 to 915,556).

Third, baptisms and receptions are up (63,533 to 58,991 and 4,378 to 4,239 respectively). But the number of marriages is slightly down (9,932 to 9,950).

All in all, this is pretty encouraging news.

De cand s-a inventat acest program dragut numit Messenger si de cand ne-am emancipat si noi si avem net prin fibra optica, Wireless, etc si nu mai stam sa dam la manivela la Dial-up cum era pe vremuri , toata lumea foloseste internetul pentru a comunica. De la mic la mare , indiferent de varsta , etnie sau credinte internetul ne primeste pe toti cu bratele deschise facandu-ne mai usoara comunicarea.

Dar aici intervin si anumiti factori, spre exemplu conversatiile pot fi urmarite si stocate intr-o baza de date, userele ( id-urile ) pot fi furate impreuna cu parole si altele asemanatoare. Daca pui o poza pe un site fii sigur ca o sa ti-o fure cineva si o va folosi in scopuri mai mult sau mai putin ortodoxe, ca sa nu mai vorbim de faptul ca dam o gramada de bani pe tehnologia numita laptopuri , Iphone-uri, PC-uri, Notebook-uri pe care mai apoi le stricam fiindca luam virusi sau alte traznai de pe net. Evident o alta forma de stres sunt mesajele in masa sau MASS-urile asa cum sunt cunoscute in “argoul” de mess… Aceste mass-uri sunt date de prietenii de prin lista ta sau de cei din lista prietenilor tai si ei le dau mai departe. Nu zic nu!! Ca si eu dau mass-uri , dar numai cand am ceva important de zis. O invitatie la o seara festiva, la un concert, un anunt important, mass-uri de interes general. Dar nu dau mass-uri ca cel pe care l-am primit mai devreme ( si care nu este singurul.. primesc mii de astfel de mass-uri lunar ):

“Fata ii spune unui baiat: “Iti plac?” El a raspuns: “Nu” Ea l-aintrebat: ”Ma gasesti draguta ?” El a raspuns: ”Nu” Ea l-a intrebat: ”Ma aflu in inima ta ?” El a raspuns: ”Nu” Pentru ultima data, ea l-a intrebat: ”Daca plec, vei plange dupa mine ?” El a raspuns: ”Nu” Ea a plecat trista. Si atunci el a prins-o de mana, spunandu-i: ”Eu nu te plac, eu te iubesc. Nu te gasesc draguta, te gasesc superba. Tu nu esti in inima mea, tu esti insasi inima mea. Eu nu voi plange dupa tine daca pleci, eu voi muri dupa tine.” In aceasta seara, la miezul noptii, dragostea ta iti va spune ca te iubeste ! Ceva dragut ti se va intimpla maine intre 13-16 iar daca nu il trimiti la toti din lista ta in decurs de o ora ,vei avea ghinion dar nu si la cel care l-a trimis.”

Sau desigur vestitele mass-uri despre Elodia , boala unei fetite inexistente care iti spune sa trimiti bani la un numar de cont ..date ce nu se pot verifica, alte mass-uri asemanatoare cu cel de sus…

Ceea ce ma distreaza este faptul ca sunt o gramada care dau astfel de mass-uri mai departe. Si cele mai amuzante sunt cele in care spune ” daca nu dai mai departe se va intampla – nu stiu ce – ” . Ma uitam acum doua zile la trailerul unui film numit Chain Letter cu Nikki Reed ( multi probabil o stiti in rolul lui Rosalie Hale Cullen din Twilight Saga ) in rolul principal. Filmul are ca subiect exact acest tip de chain letters sau mass-uri. Un ucigas maniac in serie ii ucidea pe toti cei care refuzau sa dea mai departe  o scrisoare in lant. Amuzant ? Poate .. trist e ca exista astfel de oameni pe acest pamant care chiar iau in serios ceea ce scrie intr-un mass. Un mass poate fi generat de un virus pe care il are o persoana in PC , sau poate fi o gluma , cea scris la plictiseala precum Popescu Lucica sufera de cancer. trimite  -  o suma de bani -  la contul BXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX. Eu nu cred in astfel de mass-uri , si nici nu sfatuiesc pe nimeni sa o faca. Da!! Daca este ceva veridic, ceva ce poate fi verificat, o actiune din partea unei fundatii de binefacere cunoscuta ce poate fi verificata, daca as dispune de bani as trimite. Fiindca imi este mila de cei ce sufera de anumite boli grave si nu au resursele necesare pentru a le combate si ma pun in locul lor. Dar astfel de mesaje fara nici o noima… I’m not stupid…I smell fraud…

Ca sa nu mai vorbim de numerele de telefon date prin mass-uri , schimbul de liste de messenger de te trezesti ca iti da X-ulescu add si tu habar nu ai cine e… si face glume aiurea sau mai stiu eu ce. Sau dai click pe un link ce a venit sub forma de mass si te duce pe un site de unde iei un virus Trojan si cineva iti intra in calculator sau alti virusi similari prin intermediul carora ti se fura fisiere , parole si altele din PC.

Tehnologia ne ajuta sa comunicam, dar in acelasi timp trebuie sa avem grija sa nu fim luati de prosti si bagati in probleme cu virusi , oameni nebuni si altele. De asemenea nu va dati numere de telefon sau date personale prin YM. Pot fi furate si folosite in scopuri deloc ortodoxe.

Cam atat pentru seara asta !

Noapte Buna!

The word “Eucharist” is taken from the Greek to mean “to give thanksgiving.” It is a verb, an action word. Giving thanksgiving to God is perfectly accomplished when we attend Mass and celebrate and/or receive the Eucharist (the real Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ).

Attending Mass on Thanksgiving morning is a perfect way to start the day, and it helps to keep our focus on Christ.

Below is the summary of what I typed in one of my other blogs by the same title as this post:

It seems that every couple months I get the feeling that something is missing. I wonder what it is and then move on. I try blogging; it helps for a bit and then i forget or get too busy with my life: my job and academics.  Any way this blog is going to filled with randoms things I find interesting, important, funny, or overall necessary. Some of it will be based on my life, some of it on my faith, and some of it on the overall state of whatever I chose.

But as another brief overview, I am an Army Brat (PROUD TO BE ONE) and will forever be one. On top of that I am Roman Catholic (again proud to be), spazztic, overall energic, do way too much, sleep way too little, and well….we shall see throughout this journey what I am on any given day.

On June 14, 2009…I sat in Church listening to a homily on the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ, which made sense because that day was the feast of Corpus Christi. The fact that the homily was on that topic nor that it was semi-scolding surprised me; it was the fact that it was the first time that I felt at home at St. William of York in a long long time. Now that feast day was the perfect one to for me to feel welcome home again at because  it was this feast day that came to be because of a doubting Priest. It reminds me that even those in the Holy Orders have doubts…or at least can doubt.

So…I guess this means it is possible to have TWO parish homes…both have amazing communities … one large the other small. As I am active in both, I find myself happy to be have such a welcome home from Our Lord.

On June 20th I blogged about the fact that I had been engaged in amazing conversations with God, which has lead to much but best of all some amazing music, a blog to follow, and a way (or many) to become more spiritual. At mass that day, it was like God was talking straight to me through Father D. The homily was a mix of things but one thing really stuck me: No is an acceptable answer. Fr. D. was talking about No as an answer to a prayer but it applies to commitments and life in general.

Accepting and Saying No are both things I am having trouble with.  Accepting no from a person is hard but even harder is accepting NO or simply no answer at all from the Heavenly father. During that summer (2009), I was very busy with summer courses’ homework, Girl Scouts, and life in general. I experienced the need to say no; a lesson that i am not sure I will ever truly comprehend but hey, one just needs to keep trying.

A story from our recent travels in Sicily…

It is Saturday evening after a long hard day of picking.  We have agreed to go to Mass with Eleonora in Vallelunga.  We arrive just before it officially starts and as the congregation is going through the Rosary.  I am out of underwear, clean underwear, and we were running late leaving for Mass, having just come in from the olives.  So I am a “free man” as we say!  We walk into the small chapel along the narrow street next to the square.  It is standing room only!  Laura, Ellie’s sister, Mama and Chris have managed to save a couple of seats so Ellie and Libby take those toward the front.  I stand at the back and continue to move around out of people’s way as they enter.  My hands are in my pockets, I think.  I notice an old nun—a real mother superior—to my right and she looks at me, kind of up and down.  I just figure she too senses that I’m an outsider and she is just giving me the Sicilian stare down.  Then, she motions with her finger towards me or the door—I can’t tell which.  She motions up and down, and I think I am blocking the door or she wants me to find a seat.  I look at the door—a two way door—and I help the next Nonna through.  I look back at the Nun and she has given up trying to communicate to me whatever it was. 

People continue to come in and stand where there is almost no room to stand.  So I step outside and give up my standing place to one of the believers.  She is gracious and smiles.  The chapel is filled with almost no youth.  I walk to the square and sit on a bench and watch the living and think about the dead as tonight is Hallows Eve and Monday is the Italian Memorial Day or Day of the Dead. 

Men pace back and forth across the piazza talking politics and other things as they smoke and use their hands as part of their speech, as all Italians do.  My hemorrhoids are really inflamed so the bench is nice.  Little girls all in witch’s hats Trick-or-Treat the small shops along the square and light firecrackers as they go.  The air is cool and suddenly a breeze comes off of the hills and across the square, and I really feel it at my skin now!  I mean, I suddenly realize what the kind old nun was trying to tell me as I sit with my zipper fly undone on a bench in Vallelunga Sicily.

“You think he’ll be here?” I asked my wife, turning into the parking lot.

She glanced slowly, giving me the look, which was a final reminder of where we were going. And I remembered – always did. But there was nothing I could do about the eager anticipation of getting another glimpse. I mean, it was a 1-in-5 shot every time, depending on which mass he chose, so it’s not as if I ran past the deafening bell tower just to get inside to take a look around.

“No, not here,” I whispered, ushering her strategically to another pew. “This one’s better.”

She rolled her eyes one last time before granting forgiveness in the one place it was mandatory to do so. If he remained consistent, he’d coolly duck in a few minutes before the opening procession – very comparable to his legendary two-minute heroics – maybe to lessen any unwanted attention. I still didn’t place much stock in an appearance, since the percentages were against me.

Then, he just suddenly materialized…on the opposite end of where I’d seen him last.

“There he is,” I mumbled, as my wife followed my eyes across the church. “He must change it up from time to time. So nobody gets wise.”

“I doubt there’s that much planning involved,” she said from the side of her mouth, leafing through the hymnal.

There was always a surreal feel to it, though logically I couldn’t think of where else God’s Quarterback would be on a Sunday. Nobody paid him homage or anything, though most in attendance had to feel just a hint of sacred nostalgia. My wife liked to give subtle reminders that there was a mass going on.

“What’s he doing now?” she whispered just after the homily.

“He’s sitting there – watching, I think.” I turned to take in her knowing smirk at the absurdity of my answer.

“Maybe he’s saying a Hail Mary.”

“Highly possible. His get answered, we know that.”

“You had your moment, remember?”

Indeed I had, one that I related from time to time, possibly just to verify its authenticity. My brother and I had just finished a game at the Dallas Hoop-it-Up, and headed up the stairs at Dick’s Last Resort for a bite. My eyes were lowered so as not to miss a step in the midst of the crowded lines moving in and out of the place. But I was startled when I bumped shoulders with someone on his way out, and when I looked up I was staring face-to-face with Roger Staubach. I had hit – no matter how innocently – the elusive Dodger, who was far and away the only athlete I had placed on my mental mantel.

With everything to say and no time to do it, it was I who was scrambling, trying to come up with anything vital, and knowing the moment that would never happen was suddenly upon me.

“S-sorry,” I uttered, as he kept me from falling over.

“It’s ok,” he smiled.

And that was it. He disappeared into the downtown humanity, and I was left trying to convince my brother, who had already gone in, that I had laid a lick on Captain Comeback.

“Wow,” my wife deadpanned silently. “He takes communion, too.”

“Oh, you noticed that.”

I didn’t follow his every move during the service; there was hardly any play-by-play to sitting, standing and kneeling. Maybe all I wanted was to magically turn around at the sign of peace, only to be surprised that the odds were finally in my favor, and he had taken the seat behind me. I certainly didn’t want an autograph, as I’d never put much value on something as informal as a signature. There has never been anything in my makeup that would allow me to bludgeon some athlete with a paper and pen, only to become a statistical member of the group known as fanatics.

But then, why did I care if he was in attendance?

I wasn’t the only one, of course. My wife was patient with me on our exit, knowing I jealously glanced at the few people talking to him after mass. They probably actually knew him, spinning yarns about kids or anything void of “remember whens” or two-minute warnings.

“What will you talk about – if you’re ever given the chance?” My wife asked, getting into the car.

“I don’t know. Maybe how my mom considered him her other husband. That might break the ice.”

“Every mom in this city considered him that. I thought you didn’t want to crush him with things he’s already heard.”

“Probably best that I don’t bump into him,” I said. “Maybe this is enough.”

“That you go to church with Captain America?”

“Wow,” I said, gazing through the windshield. “I guess I do. Let’s call Mom.”

Pentru fete: Crezi ca ai vre-un pulete in lista care asteapta cu nerabdare sa-ti schimbi tu avatarul sa-si mai adauge o poza la categoria ” Material pentru laba “ ? ( ce prost exemplu am dat :| … normal ca ai ) ) .

p.s:Daca se poate , schimb-o de 2-3 ori pe zi … nu prea mai am loc pe hard-disk , ok , pussy ? Pardon , pisi !

Stau pe messenger linistit , intra cineva pe mine si imi scrie “ Ceau,  cf  ? “ , si , vazand ca nu raspund in mai putin de 6,9 secunde , imi da buzz :| . Apoi ii zic “ Ceau , bine , tu ? “ .Imi raspunde “ Bine “ si peste alte 6,9 secunde imi da iar buzz . Il intreb “Ce-i”?Imi raspunde “ Ah , nimic , scuze .” . Probabil au trecut 6,9 secunde de cand a cautat un alt contact si a vrut sa-i dea buzz , dar eram eu selectat . Cred ca sunt “ THE CHOSEN ONE !!!”

Sa mori tu ?! Trebuie sa-ti fie foarte trista viata intrucat pentru a “ realiza cineva ca te iubeste “trebuie sa-i f*ti pe altii la cap cu massuri din astea . Vreau ca atunci cand dau massul , se se considere ca am realizat ca te-as “iubi” in gura !!!

Multumesc pe aceasta cale tuturor care trimit mass-uri idioate. Datorita voua am trecut prin multe clipe minunate, cum ar fi: 1. Am citit de 874 de ori ca voi fi sters cu cont cu tot de pe yahoo. 2. Am cam 34.000 de ani plini de ghinion in fata mea si am murit deja de 6.764 de ori pt ca nu am dat toate mass-urile mai departe. 4. Sunt blestemat sa nu gasesc adevarata dragoste pt ca nu am dat restart la calc, nu m-am dat de 3 ori peste cap si nu am apasat shift de 99 de ori ! Da si tu mai departe daca esti in campania anti mass-uri cretine si imbecile…

Ok , sustin campania anti-mass-uri cretine si imbecile trimitand un mass cretin si imbecil. Ii bine ? BOULE/VITO !!!

6.Limbajul ( 8-| ) .

I’ve been rocking the sketch scene with pen and paper lately, there has been this idea on my mind that I want to try but not so sure if it will be successful.
The idea titled “Creatures of Mass Destruction” should give some clues. There has been several ideas sketched out, so I’m hoping that everything will just piece together when all ideas are on paper or maybe in digital form.

This idea is pretty much inspired by the BBC Life program which is awesome! Well worth checking out! It does show that there are impressive creatures out there even if you didn’t know of there existence.

The method was to sketch each area on paper then convert that to a digital illustration and then finally combine all those individual illustrations into one massive piece of work.

Success or failure? I don’t know, but one thing that I know is that I want to give this idea a try, so must get working on it. Some pictures will be posted at some point, keep checking and keep rocking!

I went to Mass last night at 5:30 by myself. Now that I think about it, I think it’s the first time I’ve ever been by myself. I enjoyed it, though… just me and God. And all the middle school kids who just got out of CCD.

They’re important to this post, though, and here’s why: our priest (the one marrying us, also the pastor of the parish) was giving Mass, and tailored the Homily to his audience. The readings were about Christ as King, and he wanted to make sure everyone understood the concept of kings in general.

He started out by talking about how he went to the movies on Monday. This immediately got my attention, since I guess I never pictured my sixty-something-year-old priest hanging out at Hollywood Hits. He went to see 2012, based on recommendations of his religious ed. classes. The kids were concerned, asking him how God could love us if He plans to destroy the world in a couple of years. I don’t think he exactly answered the question, but that’s beside the point, because he kept talking…

…and started talking about New Moon. I don’t think I’ve mentioned it here, but I’m a Twilight fan. Yep, I was one of the girls (and upped the average age by about 8-10 years) at the midnight showing Thursday. Anywho, yes, my priest started talking about the Twilight saga.

He mentioned that there were vampires (and werewolves!) in the story, and Bella (a human, and mortal) fell in love with Edward (a vampire, and immortal), and they often discussed her mortality and how she would continue to age and die someday, but he never would. He mentioned that Edward thought Bella died, so he went to Italy to talk to the Volturi, who operate as the kings of the vampires, and they have the means to destroy misbehaving vampires.

I think at this point, my jaw was on the floor and I was really trying not to laugh, listening to my priest talk about Edward and Bella’s love and how Edward couldn’t imagine a world without Bella in it, so he went to sacrifice himself for her. Our priest went on to draw the parallel that Jesus loved us so much that He sacrificed Himself for *all* of us.

I was really impressed that a sixty-something priest put the effort into his Homily so that he knew his young audience would understand and hang on every word. It certainly got my attention!

Oh, and the topper was that he also knew Robert Pattinson played Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter. Being a HUGE HP fan (moreso than Twilight), I was super-happy for the shout-out.

25,000 Catholic young people from all over the United States met in Kansas City, Kansas from November 19-21, 2009, for the National Catholic Youth Conference. A group of about 30 were there from St. Mary’s Parish in Colts Neck, NJ.

I think I was the oldest youth at the conference, which is an offshoot of the world youth days begun under Pope John Paul II. It was a lively, spirited event, combining traditional Catholic things, like preaching,sacraments and devotions with modern technology the young use to communicate today. I missed a day because I visited one of our priests who lived nearby, but I was impressed by what I saw.

A workshop for parents by Chris Weber explaining how young people use technology today–Twitter, text messaging, Facebook, Internet– was especially helpful.

If you want to communicate with your kids, he said, get to know as much as you can about the new media. True, also, for priests and others who want to communicate with the next generation.

He recommended a book by Joseph Allen and Claudia Worrell Allen entitled Escaping the Endless Adolescence, (Random House, October, 2009).

He quoted someone saying that adolescents inhabit a subterranean world where adults are unwelcome. All you can do is sit at the top of the stairs and wait for them to talk to you as they go down or come up.

The best speakers at the event, in my opinion, were some teenagers who spoke to the young people at Sprint Center on Saturday morning about their own spiritual searching in simple fresh words.  Is God sending young people to speak to that subterranean world?

Bishops and priests were there, but the main speakers for many of the events were laypeople. Maybe that says something too about who is going to speak to the next generation.

Honestly, some of the music was hard on my ears, but if these young people are the face of the future, I have hope for the days ahead.
