We’re suckers for a happy ending – especially when it involves cars, kids, and hot pizza. Recall, if you will, this past summer when John Schnatter, founder of Papa John’s Pizza, was on a nationwide quest to find his beloved 1971 1/2 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 – a car he sold in the mid-Eighties to fund his first store. John found his car in Kentucky, paid out more than a quarter of a million dollars in finder’s fees, and then generously gave free pizzas from its 2,600 nationwide locations to all Camaro owners on August 26th.

Still feeling more than a bit elated with the return of his Z28, and intent on providing hope and inspiration to less fortunate children, Schnatter has now created a nifty little 1:64 scale diecast replica of his car. The metal cars sell for $4.99 apiece and each one comes with a coupon for a free medium cheese pizza ($1 from each car purchased will be donated to the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation). In addition to selling the cars online, Papa John’s is donating 5,000 mini Camaros directly to Toys for Tots. All told, Papa John’s is contributing more than $155,000 to the Marine program and touching countless lives in the process. Go ahead and order a couple… we did. LOUISVILLE, Ky. (November 16, 2009) – Earlier this year, “Papa” John Schnatter set out on a cross-country Road Trip to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of Papa John’s Pizza…and to search for the car that started it all: a 1971 Z28 Camaro that Schnatter sold to keep his dad’s tavern in business and ultimately open his first Papa John’s restaurant. He even offered a $250,000 reward for the car’s safe return. To everyone’s surprise (especially Schnatter’s), the beloved Camaro was found in Flatwoods, Ky. in August.

Beginning today, pizza and car lovers alike may purchase a mini replica of Schnatter’s Camaro for just $4.99 at www.papajohns.com. For every mini Camaro sold, $1 will be donated to the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, just in time for the holidays. In addition, every toy’s packaging includes a coupon for a free medium cheese pizza – making it the gift that keeps on giving, long after the holiday leftovers are gone!

Papa John’s is also donating 5,000 mini Camaros directly to Toys for Tots – a retail value of $25,000, and $50,000 in redeemable free pizzas. In total, Papa John’s will contribute more than $155,000 to the 2009 Toys for Tots campaign.

O carro conceito apresentado pela Ford em 2004, foi baseado no original Shelby Cobra desenvolvido em 1964.

O chassi foi fundamentado no Ford GT, com poucas modificações.

Seu motor é V10 capaz de produzir 605 cavalos e torque de 5.500 rpm, sendo um dos mais poderosos motores já construídos pela Ford.

E segundo a Ford ele é capaz de chegar aos 298 km/h, porém é limitado eletronicamente em 160 km/h.

Tem quem não goste de ter carros conceito em sua coleção, mas podemos dizer que Shelby Cobra é uma exceção.

Hoje vou mostrar duas marcas de miniaturas que tem o Ford Shelby Cobra Concept em sua linha.

Since cooking at home more during the week {read:  every night}, date night seems a little less necessary.  Every day I find myself anxious to get through the rest of the work day, my run and the commute to be at home with my husband, yakking about the day, preparing a meal to share and then eating it.

With that said, we both recognize that getting out and spending some QT together is absolutely necessary.  Hence we took ourselves downtown to my favorite museum, which recently reopened and went on a tour, like tourists!

MB played a part as an Escalefter as we made our way up to the National Mall.

And then we were there — this picture is SOOO necessary.

Once safely inside the beautifully redone museum, we high tailed it to the things high on my list to see:

I was so excited to see Julia’s Kitchen!

Though I had to wonder if homegirl really had a KitchenAid mixer {one of the sponsors of the exhibit}

MB loved it!  The exhibit was PACKED and the sites we saw were rich with foodie related memorabilia {Julia was a self-proclaimed gadget fanatic!}, videos of the main lady herself and other cool things like the Childs’ wine list from their cellar in Paris.  So fab.

Then we headed to the science section {duh} where they had a lengthy exhibit about the history of the Birth Control Pill.

I found the exhibit completely random and fascinating.  I love that oral contraception has liberated so many women and watching the socio-political evolution of the Pill in America and how INVOLVED the Catholic Church was in the whole situation is really interesting. 

Then we had a snack.

Then we saw Washington depicted as God.  MB LOVES talking about the deification of George Washington.  You should email him and ask him about it stat.

My favo exhibits are always about the Presidents and First Lady’s.   The First Lady portion had a line so we went with the big guys and their White House things left behind.  There was even a mini exhibit about weddings at the White House.

Then finally we saw Dorothy’s shoes!

I was SOOOO EXCITED.  I had never seen them before!!

And then we were spent.  But Saturdays is always Salad Day {as I have to weigh in at WW the next morning} so we walked to Chinatown for our favo Salads in the district — Matchbox Salads!

The simple salad for me.

And the tuna salad for MB.

It’s definitely a splurge but we were really excited to spend the day together for Date Night.  Afterwards I was telling people how much I enjoy spending time with my husband.  This is probably a good sign!
