Happy/Merry Xmas ‘09

I woke up Xmas morning to find that Santa stopped by my house. He brought all kids of goodies, a big Mac, a little Mac, Mater, Lighting McQueen, Doc, dino friends and lots of presents to unwrap. I was pretty good at ripping all the paper and digging for stuff! I also got a sleeping bag train style for my new special school. Can’t wait to go there next week!

Xmas day was wild! Everyone was here, check out all the pics. My house was covered in toys, loved playing with all my friends, Nate, Sol, Violet, Brookie, Hunter and met Avery. The parents seemed to have fun as well, enjoying lots of good food and drinks. The day after we left for Vermont. I was supposed to ski with Violet but I chickened out…that white stuff is slippery! Mami and Daddio managed to pull me around for a little bit but for now I think I will stick to safer, in-door sports…

Xmas celebrations started with Paige and Neve visiting. We had pizza, exchanged treats, ran wild and played trains. They got me my first Lighting McQueen, fun! Xmas Eve was an adventure. It all started with Buni and Bunu taking me to see 101 Dalmations The Musical in Boston. When I got to their house, Santa also stopped there and got me the coolest toy / my own DJ table. If Mami never got to be a DJ maybe I will someday! Also got some cool/comfi clothes and more cars. That evening following tradition we went to Soleil’s house. Always have fun times with her!

Santa & friends were really good to me, I must have been a good boy! I hear he doesn’t come for another year, and even though I am not sure what a year is, it feels like it’s going to be a long time…I hope he doesn’t forget about me!

Perfectly timed right before Christmas, Target put out a few of its TARGET EXCLUSIVE releases. I was able to get a few extras for my overseas and Up North Canadian buds.

TEAM OCTANE GAIN HAULER ,PITTY AND RACER SET

The CARS TOON line is still bubbling along with new 4 packs from the Mater The Greater Short with Aviator Mater, Props McGee, and several other characters from that short in 4 pack and single packaging. The most recent to show up around here is the Soaked McQueen Character from the Rescue Mater short. Although it being a “new” character from the movie it hardly looks ANY different from the Burnt Lightning McQueen with the exceptions of the water drop tampos on the hood and front fender.

These new hauler were popping up here and there before Christmas and now have seemed to stop trickling out. Reports have been heard of these being surpassed and the Mood Springs Hauler is showing. This CARS line is ERUPTING even past Christmas with tons of newer released showing up all over the United States and Overseas daily.

The last few weeks has been crazy for ANY retail store browsing, however I found this Snow Day Sally at Toys R Us and thought it to be pretty nifty. At first glance I thought the dome surrounding the car was an actual globe you hang on the tree, but after further inspection I realized the only thing that you can hang on the tree is a cardboard insert inside the packaging. mehh

• You probably shouldn’t be doing this while under the influence of cold medication.
• Oh well.
• You’re too excited about your new look.
• If people are reading this through their reader, they can’t see your new look.
• They should go directly to your blog to check it out.
• Send Winn a thank you note for your new look.
• Or an autographed picture of Michael Vartan.
• Having a new look on the blog is kind of like wearing a new pair of panties, or a new bra.
• It doesn’t matter what else is going on, you still feel kind of special.
• So even if your writing is kind of the equivalent to going out in a t-shirt and sweatpants, it’s all good.
• Until the new wears off and the elastic in the new panties gets kind of stretchy.
• But a new banner will not stretch! 
• A new banner will not fade!
• Again, you should probably not do this while under the influence of cold medication.
• Nor while National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation is on.
• Now might be a great time to watch those Pixar shorts again though.
• Of course, you may also have nightmares about the baby in Tin Toy.
• Apparently you aren’t the only one who feels this way.
• It’s been connected to a hypothesis, because other people thought it was creepy.
• Well, they said there were “negative audience reactions.”
• To you, that means somewhere someone else had nightmares about the creepy baby.
• Ooh.  Like that one on Ally McBeal.
• You’re sure to have sweet dreams tonight.  Good job.
• Oh well.
• It’s time to go to bed.

Disney has Re- Released CARS on Blu Ray now with added content, 4 discs (one Blu Ray Disk,One DVD disk, 1 With Exclusive content , and one for a digital copy download), As well as 2 exclusive diecast cast CARS exclusive to this BLU RAY release. You get a Gold Cruisin McQueen and a Ransburg Rescue Squad Mater.

And the little story behind them from the back of the packaging:

Target has gained some more exclusive packaging for the Piston Cup Racers. There are 3 newer 4 packs out. One includes Fiber Fuel and Spare Mint, another has Trunk Fresh and View Zeen, and another I can’t remember the assortment. In these newer 4 packs will be integrated “Lenticular” CARS as you will se in the 2nd 4 pack. a nice tough for those that hadn’t caught these in the singles market or packaged launchers. I think the window box packaging really makes these sets.

The Lenticular set:

The Disney Store has continued their 1:43 scale CARS 2 packs with the newest edition of CARS TOON vehicles. These 2 packs do not light up however they look terrific in their window box packaging. The newest offerings include El Materdor, Mater The Greater, Missile McQueen, and El Materdor’s sidekick McQueen. Detailing is done very well as you can see in the pictures.

While browsing on the net I came across these Yujin Japanese capsule toys. All the piece come separated as you have to put them together from the 4 sections of Mack’s trailer,to the wheels as well as the decals for the small cars. It took a little patience to get everything put on and together but it came out alright.

Each compartment of Mack’s trailer comes with a thin plastic piece that acts as a launcher when you insert it into the rear of each car. You pinch the end and the car zooms straight ahead.

With Christmas quickly approaching Disney/Pixar along with Mattel have got their Christmas CARS release out and about at Toys R Us, Disney Stores and at Target. The Holiday CARS include Snow Day Sally, Holiday Spirit Sheriff, Holiday Hot Shot Lightning McQueen, Decked Out Doc Hudson, and Christmas Crusier Ramone. Target secured a 6 pack box set of all the above CARS but the 6th is the DEAL BREAKER MUST HAVE! (REINDEER MATER) Reindeer Mater is Jacked up on real rubber snow tires accented with snow and dons a cool antler tipped snow hat. A+++ creativity from the Disney CARS team at Mattel. The singles are good but the Box set is better! I will let the pictures do the talking!

I got Snow Day Sally in single form for my daughter since opening the set at the moment isn’t going to happen.

They could have packaged this as a single and shipped 20 cases to each store and I am willing to wager they would sell out in hours!

The Berenstain Bears’ and the Trouble with Chores by Stan and Jan Berenstain

The only problem?  When Sister Bear points to a dog mess on the rug, and says, “I know it’s my week to clean up Little Lady’s calling cards.  It’s just that I’m waiting for them to dry.  They’ll be easier to scoop that way.”  Grodie-to-the-max.

Christmas Angel by Quinlan B. Lee

Clifford the Big Red Dog is a puppy and learns about Christmas.  Miss Q is up for Clifford any time of the year.

Grover, Messenger of Love by Patricia Thackray

Grover does tasks for star-crossed lovers.  Unlike Romeo and Juliet, this one has a happy ending; though poor Grover is put through the ringer.  Smooch to Grover.

Cars: A Day at the Races by Frank Berrios

Lightning McQueen returns to Radiator Springs and starts up a racing school.  No mention of his girlfriend Sally – did they break up?  Best part about the book is getting to say, “Ka-chow!”

Cars: Night Vision by Dennis “Rocket” Shealy

Lightning, Mater and Sherif meet Gudmund and learn how to spelunk.  Wish I had night-vision goggles.

The Berenstain Bears’ and the Week at Grandma’s by Stan and Jan Berenstain

This book actually helped me feel better about leaving Miss Q, on the rare occasions we have to have someone watch her.  (Another topic for another entry.)  Not sure I was the target audience when Stan and Jan wrote the book.

Let’s just say, having Brother and Papa leave the house to make Brother a new bed; and returning to find a new baby sister, wasn’t exactly what we were looking for in baby-prep books.  But Miss Q enjoys it.

Amazing Airplanes by Tony Mitton and Ant Parker

Fantastic.  Miss Q adores airplanes.  It explains matter-of-factly about them, but in a nice cartoonish, easy to read style.  Two thumbs up from everybody in our household.
Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day by Judith Viorst

A classic.  Love it.  Miss Q loves it too – especially when Alexander says he’s going to Australia.  She often beats me to the punch.

Hugs and Kisses by Christophe Loupy

A cute story about a puppy who wanders around asking different animals to kiss him.  In the end, he realizes his mama’s kiss is the best.  Miss Q could have told him that; spared him kissing a pig.

This was an average day’s read.  We’ve never pushed reading on her, she just genuinely loves having stories read to her.  There are so many stories I can’t wait for her to discover, and one day, too soon, she will.

The newest release of Storyteller singles have been popping up at stores across the United States. I was able tyo grab a set of the show girls Laverne,Rhonda, and Sheila as well as the cousins Cletus,Buford and Jud. Nice looking cars and kind of cool since they are something away from the norm. I am still patiently waiting the 3 pack versions to see the offerings.

The flurry of Disney CARS Lenticular assortments Case D and Case E have been hitting various areas in various stores across the United States and Europe. The Case D contents have the the usual Lenticular “My Eyes Move” card back but with Case E that changes. The Case E card backs are now in the Final Lap Motif as well a HUGE change in the eyes. Instead of blinking or winking motions. These new “eyes” are ones that “follow” you. They are actually 2 sets of eyes hidden with the lenticular slides in the windshield. However some are very poorly done where you can actually see 3 to 4 eyes at a given angle. Pretty Freaky! I grabbed all the newer stuff including the chases (King with Piston Cup and Ransberg Darrell Cartrip) The Ransberg chase is pretty weak in my opinion. It is about as exciting and any of the “chase packaging” releases. But you can be the judge of that.

A lot of new product is SWIRLING around from store to store. You can find the goods from the most obvious stores as well as the obscure. In the last week or so I have come across a VAST amount of new release items as well as items that have ben out but just have now hit this area.It has been a very expensive mont6h already!

I’m watching Cars. Good movie. Lightning McQueen is racing for the Piston Cup. He’s now got the cars from Radiator Springs supporting him from the sidelines, so he’s happy and he’ll probably win. McQueen is a cool last name.

I’m only writing this out of boredom. I have nothing to do. I’m watching my niece tonight. She’s sleeping now. Which is nice. I’ll probably end up watching Starsky and Hutch after this. Haven’t seen it before.

Oh no, Lighting McQueen has a flat tyre! Oh it’s Ok. It’s pumped up again.
Ohhhhhh, wait I remember how this movie ends! Moral win for Lightning McQueen, awwww.
