To stay trim, Jennifer follows the 40:30:30 diet method. The diet consists of:

-Tofu, fish, chicken, turkey, beef and low fat dairy products

30% essential fats

-nuts and seeds, fish and olive oils

It is essential that every meal should contain macronutrients to attain the balance of hormones and maximum weight loss.

2. Kate Hudson

The gorgeous daughter of actress Goldie Hawn gained 60 pounds during her pregnancy, which she needed to shed quickly before commencing on her next film. From her previous eating plan, she switched to a higher protein diet. She consumed high protein meals in smaller portions, and she combined this diet with an exercise program that includes weight training and cardiovascular workouts. After getting a lot of flak because of her post-pregnancy figure, Kate removed all that baby weight in only four months and has gained abdominal muscles that gained the envy of many in Hollywood.

3. Oprah Winfrey

As one of the most successful talk-show hosts in the world, there is no question that Oprah needs to maintain her physical appearance for her millions of audiences. Known as one of those celebrities who are constantly battling weight gain, she has recently toned up her figure and has never looked figure in age 50 by combining a regular exercise regime and diet plan. Oprah works out five days a week, spending 30 minutes on the treadmill and doing free weights. Her eating plan consists of legumes, fish, nuts, fruits and vegetables, chicken and dairy products that are low fat. She limits her consumption of white sugar and flour. Oprah also credits her trim figure to her habit of not eating anything after seven in the evening.

4. Gwyneth Paltrow

A lot of people may find it hard to believe that the perpetually slim Academy award-winning actress actually needs to diet. Gwyneth actually follows a healthy eating plan that resembles Oprah’s, avoiding sugar and white flour. She usually follows a macrobiotic diet, eating foods like vegetables, brown rice, and lean meat. She also eliminated dairy from her diet, and does yoga everyday.

5. Madonna

The pop star known as the Material Girl has always flaunted a body that is to die for, and has become a true fitness paragon over the years. She keeps herself in tip-top shape by having Ashtanga Yoga, and follows a strict diet that mostly shuns junk foods. She adopted a macrobiotic eating plan that includes organic foods rich in lean protein.

6. Claudia Schiffer

The bodacious German supermodel eats salad and steamed vegetables for dinner and eats only fruits before the afternoon. While on locations, she prefers to eat black grapes and drinks tomato juice and herbal tea.

7. Christie Brinkley

Long-time supermodel maintains her all-American good looks by being a vegetarian. She does not keep junk foods of any kind inside her home to make sure that she does not eat them when cravings occur. She snacks on sweet potatoes in place of candy bars, and she adopts a liquid juice diet when she needs to slim down fast.

Celebrities are just like ordinary people. They need to maintain their figures just like anyone else, and there is more pressure on their part since they are constantly in the public eye. Ordinary folks can have celebrity-like bodies, too, and by following these diet and fitness plans, they can also look like red-carpet worthy.

Du coup, j’ai répété le protocole tout le week-end pour être au point dès le lundi matin suivant alors qu’il fait encore nuit dehors.

En travaillant mon teint sans ajouter de maquillage supplémentaire (car je ne me maquille que très rarement le week-end) j’ai tout de suite vu mon visage transfiguré avec un teint sublimé et respirant la santé en plein hiver.

There is a general consensus that the time for frolicking in underwear and leotards for Miss Madonna Louise Ciccone has long since passed her by. Yet still she insists on videos and photo shoots that are likely to terrify her children in years to come. Admittedly, she still looks remarkably good for her age but as soon as people start telling you this, it is probably time to put the thongs away.

Lest we forget, it is worth noting that Madonna’s primary source of business is supposed to be her music. Her latest offering, Hard Candy, is an upbeat and fun-filled bubble of a ‘pop/rnb/hip-hop/whatever happens to be in vogue – no pun intended’ album. While it panders shamelessly to a mainstream audience with all the subtlety of one of those men wearing cardboard Pizza Hut adverts in Oxford Street, the album is easy enough on the ear and represents a decent enough addition to Madge’s behemoth of a discography.

Yes, the arrangements feel more formulaic than an episode of Scooby Doo and yes the collaborations involve bling laden rap acts serving as introducers to a highly lucrative market. And indeed, it all feels a little like production by numbers and as contrived as the Beckham-Cruise celebrity friendship, but surely this sort of music should be about having a good time rather than lyrical musings and philosophical interludes? If you want to get down and boogie or have some tracks blaring out of your car speakers with your windows down on one of the two days there will be sun this year, you could do worse than Hard Candy. Of course I won’t be doing that because I’d be eaten alive.

Don’t even let the fact that the album’s first single is more than a little reminiscent of an infamous So Solid Crew track. And don’t even be put off by Timbaland doing his customary big man rapper shtick of saying absolutely nothing of any tangible relevance (usually four or five words, repeat as necessary) in brief cameo appearances designed to remind you that you’re hearing ‘urban’ music here and that makes it cool by definition. From the understated gem of an appearance on Timberlake’s Cry Me A River that gave us ‘the damage is done so I’ll guess I’ll be leaving’, we now get the carefully chosen ‘I’m out of time and all I got is four minutes’, interspersed with the occasional ‘hey’. The guy would be truly outstanding on Twitter.

We could nit-pick and dare to actually ask why Madonna and co only have four minutes to do whatever it is they are doing/have to do, or perhaps we could grow tiresome of this idea being sold to us by Kanye and Madge that the beat is indeed going on, and on, and on. We could even suggest that the album is totally uninspired and lacks personality. Then we could add yet more fuel to this critical fire by noting that Madonna used to innovate and now has decided that it is far easier to make mass produced ‘down with the kids’ records with no substance than it is to strive for artistic acclaim. But to do any of the above is to probably miss the point. Bland and poorly written some of the songs may be, this album is about having some fun; there isn’t enough of it in the music industry these days. This is as close as the Material Girl gets to a ‘popcorn’ album so we can probably allow her the indulgence this time. But when the time comes for her next outing, I wouldn’t think twice about advising the queen of pop that she might want to at least think about keeping her clothes on.

Howdy one and all – hope you’re all keeping well?

All good here with the Billy Coleman experience, I’m busy dusting off various pieces of equipment that haven’t seen much use in the last few months, but pretty soon, I’m going to be back making some new tunes. Oh yes. And I’m looking forward to it too…

In the meantime, things have been fairly slathered with graaaavy in a pretty good way with the new ep and ‘Welcome to the Breakdown’. I’m doing another few radio things over the next few weeks, but it seemed to react well to being Ian Dempseys ‘Song of the Week’ there last week, even though some listeners thought it sounded like Madonnas ‘Material Girl’.

“everyday do work”.

With my swanky new bit of carbon arriving tomorrow, it’s got me thinking about accessories. When you I make a purchase as expensive as a new road bike, you’re I’m bound to make additional purchases to either look the part or enhance comfort, or both. At least that’s the story I’m sticking to. Padded lycra, gloves, shoes, spokey dokeys (although I’m told they don’t make them to fit road bike spokes… boo) are all on the new bike aficionado’s menu. Even the old bike seat gets a look in because, let’s face it, there’s nothing worse than hurty Lady Bits after a long pounding on the road. Or something.

What I’ve found intriguing about the whole process, however, is how, er, sexually inclined some of the women’s bike saddles appear to be. Now I’ve seen those split male bike seats before (my ex was very protective of his Man Bits and absolutely loved the fact that his nuts didn’t hurt after a long day on the bike), but until now I didn’t realise that there were so many female equivalents.

The process of shopping for a Lady Bits friendly bike sddle reminds me of the SATC episode , where the following conversation took place between Samantha and an electronics salesman:

“I’d like to return this vibrator…”

“We don’t sell vibrators.”

“Yes you do. I bought it here six months ago.”

“That’s not a vibrator. It’s a neck massager.”

CJ and I have been having way too much fun looking at all the bike seats and deciding which one I should purchase. Our criteria generally extends to what I’ll call “enjoyment versatility” and sheer shock and awe value.

Here are some of the saddles we’ve discussed at length (indeed!) so far:

As you can see, there are a wide variety of women’s bike saddles from which we ladeez can choose. It’s just a pity that I can’t try all of them them before I buy one… Cough.

Get your minds out of the gutter, people. We’re talking serious cycling equipment here. Or seriously talking about cycling equipment. Or something

I’ve always said that for me, it’s all about portraiture. It’s time to bring’er back.

I almost forgot how much fun it is to draw like this.  It still blows my mind how a simple line change can transform something from totally wrong and cartoonish to realistic and right on the mark. Just a simple line!!! Blows my mind that it can be so simple. Just one of the many things that makes me love to draw.

Et je me suis rétamée comme une grosse patate douce.

Ah oui mais fallait me prévenir qu’il faut être une queen du marouflage ongulaire pour poser ce bidule ?

Pourtant ça a l’air si simple tout ça.

Facile à dire hein.

J’ai bien sélectionné comme il faut.

J’ai bien décollé comme il faut (ou presque).

Et c’est quand il a fallu appliquer que ça a commencé à merder sévère.

Il est certain que je suis par nature du genre à souffrir de légers problèmes moteurs dès qu’il s’agit de coller quelque chose, d’autant plus quand il faut être précis.

C’est simple, le jour où j’ai décidé que ma CB serait plus fun si je lui mettais un adhésif rose girly dessus, t’inquiètes que c’est pas moi qui l’ai posé l’adhésif. Dans la mesure où tu n’as droit qu’à un essai et que si tu te plantes, ta CB risque de rester bloquée dans une fente de distributeur, la tremblade m’a soudainement prise et j’ai sous-traité le collage à quelqu’un de moins émotif et plus patient que moi.

Alors niveau vernis adhésif, autant dire que l’application m’a pris autant de temps que si j’avais posé du vernis à l’ancienne (=base+2 couches de vernis+topcoat), génial ! Heureusement qu’au moins j’ai gagné du temps sur le séchage vu qu’il n’y en a pas avec les stickers…

Résultat ?

Ah non mais, n’y pense même pas, hors de question que je te montre une photo du carnage verniesque.

Déjà que j’ai passé une journée d’enfer les doigts recroquevillés à essayer de cacher les quelques ongles au vernis cloqué et bullé (par manque de marouflage), puis au fur et à mesure de la journée, j’ai dû cacher ceux qui commençaient à s’écailler (logique, mauvaise application = tenue plus qu’éphémère), dès que je suis rentrée le soir, la première chose que j’ai faite, c’est enlever tout ce massacre d’un coup de dissolvant rageur (j’ai beaucoup de mal à supporter le vernis écaillé, limite ça me fout de l’urticaire).

Normalement, si tu n’es pas une handicapée du stickage, tu devrais pouvoir les utiliser sans problème.

Et si tu les appliques correctement, cela devrait tenir 4 à 5 jours ce qui est relativement correct pour du vernis je trouve.

Oui je sais, ça fait beaucoup de si, mais désolée, pour moi, ça a été un échec total (voire un calvaire manucuresque, même que j’étais ravie de retrouver dès le lendemain mes pots de vernis pour une application traditionnelle).

Tonight’s post is in honor of girlfriends. Here’s to the ladies who are supportive, give us perspective, and make us laugh. I intend to have some quality time with one of my close ladyfriends this weekend. Kristen and I are gonna boycott New Moon and catch a matinee showing of Precious instead.

So, when we think about Cyndi Lauper’s “Time After Time” in conjunction with Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion, the daffy blonde buddy comedy starring actresses who went to Harvard and Vassar, most people are probably imagining this scene.

Admittedly I find this scene, wherein the nerdy millionaire Sandy Frink (played by Alan Cumming) finally gets his high school crush Michele Weinberger (played by Lisa Kudrow) to dance with him at their ten-year reunion, to be silly and charming. And I also appreciate that Michelle won’t dance without her BFF and roomie Romy White (played by Mira Sorvino). But there’s a bit of heterosexual recouperation in this configuration. While the boy has to share the girl with another girl, he still gets the girl. If only Janeane Garofalo’s outcast Heather Mooney got to dance with them instead. She’s clearly my favorite character.

Man, I never thought I’d argue that a romantic assemblage that involved Alan Cumming resulted in heterosexual recouperation. The proudly bisexual actor seems to delight in queering everything around him. I am usually delighted as well.

But I’m referring to this scene.

Apart from the obvious, at-times hilarious age disparity between the thirtysomething actors and the teenaged versions of their characters, I find this scene to be really sweet and moving. For me it captures how hard it is to be the weird girl and how sometimes having a like-minded ally is as essential as air or water. Also, I think it’s hella queer, even if lesbianism is something the girls claim to have ruled out (at least if they’re still single at 30). To review.

1. Rather than match their corsages with some dudes’ cumberbands, they chose to go as each other’s dates and have coordinated their outfits accordingly. In doing so, they are announcing themselves as a pair instead of as two high school girls who couldn’t get boys to take them to the prom.
2. Just as they served as each other’s date, I have no reason to believe that they didn’t make the outfits themselves. It is well-established that Romy and Michele make their own clothes, eventually opening their own boutique at the end of the movie (with, ugh, Sandy’s money).
3. Romy and Michelle are both dressed as Madonna. Romy is representing the Material Girl’s be-Gaultier‘ed Blonde Ambition period and Michelle staying true to her early Boy Toy heyday. Each girl is an individual, but complements the other.
4. By aligning themselves with the Material Girl, they are connecting themselves to girl fandom and gay iconography.
5. By dancing to Cyndi Lauper’s “Time After Time,” they link up with another 80s pop star with a memorable look, a notable girl fan base, and a big LGBTQI following.
6. And by accepting Michelle’s offer to dance after being stood up by her lunkhead crush Billy Christiansen, I think it’s pretty clear who Romy really loves.

So with all this running injury nonsense hanging over my head at the moment I’ve suddenly become a huge fan of swimming. This is very interesting to me and all those who’ve known me since Ye Olden Days because I can’t float. As a child I spent all my energy propelling myself to the top of the water for breath, almost choking every stroke and looking like I was reenacting a badly choreographed movie drowning scene. I think my school record for 50m freestyle is something revolting, like, 52 seconds.

Fortunately, however, I can now swim a bit. Thanks to Teh Runnang, my Rock Hard Abs ™ (“oh wait until you have children”, I hear them scream) seem to keep me a bit more level and I’m able to propel myself along the top of the water for the first time ever. And as a result, to everyone’s amusement, today I managed to easily swim/bob up and down the lane for 1200 metres in one go. Noice. Did I mention that I’ve entered an Olympic distance triathlon (Mooloolaba, March 2010)? Probably another good reason to get on the swimming bandwagon.

So with all this swimming I’m becoming quite the regular at the local swimming complex. For those of you not from Australia, my humble (*cough*) state of Queensland tends to produce and import some Kick Arse Swimmers. And by that I mean many legendary Olympians and world record holders. Mind you, this isn’t so good for me because this means most other people at the local Olympic pool pass me and must wonder if I’m actually a corpse just bobbing along until I hit the end of the lane. Then off I bob in the other direction until I hit the other end of the lane. And so on and so forth.

Anyhow, after today’s round of bobbing up and down the lane while getting passed and kicked in the head by four year old brats in flippers by future Olympians, my friend and flatmate CJ and I dodged the naked women in the showers (ew) and went and purchased me some brand new togs. The lady at the counter was causing a ruckus with another customer. They seemed to be very familiar with one another, or, more to the point, the lady at the counter seemed to be sucking up to this woman who was simply trying to buy a twenty entry pass for one of her spawn.

“I don’t know why you’re paying to come here. I should be paying you!”

“That’s silly. I’ll just get the pass.”

“Seriously. You should have free entry to EVERY POOL IN THE WORLD!”

The poor customer was really embarrassed by this stage.

At this point, I laughed.

“She’s laughing at you!”, said the pool lady (who clearly didn’t realise I was actually laughing at her and the fact that her nose was turning more brown with every word), who turns to look at me and says, “Don’t you know who she is?”

“Um. You look familiar… But I don’t.”

“She’s Tracy Caulkins! She won three Olympic Gold Medals! She is one of the greatest swimmers of all time!”

“Oh, and I got a husband out of those Olympics,” she said in a faded Nashville accent.

“Well I suppose the husband is the most important thing,” I said.

Tracy laughed.

“Which games?” I asked.

“1984.*

“Oh! Los Angeles!”

“You must be a sports historian!”

At this point CJ piped up. “Actually she IS a historian!”

“Wow!” said Tracey.

“But not a sports historian. US history though. And I do have a friend at the University of Toronto who is a sports historian.”

So the conversation continued. I bought my new pair of togs and congratulated Tracy on snagging a husband at the Olympics. I left poor Tracy to deal with the overly effusive pool operator…

What a bizarre but totally awesome encounter. I’ll probably see her there again since she’s apparently a local and is there all the time.

Not to mention the second really famous person I’ve spoken to in a day. The other one being this guy, who is I hung out with last night (not an exaggeration)… But that’s a story outside of the scope of Running Budgie

From Pure Style Home, a kitchen renovation that features a chalkboard-painted refrigerator! How genius is that?!? Reminders, important dates, little love notes — easy peasy. So much more attractive than your usual cluttered fridge, and so much cheaper than a beautiful stainless-steel one. I love seeing how people work with what they’ve got!

A seriously pretty wall-calendar from SusyJack, $34. I think this would go just beautifully in my office, even though we all know wall calendars like this are completely useless!

Raining Men Umbrella from CheekyUmbrellas.com, 44 CAD. It says “When does it start raining men?” on the inside. I don’t need to explain why this is awesome.

“What to Eat” pad from Knock Knock, $7.50. My friends Mary and Phil have this, and I just love it. How useful! How clever! Honestly, pretty much everything is awesome at Knock Knock (I have the Things You Do That Really Piss Me Off pad — a gift from a coworker — that cracks me up), so you should check it out.
