Hey there! Hopefully everyone is doing well and enjoying summer. Things here in the studio are warming up despite our recent cool & wet weather. Child portraits are still in full swing and the phone is ringing off the hook for High School Senior portraits. We love this time of year!

….we have taken more photos of Kamryn! We had a few great ideas but she was having an ‘off’ day No matter, we still captured some great portraits! 

Every year our yard starts out as a field of dandelions. It only lasts for a few weeks so we let the grass (aka dandelions) get really long so we could use them for her portraits. In this process we learned a few things that we can’t wait to try next year. Enjoy the photos!

We also want to share a few recent (and favorite) newborn portraits. This session was fantastic and we captured so many moments that we just love. Hope you enjoy!

Hello everyone! I hope this finds you happy and doing well Things around here are great and looking better than ever. Tanja and Kamryn finally (!) get back in town today. It’s been a long 3 weeks. 

Last week I received a call from someone asking to see more maternity portraits here. Well, ask and you shall receive! I had the pleasure of photographing this lovely Mom-to-be the other day. Actually, as of 2 days ago, she is a Mom! Congratulations Lisa! We took these portraits just in time. Lisa is a sure natural in front of the camera and we took some amazing portraits. Here are just a few of many.

Hey fellow Blog readers! We’re back this week with more portraits to share. More friends, new stories and great photos. Hopefully everyone is making it through the last bit of winter ok. Tanja and I are really anxious to get outside this year. The recent warm temperatures have  seriously given us spring fever. Yesterday my parents were talking about how it has been raining for 4 days (in North Carolina). While that seems like a bummer to them I can’t wait to smell rain and fresh cut grass! Not to mention filling the vegetable gardens and flower gardens. Fresh peas! Beets! Carrots and potatoes! Whew, ok, back to work Enjoy the portraits and we look forward to seeing everyone again soon!

Hello and welcome to 2009! We hope everyone had a safe and Happy New Year. Things around here are going well and we are gearing up for another fantastic year. As always we are working on new things for 2009. Some new ideas, new programs, new props, more colors….you name it, we’re considering it We are also proud to announce that we were published in the December 2008 issue of ‘Studio Photography’. The editor caught wind of our Gift Registry Program and asked us to write an article for the marketing section of their magazine! Some images of the magazine are below but you can find the article on their website here .

I can’t believe how fast this year has gone. Last year at this time Tanja was pregnant and we were wondering how our life would change after the baby was born. Now, she is about to have her first birthday (12.31.08). It has been one heck of a year. A lot of work, a little traveling, a tiny bit of stress and tons of fun! Every day brings something new these days. Small words, new sounds, funny antics and precious smiles. We thought the first time she crawled across the floor was amazing. Now she’s walking like a champ and giving us a run for our money! Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings…..

No matter how many photos we take of her it always feels like we should take more. A few of our favorites from this past year are below. Please feel free to let us know what you think……as long as you say nice things ))

We started a series comparing body parts to fruits and veggies. It was really fun (and funny) but we never finished. A few favorites though….

Somehow Kamryn has acquired a huge collection of hats. We thought it would be cool to capture her in each one! Well, we have dozens of portraits with different hats. It’s better than shoes I guess. I imagine that will come later though

I believe this day was one of her first experiences in grass and bare feet. She hated it! Although she didn’t think it was much fun Tanja and I got a good laugh.

We had some really great clients bring this old navy chest/foot locker in to use in their portraits. They were kind enough to let us borrow it for a few days so we could use in in Kamryn’s photos. We love this series.

Our most recent photos. These last few were all taken the week of December 2008. She’s really starting to take a liking to the camera. We can’t wait to see her with her first birthday cake in 2 weeks! Those photos will definitely make it up here. 

Last but not least…..Tanja, Kamryn and I. As it turns out it is tough setting the timer on the camera, running around to get in the photo, look perfect, smile and get an 11 month old to look straight ahead and smile. Anyway, this is what we got. They say, even doctors need to go to the doctor. Maybe we need to go to a photographer

Hey there! I know it’s been awhile since our last post. I could give you the “things have been busy” speech but you may be expecting that Instead, I will tell you that we have been having a blast creating portraits for many happy people! 

Tanja and I are planning to take some new portraits of Kamryn tomorrow so hopefully we will get some new stuff of her up here soon. She has changed so much since most of you have seen her last. We’re not sure what’s bigger…..her desire to not sleep or her attitude when she doesn’t get her way! The 3 of us are having fun figuring it out though  

The photos below are from numerous portrait sessions (obviously!). I just wanted to share some new things with you while we are working through the season. There will certainly be more to follow before the end of the year. We wish everyone a safe and happy holiday season.

Hi there! Like most of you we are not only busy with work but we are busy winterizing our home and vehicles, cutting wood, raking leaves, harvesting the garden, managing a home life and trying to stay sane with our early snow fall. There is so much to do this time of year it’s hard to manage it all. The good news is that we are still able to provide you with amazing and unique portraits! I know the leaves are gone (except from our yard…which still needs raked!), the temperature is cooling and the season is passing but there are still wonderful portrait opportunities lurking.

Happy August! I have been processing portraits all night and have so many I would love to share with you. I decided to show you a bunch of different portraits in one post this time. There are almost 2 dozen Frozen Image Photography Original portraits here! After this coming weekend I can show you some of our recent bridal portraits. I just have to wait until the wedding is past so the groom doesn’t see his bride in her dress Our next couple weeks are full of High School Senior portraits and I’m certain I will be posting more here. Check back soon for more updates.

We photographed this young adorable girl last week also. While she has nothing to do with the family above I really wanted to show you this new Composite. We have really put a lot of work into creating our composites and everyone seems to enjoy them as much as we do!

I was just finishing up some invoices and came across photos of little Thomas that I just had to share. We have seen him 3 times and once when his Mom was still pregnant! He’s pretty comfortable in front of the camera as you can see. We look forward to seeing you again soon Thomas!

Hey there! I don’t want to jinks us but I think Spring is here! After a few unexpected snow falls the past few weeks we thought warm weather was never coming. We can finally see the ground! Between studio work and wanting to be outside I had to force myself to sit behind the computer and post a new Blog.

This past Friday we had the pleasure of photographing the annual Father Daughter Ball put on by the local Armed Forces YMCA. We were there to do couples portraits of everyone attending and did we ever! 91 couples in 2.5 hours. It was a whirlwind for us but everyone seemed to have a great time. It was really nice to see so many men in uniform with their little princess on their arm for a night of fun. The Armed Forces YMCA did a fantastic job coordinating and running the whole night. To give you a better idea of what we do take a look…..

On to more recent studio things….

A few of our most recent maternity portraits (that I just love!) are below. This was a really fun session with a great couple. We can’t wait for the baby to be born so we can have them back here

Believe it or not this was taken a few weeks ago here at the studio. The first few times we get outside each year seems to always be with kids.  

This little guy is a true ham! I think he loves the camera. He is more reserved with his smiles but always seems to enjoy his time here.

We were waiting until she was able to sit up on her own but with all the requests we felt the need to capture something sooner. Now, I know what you’re thinking……where’s Tanja? We had another fantastic experience at the Women’s Affair this past weekend. 2008 was the first time they had a Friday night opening with wine tasting. From what I could tell everyone had a great time! There was an incredible attendance on Saturday. I think the weather helped out a bit. Snow in April doesn’t leave many options for things to do. Sunday turned out to be well worth our while too. There wasn’t a single slow point for us. It was an amazing turn out all weekend. The best part for us is being able to meet so many new people. Hearing everyones comments about our work is certainly a bonus! Of course, in true “Chris Smith” fashion I was able to end the weekend with a flat tire on the way home from the show! We needed one more challenge to round out our weekend  

I really appreciate all of our friends stopping by to say Hello. I have to admit though….I think Kamryn stole the show and was the biggest attraction for many of you! Rightfully so! I want to thank everyone for coming out and visiting us. We truly enjoy seeing and talking to everyone. 

We also had a drawing this weekend to win a Free Portrait Session. We drew two names. One at the end of Saturday and one at the end of Sunday. The lucky winners this year are:

Well, I promised you more photos and here they are! We had another fantastic portrait session today with Jeff, Liz and their son Remy. What a blast. Kudos to Jeff and Liz for going above the call of duty with their singing, dancing, and goofy noises to get expressions from Remy.

We also want to thank Remy for being so thoughtful. He brought our daughter Kamryn a new pair of Vans shoes and a knit hat. She immediately put them on and loves them! As a matter of fact she asked us if she could sleep in them tonight!

As it turns out Remy is a chef in the making. Armed with only his chef hat, rolling pin, and stainless pot he soon began working up one of his specialties…..I forget what it’s called but I know it has something to do with adorable!

He was stunned that Mom could just walk up and take his rolling pin!

Just like any great chef Remy knows you must season then re-season…..how’s it taste Remy?

A nice hot bath after a long day sure hits the spot. Don’t forget to wash behind your ears Remy!
