Max Biaggi menjadi pembalap tercepat dalam uji coba WSBK di Valencia kemarin. Pembalap Aprilia ini menghabiskan 55 putaran dengan catatan waktu tercepat 1.33”8. Di tempat kedua terdapat Leon haslam dengan catatan waktu tercepat 1.34”0.

Pembalap Yamaha, Cal Cruthlow berada di posisi ketiga dengan catatan waktu 1′34.1. Sementara rekan setimnya, James Toseland berada di tempat kelima dengan catatan waktu tercepat 1.34.3. Sementara diantara mereka terdapat pembalap ten Kate Honda, Jonathan Rea.

This year will be a great year to watch racing!! It is BMW & Aprilia’s first year running in WSBK. Max Biaggi & Shinya Nakano from Moto GP will be racing with Aprilia and Ruben Xaus and Troy Corser under BMW. All 4 of these racers are veterans in motorcycle racing. Ben Spies, the AMA Champion will be racing under Yamaha with their new 2009 YZF-R1.

Alstare Suzuki’s Max Neukirchner set the fastest time in Australia at Phillip Island’s World Superbike tests, matching Max Biaggi’s quickest lap from Wednesday.

The German set a 1′33.5s time, which was two-tenths faster than Xerox Ducati’s Michel Fabrizio. Yukio Kagayama was third with Ten Kate Honda’s Jonathan Rea leading the British charge in fourth. Both Fabrizio and team-mate Noriyuki Haga had minor crashes (click here).

Rea’s team-mate Carlos Checa had a big get off and was taken to hospital for checks as he didn’t recall anything about the accident. He is said to be ok but won’t know until tomorrow if he is allowed back on track.

Yamaha’s Tom Sykes was fifth fastest, just ahead team-mate and reigning AMA Superbike Champion Ben Spies. Neither rider have been to Phillip Island before are spending time getting to know the circuit before putting in some fast laps.

Troy Corser was fastest of the BMWs, just over a second slower than Neukirchner’s time.

A Aprilia encerrou sua participação nos testes de Philip Island e pelas declarações dadas pelos membros da equipe nos diversos veículos europeus poderemos esperar que Biaggi e Nakano estejam em bom nível já primeira prova do campeonato (1º de março) neste mesmo circuito.

Max Biaggi após os testes demonstrou contentamento com a evolução da equipe durante a pré-temporada. Disse o italiano:

“Finalizados todos os testes possíveis, testamos todos os materiais a disposição. Desta forma sabemos mais precisamente como intervir. Sem dúvida melhoramos em relação aos testes de Portimão e por isto estou obviamente feliz”

Também, fez elogios ao seu pessoal: “Foram sensacionais os técnicos da Aprilia em acertar as coisas em tão pouco tempo. Falei com o engenheiro Dall`Igna, ele sabe das coisas que eu o Nakano precisamos. Tenho confiança porque nosso entrosamento é ótimo e esperamos em breve trazer bons resultados. Todos trabalharam duro e continuaremos assim com certeza”
