As always, Shiran keeps me giggling and in awe at the amazing unique outfits she finds for her events!  This one is one of my fav’s!  The outfit ” Irish Beer” is created by Fairyzette Sahara.  Shiran told me she purchased it at Les Sucreries de Fairy.  She is quite ravishing in the Madrid Solo makeup and hair by Hazzard!  (NOW I know where to get that stuff as well!)

I have much respect and admiration for all creators and designers in Second Life and will keep you informed as much as I can regarding their items I post here.  Feel free to contact me via note card in world if this interests you.

Our lovely Argus continues to dance the night away as usual while entertaining the guests at Two Moons Paradise.  You can always find her near the stage and eager to answer questions!

Everyone loves Max!  He extends so much to our hearts AND ears as he entertains the patrons weekly at Two Moons!   I enjoy watching the COW TIP….TIP….TIP….TIP – yes the COW TIPS! LOL

So I’ve apparently been living under a rock to miss both this Jason Mraz song and a Zaara dress.  Anyway, the dress comes in two different versions, the one shown above with the cutouts showing skin and another with another layer of contrasting material underneath.  Both are fabulous and I had a hard time trying to choose which to wear for the picture.

As you can see, I’m still playing with the SL shadows.  Practice, practice, practice.  Right?

UK Northener Blindboy Gumbo started his SL music career mostly doing covers with the odd original thrown in for good measure, but with regular shows and audience feedback he found SL live music to be more than just doing covers for fun, and it became an outlet for his real talent, performing his original music and playing some serious slide guitar! 

01pm SLT – POL Arida

POL Arida is a solo artist working from Edinburgh, Scotland. Words are POL’s real passion and each of his original songs presents his own unique perspective of life in this world we live in. 

02pm SLT – Savannah Coronet

‘I am influenced in my Singing by many different genres. My passion is country music. Singing has taken me in many different directions including small musicals, theatrical roles, honors chorus, talent shows and karaoke shows. I have won contests and I was also a singer in a garage band for a few years. Now I am living out my dream here in Second Life!’ 

03pm SLT – Freestar Tammas

Freestar Tammas, or “Free” as she is known to most, has streamed live in SL since May ’07. Her singing/songwriting style developed while listening to Bonnie Raitt and classic Elton John/Bernie Taupin (pre-1976), resulting in her own bluesy, sassy, soulful style. Quirky, irreverent and often a bit naughty, she is an original personality playing original acoustic tunes, making the few covers she performs completely her own. 

04pm SLT – Allister Westland

Allister has been writing and performing music for over 20 years. He is self taught in guitar, bass, percussion and keyboards. He is also Conservatory trained in Clarinet and has won several awards for his playing abilities. Allister has performed and recorded with many bands throughout the years and has solid stage and recording studio experience. 

05pm SLT – Lighthouse Mixmaster

Joel Harlan, aka Lighthouse Mixmaster, has been playing professionally, both live and session work, for many years. While living in Texas, Joel has jammed with Ted Nugent, Jimmy Wallace & Bugs Henderson. He has also shared the stage with many artists including Tracy Byrd, Black Oak Arkansas, Three Dog Night and many more. Joel has been playing guitar ever since 1976. He attended Southwest Guitar Conservatory in 1985 where he studied with Jackie King and Herb Ellis. 

06pm SLT – Rapture Damone

One woman and six strings equals pure pleasure. Rapture delivers an eclectic mix of covers that provide pleasure regardless of your music of choice! She pulls out new material constantly and delivers it with talent and enthusiasm… always interacting with her audience to deliver what they ask for! 

07pm SLT – Sojurn Rossini

Sojurn Rossini has been rocking the SL music scene for a few years now. He plays regular gigs at several different hot spots around the grid. Sojurn has an  eclectic array of influences and cover tunes ranging from Bob Marley to James Taylor, to more recent artist like Pearl Jam, Incubus, Three doors down, Jack Johnson and more. If you are looking for a whole lotta soul packed into one man’s performance, this is the guy to see! 

08pm SLT – Maximillion Kleene

If music feeds the soul, Maximillion Kleene is the food of the gods. His dynamic musical range and smooth groove provide many a listener with a virtual buffet of auditory temptations. Max brings high energy and a vast repertoire of quirky, classic, and current covers to Second Life. Oozing charisma and charm, he provides his fans with an hour of musical magic. 

09pm SLT – Edward Kyomoon

Edward gives you high energy rock music and love songs, performing live on either acoustic or electric guitar.  From high energy guitar solos and soaring vocals to acoustic ballads and love songs that make the girls swoon, he is sure to please any audience he draws.

First off, on Friday night Brie Janick organized a Christmas party in the new Westminster sim (formerly Chelsea).  At the moment the sim does not have a lot of buildings, Big Ben, the Gossip Girl building, a cafe and some arcade rides, so it will be interesting to see what  will end up there.  At the party two artists, both from the UK, performed. MadMax Huet, a guitarist, was the first on stage, playing blues guitar. He was followed by Declan Greenfield, a saxophone player, who describes his sound as smooth and romantic. Perhaps he will perform at the jazz club in Kensington some day, his music would be in keeping with the spirit of the place. Both are excellent musicians and it was a treat hearing their very different styles.

Saturday was another busy musical day. The cafe attached to the Underground Club officially opened with a party featuring a performance by well-known Second Life artist Maximillion Kleene. A popular musician, the UGC was packed with people enjoying his music and meeting up with friends. 

 Afterwards Bon Jovi tribute band Bad Ampitude  gave a concert in a venue  specially created above  Knightsbridge. They played all the hits made so well known by the band, including my favourite “You Give Love a Bad Name”.  The sim was packed, at one point Janey said that there were 62 people, I am sure at some times there must have been at least 70. A great weekend in Virtual London.

I did not forget Victoriana completely, though.

Winter has arrived there, so I went out shopping to pick up some winter gear and then wandered around the sims, admiring the homes all decorated for the holiday season and in general just enjoying the winter scenes.

I came across a couple of snowmen in Victoriana Square lamenting the fact that spring would soon arrive (which helps keep a perspective on things)

and then another couple of snowmen who seem to have found true love, perhaps showing that no matter how frosty the outward appearance may be, when the right person is found love conquers all.

And speaking of love, I know that come what may in SL, there will always be one individual happy to see me and wanting to cuddle up. That would be Max, Janey’s little Siamese cat, who lives in the Trilogy office in Kensington. Janey and I were having a chat when Max wandered by, snuggled up to my foot and went off to sleep.

Many years ago there was a Charles Schultz book with the title “Happiness is a Warm Puppy”.  Around Trilogy, happiness is a warm kitten.

So i logged on, realising it is monday,
and that means Fyrm Fouroux did his gig at his own venue.
And as you all know i have a weak spot for Fyrm, and today showed again why.
He put down an amazing set, and we where there with only 3 people.
Madelin, Roni and yours truly.

Offcourse Fyrm sees this, he reads the chat and responds to what is going on,
a few people dropped in, listened and decided it is not their music and poofed out.
This happens all the time at gigs but we started talking about this.

Fyrm tolled he has thought about changing his set to get more people,
he is playing more covers now then he used too, he likes to play those covers
but he is an orginal artists, he needs to tell his stories
We, the regular fans, discourage this offcourse, no need to change if you are good

Fyrm is one of the most orginal musicians on SL, sure he aint drawing big crowds
but the fans he has are dedicated to his music and Fyrm is dedicated to it.
I hope that more people show up and give his music a chance, he deserves this.

After Fyrm’s set, a fantastic one by the way, we went to see Offerus Fouquet
Never saw the name before, so i had no idea what to expect.
I TPed over, and for a second i thought i was home !!!

The French songs i have no idea about, im listening now at myspace again.
And i assume the french songs are orginals.

I like him, he has a nice warm voice,
and the french language is allways pleasant to listen too,
allthough i don’t understand a word off it.
For me french is like a “holiday” language,
during the summer holiday’s the dutch people move over to south france ~smile~
for their vacation.

His voice reminds me off this, i see a nice french square, some fires burning.
People sitting around it enjoying their holiday.
Drinking some wine and listening to Offerus.

The french songs are, musically speaking, fantastic.
They swing, they flow, and are interesting to listen too,
And he sure is an artist that i visit some more.

After this we hopped over to The Livingroom where Juel had Doubledown for a party
I tolled you before i know nothing about the music DD does and i am going to have
an intervieuw soon about this, cause DD looks like a musical chameleon to me.

it was the third time i heared him, and every time was different.
Yesterday he did a triphop, chillout, and nujazz set, mixed with some orginals.

/me tries to google what the hell this means.

It was good what he did,
creating one nonstop set that changes and moving up and down.
And, being a noob with this, its hard to explain what you hear.

I hear music that wants to make me dance, during a track i hear new things
coming in, little things like instruments or sounds, that changes the feel of the song.
Slowly it changes into something new but DD remains to have a basic sound
throughout the whole set, at some points he just changes it directly
in something else using other rhythms and stuff, brilliant stuff.

After his set the real SL madness started.
We ended up at Oldwolf Criss.
A guitar player that i like a lot, but SL started to bug me.
My stream dropped out, couldn’t move my camera easy and all those other
annoying things.

After Oldwolf, Maximillion Kleene jumped on stage and it got a little bit better

~NOT~

After a while Max said on air he crashed, but i still heared him so i figered
he would be back soon, then he said the whole sim crashed ???
Are you kidding me ? i see everyone dancing ? i hear ya strumming that guitar.
So i talked to Roni in IM, but it took a while before she responded, in fact she
didnt respond at all ?

Hmmm, guess Max is right, so i logged out, took me about 5 minuted before
SL was closed, still i heared Max ~lmao~ and offcourse Linden didnt let me in.

But don’t worry, the few songs i heared of Max has gotten me hungry for more.
The guy is awesome, good voice, good guitar playing and very entertaining.
So im sure going back for a whole set to blog it.

The festival is the first time a themed programme of events on this scale in Second Life has aimed at raising real life issues. It draws on the talents of artists, musicians and campaigners from many different countries including Argentina, Cyprus, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy,  South Africa, Sweden, the Netherlands, the UK and the USA. Some well know SL musicians are headlining the festival including:

There will also be talks from Ghana, Switzerland, Poland and the UK, poetry slams and stand up comedy.

The UN Convention sets out the universal rights of all humanity. However as well as a celebration, the festival is also designed to raise rights that are breached – the right to free speech, a fair trial, shelter, rights of women and children to be free from violence etc.

The opening of the Festival includes a live interview from Paris with Draxtor Despres (Bernard Drax). He has just been awarded a Every Human has Rights Award for his machinima on the Guantanemo Bay build Gone Gitmo by Nonny Writer and Ping Rau explained ” Virtual Gitmo is the prime example how an immersive environment, which has the power to collapse geographies and enable communcation in real time across cultural boundaries, can help people engage in important issues concerning human rights.” He will be speaking about the award and plans to bring other awardees to the discussion at Angel’s Nest at 8am SLT on 10 December. Then a concert by Jaynine Scarborough will launch the full programme of music with 12 concerts on the first day of the festival (including 3 at the Amnesty International sim) and other events around SL.

One of the leaders of the festival,  musician Junivers Stockholm, has been appointed one of the musicians for the  Amnesty International Small Places Tour (http://www.smallplacestour.info/site/).  This is inspired by Eleanor Roosevelt’s words “Where, after all, do universal human rights begin? In small places, close to home – so close and so small that they cannot be seen on any maps of the world. Yet they are the world of the individual person… Such are the places where every man, woman, and child seeks equal justice, equal opportunity, equal dignity without discrimination. Unless these rights have meaning there, they have little meaning anywhere. Without concerted citizen action to uphold them close to home, we shall look in vain for progress in the larger world.” This is the first time Second Life has been the venue for concerted citizen action to highlight human rights across the world.

Junivers and activists Any1 Gynoid and Medora Chevalier  explained that they are really excited about the growth and power of the festival plans. 

Junivers Stockholm said: “Wow, this is growing! Person to person, network to network – the connections grow and we’ll build on them to back actions for humanity now and in the future.”

Any1 Gynoid said: ” We have an awesome array of SL’s finest talents backing the festival. Everyone says yes, they want to stand up for human rights. This is going to be a festival to remember! Woot!”

Medora Chevalier said: “There is a new mood of optimism spreading around the world. We no longer need to be divided. We can act and campaign together, as humans caring about humans, sharing solutions, making change happen. The connections made in this world make ripples spread across the world to strengthen human rights.”

There are a range of good causes in Second Life associated with the festival. These include Amnesty  (featured on 10th), Uthango™ a social enterprise based in South Africa (featured on 11th), Keep Kids Safe/DrivebyAgony (featured on 13th), Peace Train/Twilight’s Peace (featured 14th). Many others are featured in the sims visited for concerts or exhibitions during the festival.

The Festival started with an idea at discussions following Carp’s the Rings Rock Opera, which raises social justice issues using music and drama. The performance of the Rings on 14th December at NMC Labs will be the last for some time as a break is planned. Max is a great guy and a really good singer and so popular in SL.  The rest of the London team dropped in, including Debs Regent and Saffia Widdershins from Prim Perfect Magazine, and the place was rocking!  I wore one of Cher’s skirts which is a favourite of mine and stood taking as many pictures as I could, which was a little difficult with the lag.  Captive looked stunning in a blue dress as she danced near the stage.

My friend Hibiscus also looked lovely in a white dress and I’ll have to catch her later for a shot of that, same as Cappie I’ll have to get some pics another time a bit closer when lag isn’t a problem, but everyone had shown up and given Cher their support on his very special night.  Here’s to a great future for the store!!!

Changing the subject, which I am known to do!! after my CNN story on ‘Anger‘ had been linked to the real life story about the couple getting divorced after meeting in SL.  I got a message from a really nice lady called Seasonedred Halfpint about her and her partner Darrius Beresford who have got married in SL and engaged in real life, and its a lovely story.  Anyway you can read about them on CNN at http://www.ireport.com/docs/DOC-151830

Hibiscus and I went over to a shop ‘grand opening’ in Mayfair yesterday.  Earlier in the day good mate Cher had introduced me to the lady who was opening her first jewellery shop, Albros Breda.  Albros was really nice and so very clever, her jewellery is so detailed and looks so real.  I saw a lovely ruby set of earrings, necklace and bracelet, so I bought it on the spot.  I hope Albros has great success with the store, she works hard and I think it is about the best jewellery I have seen in SL.  I would certainly go back there if I wanted something else.  She showed us the first bracelet she had ever made, and all I could think was ‘wow’, this lady has talent and great design skills.

Cher has also altered his Boutique to the ‘Bonjour Fashion House’ and it looks fantastic, he is so good at building and design and is doing a lot to help the London sim as well, which is really making a difference.  He has re textured a lot of the pavements and roads and it’s looking really smart there now.

CurWay

Cur is a desiger, he makes beautiful furniture – mainly kichens -  but there is some other goodies to find in his store, too. Yes, he has a shop of his own in SL. The firm is called CurWay Creations. If you haven´t been there yet, I think it´s time for you to make a visit.

Vira and Belze

Well, back to last night. We had visitors – Belze Fraker and Vira Broome. They are really good friends of ours. Belze has been away for a while, and it is really nice to have him back again.

We sat in the sofa and tried to amuse Vira, but I think she thought we were boing, she kept falling to sleep all the time She was reading an article in Aftonbladet about sex in Second life:

We rounded it up with celebrating Maximillion Kleenes second rezday. I was so happy because he finally played the song I been asking for a long time – Hurt

Thanks Max! – the best artist in SL.
