Apesar de todos os esforços que vem sendo apresentado por várias comunidades de Spore com o objetivo de “trazer” o jogo a vida novamente, os recentes cortes de funcionários na Maxis, EA Games, fechamentos de estúdios, e muitos outros problemas, afetaram seriamente a equipe responsável pelo desenvolvimento do Spore. Nossos amigos do Kotaku estão enviando notícias do mundo do desenvolvimento de jogos, onde reportaram que o desenvolvedor de SPORE™ de Emeryville, CA, pode estar sendo atropelado com a grande quantia de demissões já que sua matriz, Eletronic Arts deram fim em 17% do pessoal.

"Nós primeiramente ouvimos que as demissões uma semana atrás, fortemente afetosas, são de funcionários de SPORE™ e de antigos estúdios do The Sims da EA Maxis, a aquisição de jogos em redes sociais Rupture Studios, e dos criadores de Mercenaries e The Saboteur, Pandemic Studios LA. Foi dito que esses estúdios de desenvolvimento foram afetados com demissões substanciais, de acordo com uma fonte, de empregados remanescentes realocados para os quartéis generais da EA em Los Angeles e Redwood Shores."

SFCGE sabe que SPORE™ não vendeu como algumas pessoas queriam, e ficou anos atrás do planejado. E Kotaku reporta que um memorando interno da EA diz que as demissões eram para "melhorar nossa estrutura de custos, assegurar qualidade e construir integridade de planejamento para este estúdio."

Recentemente, a EA Games fechou o estúdio Pandemic Studios, e também demitiu cerca de 1500 funcionários em todo o mundo, além de realizar grandes cortes na equipe da Maxis e em boa parte da equipe responsável pelo jogo Command & Conquer. A série The Sims e Spore foram seriamente afetadas também.

Podemos dizer então, que o futuro do Spore definitivamente é duvidoso.

Yes. It was Friday the 13th yesterday and based on our life on earth, we are somehow screwed into thinking of that THE day as being negative / bad luck / something terrible will happen. Hold and behold, according to Wikipedia; Friday the 13th occurs when the thirteenth day of a month falls on Friday, which superstition holds to be a day of good or bad luck.. Now who ever always instituted Friday the 13th to BAD LUCK?? CMon’.. we already have enough negativity in our life, so should we all be positive for once??

I actually never knew that Friday the 13th was also a day with what they say “heavy rain with a possibility of some good luck sunshine“, and boy oh boy, was I really felt happy this time around. To breakdown my streak of circumstances (probably a compensation of the previous incident “The Trip We Almost Had“. It all begin 3 days ago when I was lack of sleep, one day trying to book my AirAsia free seats (Damn! Didn’t get it this time around, but my RM 70 Bali + RM 70 Philliphines is still on track!!!), one day coming back late after my 2nd round of Lady Gaga judging.. and the one day chilling out in Vietnam till late…

#8 : 4 lots of Maxis IPO…status… SUCCESSFUL! Woohooo… Feels like winning the Lottery.. Omg.. I can’t even win a lucky draw if there was 95% chance of winning, but this, I DID! Thank you Maxis and CIMB!! Everybody told me that we could only apply for 1 lot, but apparently NOT. I failed in my BLUE form, failed in my Maybank Bid, but bagged my biggest catch through CIMB… and 4 lots?? Awesome!

明讯（MAXIS）首次公开售股（IPO）上市计划获得市场热烈反应，但同时引来不少投诉，虽然明讯献售高达22亿5000万股新股，不过，还是有许多申请者投诉所获分配新股严重“不符比例”，並置疑明讯配售新股的透明度。

一些本地基金虽將竞標价格放得很高，有些甚至愿意以最高的参考价认购新股，不过，他们仅获得分配竞標总额的5%新股，一些甚至低过2%，或仅获配得“象徵式”的1000股，令他们大失所望之余，也对配股方式有高度置疑。

一名投诉者指出，明讯新股分配情况应该更透明，以便投资者更清楚个中详情，以缓和他们对配额不符比例的不满情绪。

玛拉股票信托投资服务首席投资员鲁斯里阿布耶明表示，新股促销单位应该进行更多的巡迴促销活动，以向更多投资者解释整个交易的详情，包括献售新股的架构及如何定价等，以减少市场的疑感。

据一名黄姓抽佣经纪投诉，她协助其客户进行竞標新股活动，可是她们申请大批新股，並將大批资金存进认购新股的信托户头，竞標价格也是最高，可是最终才仅得1000股。

这使他们觉得大力支持被错误滥用，以及没有分配到应有的新股数额，难以向客户交待。並希望这间公司解释新股分配是如何进行的，不然的话，將向大马交易所及小股东机构作出投诉。

明讯早前在新股抽签仪式上指出，供投资机构认购新股的超额认购达3.7倍，这不包括保留给基础投资者及政府批准的土著投资机构的份额在內。

这意味著新股吸引国內外基金经理的认购资金高达193亿令吉，以竞標认购值53亿令吉新股，每股售价为5令吉。而其中的10亿6000万股供机构投资者部份，將平分给本地及外国基金经理。

而供零售投资者认购的2亿1229万5000股，超额认购则为1.8倍。这间公司献售22亿5000万股新股中，总共吸引的认购资金高达265亿令吉。

明讯指出，它的投资机构预先订价活动吸引大批外资的购兴，包括10个新的基金及主权財富基金等。

明讯（MAXIS）11月19日重返马股上市，预料將马股富时综指30成员排名出现变动，根据估计，明讯將排行第11位，因此首10名的成员並没有变动，联昌集团（CIMB,1023,主板金融组）、森那美（SIME,4197,主板贸服组）和大眾银行（PBBANK,1295,主板金融组）稳居三甲位子。

明讯佔综指比重的2.7%，將原居11位的PPB集团（PPB,4065,主板消费品组）推至12位，並將位居末席的马航（MAS,3786,主板贸服组）挤出榜外。

明讯挤出的马航，及因连锁效应，从富时大马70股项指数股，降级至富时大马小型股指数的贸易风（TWS,4421,主板消费品组）將是最大“输家”。

明讯於11月19日上市，並在第二天（20日）被“保送”列入富时大马综合指数30成份股內，將排名第30的马航挤出成份股排行榜。而排在明讯之后的其余19个股项，也纷纷降了一级，不过，相信比重变动及影响微不足道。

明讯的可投资比重为30%，以及首次公开售股零售价参考价4令吉75仙为基准，明讯將为马股市值排名第11股项。隨著明讯加入，排名第30的马航跌至富时大马70个股项指数里。

一旦上市后，明讯在富时大马综指的比重约为2.7%，而通讯组仍然是综指的第3大领域，仅在银行（35.7%）及种植组（19.1%）之后，佔比重则从目前的9%增加至11.5%，而马股富时大马综指的调整后市值也增加2.4%。

明讯上市后，银行领域在综指比重，將从目前的36.6%降至35.7%，惟仍然无损比重最高的“老大”地位、而种植领域比重则从19.5%微降至19.1%，领域比重排行第二。而排行第4的公用设施领域，则从10.0%降至9.8%。

明讯的调整后市值料达106亿8800万令吉，即在大马投资（AMMB,1015,主板金融组）之下，成为富时大马综指排名第11股项。若是上市后股价扬升，比重及排名可能会变动。

hai..hari ini saya ingin menbincangkan plaform blog manakah yang anda sukai samaada wordprees vs blogger apabila.Seperti yang azhan janjikan adalah untuk megemukakan hujah hujah (bajet nei) bagi mewakili pihak wordprees bagi melunturkan hujah hujah dari pihak blogger.Seperti yang kita ketahui terdapat peperangan dalam dunia blog. Ganas bunyinya. Bukan perang betul tapi perang siber antara ratusan blogging platformyang disediakan. Blogger yang masih baru nampaknya mempunyai ‘terlalu banyak’ pilihanuntuk memilih platform blog mereka. Bagaimanapun saya hanya akan memilih 2 platformblog yang tersohor iaitu WordPress dan Blogger.

Kita sendiri selalu tertanya-tanya “Adakah WordPress lebih baik dari Blogger?”. Bagi saya jawapannya tentulah “Ya.” Salah satu sebabnya ialah saya sendiri menggunakan WordPress. Tetapi untuk mengetahui dengan lebih lanjut lagi, adalah mustahak untuk kita menilainya dari pelbagai aspek dan bandingkan mana satu yang anda betul-betul perlukan. Tetapi sebelum itu, harus anda tanamkan dalam fikiran anda bahawa ini adalah pendapat peribadi saya sahaja. 

Ini antara perbandingan yang saya buat:

1) Mudah ‘Set-up’ dan Menggunakannya

Ya, ianya lebih mudah untuk anda set-up sebuah blog dengan Blogger. Anda boleh mendapatkan sebuah blog dalam masa kurang dari 10 minit. Selepas anda set-up, anda boleh mula hantar artikel dengan serta merta. Jika anda mahu menukar theme untuk bloganda juga tiada masalah kerana terdapat beribu blogger templates yang anda boleh dapatkan secara percuma.

Untuk WordPress pula, anda akan mendapat sakit kepala jika anda hendak memasang pada hosting anda jika anda tidak tahu apa yang anda sedang buat. Pemasangan WordPress pada hosting anda memerlukan anda supaya download fail pemasangan (installation files), upload ke server, set-up database, dan jalankan konfigurasi (configuration script).

Bagaimanapun, jika anda tahu mengenai hosting, anda pasti telah memilih hosting yang berasakan Linux (CPanel). Dengan CPanel, anda boleh membuat pemasangan WordPress dengan satu klik sahaja, upgrade dan membuang (remove) blog WordPress anda. Saya akan cerita lebih lanjut perkara ini dalam artikel yang akan datang.

2) Rekabentuk dan Advanced Use

Blogger tidak membenarkan categories. Anda tidak boleh meletak artikel anda fokus kepada kategori tertentu kecuali anda tahu menggodam (hack). Dengan WordPress, bukan sahaja anda boleh meletak categories, anda juga boleh memaparkannya berasingan pada main page. Secara mudahnya, dengan plug-in dan theme yang betul anda boleh menukar WordPress kepada bentuk majalah (magazine).

Publishing melalui Blogger pula boleh menjadi seperti luka sebelah dalam badan. Ia tidak nampak tapi menyakitkan. Tidak banyak yang anda boleh lakukan dengan artikel anda lebih-lebih lagi jika anda mengubah keseluruhan website anda. Dengan WordPress, publishinglebih pantas, walaupun banyak load pada sistem anda. Dengan akaun Blogger , anda boleh menambah ‘additional features’ seperti “Shout Boxes” yang akan menmbah baik interaksi pada laman anda. Bagaimanapun, itulah yang paling jauh anda boleh lakukan dengan Blogger

Berbanding dengan WordPressr, ianya tiada batasan, bak kata omputih ‘the sky is the limit’. Anda bukan sahaja mendapat theme percuma, tambahan “plugins” dan juga advanced tools, anda juga mendapat khidmat berterusan dari WordPress semata-mata kerana anda menggunakan platform WordPress.

4) Copyrights dan Ownership of Content

Saya akan mulakan dengan Blogger dan bukannya ia teruk tetapi selepas beberapa bulan saya memulakan blog bersama Blogger, saya mula rasa sedikit kecewa dan kemudian barulah saya sedar bahawa – Google Owns Your Content.

Google mempunyai authority untuk menutup akaun anda tanpa amaran jika mereka tidak suka dengan isi kandungan blog anda. Anda tidak mempunyai kuasa penuh terhadap bloganda sendiri. Dengan WordPress, anda mempunyai domain anda sendiri dan blog anda berada di hosting anda. Anda mempunyai kuasa penuh terhadap isi kandungan blog anda.

Dengan mempunyai hosting sendiri menggunakan platform WordPress (bukan WordPress.com), anda bebas untuk menulis apa yang anda mahu dan bebas memilih dan menukar bagaimana paparan blog anda. Ya, Blogger membenarkan anda publish di domain anda sendiri tetapi mereka yang menguruskan database content anda. Jangan Lupa!!

For Streamyx, I have very bad experience with their customer service. When got problem, I always call to their call center. Their customer used to make me heart attack. But now, the quality of their customer service had improved a lot. Those voice that used to make me heart attack is no longer there anymore, a lot of new voice and with better quality. The most important thing, these new people won’t make you piss off until heart attack.

While for speed and stability, undeniable, it is much more better than P1 Wimax.

Feeding off my earlier post on broadband advertising by P1 and TM (streamyx), its now time to focus on Maxis . If i recalled correctly, maxis stop above the line campaigns for its wireless broadband campaign for sometime but it had to respond to the sudden surge of interest and popularity of P1 advertising campaign. Also, not forgetting that maxis is set to relist their stock, so….. you know the drill, make noise in the media, make your brand visible to everyone so they buy your stock!

I am curious, why do i need Maxis to tell me the profile of internet users? hmmm……whats the customer value proposition? Whats the difference between maxis broadband and others? whats the edge?  Does identifying with any of these profile will drive me to subscribe to the service? strange indeed… very ho hum, marketing 101 idea. im wondering who is the poor chap that signed off this campaign in maxis…..

Maxis also did a small above the line campaign, pushing their MUSIC EDITION broadband dongles.

I was scratching my balls when i saw this campaign. How does a broadband modem dongle dressed up with stickers is gonna get me to subscribe? stand a chance to meet local artistes? pffffft….who gives two shits about the local artists? seriously?(Picture credit from prasys blog)

Now lets compare maxis advertising campaign, creative and messaging to the customers -with a HK ISP called 1010

See the difference? clear visual and messaging on speed (speeding ticket) + roaming (passport). The last image is not a full image of their campaign but its shows how a boxer is down on his knees (representing 1010’s competitiors) not being able to catch up with 1010’s new wireless broadband speed.

So lets take a step back and see the ISP market at a glance :

1) P1 – 80,000 subs (as of Sept 2009)

2) Maxis – 145,000 subs (As of Oct 2008).

3) Celcom – 270,000 (As of Mar 2009)

4) Streamyx -1.12Million ( As of May 26th, 2008)

If we re-examine maxis’ strategic marketing campaign since they launched the service, ( almost 3 years now), my guess is that maxis probably has 160k subs (taking into account high churn rate /people leaving the service).  so in 3 years and millions of advertising money spent, maxis only has 160k++ subs. P1 is now 1 year old and it already has 80K plus subs. Whats wrong with the picture here ?

While I was spending time with a friend today, I realized that keying in Maxis by default in a Sony Ericsson T9 keyboard in predictive texting mode releases the word Nazi.

Found that fascinating considering their crappy service these days.

Yeah, i have to say the P1 advertising campaigns are fresh. filled with sexual innuendos? hell yeah!The recently concluded CUT the wires campaign was aimed at wired broadband customers from streamyx. Of course, in malaysia, the lingo of “POTONG” or CUT refers to circumcision, which is mandatory to all muslim boys.

P1 salvo aimed squarely at TM Streamyx broadband (wired) customers...

Well, the campaign was really everywhere. TV, Billboard, magazines,blogs,fb, everything that P1 can stake their logo at! Roughly 3-4 weeks after the campaign, TM finally responded with a tongue in cheek ad, aimed at mocking not only P1 wimax service but also their CEO!

So WTF is this post about you ask? well, firstly, for the longest time as i can remember, this is the first advertising campaign battle between ISP, poking directly at each other not only professionaly but also personaly.Secondly, in the midst of these two ISP battle to win consumers hard earned $$, where is CELCOM and MAXIS?

Maxis, Malaysia’s top mobile operator, is tipped to receive a warm welcome back to the bourse this month in an IPO worth around 3.43 billion dollars, billed as the biggest in Southeast Asian history.

Maxis Berhad, controlled by reclusive Malaysian tycoon Ananda Krishnan and Saudi Telecom, is launching the initial public offering (IPO) on Bursa Malaysia two years after it was taken private and de-listed.

It is offering 2.25 billion, or 30 percent, of its shares at an indicative price of 5.20 ringgit (1.52 dollars) which would raise 11.7 billion ringgit. Most of the shares will go to institutional investors.

Parent company Maxis Communications is expected to deploy the proceeds of the sale, slated for November 19, on funding expansion in the booming Indian and Indonesian markets, and to reduce debt.

Economic pundits are upbeat about the listing despite the uncertain global economic outlook that has soured other recent share offerings in the region, but warn that the market remained unpredictable.

Yeah Kim Leng, chief economist with ratings agency RAM Holdings, said that Maxis’ dominant position in the domestic telecoms industry had triggered an early rush to collect application forms.

“Investors can smile. The listing is likely to be successful,” he told AFP, but said there were unlikely to be any hefty immediate profits.

“The market is very volatile. It is not a sure bet. But the sentiment is strong for Maxis,” he said.

The listing includes only Maxis’ Malaysian mobile business and excludes its ventures in India and Indonesia which remain under Maxis Communications, the unlisted parent company.

Alliance Research said Maxis remains the leading mobile operator in Malaysia in both the prepaid and postpaid segments with some 11.4 million subscriptions as at end of the first half of 2009.

Its postpaid segment commands a thumping 46.4 percent of the local market share, but Alliance said the business had “limited growth prospects, without overseas operations”.

“The new listed entity will be without its overseas operations which could offer robust growth potential going forward. Investors are left with domestic operations, in which mobile business faces limited growth,” it said.

Nazir Razak, group chief executive of CIMB which is the principal adviser for the listing exercise, has said the IPO will be the biggest in Southeast Asian history.

He has defended the company’s growth prospects, saying there is still plenty of potential for the group’s broadband and data segments in Malaysia and that SIM card penetration is also predicted to grow.

Ananda Krishnan owns a 45 percent stake in Maxis Communications, while Saudi Telecom owns 25 percent and the remainder is held by local funds.

Apart from Maxis, Ananda — ranked by Forbes magazine as Malaysia’s second-richest man — has interests in the country’s pay TV operator Astro, gaming and power firm Tanjong and satellite services company Measat.

Seperti yang aku ceritakan, internet aku dah kena potong. Jadi bila rasa bosan malam-malam, aku takde internet untuk melampiaskan rasa bosan itu.Nak duduk pun tak senang. Nak baring kang tertidur lak. Nak study 24 hour takut memudaratkan kesihatan pulak, haram hukumnya.

Memandangkan aku tak mau sambung dulu perkhidmatan dengan Celcom,nak rilek-rilek dulu,sebab hujung bulan ni aku dah nak start praktikal, masa praktikal rasanya dah boleh dapat free-internet kat ofis, jadi aku terfikir untuk menggunakan internet secara daily atau weekly dengan competitor Celcom, yakni Maxis. Bajet sebagai temporari je la.

Lalu aku pun call lah khidmat pelanggan Maxis untuk dapatkan maklumat tentang internet tu. Kalau Celcom, cakap dengan pegawai khidmat pelanggan tu percuma ja, tapi dengan Maxis kena potong kredit lah pulak.(1300 bla bla numbernya)

Aku pun tanyalah soalan aku : Kalau saya langgan internet yang daily/weekly, kemudian saya nak guna modem untuk sambungkan pada komputer, boleh berfungsi tak.

Kemudian jawapan yang diberikan : Kena setting dulu, sila dail 1 800 bla bla untuk dapatkan setting bla bla user name bla bla…

Disebabkan dia macam ramah tamah je, aku pun tanya-tanya lagi. Yada yada yada yada …

Akhir kata, dia tanya aku : Yer encik Fendi, sebelum saya akhiri perbualan, sila Encik Fendi jawab soalan saya, daripada 1 hingga 5, 5 adalah paling baik, berapa yang Encik Fendi berikan untuk perkhidmatan saya.

I heard people say, “you will be happier if you give in”.

If you must know, I have lived away from my homestate most of my life.  In other words, I have been running away from my roots of being a ‘Sabahan’–or a ‘Bornean’ (whichever you’d prefer) that I have been using a different mobile operator–Maxis, which is not quite popular in the state because it is more expensive.

And all of my families and (local) friends have been complaining that it is expensive to text / call me.

So today, I gave in to their complaints.

I went out and bought a line from the infamous operator line in Sabah–DiGi.

I bought a new number because:

Firstly, it’s high time for me to change my number.

Secondly, I gave in to the mobile norm of my homestate.

And somehow or rather…I felt happy.  Maybe the saying is true…

I am happier now that I gave in & got a new number. 

I texted my family & friends,

Soon, there were replies.

The One Decade BroFriend (Brother / Friend) called and said,

What the hell?!  Sabahan roots, my arse!

The BestAunt texted,

Got your text, Dear.  Don’t lost contact this time!

The Cousin texted,

Again, Dear? Noted.

The BestFriend replied,

Hurm. It’s about time!  Please activate your SuperSMS!

The fact is that, I change my numbers far too often for many to keep up.

But I was always a Maxis / Celcom user.

Whatever that was, doesn’t matter now.

As of today, I am a DiGi DUCK!

I always have being loyal to Maxis, and I have been using their services for about a decade. My experiences with them are mostly happy and seldom experiencing any problem from their services. That’s why I think their bills are considerably much pricier than other network like Celcom and Digi.

However, I have experiencing a very bad services from Maxis since last week! I have got a full bar on my iPhone, but I can’t receive and make any calls at all. The weirdest thing is that, it only happens when I’m inside my shop, in the Mall. However, the moment when I step out from my shop (still inside the mall) I will get an SMS from Maxis, notifying me the miss called numbers and frequency of missed call, too. Sometimes, I even got 10 missed call or more, from the same number.

And now what? No handphone in my office? This is what I paid for the service?

明讯週三发招股书指出，最终IPO价格，將以每股5令吉20仙，或发售给机构投资者价格的95%而定，视何者为低。

“最终售价將於11月9日定夺，若最终价格低於预订售价，投资者將获退款。”

明讯的申请期限將从週三早上10时开始至11月5日下午5时，並预定在11月19日正式在马股上市。

在这项重新上市计划中，明讯將公开献售现有股本30%或相等於22亿5000万股股票，每股面值10仙。

其中，献售给零售投资者的2亿1229万5000股（2.83%）股票中，2117万5000股（0.28%）將献售给合格顾客、3500万股（0.47%）献售给合格僱员、7500万股（1%）献售给土著，7500万股（1%）则供非土著投资者申请。

至於献售给机构投资者的20亿3700股（27.7%）股票中，8亿8250万股（11.5%）献售给获批准土著投资者，剩下11亿7500万股（15.67%）则献售给其他投资者。

另外，明讯强调，由於这项IPO无发售新股，因此並不会获取任何收益。

分析员指出，明讯约是以今年盈利的17倍本益比订价，每股盈利估计为30.4仙；而摩指亚太电讯股指数目前约只以13倍本益比水平交易。

Why couldn’t they have came out with this before now? I don’t even know if this update will even fix the error where it deletes my save files and only leave the “BACKUP” files which are unusable. No telling if its the mods I’ve installed or the updates that do more harm than good. I just hope they fix The Sims 3 main game before there be any more occurrences that will result in people not playing the game altogether.
