This Years Winner IS on AMERICAN IDOL; Mr Phil Phillps

I’m right!! I’m right!! I’m right!!! Every year I’ve been able to pick out the Idol Winner long long before the finals …and this year I was able to do it again. Actually I wrote this blog out hours before the actual show. I should have did it a month ago because based on this little theory I’ve been working on about Idol … I knew Phil Phillips would be the winner of Season 11′s American Idol. I knew it. I knew it. I knew it

I clearly remember when I first saw him audition for the show. It was the very first show and just like today he was the very last act. Here is the clip;

When I first saw him on a scale of 1-10 (10 being best) , I rated him a 7. I’ve never given anybody a 10. I did give a couple 9′s, a couple 8′s, a bunch of 7′s. I do remember at the end of that show however rating the top 3 talents of that night and I listed Phil among those top 3. All 3 of those talents made the top 24.

One thing I noticed almost soon as Phil got to the top 24 that he had this confidence or some call it this “I don’t care” attitude. It was reflected in the way he interacted with the mentors, in his dress I really thought it was going to be the thing that would really hurt him and then I realized it was that attitude that was making his act, even the more interesting. He never changed it. He just kept on being Phil.

On Feb 29th, in the semi-final. I started judging audience appeal rather than talent. The scores were 1-5. 5 was the highest and meant the audience is really going to really like this person and I gave Phil a 5.

One thing I have said throughout my post is that, the winners are not picked by the judges or the voters soley on vocal ability or song performance as so many continue to think. There are so many other things that come into play other then just that . Other than vocal ability, I believe that along with vocal ability, the humility and confidence displayed is a big factor, and lastly if the contestant has that “Idol style” (because its an Idol audience thats picking them, and over time that audience changes). I’ve said throughout this blog that now the “Idol Style” is country singers and rockers and and Phil is a mixture of both.

I must say I never thought Phil’s vocal ability was “over the top exceptional” but to me he rated high in humility and VERY HIGH in displaying confidence and ” Idol style”,  all which I believe is taken in when everybody (judges and all) decide who they’d like their Idol to be. I think all of those, aside from vocal ability, bring about excitement in every artist’s performances and I saw those things coming into play for Phil early off, so much so that when there were 8, I knew Phil would be in the top 5, more so than any of the others. I stated that prediction and listed the singers in the order that would be standing and I listed Phil in the #1 spot

This is the first time I have ever documented the different Idol predictions I’ve made throughout an Idol show and it was basically to see if there was any method to my madness. Seeing that 95% of what I’ve predicted throughout the show has come to pass and once again I have picked a winner, I’ve now concluded that there is. It all has to do with judging those other things the contestants bring (mentioned above). The higher the numbers go in each of those judgments, the further the contestant goes and 2 of those which are character judgement’s has to do with how the contestants interact with the judges, mentors, family and friends and other contestants on the show. I think each of these things determine who the judges, mentors and producer favor, as well as who gets the most story’s and air time. All those things combined helped me pick out every year who THIS YEARS WINNER IS” for American Idol

Everyone knows how obsessed I am with Pinterest, so lets not even get to that.  I thought that I would do a quick post every week showing you guys what my five favourite pins are from the previous week.  I will do these every Wednesday!  Lets get in to this week’s!

I love the two dresses, I’m getting both of the jewelry pieces, and I LOVE mint!  My room is going to be mint themed this summer!

There I was at probably ten or eleven years old, with a rubber baby doll, playing ‘house’ on a blanket in the big yard at the corner of my street.

Even though I was well past the age when most of my girl friends had long given up any thoughts of playing with dolls, I had a real fascination with them and there was something about cuddling one that made me feel comforted and whole. I think today children are given stuffed animals in the same way I was given dolls.  It was probably the same place in my heart that made me always long for a baby sister, and inevitably a child of my own.  I make no apologies for my actions, it was simply something I loved, and even now I find it difficult to see a doll that is undressed, it’s hair uncombed or disregarded in any way.

When I think of the photo, I am wearing my Brownie uniform and I am kneeling on a big, white blanket with Mary Jo and John John Huggard, fiddling with a small sweater on the doll that had at some point belonged to one of the seven Huggard children.

What a miracle it was in December of 2009 to find my friend Donna Snow, who amazingly sent me the picture I had repeatedly dreamed of and already wrote about in this story.

Coincidence?

No.  I don’t really believe in coincidence.

I believe in Serendipity.
