This is a shot from the North Chagrin Reservation of the Cleveland Metroparks near our home. This is one from the spring. Several photogs, including myself, were poised to capture this pair of barn swallows with their cameras. I decided a meta-photo, that is a photograph of a photographer taking a picture, was in order.
Blowin’ in the Wind
By Bob Dylan

How many roads must a man walk down
Before you call him a man?
Yes, ‘n’ how many seas must a white dove sail
Before she sleeps in the sand?
Yes, ‘n’ how many times must the cannon balls fly
Before they’re forever banned?
The answer, my friend, is blowin’ in the wind,
The answer is blowin’ in the wind.

How many years can a mountain exist
Before it’s washed to the sea?
Yes, ‘n’ how many years can some people exist
Before they’re allowed to be free?
Yes, ‘n’ how many times can a man turn his head,
Pretending he just doesn’t see?
The answer, my friend, is blowin’ in the wind,
The answer is blowin’ in the wind.

How many times must a man look up
Before he can see the sky?
Yes, ‘n’ how many ears must one man have
Before he can hear people cry?
Yes, ‘n’ how many deaths will it take till he knows
That too many people have died?
The answer, my friend, is blowin’ in the wind,
The answer is blowin’ in the wind.

This photo is best seen in large size view to see its details. A new poem:

Summer flowers
Slipping away
Like the sun at dusk
The youthful spring, no more
In the old man’s step

Dog-eared cone flowers
Droopy pink petals
Spiny orange tops
As best they can
Holding on for dear life

Our lives at times
Weak-kneed, fragile, out of kilter
Like some faint bad dream
Weighing upon us
Lingering well past morning coffee

Sometimes we wonder
Especially when afraid
If it’s something we’ve done
That’s driven our lives away
Or maybe just time to say goodbye

According to Wikipedia, cosmology (from Greek κοσμολογία – κόσμος, kosmos, “universe”; and -λογία, -logia, “study”) is the study of the universe in its totality, and by extension, humanity’s place in it. My recent studies included several courses on cosmology. One of which was Mind in the Cosmos; a study of the role of consciousness in the ongoing creation of the cosmos. The course taught us about the causal role of consciousness in giving birth to the universe we are a part of and live within. (Both the photo and the universe are best seen in large size view).

A summery shot of my wife Mary’s flower garden. It is hard to believe it is nearly mid-August. Savor your summer flowers, the warm evenings, sounds of crickets and frogs, and other reminders of the season of sun. Soon they will disappear…stolen away by the breath of fall.
