Oh my, oh my. I cannot WAIT until the fight of my LIFETIME! Anticipation is killer right now. How will I survive until the night of the actual fight? I will not lie, though – I am a little nervous. Mayweather and his perfect little record makes my heart pound when I think about it. He is quick, and has some undeniable power, so to be nervous about this fight may even be an understatement. But you know what? As corny as it sounds, Pacquiao’s got a lot of heart and has that hunger to win. Mayweather is just a lot of talk. I’m looking forward to seeing Pacquiao shut up that mouth of Mayweather Jr. & Sr. once and for all. What I would give to see Pacquiao knock Mayweather out and have him eat some FLOOR!

On top of that, who would you rather see win – the smaller, very humble underdog who rose to fame from a small country OR the big-mouthed, cocky guy that runs from the good fighters? That’s what I thought.

And as much as I call myself American, I’m sorry but I’m FILIPINO first and foremost.

GO MANNY! Train like no other and put Mayweather in his PLACE!

So, I was wondering why I couldn’t find the results anywhere for the bout between Prince Badi

So, I was wondering why I couldn’t find the results anywhere for the bout between Prince Badi Ajamu vs. Daniel Judah in Atlantic city on Friday, November 20th, and now I know why… IT NEVER HAPPENED!!! Apparently, “the boxing prince” Badi Ajamu, who hasn’t fought since 2007, came in 10 pounds overweight at the weigh-ins.

Look, I understand it’s hard to cut weight, believe me. But when it’s your PROFESSION as a PROFESSIONAL boxer, it’s PART OF THE JOB that shouldn’t be skipped. And that goes double for the top paid fighters. Which is why YES, Mayweather coming in 2 pounds overweight is a big deal! And yes, I’m still bitter.

If you wanna be fat and box, fight at heavyweight where you’re cooler by the pound. Like…

Mayweather-Pacquiao: it's gotta be done The fans want it. HBO’s president Ross Greenburg

Mayweather-Pacquiao: it's gotta be done

The fans want it. HBO’s president Ross Greenburg promises it. Top Rank chief Bob Arum says he would be an idiot to not make it. Freddie Roach has been wanting it for some time (and thinks Pacquiao will definitely KO Mayweather). Rugged Man demands it**. The fighters? Well, they haven’t really said they don’t want it.

Pacquiao will always espouse that crappy ‘I let my promoter decide who I fight’ line, but at least he has said he’s willing to fight anybody and when asked point blank in a recent interview he said for the record that he wants to fight Mayweather. And besides, if both Arum and Roach are determined to make it happen, then that effectively equates to Manny wanting the fight.

Therefore, the way I see it, whether the ultimate boxing match between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr will happen may depend on which of Floyd’s two nicknames he wants to adopt: ‘Money’ or ‘Pretty Boy’.

If Floyd is all about the ‘Money’ (as he claims to be), then there’s no way this fight won’t get done. Initial reports indicate that a fight between the two biggest names in boxing at the moment who also happen to be the top 2 pound-for-pound fighters in the world (how rare is that?), would surely challenge if not smash the PPV record set by De La Hoya-Mayweather in May 2007 (2.44 million PPV buys). There is not a single fight out there between any two living fighters that would generate anywhere close to the type of money that Pacquiao-Mayweather would make. Even with a 50-50 purse split (discussed further below), Mayweather would make more than double what he could make going 70-30 with any other fighter in the world.

On the other hand, if Floyd wants to remain a ‘Pretty Boy’, he can keep on ranting about how boxing ‘is a business’ or ‘doesn’t work like that’ and that he won’t do business with Bob Arum (his former promoter with whom he had a difficult falling out). Or, as Freddie Roach best put it: “When [Mayweather] says he wants 65 percent of the revenue, that’s like saying he doesn’t want to fight.” Not saying that Floyd can’t get the ‘Money’ and remain a ‘Pretty Boy’ by outclassing Pacquiao without taking a beating, but there’s no way Floyd thinks that it will be a walk in the park for him. He’s seen Diaz, De La Hoya, Hatton and Cotto. All of them (except Hatton who went out too early) looked like they had been through meat grinders after the fight. His father, Floyd Sr, is so traumatised by Pacquiao’s dominance that he has accused the Filipino superstar of being on performance-enhancing drugs.

So does Mayweather even want the fight?

I think he does, even if it’s just for the money. As made abundantly clear on his heated interview with Rugged Man, Mayweather doesn’t care about his legacy. Actually, he already believes that his legacy (as one of the greatest of all time) is set in stone. Perhaps, but if he doesn’t end up fighting Pacquiao or (to a lesser extent) Shane Mosley, that legacy will be tarnished forever. Mayweather has already carved out a reputation as a dodger of dangerous opponents (regardless of whether the reputation has merit). A single bout against Pacquiao which Mayweather says he can easily win will go a long way towards erasing that reputation, and more importantly, will make Floyd more money than he’s ever seen. No one doubts that Mayweather has the ability to beat Pacquiao, which is what makes his reluctance so frustrating.

Maybe it’s just posturing to put himself in the best position when the time comes to talk about the purse split. Maybe he just wants to stir up more controversy and paint himself as the ‘bad guy’ for more publicity for the fight. Maybe’s he’s genuinely afraid of Pacquiao. Or maybe he’s just a douche. Regardless, Floyd Mayweather Jr has been mouthing off about Manny Pacquiao since the Filipino’s impressive victory over Miguel Cotto.

“I’m in a no-win situation,” Mayweather said. “If I beat Manny Pacquiao you know what they are going to say? ‘You are supposed to beat him, you are Floyd Mayweather, you are the bigger man.’ If I knock him out they’ll say, ‘You’re supposed to knock him out [because] he’s been knocked out before.’ I’m in a no-win situation and when I beat him no one is going to be surprised because he’s been beaten before. Whatever I do to Pacquiao has been done before. He’s been beaten on three occasions. And if I knock him out I don’t want the world shouting because he’s been knocked out twice before.”

When Floyd Mayweather Jr says fighting Pacquiao is a “no-win situation” for him, all it is doing is make him look like he is looking for a way out.

Floyd has also been trying to shift the blame to Pacquaio in case the fight doesn’t happen. As quoted in Dan Rafael’s blog at ESPN, Mayweather says that Pacquiao doesn’t want to fight him because Manny knows he can’t beat Floyd. Despite not having said once that he wants to fight Pacquiao, Mayweather is now saying that Manny has not come out and said publicly he wants a piece of Floyd. This may be true, but Pacquiao doesn’t need to. Arum makes Pacquiao’s fights and Arum has made it unequivocally clear that he will do everything he can to make the Mayweather bout happen. In contrast, according his own words, Mayweather is his “own boss”, speaks for himself and “tell it like it is.” This actually makes Floyd look worse because it just means it has been his own personal choice to dodge all the top, prime welterweights, and that if a fight with Pacquiao doesn’t happen, it’s because Floyd doesn’t want it to.

In response, Bob Arum simply said: “All I want to say is that my guy [Pacquiao] has said, ‘We’re here, we’re ready to fight Mayweather.’ “ This was confirmed in the link above to the video interview.

In the end, I don’t think Floyd really has a choice. Neither does Manny for that matter. If either one of them backs out from this fight to take on another boxer (or retire), especially when all the stars are seemingly aligned, there will be so much public backlash and animosity against that man that it will have a permanent impact on his reputation and career.

Purse and weight negotiations

The logical purse split for a fight of this magnitude is 50-50. Most commentators are now of the opinion that this will not be difficult to achieve given the amount of money that is at stake.

From Pacquaio’s side, the man doing the negotiating is obviously Top Rank’s Bob Arum. And on Mayweather’s side, Richard Schaefer of Golden Boy will represent Floyd (as Floyd has signed a 5-fight deal with them). Al Haymon and Leonard Ellerbe are Floyd’s advisers who will liaise closely with Schaefer to ensure the negotiations reflect Floyd’s intentions.

There will probably be a bit of back and forth with both sides arguing that they should get he lion’s share of the purse. Mayweather’s camp will argue that he is undefeated and that his PPV numbers against their common opponents (De La Hoya, Hatton and Marquez) were better than Pacquiao’s. On the other hand, Pacquiao’s camp will argue that Manny’s most recent PPV numbers (the Cotto fight did at least 1.25 million buys) are more impressive than Floyd’s (the Marquez fight did 1.05 million PPV buys) and that when Mayweather fought De La Hoya and Hatton, the global financial crisis hadn’t struck yet. Plus, Marquez really only made a name for himself because he was in two very tight contests against Pacquiao.

I believe they will settle on 50-50 in the end. Both Mayweather and Arum’s egos are too big to allow the other to get even a couple of percentage points on them. And honestly, I think 50-50 is a fair result. There is no doubt that Pacquiao is the bigger international superstar at the moment and is by far the more exciting fighter, but Floyd is an equally big draw because he’s also a crossover star and people would pay to see him lose.

As for the weight, there shouldn’t be much controversy. 147 pounds. Pacquiao may try to seek a Cotto-esque weight of 145, but as we have seen Mayweather’s fight with Marquez, Floyd doesn’t really care about the contracted weight restrictions. The weight should be a big advantage for Mayweather as we know that Manny maxes out at around 148 on fight night whereas Floyd, who refused to be re-weighed for the Marquez fight, should be at least 155.

Preliminary prediction

So assuming this megafight will happen some time around May 2010, it’s time to make a preliminary prediction.

I just want to preface this by saying that there is no point comparing the Manny Pacquaio of the past to the Manny Pacquiao of now. Too often I see people downplaying Pacquiao’s chances in this fight based on what happened to him more than 10 years ago (when he suffered 2 KO losses and a draw as a weight-drained Flyweight or Bantamweight) , against Erik Morales (who won their first encounter via decision but was knocked out in the 2 rematches), and against Juan Manuel Marquez (with whom Pacquiao had a draw and split decision win over, though both were questionable). Morales was Pacquiao’s last loss and it was more than 4 years ago when Pacquiao was at super featherweight (130 pounds). The two fights against Marquez were at featherweight (126 pounds) and super featherweight (130 pounds). Pacquiao is a true 140-147 pounder now, and he is much better at this weight. He has somehow managed to increase his speed, power and endurance, and he is now significantly more experienced, patient, and obedient when it comes to following Freddie Roach’s game plans. There’s just no comparison. If he fought the fat, old Marquez we saw against Mayweather now…well, I’ll let you draw your own conclusions.

As for the Pacquiao-Mayweather, it’s a tough call, but I see three possible scenarios. The first is that Floyd Mayweather Jr is simply too big and too skilled, and just outboxes Pacquiao with his superior reach and defense to claim an easy points decision victory, kind of in the same mould as the Marquez fight. Floyd has a 5 inch reach advantage (72-67) on Pacquiao, and is the naturally bigger man with phenomenal speed and an awkwardness that will frustrate any fighter. Pacquiao has never fought someone as quick, skilled and big as Mayweather, and it could prove to be a gap too wide.

However, I cannot see Floyd knocking out Pacquiao unless Manny loses his cool and is tagged by a big counter (like when Mayweather KO’ed Hatton). In his last few fights, Pacquiao has demonstrated a vastly improved defense and plenty of caution and discipline. He no longer jumps in recklessly and rarely leaves himself wide open, so the chances of a counter-punch KO are slim. Besides, Pacquiao showed in the Cotto fight that he can take a punch at welterweight. I have since watched the Cotto fight a couple more times, and Manny really got tagged with some nasty shots. Stiff jabs, jolting uppercuts, ripping body blows. And he took them all. Pacquiao had a busted ear drum to go with bad swelling from the fight. He could have used his trademark in-and-out style all night to beat Cotto but instead chose to stand his ground and take the shots head on. As he said, he wanted to test Cotto’s power, and he passed the test with flying colours. There is no way Mayweather hits harder than Cotto. With Floyd’s brittle hands, there’s just no way.

On the other hand, the second and third scenarios I see both have Manny Pacquiao emerging as the victor – either by unanimous decision or KO. Pacquiao has comparable hand speed to Mayweather and possibly better foot speed, and definitely more power. Floyd may be a defensive specialist, but Manny is an offensive specialist. I can see a situation where Pacquiao utilises his seemingly endless energy to pressure Mayweather all night and keep raining rapid combos down on him. Floyd may bob and weave and shoulder roll and block, but every blow that connects will count. Floyd may be fantastic at toying with guys that can only throw 1 or 2 punches at a time from orthodox angles, but it remains to be seen how he can handle someone like Pacquiao – a tireless freak with speed and power in both hands that attacks in 3, 4, 5, 6 punch combinations from angles you just don’t expect and don’t see coming (just ask Miguel Cotto).

This assessment is somewhat similar to what Freddie Roach said on ESPN: “Whatever Floyd gives us, we’ll take. Manny will [hit] him on the arms, the shoulders, wherever he can, and Mayweather will feel it. There’s no way Mayweather can win the fight running, and that’s what he does best.”

Zab Judah was probably the closest thing to Pacquiao that Mayweather has fought, but he was too undisciplined and has a soft jaw. And let’s not forget, Judah hit Mayweather with quite a few shots early on in that fight (including a genuine knockdown that wasn’t counted), but didn’t have the resiliency or stamina to carry it through to the end.

Jose Luis Castillo, who lost 2 decisions to Mayweather (the first of which some thought he won – though Mayweather had a shoulder injury at the time), sparred with Pacquiao in the lead up to the Cotto fight, and said that Pacquiao is faster and hits way harder than Mayweather. And this is the Pacquiao at 144 pounds compared to the Mayweather at lightweight (135 pounds). Maybe he’s still bitter about his first fight with Mayweather, but if there’s any truth to what Castillo said, then Mayweather could be in for a long night.

Accordingly, in my Pacquiao-wins scenario, if Floyd runs, I see him losing a decision. If he stands his ground, I see him getting knocked out.

So which of the 3 scenarios is most likely? At this stage I have to go what would appear to be the most unlikely – Pacquiao by KO! People may say that Mayweather’s style will give Pacquiao fits but the same could be said the other way around. If Pacquiao stays patient and keeps the pressure on and is disciplined with his approach, I think he can win. Otherwise it just means Floyd Mayweather Jr is really that good. And after watching some of Floyd’s past fights on YouTube, I would not be surprised if he is. The guy is truly amazing.

At the end of the day, I have a feeling that the Cotto fight will be the reason Pacquiao will win. Floyd took an easy fight in ‘lightweight’ Marquez, and Pacquiao took the hard fight in Cotto, and I believe that will ultimately be the difference.

** For those who don’t already know, Rugged Man is an emcee who recently OWNED Mayweather on radio for 20 minutes. Essentially, he took it right to Mayweather from the start about avoiding the big fights and said what has been on every non-Mayweather-ballhugger’s mind for years. YouTube ‘Rugged Man’ and ‘Mayweather’ and listen to it. It’s not only revealing but also extraordinarily hilarious.

After the Huge win against Miguel Cotto, Pacquiao is already looking for the next challenge. The most suitable person right now is Mayweather, as the boxing world is clamouring a fight between these two giants. Speculations of a possible fight has been looming and Mayweather has fueled these speculations by challenging Pacquiao to step to the plate.

Now, Manny Pacquiao who is arguably the greatest boxer at the moment has ended all speculations, confirming he wants to fight Mayweather. If this fight takes place (which is looking very likely), it is definitely going to be in line of one of the greatest boxing fights, with projected pay-per-view revenue set to top $120million.

Paulie Malignaggi hints that Manny Pacquiao might be on something After Manny Pacquiao’s impressive

Paulie Malignaggi hints that Manny Pacquiao might be on something

After Manny Pacquiao’s impressive KO victory of IBO light welterweight champion Ricky Hatton on May 2, 2009, Floyd Mayweather Sr. had accused Manny Pacquiao of taking steroids or enhancement drugs(Mayweather accuses Pacman of steroids).

Days Prior to Pacquiao’s fight with WBO welterweight Champion Miguel Cotto on Saturday Nov. 14, boxer Kermit Cintron also believed that the Pacman was on something(Cintron believes Pacman is on something).
After Manny Pacquiao’s dominating win over Miguel Cotto, a fight in which Pacquiao took all of Cotto’s best punches and shook them off even dropping Cotto twice in the fight, the rumors that the fighter could be taking steroids or performance enhancing drugs were in the air again, this time by former Cotto foe, Paulie “Magic Man” Malignaggi.

In an interview with BoxingScene, Paulie Malignaggi was discussing his upcoming HBO rematch on December 12th, with Juan Diaz, when the topic changed to the Pacquiao vs. Cotto fight, Malignaggi had this to say:

What did you think of Pacquiao’s win over Cotto?

Paulie Malignaggi: “ I think there is something up with Manny Pacquiao. I am not going to get into it. I think people will understand what I am saying. Full blown welterweights don’t take those type of punches from Miguel Cotto the way he took them with total disregard for his power nor do they hurt him with every punch they hit him with. These are full blown welterweights I am talking about. This guy is coming up in weight and doing all these things. There is something up with this guy but that’s as far as I am going to go into it. Floyd Mayweather (Senior) has gotten into it a little bit. There have been other fighters who have mentioned it. I am not going to get into no controversy. I am going to leave it at that. There is something that seriously makes me feel weird about Manny Pacquiao. I am going to leave it at that.”

Wonder what you would find if you frisked the fight between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Wonder what you would find if you frisked the fight between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. that was suppose to take place in New York or New Jersey?

Answer: High state taxes make the fight impossible.

I believe the boxing referee is counting down, because New York and New Jersey are definitely getting knocked out on this one:

It appears the Tax Man is about to do to Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. what Oscar de la Hoya, Ricky Hatton and Miguel Cotto could not.

Namely, knock both of them out.

Out of New York, that is. And New Jersey, too.

Poor Yankee Stadium and Meadowlands:

But last night, Arum dropped the hammer on the fight taking place anywhere east of the Mississippi River.

“No chance,” Arum said. “Nothing would please me more than to have it at Yankee Stadium, but the way the tax structure in New York is set up, it’s impossible.”

It appears the fight will be at Jerry Jones’ new $1 billion-plus Cowboys Stadium! Wonder what’s the tax difference between the liberal East Coast and conservative Texas? Easy, there’s a lot of difference:

The answer is, no state taxes in Texas and a ton of them in New York and New Jersey. According to Arum, the fighters could lose more than $12 million in taxes if the fight takes place in New York and slightly less if it winds up in the Meadowlands.

Arum said that between New York State and city taxes and a tax levied on nonresident independent contractors performing in New York, the fighters – and the promoter – would lose 15 percent of all revenue generated by the bout.

“It’s just not economically feasible to do events like that in New York,” Arum said. “It’s ridiculous, really.”

The bright blue states just received an uppercut of reality, because no one likes taxes! It appears the East Coast lost out on possibly one of the greatest fights, but don’t worry… Texans will enjoy ALL the benefits and business that will come with the match.

Side-Note: With taxes shooting up faster than a firework display on the 4th of July, boxing promoters aren’t the only ones keeping an eye on taxes. Carlos Boozer of the Utah Jazz has also voiced his concerns in regards to state taxes.

As liberals spend frantically, I’d expect more of these situations to pop up in the future. Mark my words.

So much has been written on the Internet about the exploits of the Filipino boxing phenom named Mann

So much has been written on the Internet about the exploits of the Filipino boxing phenom named Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao. His latest victory over a highly touted welterweight champion in Miguel Cotto is making the boxing world abuzz and about. It should be because there is that one other boxer who is more of a talker of sort. He makes bubbly pronouncements of his own greatness in the ring especially that zero under the loss column of his pugilistic resume. His name is Floyd “Money” Mayweather, Jr.

Pacman is the acknowledged number one pound-for-pound fighter in the world. His triumph against Cotto is his seventh world title in as many weight divisions. No other boxer has ever done that, and perhaps, there could be no other boxer who could do that at least in the next 50 years. He is already a sure entrant in the Boxing Hall of Fame and his name is already lined up among the great boxers of all time. He is arguably the face of boxing right now.

Floyd Jr was one time the acknowledged pound-for-pound king until he left the sport with a declaration that he has nothing more to prove. He beat some of the great champions in four different weight divisions and a few worthy challengers to his throne. He retired in 2007 and unretired in May 2009. Prior to his retirement, his record stood at a perfect 39 victories without any loss, 25 of those victories came by way of knockout. Then he returned to the ring last September and won a lopsided decision match against an obviously mismatched Juan Manuel Marquez. After the Marquez domination, Floyd claims to be still the number one pound-for-pound king.

As of the moment, Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather, Jr are both welterweights and are regarded by boxing experts as No. 1 and No. 2 pound-for-pound fighters in the world, respectively. The world is in pain clamoring for a face-off of the two best fighters of our time, and I believe, it will happen. There are, however, some issues to be clarified first before they go up the squared ring. The most important of these issues is MONEY.

Boxers get paid, champions get paid better, but the champion of champions gets paid the best. Who of the top two of boxing should get the lion’s share? Here are my thoughts.

Tradition. Tradition has it that the champion get the bigger share of the money pie. I cannot think of any mega-fight in which the challenger had the fatter check. Pacquiao has just snatched the WBO welterweight champion’s belt from Cotto. Mayweather has no champion’s belt. He won against Marquez but no belt was on the line. Pacman is the champion. Manny should get more money, considering tradition.

Credentials. Companies give the best payment to those with the best credentials. In fact, there are some professionals who transfer to the other competitor because they are willing to give him the higher pay considering his credentials. Examine the following credential comparison:

MANNY PACQUIAO FLOYD MAYWEATHER JR

Light flyweight (108 lbs) Super featherweight (130 lbs)

Flyweight (112 lbs) Lightweight (135 lbs)

Featherweight (122 lbs) Junior welterweight (140 lbs)

Super featherweight (128 lbs) Welterweight (147 lbs)

Lightweight (135 lbs) Light middleweight (154 lbs)

Junior Welterweight (140 lbs)

Welterweight (145 lbs)

In all these weight categories, both fighters won titles and became champions but Manny Pacquiao has more titles than Mr. Mayweather. Manny should get more money, considering credentials.

Pound-for-Pound Status. All sensible pound-for-pound lists have the Pacman at number 1. The Ring magazine, the so-called Bible of Boxing, lists Pacquiao at No. 1. BoxRec Boxing Records, a respected on-line boxing records website has Manny Pacquiao at No. 1. Yahoo!, one of the world’s leading websites ranks Manny as the No. 1 pound-for-pound fighter. There are a number of other similar lists and the consensus and consistent occupant of the No. 1 spot is the Pacman. Manny should get more money, considering pound-for-pound status.

Fame. It can be remembered that Mayweather got a smaller paycheck when he fought boxing’s Golden Boy, Oscar dela Hoya. While it is true that Floyd was at the time the No. 1 pound-for-pound boxer, his money was smaller because his fame was smaller compared with the Golden Boy. When Manny Pacquiao made Oscar quit on his stool in their fight, Manny became the new Golden Boy of boxing because he retired ODLH. He was featured in the front page of the Time magazine, something Floyd couldn’t pull off despite his unblemished record. And although not an American, Manny has been to a number of US television channels, not because he wanted to but because the TV channels wanted him. Floyd’s fame is a given in America because he’s American, but when a non-American can fill a very large American arena more than an American can, that says a lot about Manny’s fame. Manny should get more money, considering fame.

These four variables should be enough to show that Manny should have more money when he faces Floyd Mayweather, Jr. What’s your take on this? By the way, I don’t agree with the idea of a 50-50 split. My reasons are the same. Some have suggested a 45-45 split and the remaining 10 percent goes to the winner. This sounds fair enough but based on the reasons given above, I still believe Manny should get more money.

WOW – I cant wait for this one!

On Monday Floyd Mayweather Jr called out Manny Pacquiao in this video, stating that Manny had avoided the question “Do you want to fight Mayweather?” on several occasions. See the interview below:

But Manny has answered back to Floyd and issued this statement:

I thought the Pacquiao Vs Cotto fight at the weekend was one of the best I’ve seen this year and Manny looked to be in great form. However Mayweather’s comeback fight was a sheer masterclass in boxing and he really schooled Juan Manuel Marquez, so if this one goes ahead, I think it might just be one of the greatest fights of the decade!

50 Cent doesn’t make empty boasts. When the Queens rapper proclaimed, “I Run New York” on “I Get Money off his third LP, “Curtis,” he meant it wholeheartedly.

Still, the general consensus is that Jay-Z rules the big apple. But, to let 50 tell it, there’s only one king and he’s not from Marcy. During an upcoming episode of “Food for Thought: Conversations with 50 Cent,” the media assassin, Harry Allen simply asked, “Why is Jay-Z widely considered king of New York, and not you?”

“There’s not another artist in New York City that generates more interest than 50 Cent,” Fif told Allen. “If we go international, Jay-Z is Beyoncé’s husband. He became more popular and relevant based on the work that Matthew [Knowles] made Beyoncé do.”

In addition to Allen, the episode also features Hot 97 radio personality Angie Martinez and sports journalist Stephen A. Smith holding conversations with Fif on a wide range of topics, including his epic SoundScan showdown with Kanye West, what he learned in his relationship with Vivica A. Fox, his new CD, “Before I Self Destruct” and his income drop according to Forbes Magazine. Serving as interviewers, Allen, Martinez and Smith also held conversations with Jay-Z for the series’ premiere back in September.

In related news, 50 is set to co-host 106 & Park with Rocsi for a three-day run starting this Thursday (November 19). He’ll then return the following Monday (November 23) and Tuesday (November 24).

“Food for Thought: Conversations with 50 Cent” premieres Thursday November 19 at 7:30 PM on BET.

The Super PacMan lives up to his name! Congratulations to Manny Pacquiao on his win against Miguel Cotto last Saturday at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. Faster than a speeding bullet, Pacquiao’s speed and agility seemed to be unstoppable; leaving no mercy on Cotto.

“Manny Pacquiao is one of the best boxers I ever fought,” Cotto said.

But the real question is: When will there be a Pacquiao vs. Mayweather fight? Mayweather might have some second thoughts after Paquiao has done what no fighter has done before. Moving up from 106 lbs to 144 and winning a belt in a seventh weight class, this Filipino boxer proves why he is the best pound-for-pound figher in the world.

“This is the last weight division for me,” Pacquiao said. “It’s history for me and more importantly a Filipino did it.”

…We haven’t seen this level of excitement in boxing since Tyson rolled through 1st-round

…We haven’t seen this level of excitement in boxing since Tyson rolled through 1st-rounders like it was NBA draft night in New York City!!! The boy is bad, no questions about it! Admittedly as a fan who shrugged at Pacquiao’s size in comparison to his much bigger opponent, I took his strength for granted; assuming that the much bigger Miguel Cotto would stomp the six division speedster with “the greatest of ease,” which would put Cotto back on top after being mugged by Antonio Margarito… I figured this fight would then set up a face-off with Mayweather (maybe March ‘10); a fight that should’ve happened after De la Hoya & before Ricky Hatton put #38 and #39 on Floyd’s undefeated record…

But you can scratch that now!! Cotto will ‘maybe’ fight Andre Berto, or perhaps take a rematch with Shane Mosely after they complete their January business with each other… Unfortunately for the event planners at Madison Square Garden who were looking to book Miguel the night of the “Puerto Rican Day” Parade, there doesn’t seem to be many options for him. Pac-Man on the other hand has solidified himself as one of (if not the) greatest southpaw of this generation; a resume which includes titles in 7-different weight-class, putting him amongst the most internationally fan-friendly & ferocious closers in the history of boxing!

BUT… there’s another guy out there who’s also fighting for his place in history… I’m not going to dive to deep into that, in the interest of saving space for a later blog post, but most will agree that this is perhaps the most exciting era of boxing in the welterweight division since the 1980’s. Perhaps 2010 will give us Cotto versus the winner of Mosely & Berto, probably Mayweather vs. Pacquiao early Spring, then maybe Mosely/Mayweather, or Pacquaio/Mosely… Throw in Joshua Clottey vs. Berto, maybe De la Hoya/Mayweather II late Fall… The possibilities are endless!!

I’ll expand on this later, but the scope of the division is continuously evolving. There’s no question that all roads lead through Floyd Mayweather… But right now, Team Pacquiao is something like demolition crew!!

Just a thought; more later this week.

Ok…wow…i try not to do the same posts as alot of other bloggers (which is easier said then done lol) but I was in class when a friend email me a link to this story and I couldn’t help but put it on my blog. There is SOOO many things I can say about these pics but imma take a different approach (click on the pics to enlarge)

Dear Mr. Rick Ross, Wanna-be the Boss,

Imma need you to go get your family because one, no real respectable, black man that has even an ounce of pride would let another man (in this case 2) embrass him to this degree. My main question that I have is why won’t you be a man and do your fatherly duties? Even before you was beefing with 50 you wasn’t taking care of your kids. You need to not worry about 50 or Floyd and get your family situation together. A real BOSS wouldn’t abandon his kid and stop providing to make a point to his babymama. A real BOSS would put aside all the Bullsh*t that comes with having babymama’s or babydaddy’s and give your kid everything he/she deserves. Its men like you that give BLACK MEN everywhere a bad image and WE GOT TO DO BETTER…

Ok enough of my preaching lol…thats jus my opinion feel free to express yours…
