<p>Why the hell one should change their best positioning statement ? Every one loved the &#8221; thanda &#8221; campaign, there were rave reviews about Aamir and Coke. People looked forward to the next Aamir avatar &#8230;&#8230;&#8230;</p>

<p>Then it was a surprise.. there is no thanda but some blabbering about drinking coke &#8221; Sar Utha ke?</p>
<p>Coke never had good time with respect to its advertising in India. Never in their second life in India, they have delivered good campaigns. Pepsi always scored with their campaigns like&#8221; Ye dil maange more&#8221; Yehi hai right choice baby&#8221;, &#8221; Nothing official about it&#8221;.</p>
<p>Then came the Thanda matlab &#8220;Coca- Cola&#8221; campaign which blew the hell out of Pepsi. Well how can anyone own some thing like &#8221; Thanda&#8221;. Similar to XEROX, Coke was trying to own a whole category as such.</p>
<p>Then Coke changed the campaign , Why? I don&#8217;t have the answer may be the creatives in McCann may have it.  The current campaign speaks nothing. I use a straw to drink Coke, so how can I drink coke sar Utha ke? Most of the time when I tried drinking directly from the bottle, I had encountered some unpleasant taste of &#8220;rust&#8221; from the cap of the bottle. What about the South Indians and othe non Hindi speaking consumers? Will they be impressed by the base line?</p>
<p>An opportunity lost for Coke . they had one BIG IDEA in &#8221; Thanda Matlab Coca-Cola &#8220;and they blew it off</p>

<p>Here&#8217;s something that might help avenge <a href="http://thatswhatimsayingguy.wordpress.com/2009/11/11/jeter-gets-another-undeserved-gold-glove/#comments">the travesty of Derek Jeter winning a Gold Glove</a>: Aaron Hill and Adam Lind were named Silver Slugger Award winners yesterday. The awards, voted on by coaches around the league, are handed out to the players with the best &#8220;overall offensive value&#8221; at each position.</p>
<p>Of course, this also leaves me feeling slightly better about an otherwise horrible Jays season, though still not too optimistic about the one we&#8217;re about to embark on next April. At least we have our two mashers, though &#8212; Lind, who hit .305/.370/.562 (AVG/OBP/SLG) with 35 homers and 114 RBIs in 2009, may be in for a move to first base <a href="http://thatswhatimsayingguy.wordpress.com/2009/11/08/overbay-may-be-on-the-move/">if Alex Anthopolous is able to move Lyle Overbay</a>, while Hill (.286/.330/.499, 36 and 108) will keep doing his thing at second base.</p>
<p>Anyway, here&#8217;s the full list of Silver Sluggers:</p>
<p><strong>American League:</strong> Joe Mauer (C), Mark Texeira (1B), Hill (2B), Evan Longoria (3B), Jeter (SS), Jason Bay (OF), Torii Hunter (OF), Ichiro Suzuki (OF) and Lind (DH). (Note how six of the nine were Gold Glovers, further supporting the assumed theory that the awards are given out to the best fielders that can hit. Does this mean Lind automatically becomes a Gold Glove contender?)</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>   Unlike my fellow blogger, Jason, who is packing up his stuff and heaving home at his internship, it is becoming all the more apparent that I might never leave the halls of NBC.</p>
<p>   Today, my boss, Gabe Pressman, asked me to extend my internship through the new year. While yes, I often use this blog to complain about being an unpaid intern, I must admit that I am very very tempted. I feel at home here. I feel that when I come into work the work that I do, however mundane it may seem at the time, does make a difference. I love hanging out with David Ushery, Bruce Beck, Lynn Berry and all of the other reporters here at News Channel 4. Though I told Gabe that I would have to think about it, it seems that perhaps my mind is already made up.</p>
<p>As the semester flies by, I can&#8217;t help but reflect on the past few months. I&#8217;ve gotten into a routine here in New York. I&#8217;ve been able to navigate the subway system, find my niche in the East Village, and have started a very serious love affair with MUD coffee. I don&#8217;t want the semester to end. Getting a taste of what live might be like post graduation, I dont know how I&#8217;ll adjust to being back in the classroom, in good old poughkeepsie. I dont want to trade in dinner at a Jazz Club for Lean Cuisines, the brisk walk to Astor Place substituted only by the sporadic walk to McCann.</p>
<p>Marist has it&#8217;s place in my heart, a place that will never fade. However, as the semester goes on, I&#8217;m starting to find, the more ready I am to say goodbye.</p>

Filmen ble vist på britisk kino, og delt med den store verden på nett. <em>Boy</em> ble raskt både sett og diskutert av et bredt publikum, og slett ikke alle likte det de så. Men før vi går løs på kritikken &#8211;</p>
<p>Her, damer og herrer, er filmen (<em>må sees med lyd</em>):</p>

<p>Ja, den er grusom.</p>
<p>Reaksjonene kom umiddelbart. Reklamefilmen ble lagt ut på bloggen <a href="http://osocio.org/message/msf_we_cant_operate_without_your_help">Osocio</a>, som samler markedsføringskampanjer fra NGOer over hele verden, og publikum var <a href="http://osocio.org/message/msf_we_cant_operate_without_your_help/">sinna, sjokkert, begeistret, irritert og oppskaket.</a> </p>
<p>Både reklameselskapet og MSF fikk masse kjeft, og egentlig ikke så mye skryt.</p>
<p>Jeg skal ikke gå gjennom all kritikken (anbefaler interesserte å lese diskusjonen på Osocio), men vil nevne noen  momenter som gikk igjen hos flere:</p>
<li><em>Manipulerende</em> &#8211; flere mente filmens var for grusom, og gikk for langt i å manipulere følelsene til seeren</li>
<li><em>Deprimerende</em> &#8211; andre mente filmen kun velta seg i elendighet, og ikke tilbød noen løsning</li>
<li><em>Handlingslammende</em> &#8211; følger opp forrige, men folk sa at filmen presenterer en så desperat skjebne at verken seeren eller MSF kan gjøre noe med den</li>
<li><em>Endimensjonal</em> &#8211; presenterer Afrika/Asia som et sted med blodtørstige gærninger, og vesten som et sted med uselviske hjelpere</li>
<li><em>Stigmatiserende</em> &#8211; samme som over: Fordi vi ikke får vite hvor dette er, oppleves det som et bilde på det store &#8220;mørke kontinent&#8221;</li>
<li><em>Falsk</em> &#8211; historien er oppdiktet, lydfilen er spilt inn i studio, settingen er konstruert.</li>
<p><strong><br />
De få som likte filmen, mente den var:</strong></p>
<li><em>Sterk</em> &#8211; flere skriver at filmen &#8220;treffer&#8221; dem, selv om den er rå</li>
<li><em>Ekte</em> &#8211; hvorfor skjule virkeligheten? spør noen. Om verden virkelig er slik, har vi bare godt av å bli utsatt for slike inntrykk &#8212; selv om de er ytterst ubehagelige</li>
<li><em>Kompromissløs</em> &#8211; vi vet at dette skjer, og at MSFs ansatte opplever det. Hvorfor skal de formidle en verden som henger sammen når det finnes så dype flenger som dette?</li>
<li><em>Engasjerende</em> &#8211; de som sier filmen er sterk og ekte mener også at den vekker engasjement. Rett og slett fordi nåtiden som vises fram er uutholdelig</li>
<p>Både kritikken og støtten kom fra et bredt sett av hjelpearbeidere, reklamefolk, mødre, fedre og andre engasjerte. </p>
<p>MSF UK hadde i forkant oppfordret publikum til å komme med tilbakemeldinger og vurderinger av filmen, og flere av de ansatte i MSF deltok også i ordskiftet som oppstod etter lanseringen. Der viste det seg at heller ikke alle MSF-ansatte likte filmen. </p>
<p>Mye kan imidlertid tyde på at publikum ble tatt på alvor. I dag kom nemlig oppfølgeren til <em>Boy</em>. Her er: </p>

So, here’s my latest hate fuckbag.</p>
<p><strong>The Madeleine disappearance;</strong> The entire worlds WTF moment.<br />
Earlier today I was downstairs watching the news, as always. I can’t miss the news, people! And there she was, the same stupid picture I’ve seen over 30 000 times the last two years since her disappearance in may 2007. Now there’s another update where the Swedish police proclaim that there’s no evidence of her being at car show. (?)</p>
<p>Why in the world can’t people shut up about this higher middleclass child, when the she&#8217;s just been subjected to terrible parenting? (quick backtrack) She was left alone in a hotel room, with an open window. &#8220;We can’t make it too hard for burglars and thieves to break in to this apartment on the main floor!&#8221; &#8211; like</p>
<p>Jesus. And her parents weren’t even at the hotel when this happened. They were on a restaurant about 50 meters away, oblivious of anything at all.</p>
<p>But to me, that’s not the worst thing; to this day, there’s about 10 000 disappearances all over Europe every day. And that’s just for kids from 1 year to 15 year olds. To me, it’s absurd that this; 6 year old English girl from Rothley gets this kind of attention. Why isn’t the rest of the 9 999 kids getting a share of this attention?</p>
<p>I was reading up on this for a while and got a few fun facts:<br />
- Portuguese police initially thought that Kate McCann killed Madeleine and used the kidnapping as a cover up.<br />
- Exactly one day after Kate McCann was marked as a suspect, the Portuguese police went on to put Madeleines dad; Gerry (douche name) McCann, on the suspect list.<br />
- They were of course eliminated from this list in July 2008, BUT, and here comes the fun facts:</p>
<p>- While on the suspect list of an ongoing investigation, people such as:</p>
<blockquote><p>- Pope Benedict XVI<br />
- David (idiot) Beckham<br />
- Christiano Ronaldo<br />
- J. K. Rowling (author of Harry Potter)</p></blockquote>
<p>Gave the family the full support, and a Ton of media coverage. But to me this just put the entire thing in a strange light and makes me ask, what if they turned out to be just as the Portuguese police predicted? What would mr. Pope Benedict do then?</p>
<p>“I, Pope Benedict XVI, must excuse my prior statements of support towards the McCann family, since it turns out they are murderous bastards!”?</p>
<p>I mean, I wasn’t much surprised when it came to people like David (idiot) Beckham, he’s as dumb as a light post, but come on, the father figure of all Catholics on the entire globe? That’s a bit more than a cuddly yank in the ropes, don’t you people think? Then again, when I started reading a little portion more of the wikipedia and “collective support branch” of their support sites, I soon realized that this goes way deeper then I originally thought.</p>
<p>Because; there’s a fucking economical side to all this.</p>
<p>24.06.2007 ca. 17:25 o’ clock there were a news story that caught my eyes:<br />
The French police (which obviously also works with this case (WTF does the French have to do with this?)) fear that Madeleine might be sold, and as it follows &#8220;a victim to human trafficking&#8221;. But let’s backtrack.</p>
<p>in September 2007 the News Of The World paper in England promised a 2.5 million pound pay out to the person that could lead the police to the lost kid. Let me just convert that to dollar, to let the rednecks know how freaking much money we’re talking about: 2 500 000 UK£ = 4.11175 million U.S. dollars. That’s a fuckload of money!</p>
<p>And think as a criminal now.<br />
How much would this girl be worth?<br />
She’s not old, she’s only 6-7 years old, she’s wanted all over the world, she’s easily recognizable, she’s able to speak perfect English and is able to realize that she’s been taken from her parents. And then you think about how hard it would be to move her around? Get stopped by any cop in any country in Europe and she’d be instantly recognized? You won’t be able to get any kind of good money for her at all!</p>
<p>After all, she&#8217;s been &#8220;seen&#8221; over 130 000 times the last two years all over the world. From Rio de Janeiro to Göteborg!</p>
<p>But, hide her in a cabbin and talk to the News Of The World paper in England; tell them you know where she is, and Hey! paycheck on 4,2 million USD!</p>
<p>I mean, how ridiculous does this thing need to be?</p>
<p>And I must conclude my rant of hatred with these words:</p>
<p>I HATE celebrities that just feel the need to show support for things the don’t have any fucking clue about, just because “it looks good”.<br />
I HATE corporate media, gobbling up anything they can make money on,<br />
and I HATE when people walk around talking about how concerned they are about this, and don’t realize how ignorant they are of the other 9 999 kids that disappeared that particular day.</p>
<h4>10 959 999<span style="color:#000000;"> kids have disappeared in Europe since the Madeleine incident. And you thought you cared? </span></h4>
<p>If the answer is yes, then you can go and hide your head up your ass where it belongs.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>Last August 1, 2009 we were able to see the results of the McCann online study. The study spanned different countries and surveyed a large number of people who use the internet. The surprising thing is that online Filipinos, who just comprise a very small percentage of the whole population, are very heavy internet users. This has been supported by the fact that even though other countries have bigger populations and therefore more internet users, the Philippines still ranked no. 1 in different categories. These categories include social networking and uploading photos, just to name a few. Generally the Philippines also rank high in other categories, such as in uploading videos and blog readership.</p>
<p>Blogging is also something that is entrenching deep roots in the Philippines. A lot of the respondents of McCann&#8217;s survey read and write blogs ( at 90.3% and 65.8% respectively), and I myself know some bloggers and saw that indeed there is a growing community of bloggers.</p>
<p>These are all statistics that I heard in that lesson, and I wondered what its relevance to me was. I thought about it, and I realized some things. One is that the Filipinos are very heavy internet users, despite the fact that the internet reach is not that high in the country. It really shows how Filipinos really love socializing and what not, and how they really utilize the available channels online in order to reach their loved ones and friends, and to make new connections. For example, I think that one reason why the Filipinos ranked highest in uploading photos is the fact that there are Filipinos all over the world, like OFWs, and one way of connecting with your loved ones is to share with them pictures of different events and people that they know. That&#8217;s one thing that we do in our family, since my father is in the Middle East.</p>
<p>At the end of the day, Web 2.0 is just a plethora of channels that can be utilized by people in order to go about their daily business. What I saw in this lesson is that the Filipinos truly utilize the social media available at their fingertips. The sad thing about it is that this could be better if there will be greater internet access for the rest of the Filipinos. Until that day comes, internet-savvy Filipinos  will continue to grow and use the technology that they have to improve their lives, and ultimately, their country.</p>

<p>This new <strong>Verizon</strong> commercial released by <strong>McCann Worldgroup</strong> has generated buzz not only on tv, but virally as well.  Consumers have liked this ad so much that they took it upon themselves to post it on <strong>youtube</strong>.  The high attraction is due to their spoof on <strong>Apple&#8217;s iPhone</strong> &#8216;There&#8217;s an app for that&#8217; campaign altering it to &#8216;There&#8217;s a map for that&#8217; showing Verizon&#8217;s superior network coverage.  It&#8217;s quick, straight to the point, clever, and entertaining &#8211; everything that any commercial should be!  What do you think of this approach?  And do consumers view traditional commercials spread online differently than viral videos made specifically for online distribution?</p>

<p>Plakat nie powala, choć jego estetyka wywołuje pozytywne wrażenia. Niestety tego typu pomysłów jest wiele &#8211; przykładowo motyw &#8220;linii/dźwięku&#8221; został wykorzystany do przedstawienia audiobooków dla Penguin Books (wpis w archiwum). Tutaj mamy trzy kontrastowe kolory, dwa z nich mówią o skali fal dźwiękowych.</p>
<p>Ciekawsze od spraw wizualnych okazuje się hasło <strong>&#8220;audiobook.no-lines&#8221;</strong>. &#8220;no&#8221; to nic innego jak domena Norwegii, czyli zaznaczenie pochodzenia sklepu z książkami dźwiękowymi. Poza tym, owe hasło to kombinacja słowna, kierująca nas do nazwy sklepu. W miejsce &#8220;lydbokforlaget&#8221; wstawiono &#8220;audiobook&#8221;. I wiadomo o jaki produkt chodzi.</p>

That&#8217;s exactly what Universal Mccann had in mind. In fact, the organization conducted a social media study covering 29 countries (in Wave 3*) and 38 countries (in Wave 4**), both of which include the Philippines. In fact, Universal Mccann shows how Filipino Internet users grew from <strong>3.3 million to 4.2 million</strong> in about a year—the different between Universal Mccann’s Wave 3 study (completed in March 2008) and Wave 4 study (completed in March 2009). By March 2009, the Internet has reached <strong>21.5% percent penetration</strong> in the Philippines.</p>

<p>Let’s put this into perspective:</p>
<p><strong>Uploading Videos</strong></p>

<p>From 60.13%, 67.51% of Filipino Internet users have uploaded videos in the Internet. If you are one of the people who have uploaded a video in your profile, that makes you one of the 33% of active Internet users who have uploaded a video in their profile—a stark difference from the previous Wave, where only 16.9% of the entire Internet population  have tried uploading a video.</p>

<p>That’s not very surprising—with the way Filipinos love uploading videos about basically anything. From learning <a href="http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=how%20to%20be%20Filipino&#38;search=Search&#38;sa=X&#38;oi=spell&#38;resnum=0&#38;spell=1">how to be  a Filipino</a> to <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hMnk7lh9M3o">dancing inmates</a>, Filipinos would upload anything and everything. And let’s not forget the fact that Halili’s scandal seeped to the public through a video upload.</p>
<p>What this statistic shows is that Filipinos are beginning  to contribute content to video sharing websites at an increasing rate. In fact, it is oe of the most remarkably improved&#8211;only next to Korea, that is.</p>
<p><strong>Watching Videos</strong></p>
<p><strong> </strong></p>
<p>When it comes to watching videos, Filipinos take the top spot—98.1% have already watched a video. That means about 4.12 million Filipinos have watched a video in Youtube, Google Video or one of the many video sharing sites.</p>

With the way Filipinos absolutely love watching television, it’s not surprising they’ve carried the same practice online. In fact, there are plenty of website that air television shows in the Philippines, one of which is <a href="http://www..pinoychannel.tv">www.pinoychannel.tv</a>. <p><strong>Blog Readership</strong></p>

<p>When it comes to reading blogs—otherwise known as online journals—how exactly do Filipinos fare? Mccann’s Wave 4 doesn’t mention the changes in the  blog readership of the Filipinos, but the statistic in Wave 3 give enough information as to how much Filipinos love reading blogs.</p>
<p>As a matter of fact, Filipinos are only second South Korea when it comes to reading blogs. The statistics of blog readership is in proportion to the total number of Internet users in that country.</p>

<p>One of the greatest proofs of the bloggers’ clout in the Philippines are blog organizations like Bloggers Kapihan and Cebu Bloggers Society. The <a href="http://www.philippineblogawards.com.ph/">Philippine Blog Awards</a>, also, remain to be one of the major events where popular bloggers gather.  Perhaps this also explains why companies are beginning to tap into bloggers for publicity. An example of this is the <a href="http://blogs.inquirer.net/blogaddicts/2008/01/14/trinoma-taps-food-bloggers/">Trinoma Blogger&#8217;s Tour</a>.</p>
<p><strong>Social Networking</strong></p>
<p>83.1% of Filipino Internet users belong to social networking sites&#8211;the highest ration in any other country. That&#8217;s fairly unsurprising to me.  In the Philippines, two social networking sites (Facebook and Friendster) are among the <a href="http://www.alexa.com/topsites/countries/PH">top 3 sites in the Philippines</a>. Multiply is the ninth, while Twitter is the eleventh. Filipino companies are also beginning to enter the sphere of social networking sites and applying traditional advertising principles (ie., banners in social networking sites) in these sites. This statistic also explains why Filipinos constantly trend in Twitter&#8217;s trending topics.</p>

<p>Universal Mccann tells us that only 4.2 million Filipinos&#8211;21.5% of our total population&#8211;are in the Internet. That makes us the fourth lowest country when it comes to Internet penetration.</p>

<p>Personally speaking, I find 21.5% Internet penetration as just too low a percentage. That&#8217;s why I checked the areas covered by the Universal Mccann study, the areas shaded with red:</p>

<p>If you examine closely, only two areas of the Philippines are shaded red: a part in Luzon and Mindanao. Does this immediately eliminate Internet users in other places in the country, like Visayas or Southern Mindanao? If yes, then a big portion of active Internet users in the Philippines may have been discounted.</p>

<p>What Mccann&#8217;s study proves is that, given the number of people in the Philippines included in their research, Filipinos are truly active Internet users in more ways than one. Moreover, it also calls for an in-depth study about Internet use in the Philippines&#8211;that which will give a clearer and more solid insight on how active Filipinos use the Internet. Will such an in-depth study be helpful at all? If companies really want to look more into the behavior of Filipino Internet users, then yes, it is.</p>
<p>The results showed by Universal Mccann for the areas that they covered are promising, what more if a study applies to the entire Philippines? Since the country is an archipelago, it will help companies determine where to concentrate their social media efforts.</p>

Det er både spennende og lærerikt &#8211; og jeg trives godt. Prosjekt NEMO som jeg nå er en del av lanseres en gang i november, og det er føst da jeg har lov til å si mer om denne saken!</p>
<p>Det som i alle fall er sikkert, er at prosjektet går bra og at resultatet blir supert! Jeg er spent på å lese om folks reaksjoner når vi går &#8216;Live&#8217;!</p>

Detective Dave Edgar believes she <strong>could be in a secret lair</strong> like the place kidnap victim <strong>Jaycee Dugard </strong>was held. “Maddy is most likely being held captive, possibly in an underground cellar, and could emerge at any time,”  he said.  Source: Independent (UK)</p>
<p><strong>This is what happens</strong> to jailed rapists and accomplices – and probably <strong>would happen to Nancy, wife of  Phillip Garrido.</strong> Cons consider rapists the lowest of their kind and <strong>enjoy torturing and &#8216;fixing&#8217; them:</strong></p>
<p>&#8216;Nancy Garrido has been placed in isolation after other inmates <strong>threatened to rape and kill her, </strong>sources tell CBS News. Like her <strong>husband, Phillip, Garrido</strong> is charged with 29 felonies stemming from the kidnapping and imprisonment of Jaycee Dugard. Though she’s expected to seek bail, it’s unlikely to be granted, analysts say. Sources say Garrido is “very lonely” in jail, and spends her time reading the bible.</p>
<p>&#8216;“In a prison system there is a certain <strong>code of morality,”</strong> says one prosecutor, “and this type of crime ranks at the very, very bottom. So it doesn&#8217;t shock me either one of them has been threatened.” The Garridos <strong>profess to be religious;</strong> a CBS correspondent says that, while in prison for rape 30 years ago, Phillip Garrido refused a transfer to a mental hospital so that he could continue his religious studies.&#8217; —Kevin Spak  SOURCE: CBS News </p>
