Who wouldn't love a guy that gets a standing ovation? Alex Gonzalez is coming back to Toronto. O

Who wouldn't love a guy that gets a standing ovation?

Alex Gonzalez is coming back to Toronto. Okay, okay not that Alex Gonzalez. A day after signing Johnny Mac to a two-year, $3 million deal, ESPN.com is reporting the Jays have also agreed to a one-year, $2.75 million contract with the other Alex Gonzalez, who hit .238 with eight homers in 112 games with Cincinnati and Boston last year.

Like his namesake, Gonzalez is also a shortstop, so his signing all but ends the Marco Scutaro era in Toronto, which, as I implied yesterday, is fine by me. Don’t get me wrong — Scutaro is cool and all, but at age 34 and coming off a career-year, he’s due to get waaaay overpaid. I’ll gladly let someone else do that.

Gonzalez will be 33 on Opening Day, having kicked around the majors since breaking in with Florida in 1998. He hit 23 homers in 2003 and added a walk-off in the World Series, which the Marlins won that year, and hit 16 and .272 as recently as 2007 before missing all of the following year with a broken kneecap. Since leaving Florida in 2006, he’s had a pair of stints in Boston and spent two seasons in Cincinnati.

Also of note (and kind of sadly), Gonzalez has a three-year-old son in Miami that’s been in a coma for two years. That really, really sucks. Anyway, all the best to the new man in town, both on and especially off the field.

Description (page 121)

If you are interested in any of these files then please contact the Provincial Archives of New Brunswick.

“The documents in this series were kept by two brothers, William Henry Street and John Ambrose Sherman Street, who were born in Burton, Sunbury County, the sons of Hon. Samuel Deny Street and Abigail Freeman. They were educated at public schools in Burton and Fredericton.

William Henry Street was born April 11, 1793. After completing his education, he engaged in the mercantile business in Saint John. He was twice mayor of Saint John (1835-1836 and 1848-1849) and served in the militia. In the General Election of 1842, he ran for Saint John City and, after protest, was awarded the seat. He sat until the dissolution of the House in 1846 when he retired from politics. W.H. Street was married twice: in 1824 to Mary Bruce, and in 1847 to Sarah Boyd Orr. He died in Saint John on April 4, 1875.

John Ambrose Sherman Street was born September 22, 1795. He studied in his father’s law office and was admitted to the New Brunswick Bar on February 22, 1817. He practiced law at Chatham, Northumberland County, and in 1823 married Jane Isabella Hubbard. He was elected to the Assembly as a Conservative member for Northumberland County at a by-election in 1833. He sat in the House almost continuously until his defeat in 1856. He then moved to Fredericton and unsuccessfully ran for York County in 1861 and 1865. He was made a member of the Executive Council in 1851, and served as Attorney-General until 1854. He died in 1865.

The Street Records pertain to the legal and business affairs of the brothers. The material is catalogued alphabetically according to client’s name. The types of documents found here include: indentures, deeds, declarations, bonds, assignments, correspondence, and leases. The material dates from 1812 to 1863. This series measures 9 centimeters.”

Looks like Johnny Mac is gonna be back for another go-round Here’s some good news for Jays fan

Here’s some good news for Jays fans shocked and hurt by the imminent Roy Halladay trade: ESPN.com’s Buster Olney reports the team is close to bringing back some standout shortstop named John McDonald on a one-year deal worth $1.5 million.

With contending out of the question for the next 47 years, re-signing Johnny Mac makes sense. With a host of young pitchers, why not get the best defensive shortstop in the world to make their lives easier? Of course, a Mac signing also makes it less likely Marco Scutaro won’t be back in black in 2010, leaving another team to grossly overpay him. Fine by me — I’ll take the draft picks (just make sure you sign them, Alex Anthopolous Ricciardi Jr.).

Meanwhile, in Halladay news, ESPN also reports the Red Sox are aggressively pushing for his services, saying they’re “putting on a full-court press” and hope to get a deal done before the winter meetings get rolling Dec. 7. Not sure if it’s the best idea to deal Doc within the decision, but a package including Clay Buchholz and Josh Bard might be the best we see. Let’s see what happens!

There is virtually noone in the industrialized world who has not been to McDonald’s at least once in his or her lifetime. The global market leader on fast food has recently shared its view on Social Media Marketing Strategy and what it means for McDonald’s and how they want to become market leader in this area as well.

Heather Oldani, U.S. Communications Director at McDonald’s, has shared McDonald’s Social Media Marketing Strategy and is a must-read for CMO’s.

Important to McDonald’s are the following key learnings:

Ask yourself…”How can we actively engage” vs “Should we engage?”

Walk before running…Develop the right strategy for your brand vs leaping into tactical activation

Collaborate…Social media has potential for a number of different departments within a company

Be flexible/nimble…Some new trend that has the potential to impact your brand is always around the corner

Be open to feedback…Everyone has an opinion about your brand, products, services so be open and willing to listen

It is interesting to see the different means used in collaboration with each other, from Twitter to Facebook to their own HUB.

Congratulations to Heather in achieving this great social strategy.

A McDonald’s in downtown Manhattan became the first in the U.S. this fall to undergo a sleek, Europe

A McDonald’s in downtown Manhattan became the first in the U.S. this fall to undergo a sleek, European-style makeover similar to what McDonald’s has done at thousands of outlets around in France and the United Kingdom.

The eatery is outfitted with outlets for plugging in laptops, upholstered vinyl chairs instead of Fiberglas seats bolted to the floor, subdued lighting and employees whose all-black uniforms suggest a hip boutique.

Franchise owner Paul Hendel said customers have settled down in a restaurant not known for patrons lingering over lunch.

“We’re becoming a more relevant type of restaurant for the younger crowd,” he said. “They don’t feel rushed. They’re reading the newspaper, relaxed.”

McDonald’s Corp. spokeswoman Danya Proud said that while thousands of the chain’s 14,000 restaurants have been updated over the last few years, the Chelsea location is the first “urban redesign” in the U.S. She said “we’ll continue to evaluate” whether more might follow.

Proud said the redesign was intended “to give our customers more of a reason to make McDonald’s a destination.”

“People are using our restaurants differently today than they did five, 10, 20 years ago,” she said. “People are multi-tasking, doing more on a given day. … You want to be able to open your laptop, log on and get some work done while you’re eating.”

KEDAULATAN DAN GLOBALISASI Lupakan kedaulatan Sultan Perak. Lupakan kedaulatan Raja-Raja. Semua ini

KEDAULATAN DAN GLOBALISASI

Lupakan kedaulatan Sultan Perak. Lupakan kedaulatan Raja-Raja.

Mesti borong! mesti borong! Mesti kena sapu semua nih.

Kabal-kabal Illuminati saban hari merancang.

(TT)

Image via Wikipedia

The number 7…

What does that number mean to you?

Maybe it means….

The number of days in a week…

Or

The number of digits in your telephone number?

Or

The number letter combination for your license plate?

In this case, the number 7 will mean much more to you than you might think.

It’s actually a small part of an even larger number of harmful synthetic chemicals that can be found in common everyday items that you use to make yourself beautiful.

Some of these items include:

Mascara

Concealar

Blush

Eyeliner

Lip Gloss

And yes, these are products that are normally used by women for improving their beauty.

But don’t brush them off to the side by saying that this is something that only relates to beauty products because these same items can also be found in other everyday items such as:

Tooth paste

Deodorant’s

Soaps.

Shampoo’s

Shaving cream

Conditioners

After shave

Mouth wash

And feminine spray

This of course is just the tip of the iceberg.

For example, did you know that some of your most common products that you put onto your skin you are also eating?

Here’s what’s meant by that statement.

You don’t eat them directly.

They actually enter your body in another way.

These chemicals are absorbed into the skin and get into your blood.

This process of absorption of the chemicals by your skin is what allows them to make their way into your blood and work their way to the other vital parts of your body.

The only other way for these chemicals to accomplish this is through digestion.

The end result is the same as if you had actually eaten them.

Do I have your attention yet?

Good…

Because there’s more.

Here is a list of 7 synthetic chemicals that can be found in items currently in your household.

Aha’s(Alpha Hydroxy Acids, i,e., Lactic and Others) Ever Tried To Burn Away The Top Layer Of Your Skin? I Know, That Sounds Silly Right? But It’s Not. It’s exactly What You’re Doing When You Use Products Containing These…

This removes the outer layer of the skin, it burns away your top skin layer and can cause keloids.

Albumin – Products Containing This Are Often Sold As Wrinkle Removers, But That’s Not True… Here’s What You Didn’t Know..

This film causes skin to suffocate and hold more waste. It temporarily covers wrinkles, but it doesn’t remove wrinkles.

Aluminum – Does Anyone In Your Family Suffer From Alzheimers Disease?…Then This One Element Might Be The Cause..

This as you know is a metallic element used to make pots, pans, cans, motors, aircraft components, prosthetic devices, and etc. This blocks blood flow. Causes Alzheimer’s because it can cause the brain’s blood vessels to get clogged.

Animal Fat (Tallow) – When Was The Last Time You Put Mutton Fat On Your Skin To Make It Smooth? Well, You Do Every Time You Use Products Containing This…

Oily solids/semisolids. Makes the skin slippery and smooth, but it doesn’t make the skin smooth or soft. It can breed bacteria. Tallow is a rendered form of beef or mutton fat, processed from suet.

Bentonite – Giving Yourself That Next Facial Mask Just Might Age You Faster Then You Think..

This natural mineral is used in facial mask. Bentonite dries the skin and traps waste and carbon dioxide. It stops the skin from getting oxygen, which results in aging of the skin.

Biotin (Vitamin H) – Beware Of Shampoo’s That Contain This Vitamin And Their Claims Of Hair Restoration…

The molecular size of Biotin is too large to penetrate the skin. The skin doesn’t absorb it. A deficiency in fur-bearing animals(i,e. rats) causes them to get bald and have greasy scalps.

Collagen – Ever Wonder Why People Have To Keep Getting Collagen Shots And Why One Shot Is Never Enough? Here’s The Answer…

The collagen molecule cannot penetrate the skin because it is too large to be absorbed by the epidermis(skin). It provides a slippery coating on the skin and suffocates it. It does not nourish the skin or add to human collagen.

Again, this is a short list.

There are actually 26 more chemicals that go on this list.

Here are two examples of what you can expect to find when you get your hands on your report.

For instance…

Would you rub antifreeze or shellac on your face or over your entire body?

Probably not right.

But you’re doing just that when you use after shaves, lotions, color rinses and fragrances.

How you ask?

It’s through the use of isoprophyl alcohol

This chemical can be found in all of the above mentioned items.

Isoprophyl alcohol comes from….

Drum roll please..

Petroleum.

Yes, the same petroleum that’s used to create the gasoline that drives your car is also used to make the alcohol that is then combined with other chemicals for you to use.

Just because it’s combined with these other chemicals doesn’t make it any less harmful.

Want more?

How about this…

Do you have itchy skin?

Do you suffer from dry hair?

Do you wash dishes by hand?

The cause could be from your dish washing detergent.

The chemical Lauramide Dea can be found in dish washing liquid. It’s used to cut the grease but can cause all of the mentioned things to happen to you.

So as you can see from the information you’ve read here so far…

What you don’t know may just actually be killing you!

To get the remaining 26 synthetic chemicals that could be helping you create a slow death for yourself in the report called “Dying To Be Beautiful” you can click here.

Don’t worry it’s not a $19 report.

For the price of a value meal from McDonald’s Or Burger King, you can actually reverse some of the ill effects of the synthetic chemicals you’ve already taken and been exposed to and completely stop some of them in their tracks.

Sveiki ,

Na nesu vienas is tu kurie kategorizuoja zmones i : blondines (kvailos) , brunetes (genijai) – manau tai kvaili stereotipai .

O taip manantys yra tikri kvailiai .

Savo gyvenime esu sutikes tiek protingu blondiniu tiek kvailu bruneciu.

Na ir kazkaip tas svoris joms visoms be galo rupi .

Na as budamas labai lengvas (kelis metus atgal sveriau 54-56 kg, ugis 178 cm)

Na isivaizduojate …

Vis pamenu draugo mama mane vadinant “badaujanciu indusu” .

Na po kokiu mazdau 3 men pilvukas atsirado , pagurklis uzaugo , tinget pradejau , judet nesinori .

Beja pries tai pradedant , mazdaug metus atgal , gal daugiau , ziurejau “supersize me” , paliko mane soke . Bet metai bega ir atmintis blunka .

Griztam prie istorijos , mergina buvo patenkinta :

- O koks fainas pilvukas , gerai atrodai .

( alus baigias – tingysi rasyt , bandau iki 75 kg priaugt )

Aciu tiems kas netingejo sita marazma iki galo perskaityt .

Pamastykit …

Su pagarba

Normally newborn sessions entail a lot of crying, eating and peeing – but not for Ben! He came over with his mom, already asleep. Then after the first set of pictures were taken, he slowly woke up and just admired the world around him.
Considered one of the top pinot noir producers in the United States, Vision Cellars is dedicated to developing wine connoisseurs as well as wines. Owner Mac Donald educates customers and encourages them to learn wine production firsthand-club can literally get their hands dirty making vino.

“After individuals have the experience of pruning and caring for the grapevines, they gain a lot of respect for how the wine if actually made and how the grapes grow,” McDonald says. “It certainly makes you appreciate every bottle of wine you open.” Diners at California restaurants, including Spago Beverly Hills and Addison at the Grand Hotel Del Mar in San Diego, also get to savor the product-without getting their hands messy.

Immediately before the annual harvest, Vision Cellars sponsors the popular foodie event Man and Lils’ Green Cook-off. Wine club may request access to this invite-only part, which sells out annually. McDonald also sponsors an annual wine tasting in Harlem in February.

Here’s something that doesn’t come as a shock, mostly because we’ve come to expect garbage like it: Derek Jeter was awarded a Gold Glove yesterday, despite having about as much range as Troy Glaus. Here’s the thing with Gold Gloves, though — they’re not given to the best fielders at each position, they’re given to average-to-good fielders that can hit (such is the reason Johnny McDonald will never win the award, even if he was a starter). That, and guys that make few errors, mostly because they don’t get to many balls. Jeter falls into both those categories, so maybe he’s perfect. Anyway, ESPN baseball genius Rob Neyer echos my sentiments in his SweetSpot blog (Well, maybe I should say I’m echoing his sentiments. Either way, we both think it’s stupid.)

Anyway, here’s the full list of American League Gold Glovers: Joe Mauer (C), Mark Texiera (1B), Placido Polanco (2B), Evan Longoria (3B), Jeter (SS), Torii Hunter (OF), Ichiro Suzuki (OF), Adam Jones (OF) and Mark Buerhle (P).

The National League hands out its Gold Gloves today — expect much of the same criteria.

“Richard Bellamy was born in 1827 in London, England, the son of George and Nancy Bellamy. He immigrated to New Brunswick at the age of nine with the “Blue Coat Emigrants”.

Bellamy settled in Stanley, York County, where he was involved in business and surveying. Later he moved to Nackawic where he owned and operated a large farm. He served one term on the Municipal Council Board. He was first elected to the New Brunswick Assembly as a Liberal member for York County in 1886. He was re-elected in 1890, but when the election was protested, he resigned and did not run again. In 1891, he took a seat on the Legislative Council of New Brunswick and sat until the dissolution of that body in April, 1892. Bellamy never married, and died at Nackawic in November, 1892.

The bulk of the Bellamy Papers, which date from 1854 to 1895, is comprised of correspondence concerning such topics as land surveying; lumbering; agriculture; roadbuilding; and various aspects of New Brunswick politics. In addition to the correspondence, there are also legal documents, warrants, receipts, and other miscellaneous items. This series measures 3 centimeters.”

Perley.

He unsuccessfully contested the Sunbury County seat for the House of Assembly in 1854. In 1867, he was elected to the House of Commons as a member of the Liberal Party for Sunbury County. He was re-elected in 1872, 1874, 1878, and 1882. At the General Election of 1887, he was defeated and retired from active politics. In 1900, Burpe was made a member of the Senate of Canada, and sat until his resignation to become Commissioner to the Paris Exposition. Burpee died November 29, 1909, at Sheffield. He was survived by two sons.

The Burpee Papers, which date from 1814 to 1949, are largely made up of Charles Burpee’s correspondence in which political discussions play a major role. A great deal of information on Sunbury County matters and personalities can also be found in the letters. Material, which is not correspondence, is found at the end of the collection, and includes legal papers, notes for speeches, and general information on the Burpee family. The series measures 13 centimeters.”
