Just 1 more regular season weekend. Most of the playoff picture is set, just have to be patient for the playoffs.

Games I watched - Not the most exciting weekend football wise for me. Just watched the Denver Philly game and the some of the Oakland Browns. Philly always have a good ending to their seasons. I’m interested to see what they can do this year in the playoffs. I’ll give props to McNabb because he has been around for a long time doing very well, but those years gotta be coming to a close eventually. Only so many chances left.

Other high notes -

Colts join the Saints in being defeated this season. I do NOT agree with the benching of P. Manning though. Maybe when its guarentee win. I agree with the sports writers in saying how does this help their season.

The NY Giants did not make the playoffs and also lose badly for the last time in their current arena.

While watching the Denver Philly game Jim Nantz and Phil Simms brought up a chip in the football to be used for football position. I was wondering if this was ever discussed because I know I have thought of it before. While watching Pardon The Interuption, Tony and Michael have even mentioned machines to determine ball and strike territory in baseball. All cool neat stuff and leads to what is important and that is getting the call right. It could even lead to speeding up games. Something which I think any fan would be happy about. In addition to a chip in the football I imagine electronics on players jerseys to determine touch and downing on the ground. The human touch would still be needed for many calls but why not use tech if it helps. Now if only any of this advanced tech could help officiating in the NBA.

and finally

The Kings lost 2 overtime games in a row to the Cavs and the Lakers. Tough losses. c’mon NFL playoffs!

If you stumble upon my blog feel free to comment on what you watched or caught you this weekend. or anything you feel

Thank you David Akers. For some reason the Eagles decided they didn’t have to work much in the second half of the game and blew a 17 point lead in minutes. Finally the game was tied at 27-27 and McNabb threw one hell of a pass which was originally called incomplete. Reid wisely challenged which gave the Eagles field position for a field goal in the last 7 seconds of the game.

Whew! My poor heart can’t take it some weeks!

@ Giants came through with a huge win last week over the Cowboys, putting the Eagles in a first-plac

@

Giants came through with a huge win last week over the Cowboys, putting the Eagles in a first-place tiebreaker situation with the Cowboys at 8-4. Eagles chokeslammed the Giants in week 8, winning 40-17. We get DeSean Jackson back this week – but the weather may force us this to be a grind-it-out type of game.In previous years that would be something I dreaded, but Leonard Weaver and Shady McCoy have stepped up huge in the absence of Westbrook – and Andy has done a decent job mixing the pass and the run recently.

It pained me to type that last sentence, I feel as though I’ve just jinxed us into a 60 attempt passing day. Other than the Giants game, the team put together probably their most complete effort all season last week and it looks like they’re rounding into form for a post-season run. Similiar to when you get fat and lazy from November until April and hit the gym hard three weeks before Memorial Day.

Should be a hard-hitting, old-school NFC (B)east throwdown.

Pick: Eagles

(8-4) (7-5)

@

I like conspiracy theories. Always have. I think the NBA has been subtlety (or not so subtlety ) manipulating refs and affecting the outcome of games for years. The NFL though? Naah. But after Sean Suisham missed the chip shot that would’ve put the Saints away last week I got a little suspicious. That kick was basically the equivalent of an extra point. To put it in perspective, that is like a regular guy MISSING THE TOILET WHILE SOBER, WITH THE LIGHTS ON.Anyone else think Roger Goodell is trying to set up a match between two 18-0 teams in the Superbowl?Anyway, after watching this…I honestly never want to see the Saints win again. Hearing more and more “Who dat” makes me feel less and less comfortable with our education system in the country.

Hey Falcons, sorry to hear about your best players being hurt – but hey! You’ve still got the Hawks…and uh…Chipper Jones?

Pick: Saints

(12-0) (6-6)

@

So with the Stealers(I’m aware I spelled it wrong) in complete and total nosedive mode after losing to the Browns last night, the Jets are still alive in the wild card chase. Unfortunately, Kellen Clemens will be starting this week in place of Mark(I refuse to call him Sanchise) Sanchez. The Buccaneers are just horrible though. I’m pretty sure Tim Tebow and the cast of “Little Giants” could beat them. Icebox would have at least 4 sacks.

Wait. UNLESS the Bucs are wearing the creamsicle uniforms. If they are, I change my mind.

Pick: Jets

(6-6) (7-5)

Before I get into the game analysis, does anyone else find it weird that the Dolphins logo has an animal wearing a little football helmet? All the other teams with animal names don’t find it necessary to actually dress up the animal so we know he’s playing football. Is it because of all the old people in Florida who might forget if not for the little helmet with the “M” on it? “Oh honey! Look at the jumping dolphin logo! We should go to Seaworld soon!”

“No, branmuffin – that Dolphin plays football, see his little helmet?”

“Oh I see…well let’s go to a football game, that’s fun too.”

I propose the Jaguar needs a little “J” football helmet as well.

I digress.

Were it not for the Ronnie Brown injury, this would be the team no one in the AFC would want to play right now. (Aside from the Indianapolis Mannings)

This game has big playoff implications for both teams – I think Miami bounces back after that beatdown by Buffalo last week.

Pick: Miami

@

Probably #3 on the “must watch” games this weekend. Will Farve continue to break down? It looks like teams are daring Farve to beat them recently, holding AP to 19(!!), 85, and 82 yards these last three weeks. Favre is 40, and spent his offseason throwing deep outs and curl routs to Terry(the Jet) Hodgekins, the 15-year old sophomore co-captain of his high school team, and he’s dating a 17 year old! What I’m getting at is maybe he is finally starting to break down…and without John Madden to send him turducken sandwiches from the booth, can he make it through another year?

Meanwhile, the Bengals are the Miss Congenality of the NFL this year, as they certainly haven’t won pretty this year. I think they find a way to win again this week…and I really hope Chad*sigh*Ochocinco finds another cool way to get fined. Charity donations are always cool.

Pick: Cincy

(9-3) (10-2)

@

Like so much holiday punch, this game is a bowl of disappointment. Two teams with playoff dreams now stuck in nowheresville at 5-7. Looked like Steve Slayton was going to have a breakout season, then for two games there it looked like Ryan Moats was going to be a player…much to the chagrin of Eagles fans. The Seahawks look prepared to blow it all up in Seattle, new coach, GM, quarterback, new coffee chain…oh yes Starbucks, your days are numbered…
Pick: Houston

As always, I gotta supply you with a housework special of the week. This weekend is actually a great time to finish getting your Christmas decorations up and shopping done. Both of these teams need serious help. I actually hope Buffalo does get Mike Shanahan, it seems like a great football town. Plus what else is there to do in Buffalo?Pick: Kansas City

(4-8) (3-9)

Quietly, Green Bay is sneaking up on Minnesota in the NFC North(won 4 in a row)…they’ll have to beat them outright however, since they lost both games head-to-head. Still, the offensive line has apparently started watching Anthony Munoz’s “110% Performance Pass Blocking” tapes on VHS and is giving Mr. Rogers ample time to sit back and pick apart defenses.Without a solid run game, the Bears really have less weapons than the French Army. So while Jay Cutler has been about as accurate as Dr. Z’s predictions this year, a lot of interceptions have been the fault of a lackluster receiving corps.

Pick: Green Bay

(8-4) (5-7)

With Pittsburgh losing, the Ravens are feeling really good about their playoff chances. It helps to have the stretch of your last four games start with the Detroit Lions.Might I make a suggestion Detroit peoples? Get rid of the uniform and logo and start all over. It sure helped the Broncos, Browns, Buccaneers, and Patriots.Pick: Ravens

Patriots recently are looking about as sharp as a jello mold. Little production from the run game, allowing way too much pressure in the passing game. That being said, Matt Moore will be quarterbacking for the Panthers this week. The day Matt Moore outduels Tom Brady in a December game will probably be the same day Skip Bayless admits defeat…in anything.Pick: Patriots

Will this be the week the Colts go down? Don’t count on it. The Broncos still have a shot in the AFC West, but I don’t think the Colts take their foot off the gas just yet. After a win they’d be 13-0, effectively giving them 4 bye weeks until they have to play a home playoff game.I don’t see them going for an undefeated record…they’ll most likely rest their starters.

Plus it gives Peyton a whole month to make new commercials, which is always good.

All of a sudden the Raiders don’t look so bad – win last week against the Steelers(in Pittsburgh), and three weeks ago against Cincy. Ol’ Schefty over at ESPN says the Raiders would be a playoff team if Gradkowski was playing all year.I think he’s sipping on a little too much eggnog, but I do think this team is pretty good. They get another win here at home.

This would be my housework special of the week were it not for Vince Young…and the battle of the two best running backs with dreadlocks in the league, Chris Johnson and Steven Jackson. The Rams are showing some improvement from week to week, but I don’t see them handling the Titans at home.

The Cowgirls are 19-35 since November of 1997. The Chargers meanwhile are 15-0 in December over the last three years. The anti-Cowgirls, if you will. This matchup features two coaches who I would never trust to build a lego castle, much less a football team, but Norv and the Bolts help the Cowboys continue their slide.

Decent Monday night game here. The 49′ers are on the very very edge of the playoff picture. A divisional game, which means it’ll probably be really close.
For his return to Atlanta, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick was hoping to run the offense for a few plays and have some positive impact on his team. Well, Michael Vick got his wish as he started at quarterback for the first time in three years – but it wasn’t with the Eagles.

Vick, recently released from jail after dogfighting chargers, was traded from the Eagles to his original team, the Atlanta Falcons, for one quarter to allow Vick to start for the team he played on for six years.

“When I was told by Andy Reid that I was going to start, Donovan [McNabb] pushed Coach [Reid] and said that if I started for the Eagles, he was going to tell on me for not being a good citizen,” Vick said. “But Coach promised me that as an early Christmas present, I would get to start.”

Philadelphia Eagles Coach Andy Reid kept his promise.

“I spoke with the Falcons, and they agreed to have him start,” Reid said. “But I said that I would trade Vick for one quarter as long as they agreed not to score any points until the game was over.”

The Falcons scored a touchdown with 0:00 remaining in the game. Aside from that, they were held scoreless.

“I’m glad that they kept their end of the bargain,” Reid said. “It really goes to show you that you can put a lot of trust in other owners and coaches. It’s morals more than anything else.”

Falcons Head Coach Mike Smith said it was not a difficult to make the decision to trade for Vick for the first quarter.

“We had a choice: Should we start an insurance salesman who is currently a backup on our team or a Pro Bowl QB dog killer who is on the opposing team?” Smith said. “The answer was obvious.”

Vick said he was thrilled to play for the Eagles and the Falcons in the same game.

“I didn’t know what reaction to expect, but when I was told that I was going to start the game for the Falcons, I immediately just broke down and started crying,” said Vick, who threw for a touchdown and added another one on the ground. “I don’t know how many people in the NFL have ever played on their former team and their formerly former team in the same game.

Game Notes:
The Atlanta Falcons are protesting the game, saying that Vick’s two touchdowns should have counted for Atlanta, not Philadelphia.

The Buffalo Bills and Michael Vick have something in common this season — neither have had much going for them. The Bills, as we know, have been their post-Flutie selves, while Vick, though on a winning team, hasn’t seen much of the field with the Eagles. Prior to tonight’s Philly-Dallas game, Tony Dungy had a little suggestion Bills fans might find a bit interesting: Vick, who he’s been mentoring since his release from prison, might find himself in Buffalo in 2010.

Vick, who signed a one-year contract prior to this season, has a team option for next year at $5.2 million. Considering the season Donovan McNabb is having and that he hasn’t seen much action, it’s unlikely he’ll be back in Philly.

“It’s technically up to Philadelphia,” Dungy said on NBC. “If they want him back, he has to stay there. If they don’t there are some teams looking for quarterbacks.

“I think a dark horse is Buffalo,” he added. “They talked originally. There was some communication there. I think it would be a good fit.”

So Trent Edwards isn’t the answer? I could’ve told you that awhile ago. Oh yeah, I did.

Rush “Don’t Blame It On McNabb”: It is amazing how the NFL has put the denial of Rush Limbaugh into

Rush “Don’t Blame It On McNabb”: It is amazing how the NFL has put the denial of Rush Limbaugh into their exclusive club on the shoulders of one of the players. It’s obvious that the owners of the NFL do not want to be associated with Limbaugh because it is too much of a risk that he would affect the league economically. Instead of them coming together and letting Commissioner Roger Goodell (he works for the owners in case you forgot) state just that, they have decided to insinuate that it’s because of some remarks Limbaugh made about Philadelphia Eagles QB Donovan McNabb in 2003. McNabb does not own a team or work in the NFL front office. So why are the owners allowing the media to make him part of the reasoning Limbaugh will not be a minority owner? Is it because a good number of owners actually agree with a lot of the political stances Limbaugh takes? Is it because owners want to keep a low profile and as long as their names are out of the media they are happy? I believe the reason is they are terrified that if they say the wrong thing, it will interfere with the money that is being made. It’s easy to come out and take a strong stance on not allowing Michael Vick to be a part of your team, which many owners and GM’s did. That is a small issue and as I have heard a wise man (Former Georgetown Men’s Basketball Coach) say, “Small people will make big stances on small issues”. Coming out and telling your true feelings about a popular polarizing figure like Rush Limbaugh is a big issue and the last thing you want to do is say the wrong thing. My main point is this- Limbaugh not being allowed to join the NFL owner’s ranks has nothing to do with what he said about Donovan McNabb. That excuse is just a little too convenient, don’t you think?

Who’s Hot: Carson Palmer and the Cincinnati Bengals. How many more fourth quarter drives is he going to make to win ball games this year? It’s one thing to lead an overtime game winning drive for a FG against Cleveland, but it’s another when you do it for a touchdown against the Ravens in Baltimore. I thought only Ben Roethlisberger could do that. It might have taken some time, but Palmer is finally playing at the level most people were already giving him credit for. When top QB conversations would come up, his name was always mentioned even though he had a career losing record? If he keeps winning games, like he has so far this season, it will justify his name being mentioned with the game’s best.

Rookie Impact: Jeremy Maclin, Philadelphia Eagles. Six catches for 142 yards and two touchdowns. Maclin wasn’t even supposed to start this weekend. He was still behind Kevin Curtis, but when Curtis could not go Maclin got the start. Could Curtis soon be mentioned in the same sentence as Wally Pipp? Maclin showed great acceleration on the Eagles second play from scrimmage when he blew past the Buccaneers defender and was able to get under a bomb delivered from McNabb for a 51 yard touchdown. Maclin was drafted in the first round (19th overall) and was considered a steal for being around that late. With Maclin coming along as planned and with the emerging second year player DeSean Jackson, the Eagles could have a solid wide receiver corps for years.

Great for Fantasy Money: Let me explain this category first. Many players, mostly QB’s get these big contracts because of their stats but never earn their teams victories. They always come through for their fantasy football owner but never for their NFL owner. Case in point, Matt Schaub of the Houston Texans. Schaub threw for 371 yards and two touchdowns this weekend but couldn’t come away with the victory. The Texans now have the league’s third leading passer in Schaub whose 1418 yards and 10 touchdowns put him behind only Payton Manning’s 12. But the Texans posses a 2-3 record. Schaub has proven to be great for his fantasy football owners, but if the record does not improve, I see Houston’s Coach Gary Kubiak getting the boot at season’s end.

ST. LOUIS — The Revs. Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson attacked the bid by Rush Limbaugh to buy the St. Louis Rams on Monday, saying the conservative radio host’s track record on race should exclude him from owning an NFL team.

Sharpton sent a letter to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, arguing that Limbaugh has been divisive and “anti-NFL” in some of his comments.

Jackson said in a telephone interview that Limbaugh had made his wealth “appealing to the fears of whites” with an unending line of insults against blacks and other minorities.

“The National Football League has set high standards for racial justice and inclusion,” Jackson said. “He should not have the privilege of owning an NFL franchise — and it is a privilege.” The civil rights leader said he’s had contact with numerous players and ex-players concerned about the bid.

For complete sports coverage, visit FOXSports.com

Limbaugh shot back at Sharpton on his radio show.

“Now, this saddens me as well this disappoints me,” he said. “I know Rev. Sharpton. Sharpton is better than this. He knows better than this. You know, I didn’t judge Al Sharpton’s fitness to be in radio when he wanted to earn an honest living for once, given his well-documented past as the author of the Tawana Brawley hoax. I believe in freedom and I also don’t discriminate.”

Limbaugh said last week that he is teaming up with St. Louis Blues hockey team owner Dave Checketts in a bid to buy the Rams. He has declined to discuss details of the offer, citing a confidentiality agreement.

In 2003, Limbaugh worked briefly on ESPN’s NFL pregame show. He resigned after saying Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb was overrated because the media wanted to see a black quarterback succeed.

Transcripts posted on the radio host’s Web site also say that on a January 2007 show, Limbaugh commented: “The NFL all too often looks like a game between the Bloods and the Crips without any weapons. There, I said it.”

Asked about Limbaugh’s bid to purchase the winless Rams, McNabb said: “If he’s rewarded to buy them, congratulations to him. But I won’t be in St. Louis any time soon.”

NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said the league is aware of the concerns voiced by Sharpton and Jackson.

“It is very early in the process and no transfer of ownership of the Rams has been presented to the league for review,” Aiello said.

The latest complaints came a day after executive director of the NFL Players Association, DeMaurice Smith, urged players to speak out against Limbaugh’s bid.

“I have asked our players to embrace their roles not only in the game of football but also as players and partners in the business of the NFL,” Smith said in a statement Sunday. “They risk everything to play this game, they understand that risk and they live with that risk and its consequences for the rest of their life.

“We also know that there is an ugly part of history and we will not risk going backwards, giving up giving in or lying down to it.”

Players on the 0-5 Rams, who were routed by the Minnesota Vikings 38-10 on Sunday, tried to distance themselves from the controversy.

“I’m paying attention, but I’m not even touching that one,” running back Steven Jackson said. “Because if I start touching it I might go somewhere I don’t want to go.”

Defensive end Chris Long said he just heard Monday that Limbaugh was part of a group seeking to purchase the team. His reaction: “Oh, is that the guy on the radio?”

Reminded of Limbaugh’s statements about McNabb, Long seemed to disapprove while adding he didn’t care who owned the team.

“I mean, those weren’t great comments at all,” Long said. “But it’s not my job to really comment on that.”

Defensive end Leonard Little, the last remaining player from the Rams’ Super Bowl championship after the 1999 season, didn’t want to talk about it.

“We’ve got a lot more things to worry about than who’s going to be our owner,” he said.

Former Tiger and current Philadelphia Eagle Jeremy Maclin had a big game today against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Maclin, at wide receiver, caught a 51-yard touchdown pass from Donovan McNabb to give the Eagles an early 7-0 lead. Later, McNabb threw Maclin a 40-yard touchdown pass within two minutes of halftime.

Maclin led all Philadelphia receivers with six catches and 142 yards. Philadelphia won 33-14.

The Eagles have several other talented young players to use on offense, including running back LeSean McCoy of Pitt, wide receiver DeSean Jackson of Cal and wide receiver Jason Avant of Michigan.

Ravens to beat the Bengals Baltimore is playing well but so are the Bengals but I just think the Rav

Ravens to beat the Bengals

Baltimore is playing well but so are the Bengals but I just think the Ravens will have too much for them. Look for the Ravens defence to play much better after last week.

Panthers to beat the Redskins

Is anyone interested in this game? Really two bad teams and I fancy the Panthers to win because they are at home.

Bills to beat the Browns

The Browns can’t score on offence and to make things worse they have traded Edwards to the Jets. Guess they have already written off the season. The Bills aren’t much better but are at home at least.

Steelers to beat the Lions

Detroit has won one game this season but they aren’t going to get win number 2 this weekend.

Cowboys to beat the Chiefs

Chiefs need to get a win soon but I can’t see it happening this weekend versus the Cowboys. Look for the Dallas defence to play well and for Romo to have a slightly better game than he has been having. Though it is nice to see Romo getting found out for what he really is a decent QB rather than this superstar people were making him out to be.

Vikings to beat the Rams

Peterson to get over 200 yards? Wouldn’t put it past him or for Favre to have a big game. The Rams are probably the worse team in the NFL at the moment.

Giants to beat the Raiders

Oakland just isn’t that good and won’t be when they have a thug has head coach or a nut job as an owner. Manning and the Giants look good and should make it 5 – 0.

Eagles to beat the Buccaneers

McNabb is back and they defence is playing well whereas noone is playing all that well for the Bucs.

49ers to beat the Falcons

San Fran is playing well and I thing they will have enough to beat the Falcons on Sunday.

Cardinals to beat the Texans

I can see both teams putting up a lot of points this weekend and also look for Fitzgerald and Johnson to have big games. Fancy the Cardinals since they are home.

Broncos to beat the Patriots

Broncos are playing well which isn’t good news for all the McDaniels haters but something I’m personally not shocked about. Orton is playing well enough to win games and the defence is finally showing how good it can be.

Jaguars to beat the Seahawks

Just not sure about this game since both teams aren’t that great but the Jags are slightly better.

Colts to beat the Titans

When you are winless the last team you want to play is the Colts on fire and Manning playing as well as he has for a few years. Peyton is already MVP favourite and quite rightly since without this team would be average at best.

Jets to beat the Dolphins

Two young inexperience QBs in this game but the difference is Sanchez has a great defence to get him the ball back a lot.

MVP favourite

1) Saints (4-0) – LW 4 Everyone knew the Saints offense was going to be lethal, but who would

1) Saints (4-0) – LW 4

Everyone knew the Saints offense was going to be lethal, but who would have known that their defense would be this good. They lead the lead with a plus 7 turnover ratio.

2) Colts (4-0) – LW 3

Peyton Manning has the Colts offense in full stride, leading the league in passing touchdowns, passing yards, and receiving yards.

3) Giants (4-0) – LW 1

The G-Men are on a roll and Steve Smith isn’t playing like just the “other” Steve Smith, but everything rides on Manning’s status for the upcoming weeks.

4) Vikings (4-0) – LW 6

Brett Favre played great in the Vikings win against the Packers, and Jared Allen was in the Packers backfield for seemingly the entire game. Oh yeah, I almost forgot to mention their beast of a running back. What’s his name again?

5) Patriots (3-1) – LW 7

The Patriots’s defense has picked up their play the last two games. Brandon Meriweather has taken over as the big play defender for the injured Jerod Mayo. The Pats are rounding into shape, look out.

6) Ravens (3-1) – LW 2

If it wasn’t for some bad roughing the passer calls and Mark Clayton’s hands, or lack there of, the Ravens would still be undefeated.

7) Jets (3-1) – LW 5

Sanchez had a little bit of a hiccup, but he gets a big new toy to throw to in Braylen Edwards.

8) 49ers (3-1) – LW 10

Statement game for the 49ers this week against the Falcons.

9) Steelers (2-2) – LW nr

Mendenhall has to keep his momentum in order for the Steelers to get back to their winning ways.

10) Broncos (4-0) – LW 15

Their defense was dominant against a pretty good Dallas offense and Brandon Marshall has once again emerged as a big play receiver.

11) Bears (3-1) – LW 13

Cutler looks great and Forte got back on track against the Lions.

12) Falcons (2-1) – LW 8

Tough game in San Fran against the 49ers.

13) Bengals (3-1) – LW 12

I don’t know how they keep winning, but whatever they’re doing, it’s working.

14) Eagles (2-1) – LW 11

McNabb and Westbrook are back this week.

15) Jaguars (2-2) – LW nr

Garrard is playing unbelievably well right now and MJD has a chance to take it to the house every time he touches the ball.

16) Chargers (2-2) – LW 9

Chargers have yet to put together a complete game.

17) Texans (2-2) – LW nr

Their offense is starting to come together.

18) Packers (2-2) – LW 14

Their offensive line is non-existent.

19) Cardinals (1-2) – LW nr

The Cardinals need to incorporate a more balanced offensive attack.

20) Cowboys (2-2) – LW nr

Romo has to cut down on the turnovers.

21) Dolphins (1-3) – LW nr

It’s going to be tough to win with Henne’s inexperience at quarterback, but their defense is solid and their running game is capable of carrying the offense.

22) Seahawks (1-3) – LW nr

Seneca Wallace can only do so much behind an injured offensive line.

23) Titans (0-4) – LW nr

Kerry Collins looks awful, and where did LenDale White go?

24) Bills (1-3) – LW nr

Trent Edwards isn’t doing too well with the new no huddle offense.

25) Panthers (0-3) – LW nr

They’ll get their first win when Delhomme decides to throw it to the guys wearing the same jersey.

26) Lions (1-3) – LW nr

Their first break in years, Matt Stafford isn’t seriously injured.

27) Redskins (2-2) – LW nr

Redskins rebounded from their pathetic loss to the Lions last week by beating the woeful Bucs. I think change is in their future.

28) Chiefs (0-4) – LW nr

The Chiefs are 2 for 26 on third down conversions over their last two games. Not a good recipe for success.

29) Buccaneers (0-4) – LW nr

The Bucs give up big play after big play, no wonder they’re winless.

30) Browns (0-4) – LW nr

Quinn or Anderson? Quinn or Anderson?…Neither?

31) Raiders (1-3) – LW nr

McFadden’s injured, Russell can’t pass for over 150 yards, and Coach Cable is possibly going to be arrested. What more can I say?

32) Rams (0-4) – LW nr

This year’s Detroit Lions?

Week 4

1) New York Giants (3-0) – LW 1

The Giants dominated the lowly Bucs, holding them to 86 yards of total offense and shutting them out.

2) Baltimore Ravens (3-0) – LW 2

Joe Flacco is flinging the pigskin all over the field. The Ravens look virtually unstoppable now that their offense is creeping up to the level of their defense.

3) Indianapolis Colts (3-0) – LW 5

Peyton Manning torched the Cardinals secondary for 4 touchdown passes. Freeney is out for a couple of weeks, but the Colts are legit.

4) New Orleans Saints (3-0) - LW 8

The Saints showed they can also win the sloppy defensive game, holding the Bills to 7 points and ending T.O.’s reception streak.

5) New York Jets (3-0) – LW 7

Sanchez showed some wheels and a little bit of toughness on his touchdown run against the Titans last week. Big test for the Jets defense this week against the Saints.

6) Minnesota Vikings (3-0) – LW 4

The Vikings needed some last second heroics from “old man” Favre to overcome a 49er team who played all but one play without Frank Gore.

7) New England Patriots (2-1) – LW 11

Brady’s receivers, with the exception of Moss, let him down against the Falcons, dropping countless passes and not completing their routes. Nevertheless, the Patriots got it done against the Falcons and look to be back on track.

    Atlanta Falcons (2-1) – LW 3

The Falcon’s defense struggled against a Patriots offense which was without Wes Welker and incorporating new receivers. On top of the defensive struggles, Matt Ryan could get anything going with his biggest red zone threat, Tony Gonzalez.

9) San Diego Chargers (2-1) – LW 9

The Chargers can make a statement next week if they can take advantage of and get a win against the reeling Steelers.

10) San Francisco 49ers (2-1) – LW 10

If it wasn’t for a last second touchdown pass by Favre, we would be talking about a 3-0 49ers team that look like possible contenders.

11) Philadelphia Eagles (2-1) – LW nr

Kevin Kolb became the first quarterback to throw for over 300 yards in each of his first two professional starts. Great job holding down the fort while McNabb recovers.

12) Cincinnati Bengals (2-1) – LW nr

The Bengals shocked us all when they came back from a fourth quarter deficit against the defending champs. They look legit.

13) Chicago Bears (2-1) – LW 13

Jay Cutler has been a different quarterback since his week one interception frenzy, leading the Bears to an impressive 2-1 start.

14) Green Bay Packers (2-1) – LW nr

Packers vs. Vikings on Monday Night Football this week, can’t wait.

15) Denver Broncos (3-0) – LW nr

Josh McDaniels sure looks like he knew what he was doing trading away Cutler to get the great Kyle Orton. The defense looks surprisingly strong too. Their taking advantage of a soft schedule, and it doesn’t hurt to have a little bit of luck.

LW = Last Week

- Okay. I don’t typically talk about a team I know nothing about. Especially with a audience

-

Okay. I don’t typically talk about a team I know nothing about. Especially with a audience the size of the internet…. That said…

What in gods name is wrong with the Eagles? The team has not one. Not two. But THREEEEEEE pro bowl QBs!!!!!!

So what is the game plan? They have no idea. McNabb gets injured and they decide to tap Kevin Kolb (Kevin Kolb who?)?? Perhaps they forgot they signed Michael Vick. Or perhaps they forgot he is no longer suspended.

Then they decide to sign Jeff Garcia. Okay. This isn’t exactly a stupid move. I mean if you can afford to have 3 pro bowl QBs, and at the same time manage to get 3 pro bowl QBs who am I to argue it? But WHY?!?!? I mean it makes sense for about the first 30 seconds you think about it, and then you go “wait” – “there is something really fishy about this”.

So um what is so fishy? I’m not quite sure to be honest but I have some ideas.

They forgot they have Vick

They didn’t realize he can legally play

They have issues with Vick being a starting QB – Despite this they signed him

The team’s players does not want him to start – In this case tell them to STFU and deal with it

Vick isn’t ready to start (physically) – In this case you might want to cut him now

Vick isn’t ready to start (mentally) – In this case you might want to cut him now

The Eagles have a group of QBs that on their own could scare most teams. Together they scare any team that is paying attention.

And I don’t know if this would be a legal formation but… Could you imagine if Garcia lined up in center and then had McNabb directly to his right and Vick directly to his left? All of a sudden the other team couldn’t possibly know what is going to happen. Does Garcia keep the ball? Does he pass to one of his sides? If he happens to pass it to another QB does that QB keep the ball or does he send it back (ya we are starting to waste time at this point but whatever)?

What about lining up two QBs. One slightly to the left and one farther back but dead center? Who gets snapped the ball? The closer QB and the farther back QB?

Wildcat this wildcat that. This team doesn’t need to run the wildcat to cause some serious havoc! The mere idea of the snap could be a huge problem for defenses! I don’t get it. I really don’t.

Maybe this team needs to hire a offensive coordinator that has a imagination.

What? At what point while signing a contract with the Eagles, did he think “hey I will start

What? At what point while signing a contract with the Eagles, did he think “hey I will start”. When he signed in Philly I thought it was just a way for him to get back in the league. Maybe run some wildcat formations, some trick plays, but START!?!? I have never been a Vick hater. I didn’t overreact to him financing a dog fighting ring, but I also knew he wasn’t too good of a quarterback. The 100 million dollars plus contract he signed was a little over the top. He didn’t deserve it then, just like he doesn’t deserve to start now. He is a great athlete, and no one can take that away from him. He couldn’t hit the broad side of the globe with a football. He only completes 55% of his passes. When I watch him throw it reminds me of a high school quarterback. The Eagles brought in a 39-year-old Jeff Garcia to play QB for them in McNabbs absence. So obviously the Eagles don’t think that Vick is even capable to replace McNabb for a couple of games. Which brings me to the question. Why did the Eagles sign Vick to begin with? Was it a charity case? Did they feel sorry for him? What was the point?

Posted: September 24, 2009

It’s been a snorefest in Sleeperland for the first two weeks of the ‘09 season, but these boys are about to awaken. Here are the sleepers for week 3:

QUARTERBACK

Trent Edwards vs. New Orleans — Projection: 21-32, 275 yards, 2 TD, 1 Int
The Saints rank 29th against the pass through two weeks, and that may, in large part, be due to the fact other teams are always playing catch-up. However, their TD:Int ratio is 2:6, so Edwards, currently sporting a 104.9 QB rating, best be wary.

Mark Sanchez vs. Tennessee — Projection: 18-28, 255 yards, 2 TD, 1 Int
Sanchez enters week 3 with a 91.3 QB rating, and faces a Tennessee defense that ranks dead last in the league in pass defense, giving up 339 ypg.

RUNNING BACK

Knowshon Moreno @ Oakland — Projection: 18-81 rushing, 3-24 receiving, 1 TD
Moreno got the lion’s share of the carries in week 2 (17) and reeled off 75 yards. The Raiders have surrendered 250 rushing yards through the first 2 weeks, so Moreno should find some room to work.

LeSean McCoy vs. Kansas City — Projection: 12-64 rushing, 4-31 receiving
The swelling in Brian Westbrook’s ankle has subsided, but he’s yet to practice. Even if Westbrook plays, McCoy should see an increased workload to give the vet’s bum wheel a break. The Chiefs rank 21st against the run, and McNabb is still out.

Beenie Wells vs. Indianapolis — Projection: 8-54 rushing, 1 TD
Beenie fumbled twice in week 2, losing 1 and his coach’s confidence, thus, “The Program” style hazing (carrying a football with him all week, everywhere he goes). But Beenie is explosive, and the Colts’ D ranks 30th against the run (176.5 ypg).

WIDE RECEIVER

Eddie Royal @ Oakland — Projection: 8-92 receiving
Royal has yet to show even a glimpse of the form he had in his 2008 rookie campaign, hauling in a measly 5 catches through 2 games. All-Pro corner Nnamdi Asomugha will be blanketing Brandon Marshall, so Royal should find room underneath.

Antwaan Randle El @ Detroit — Projection: 5-64 receiving, 1 TD
The Lions not only rank 24th against the pass through 2 weeks, they’ve given up the most touchdowns to opposing ball catchers (8). Santana Moss could have a HUGE week, but Randle El will get his looks, and should be a sneaky good play.

Chansi Stuckey vs. Tennessee — Projection: 4-55 receiving, 1 TD
Again, the Titans rank dead last against the pass. Stuckey is an under-the-radar receiver who will find a way to get open.

TIGHT END

Dustin Keller vs. Tennessee — Projection: 4-50 receiving, 1 TD
Back to the Meadowlands for our third Jets’ sleeper of the day. Sanchez is going to throw, and Keller is continuing to grow alongside his quarterback.

KICKER

Steve Hauschka vs. Cleveland — Projection: 2-2 FG, 3 PAT (1 FG 40+)
In Hauschka, the Ravens have a little known leg-man who, as they continue to roll on offense, will become better known in the fantasy world. The Browns are going to get piled up, and Hauschka will be a beneficiary.

DEFENSE

San Francisco 49ers @ Minnesota — Projection: 17 points allowed, 3 sack, 2 Int, 1 fumble recovery
The 49ers currently rank 3rd in the league against the run (53 ypg), 20th against the pass (238 ypg). Adrian Peterson could present a problem, but if his back injury flares up, this disciplined D could bottle up the Vikes and get to Favre.

The New Orleans Saints travel up to the city of brotherly love to take on the Philadelphia Eagles. Even though the Saints are 3 point underdogs, I am picking them to win by 20. That’s right, Philly fans; I am predicting a blow out.

Quick! Get this guy some chunky soup!

Donovan McNabb is unable to throw the ball well or play “Adam” in the hit play “Adam& Eve: The Early Years,” because he cracked the rib that is suppose to go to Eve. He may not even play at all. I am also not convinced that Brian Westbrook is 100%.

Add this all with the fact that the Saints have an improved defense and an offense that looks like the Patriots of 2006; it may be a long day for the Eagles. That pesky P.E.T.A. organization will be the least of their worries. This will be a statement game for the Saints. Just like that song by the group After 7, “Baby I’m for Reaal!”

Drew Brees is coming off of a 6 touchdown game with over 350 yards passing and the running backs added another 180 yards to the total offense. The defense only allowed 1 offensive touchdown, which is unheard of in New Orleans.

League MVP

Philly on the other hand has an injured starting quarterback and a suspended 3rd string QB (Vick), who is probably the best athlete on the team. The second string Kevin Kolb sucks so bad, they had to sign Jeff Garcia again.

A buddy of mine from the gym is a die-hard Eagles fan, and I had to write this blog to him so that I could break the news to him early. “Marcus, Philly will lose…badly.”

I am actually pulling for the Eagles to do well this season, because I am supporting Michael Vick’s comeback, but he does not comeback “technically” until next week. So, let the blow out celebration begin early. Geaux Saints!!

SAINTS 41, Eagles 17

All right we’ve got the same deal as last week with the NFL Primetime music. Hit play and read this post.

Last week I had a pretty good start to the season with an overall record of 13-3. If Kyle Orton didn’t complete that ridiculous pass to Brandon Stokely I would’ve been 14-2. There were some great games in week 1. The Steelers, Titans game went into overtime with the Steelers coming out on top. They should’ve won the game in regulation but Hines Ward fumbled on the five yard line extending the game. Of course the Bengals, Broncos game when Orton threw a pick but the Bengal defender couldn’t keep his feet inbounds so it was an incomplete pass. Then he threw a pass into three Bengal defenders who tipped the ball directly to Brandon Stokely who ran for the game-winning touchdown. Also, the Packers, Bears game went down to the wire. It wasn’t pretty but the Packers got it done late with a pass from Aaron Rodgers to Greg Jennings. Al Harris picked off Jay Cutler to secure the victory for the Packers. Finally, Tom Brady got back on track with a comeback victory over the Bills. Jake Delhomme has nine picks in his last two games. Let’s get to week 2.

Carolina vs. Atlanta

The Falcons get to 2-0 as the Panthers try to get back on track.

Minnesota vs. Detroit

The Lions are still a bad team. Unfortunately, the Vikings behind Adrian Peterson and not Favre will get to 2-0.

Cincinnati vs. Green Bay

The Packer offense will get going this week and get to 2-0.

Houston vs. Tennessee

The Titans will beat the Texans who looked awful against the Jets.

Oakland vs. Kansas City

Another battle between two bad teams. The home team will win.

New England vs. NY Jets

The Patriots will show the Jets that they are the beast of the AFC East.

New Orleans vs. Philadelphia

The Eagles will be without McNabb and that will hurt them against a team with a solid quarterback(Drew Brees) who threw six touchdowns last week.

St. Louis vs. Washington

The Redskins will win at home.

Arizona vs. Jacksonville

The Cardinals had an embarrassing loss against the 49ers. They have to make up for it.

Tampa Bay vs. Buffalo

As seen on Monday the Bills will find a way to lose.

Seattle vs. San Francisco

The 49ers will get off to an unusual 2-0 start.

Pittsburgh vs. Chicago

The Packers picked Cutler off four times. The Steelers have one of the best defenses in the league with or without Troy Polamalu. I’ll be surprised if the Bears score.

Baltimore vs. San Diego

The Ravens will win over the Chargers who had an unimpressive victory over the Raiders.

Cleveland vs. Denver

The Broncos will win again after a lucky victory against the Bengals. After all they are playing the Browns.

NY Giants vs. Dallas

Maybe the Cowboys will kick it off the scoreboard but they will win.

Indianapolis vs. Miami

Once again Miami’s season last year was a fluke. The Colts will win.

Enjoy week 2.
