El Ministerio de Cultura presenta a partir de hoy la Red de Bibliotecas de Museos (BIMUS), un gran proyecto que permitirá acercar las bibliotecas de los museos estatales a la sociedad, a través de diferentes recursos que posibiliten la visibilidad  y puesta en valor de los fondos bibliográficos custodiados por estas instituciones.

El principal resultado ha sido la creación de un gran Catálogo Colectivo en línea que ofrece la posibilidad de consultar en distintos idiomas (castellano, gallego, catalán, euskera e inglés) los catálogos de las bibliotecas pertenecientes a dieciocho museos de titularidad estatal y gestión directa del Ministerio de Cultura a través de la Dirección General de Bellas Artes y Bienes Culturales y del Instituto Nacional de las Artes Escénicas y de la Música (INAEM).

Entre los diferentes tipos de documentos que albergan estas bibliotecas, se pueden encontrar auténticos tesoros bibliográficos por su antigüedad, rareza e interés para el estudio de la museología, la historia del arte, la arqueología, la antropología o las artes decorativas, entre otras disciplinas.

La creación de la Red de Bibliotecas de Museos (BIMUS) supone, que además de acceder al Catálogo Colectivo, estén disponibles muchos más recursos como acceso a los fondos digitalizados por las distintas instituciones en la Biblioteca Virtual de Patrimonio Bibliográfico y en la Biblioteca Virtual de Prensa Histórica, así como a contenidos electrónicos de interés común como bases de datos externas en red, repositorios institucionales y otros recursos de Internet.

In December of last year Automotive News published that Toyota’s Japan market Crown luxury sedan went from 60 MCUs to just four.  This news quickly spread across the automotive industry as car manufacturers sought to reduce the complexity and weight of the existing networks of processors and wiring that permeate modern motor vehicles.

Your typical car contains 25-35 microcontrollers and luxury cars have 70 or more.  Connecting all the sensors to those controllers as well as interconnecting the processors to ECUs is the CAN (Controller Area Network) which currently has a data rate of 1Mb/sec.  Another proposed standard is FlexRay which is designed to move data at a rate of 10 Mb/sec.  Motorola has been experimenting with a network design they call Switch Fabric that should move data at a rate approaching 2 Gb/sec.

Automotive designers and manufacturers are struggling to reduce the weight of cars as the demand for more processors and the cabling necessary network them and their sensors increases.  Manufacturers admit to their mid-range cars containing 45 to 65 pounds of wiring, but the figure is likely much higher and especially for luxury cars.  Reducing or eliminating the weight of wiring can drastically improve fuel economy.  Some cars are using Blue Tooth to communicate from switches to controllers in order to eliminate wiring.

The term domain-based computing is being used in automotive design and as a result is more multi-core processors and moving current systems to 32-bit architecture.

Today 32-bit microcontrollers are used in engine, transmission, navigation, ABS, entertainment, GPS, and stability control.  Sixteen bit MCUs are used for SRS (air bags), body control, instrument panel clusters, even HUD.  8-bit controllers are used on power mirrors, door locks, HVAC, radios, CD players, lighting, anti-theft, seat controls, power windows, etc.

With hybrid cars coming into the car population in ever increasing numbers as well as a smattering of electric cars, micro processing needs are ever increasing.  Regenerative braking, power management, and multiple battery systems require more processing, networking, and programming.  Oh yeah, and more wiring.  That’s right, I said multiple battery systems.  As more systems are employed the electrical demands are soon outstripping the capacity of a single 12-14 volt electrical system.

New regulations concerning collision avoidance systems, passenger SRS systems, multimedia, etc., will require more of the above.  If our homes were this integrated we would be paying five times as much for the privilege of having a roof over our heads.

On the bright side, Philips Electronics has released the LUXEON Altilon power LED headlamp. 

While we have seen LED technology employed in automotive and truck taillights as well as in traffic signal controlled intersections, it is now advanced to the point that it can be used to light the road ahead. 

Audi now uses this LED lighting in the R8 headlamps for both high and low beam functions as a $5000 option.  These provide more than 850 lumens with a color temperature of 5600K that conforms to both ECE and SAE specs.

You can expect pricing of this technology to drop dramatically as it becomes the new lighting standard that will not only enable far more flexibility in vehicle body design, but also dramatically reduces power consumption for lighting.  LED life is also far longer than conventional bulb technology and produces far less heat energy.

Soon your eyes will have to adjust from dealing with the HID blue headlight beams to the LUXEON LED wave length.  You can expect conversion kits for existing HID headlamps, too.

La Biblioteca Virtual del Patrimonio Bibliográfico del Ministerio de Cultura (BVPB) ha incorporado nuevos fondos gracias a la participación de la Real Academia de la Historia, la Real Academia de la Jurisprudencia y legislación y la Biblioteca del Real Observatorio de la Armada, según una nota de prensa difundida hoy. La consulta de las obras puede realizarse a través de la web http://bvpb.mcu.es. Todas las imágenes disponibles pueden ampliarse, imprimirse y descargarse. La Biblioteca Virtual del Patrimonio Bibliográfico, que se presentó en septiembre de 2007, cuenta ya con casi 2.000.000 páginas de 7.587 obras procedentes de 34 bibliotecas españolas.

We’ve seen our fair share of AVR projects, but this one’s pretty cool. AVGA is a color video game development platform based on the Atmel AVR family of microcontrollers. As seen in the picture above, one of the AVRs that the project uses is the popular ATMega168. There were several technical hurdles to using the AVRs to run color video games; one of the most difficult problems was figuring out a way to display detailed graphics from AVRs limited onboard RAM. Eventually, the developers figured out a way to display detailed graphics using a TILE-based driver. The TILE driver works by dividing the screen into X and Y coordinates, dividing the graphics into tiles. Then, when a graphic is needed it’s addressed from a reference table that’s stored in the AVR’s onboard RAM, allowing the bitmap graphic to be loaded from a game’s ROM. Currently, the only games available for the platform are a Super Mario clone, a Pacman clone, and a Snake clone. While there are only a few games available, the platform definitely looks promising. If anything, this project serves as a great example for what off the shelf microcontrollers are capable of.

MCU są idealnym rozwiązaniem w przypadku grupowych konferencji gdzie udział bierze więcej niż 6 uczestników lub jest konieczność użycia szerokiego pasma. MCU jest połączony ze wszystkimi uczestnikami. Zarządza i reguluje przychodzące i wychodzące strumienie wideo i audio. Przychodzące dane i strumienie obrazu i dźwięku są wyłącznie mieszane w MCU i następnie odsyłane z powrotem w trybie pełnego dupleksu. Strumienie danych obrazu są obrabiane w dwojaki sposób:

Continuous Presence: Nowy strumień danych jest generowany z przychodzących danych obrazu i jest odsyłany do wszystkich uczestników.

Voice Switching: Kiedy MCU pracuje w trybie Voice Switching , wszyscy połączeniu uczestnicy widzą jedynie osobe aktualnie mówiącą.

Gatekeeper

Gatekeeper jest centralnym urządzeniem kontrolnym zarządzającym połączeniami, rozróżniającym numery i adresy IP jak również ich konwersją.

Gateway (Brama)

Gateway (Brama) umożliwia przeniesienie połączenia pomiędzy sieciami IP a sieciami ISDN.

Kedua saya kirimkan ke dr Margandha yang sebelumnya sebagai kepala MCU di RS OMNI dan sekarang bertugas di RS OMNI Alam Sutera. Keduanya saya kenal dengan baik sebagai hubungan mitra kerja. Tempat saya beraktivitas senantiasa mengirimkan MCU Calon Karyawan yang berdomisili Jabotabek ke RS OMNI Pulomas tersebut. Jadi posisi kami sebagai pelanggan dalam hal ini.

Terkait gencarnya berita Ibu Prita diberbagai media, hati kecil ini tak bisa memungkiri untuk bertindak. Malam itu juga saya kirimkan SMS tersebut dengan bunyi yang sama :
