(photo credits: Farm Chicks, MarsCuriosity twitter, Meags Fitzgerald, Penny Collector, FilmDrunk)

It’s week’s end, here is some good stuff the internet gave to me that I thought I should share:

♠ I am beyond excited to get supplies to make my very own clouds in my house, c/o The Farm Chicks. I may even have to make some to leave at people’s doorsteps, just because I’m weird like that.

♠ I can’t even explain how many tears immediately came to my cheeks when I read this, from yesterday’s Washington Post article: “On what today would have been Bradbury’s 92nd birthday, said Michael Meyer, NASA’s lead scientists for the Mars Exploration Program, ‘In his honor, we declared the place that Curiosity touched down to be forever known as Bradbury Landing.’ “

♠ This is Meags Fitzgerald. She just finished a trans-Atlantic photobooth expedition. She draws, she makes mail art, she has adorable glasses. I wish I could be her BFF.

♠ I just found out that despite having two folder full of squished pennies, I have a LOT to go. (NERD ALERT)

♠ I have been trying to figure this out for a while, and A Beautiful Mess answered my prayers. How to Add Clickable Images to Blog Sidebars

♠ These are posters of romantic comedies, with the faces swapped. Some of them are truly alarming, but dang, Sandra Bullock looks cute with Ryan Reynolds’ hair, no?

♠ Did you know such a science went into beach towel design?

♠ What is the fastest way to learn a foreign language? Shadowing and scriptorium worked pretty well when I learned French.

♠ You can now view all of the voters nominations for Greatest Films, including Quentin Tarantino’s. I absolutely agree with Bad News Bears and His Girl Friday.

♠ The Art of Manliness (seems like every week link to them) has a great article about the Art of Small Talk. While I am not usually fond of making small talk, as someone who deals with strangers, visitors, and tourists daily, it’s something I need to be constantly working on.

Well, that’s it for today. All I can think about is how I get to go mingle with some bats this evening! (more on this Monday, I swear.) Stay tuned for My Home Bar, where I explain how I had to make two margaritas because I *forgot* to photograph the first one.

Photobooth enthusiast and artist Meags Fitzgerald is looking for a publisher for her new book Photobooth A Biography.
I am supposed to be off the blog to get my health in order but couldn’t resist telling you about this fun project. I have copied it verbatim from the relevant website. It is an ambitious project with a fund raising campaign to help get it off the ground. Please check it out (link in title, below) and also take a look at her blog.

The Photobooth Expedition

Hello! I’m Meags Fitzgerald, I’m an artist, illustrator and a photobooth enthusiast in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Over the last nine years I’ve created many ongoing projects, collaborations, art pieces and animations using photobooth pictures. You can see some of my pieces here,http://www.flickr.com/photos/meagsfitzgerald/sets/

Now I’m writing and illustrating a graphic novel (like a comic book) with my knowledge of photobooths. No other book like this has been made! It will be titled Photobooth, A Biography. In order to make this book there are two things I feel I need to experience.

First is the 2012 International Photobooth Convention in Venice, California, happening May 18-19. There I’ll meet other photobooth artists, enthusiasts and experts and I’ll collect their stories for the book.

Secondly, following the convention is a trip to Montreal to visit Auto Photo’s warehouse. Auto Photo is one of the only manufacturers of wet chemistry photobooths left in the world. There I will learn how the booths actually work and learn about the company’s history.

Together, the back to back trips will last 14 days.

This is the final post of four things on http://www.fourfortheday.com but the site will remain open with updates on the things to come.

This has been a truly amazing year with this project. From day one I knew when I was organizing my studio and seeing how many small collections of things I kept and really loved, to Allison Sommers first post on January 2nd 2011, and in early November when all weeks had been assigned, and now when everything is all said and done that the concept of this project was something people really enjoy. We love our stuff and other peoples as well.

I can’t thank the Guest Editor’s enough for making this what it is. It takes courage to expose the things we hold onto. The Guest Editor’s did it and the internet has found out a little more about each of them.

I encourage everyone to keep checking back to find out what is next for this little project. My hope is a bound book and art exhibition. But I am open to other possibilites.

My humble thank you to everyone who made this possible and the collectors around the world, past, present, and future.

Happy New Year.

In terms of your things, what does your space (studio/office/or living area) look like?

I believe that your physical space is a reflection of your head space, and thus you can alter your mental state by changing your environment. I take special care when decorating and setting up my organizational systems. In my studio/office area everything has a designated space and ideally I clean the space every night so I can start a fresh the next morning. I’ve always thought of my bedroom as a safe haven and I like to feel engulfed by the material things I love. It is one giant, well composed nest.

Where do you normally get your things?

I’ve collected most of my stuff while traveling, found in flea markets, antique shops and bazaars. Recently I’ve started buying collectible items online, but only items that I know I could never find in person. Online shopping takes the fun out of the hunt but it’s as equally fun to wait for something delightful to arrive in the mail.

What is your prize possession/”thing”/collectible/tool?

I can’t narrow it down to one, the select few include my 1960s Singer sewing machine which is the only machine to ever understand me, a handwritten cook book that belonged to my late grandmother, and my collection of photo booth pictures that live in two large leather binders and would be the first things I would grab in the event of a fire.
