As young adults that have grown to be more spiritually aware, we realize that we’re at a crossroads with the rest of society. Mediumship is closely related to channeling. The terms channel and medium mean essentially the same thing, although some people believe channels give their bodies and consciousness over completely and allow spiritual beings to speak through them—whereas, mediums receive and transmit messages, while retaining some essence of their human personality. Both channels and mediums enter into a trance state, which can be deep, light, or anywhere in between.  Mediums have the ability to receive impressions from the spiritual dimensions, including hearing a spirit speak (clairaudience), seeing a vision (clairvoyance), smelling an unusual smell, or simply sensing something (clairsentience).

I was initiated as a medium in the Philippines in 1992, when my Third Eye (the 6^th chakra at the forehead), my crown chakra (the 7^th chakra at the top of the head), and my hand chakras were opened by the Filipino faith healers and psychic surgeons. I wrote about this experience in my book PSYCHIC SURGERY AND FAITH HEALING: An Exploration of Multi-Dimensional Realities, Indigenous Healing, and Medical Miracles in the Philippine Lowlands (Red Wheel Weiser 2008). This book was recently revised and published as an e-book, with print copies to follow later this year.

The spiritual gifts I’ve received allow me to see beyond the physical dimension, including the ability to view the human energy field—and also the inside of the body—for the purpose of identifying and helping to correct imbalance and “dis-ease.” I think of these experiences as the Flow of Grace. In my work as a Spiritual Medium, I communicate with spirit while I am in a semi-trance state of consciousness and receive clairvoyant messages and transmit them to others, who have asked me for help. Working through me, spirit might also remove the negative energy of disease and transmits healing energy.

Similar to other mediums, I work with several spirit guides, including The Holy Spirit. Energy from these beings comes in through my crown chakra as a ray of radiant divine light, bringing with it information, which I call the message, and blessings. Often, I can tell which guide is speaking based on the color of the light reflected by the specific guide.

Spirit guides protect and inspire human beings. They communicate with us during meditation and also during the dream state. They might be angels, archangels, ascended masters, saints, deceased family members, animals, and even extraterrestrials. Spirit guides provide advice and information, but they do not tell us what to do, and they are not allowed to interfere with human free will.

MY EXPERIENCE OF CLAIRVOYANCE

Many people expect me to do readings over the phone the way most psychics do, but I prefer to do them alone late at night, because I can go deeper into trance. This allows the information received to be more accurate and effective without the interruptions of talking. The next day, I type it up and send it to the client, usually by e-mail. Then the client is welcome to call me to discuss the message and ask any remaining questions. I am also available for spiritual counseling on the phone.

Long-distance energy healing sometimes occurs spontaneously while I’m doing a reading, but if you specifically want energy healing you will need to see me at my office in Southern Oregon.

TWO EXAMPLES OF A SPIRITUAL MESSAGE

The first message below was given recently for a woman who is trying to decide how to manage hepatitis C; what to do about “brain fog;” and whether to take a job working in a legal marijuana shop up in Washington State, even though she is trying to avoid smoking it herself. The reading was done first, and then a few days later I saw her in person for energy healing. I’ll call her “Sally.” Note that spirit refers to me in the message as “the reader.”

SALLY’S MESSAGE:

She has turned her face toward the light, and the light welcomes her with love and abundance.

Yes, she can work for the medicinal herb store, but she must also keep a partial distance from influences there that might harm her. So go to your work and then come home to your own place to be centered in the light with your children.

Even as you work with the medicine, you can affect those you meet and help them in many beneficial ways. Look into the eyes of each person—those who are suffering from many illnesses—and let love flow from your eyes and your heart. Even though you might be silent, your love will bless the patients, and also you will be blessed.

In order to bring her life to its fullest expression and fruition, her habits must be totally pure in every way. She already knows this, but remember and do not stray from keeping the body very pure. She is at the edge where impure habits could eventually put her beyond repair. As of this point in time, her liver is compromised just 20 percent and her longevity is assured, so keep to the clear and clean path.

The good doctor can test her and suggest the foods and supplements needed for the healing of her body, including vitamin C, a daily multi-B-vitamin, and possibly ginkgo biloba to balance her mental processes.

[Vision] Sally shows Reader a past life when she was a “queen.” She is very regal, and she is wearing golden robes and a crown. This shows a great capacity to wield personal power in a positive way. Reader sees her “arbitrating” conflicts between individuals and also groups. She is a talented manager and administrator, capable of working in complex situations.

Remember always to make time for nature. Take a walk in the woods by a river or a lake with or without your children. Teach them about nature spirits and fairies, and stimulate their imaginations.

[Vision] Sally is in a forest glen. This is in the present, but it also represents an experience from a past life. She is having a “tea party” with her children. The food is spread out on a blanket. There are soft forest noises surrounding them as she reads the children a story. It’s a most peaceful scene.

Reader is instructed to see Sally in person and touch her heal to balance the energy in her brain.

The most interesting thing about Sally’s reading is that when she showed it to her mother, her mom laughed and said that when Sally was a small child they always called her “The Little Queen” because she carried herself like royalty. As in all clairvoyant readings, the validity of the information is “proved” by a small detail such as this.

LORRAINE’S MESSAGE:

The following message was received for a young woman who was experiencing overall body pain, including leg cramps and the inability to stand up for more than a few minutes.

MESSAGE:

The element metal has invaded the tissues of the body, causing a lack of fluidity in the water-based human entity. Thus, every movement of the cells is blocked and stifled.

This condition is a case of cumulative exposure, recent and past. Some is intentional in the mouth [might refer to fillings]. Some is unintentional by airborne and breathing it in.

She can consult a specialist in the removal of this element by the treatment called “chelation therapy.” Do this with the guidance of a naturopathic doctor—not on your own—for successful healing. The doctor can confirm these findings of metal in the body.

During your time of healing, eat mostly vegetables lightly cooked or in soup with miso. Do not overtax the digestion and eliminative organs [likely refers to macrobiotic diet].

She is a light spirit by her nature, a lovely spirit filled with beautiful ideas and visions. She is surrounded by tiny angels, fairy spirits, and she dances with them inside of herself.

Keep as many green plants in your house, dear girl, for the nature spirits will be pleased and support you in recovering the health of your body.

[Vision] She is dancing with the angels in her own room and also outside in the garden. Keep this image foremost in your mind as you are healing. Make dancing with Spirit your most fervent desire, even as your body is heavy. This is only temporary.

Moving to a new location? It will be a “breath of fresh air.” YES! This is a very good choice, especially for healing in the fresh air. Abundance will flow for you and your loved ones in the great sunny open spaces.

Someone who has crossed over has been trying to tell you to change location, and this person is very happy that you are taking her advice [might be female or male; I’m not sure]. She has been “tapping,” or trying to tap, you and objects around you in the hopes that you will notice. She is learning now, how to live in Spirit and it’s not easy for her. She misses the sense of touch—thus the rather ineffectual tapping. In life she was strong, but in Spirit she is still a bit confused about making contact with those still in the body. No worries! Just know you are supported and loved from both sides of the “veil.”

Remember to flow and don’t get stuck. If others around you become upset and worried, especially about moving, know it is only temporary and things will settle down quickly.

Again, the vision of Kim dancing in the garden, light, free, and at peace. Serenity surrounds her.

MAGNETIC HEALING

As a lay minister in the Faith in God Spiritual Church, Pangasinan, Philippines, I am certified to do laying-on-of-hands—which is also called magnetic healing. The basic tenet of the church—and of Spiritualist and Spiritist churches worldwide—is that life after death is real, and communication between the living and the dead is possible.

Magnetic healing is the term used in the Philippines for energy healing. In this type of healing, the hands of the healer are magnetized in such a way that they are able to remove negative energy and also channel in positive energy.

Magnetic healing is related to psychic surgery. During the past ten to fifteen years, many practitioners have stated they do “psychic surgery,” when in reality they are doing magnetic healing. Imagine a continuum with simple energy healing on one end (Reiki, for example)—magnetic healing in the middle—and psychic surgery at the other end of the continuum being the most advanced form of magnetic healing. In other words, both magnetic healing and psychic surgery remove the energy that is a precursor of disease, but the psychic surgeon also has the ability to remove the diseased tissue.

ENERGY HEALING AND SCANNING

Magnetic healing begins with silent recitation of the Lord’s Prayer, which opens my crown (seventh) chakra so I can receive the healing energy. Then I place my hands on the person’s right foot and begin scanning the body by running energy up the leg and into the torso. This is both a passive and active process. The energy comes into me, moves down through my body, and then comes out through my hands and into the other person. This occurs because of my active intention—my will, so to speak—but the energy also has a life and purpose of its own. My role is to follow and support it, observe the results, and report my findings.

Clairvoyant scanning provides many different types of information. It might relate to the person’s current life issues or relationships, energetic cords, a past life, or deceased friends or family members who are trying to make contact. At the physical level, the information might indicate a specific health condition and what might be needed to correct the condition.

Everything seen clairvoyantly comes from the person’s higher self, facilitated by spirit. In other words, I don’t see anything someone doesn’t want to be seen or that should not be seen. If an organ or chakra is healthy, it appears as a nondescript white space or it can’t be seen at all. While doing a scan, I tell the person what I’m seeing, but I try to avoid too much back and forth conversation because it brings me out of trance.

The scanning process usually reveals only that which is causing difficulty and needs resolution. While working as a medium, I try to never question what Spirit chooses to show or not show.

The scan ends with the energy spiraling back down into the left foot. Next, I move to the person’s head and touch them lightly at the temples. This enables me to observe the balance or imbalance between the left and right sides of the brain. If there is a discrepancy, the healing energy will attempt to balance the brain. Seen clairvoyantly, the over-active side of the brain looks bigger, almost swollen, and the less active side looks smaller by comparison. Balancing the brain endeavors to help the two hemispheres of the brain become more of an energetic whole with improved communication.

If the initial scan has indicated difficulties in a specific area of the body, I’ll touch these areas, too. Sometimes toward the end of a healing session, I sense the client has a question, so I’ll ask them about their question and then attempt to receive an answer while I’m still in trance.

Imagine there is a beautiful flower with green leaves in the very center of your chest radiating peace and love. Each time you sit for meditation, let the petals of the flower begin to open, one at a time. When you feel angry, remember the flower in your heart. Put your full conscious attention there, and then just let go. Even if someone provokes you, love will lead you over and above, beyond all hatred and strife.

Yet, we are all here sharing this one experience.  We are separate at a physical level, but we are united at a spiritual level.  How can those levels reside in complete ignorance of each other?  Or maybe there is information shared, but it is given in small doses so that we do not notice it.  A gradual change and merging.  It all starts from within.

You can’t expect to end the world of suffering at a wish.  It starts with you.  Give yourself the loving-kindness that you deserve.  Really feel it in your heart and let it expand out to your whole body.  To your family.  To friends.  To people you might possibly hate or hold a grudge towards.  To people you meet in passing.  To people you don’t know.  To the whole world.  To the whole of existence that you cannot even possibly begin to imagine.

Slowly and gradually we begin to become one with everyone that we meet.  We treat them with the respect that we want ourselves.  We empathize with their situation since we can relate to it.  They are not suffering… we are.  The sooner we let go of that desire to see them in a different situation, the sooner that we will ourselves be free from suffering.  They only suffer because we think they suffer.  We only suffer because we project our suffering on other people.  It can end.

“More cowbell!”

Learning to tweak the radar to interact with animals has been a profound experience.  Besides the unconditional love and humor they share, I’ve been struck by the untamed spirit that each animal brings to a session. Even the most docile housecat is still linked to the wild essence of the Earth. These encounters remind me of the powerful connection between all forms of life.

One of the most important lessons Animal Communication has taught me is to respect their unique place in the universe. We assume that, as humans, we’re superior to those lower down the food chain.  Just ‘cause your dog rolls around in goose poop at the park or your cat chases shadows on the wall, do not take this as a sign that they don’t know what’s really going on.  Animals demonstrate unconditional love, endless forgiveness, a massive capacity for joy and plenty of loyalty. How many people do you know like that?  Didn’t think so.

Still more spiritual than you…..

Respect for an animal is key to communicating with them.

I can’t just start demanding they talk to me. Instead, I need to relax, quiet my ego and wait until they feel comfortable. I mean, imagine if a total stranger came barging into your living room and started trying to get you to reveal details about a personal issue?  Oh yeah, that’s Dr. Phil.  But if it happened, you’d probably want to run and hide, just like a shy kittycat.
 So I give the critters some space.  And some r-e-s-p-e-c-t.

Respect — it’s not just for Miss ‘retha anymore…

And when they talk?  Their conversations are refreshingly simple, direct,  and without all the hoo-ha we humans wrap ourselves in.

My cat Pyewacket frequently tells me to “lighten up” during the day – then does something silly to make me laugh. A horse calmly told me to assure her nervous owner that she fully intended to win a race she was entered in – despite never having won before — then went on to do it (sorry, I won’t be holding court at the OTB anytime soon). A dog who had passed on when her owner was suddenly called into work told me she purposely wanted it that way, because she knew that, if “Mom” had stayed with her, she would have had a much harder time leaving. Letting her owner know that alleviated a huge burden of guilt.

If you’re an animal lover, you’ve most likely had a conversation or two already.  You just didn’t consider it as such.  Like I said, animals talk very simply and directly.  There’s no need for them to really “think it over” –they say what they feel.  And the act of receiving intuitive impressions is actually pretty simple – if you’ve ever had a hunch or gut feeling, you’ve experienced it.  We just make it more complicated than it really is.

Kitty says “Be zen.”

Here are some simple steps to talking to your animal friend(s):

1) Quiet your mind. If you don’t already meditate, learn to do so. You need a “clear palate” to receive any intuitive information. Focus on just breathing, letting random thoughts simply pass by. The goal is to not have a completely blank mind (physically impossible), just one that’s not preoccupied with car pools, grocery lists and work stuff.

2) Approach your animal when they’re relaxed. Sit with them quietly, focusing on your breathing and imagining your energies drawing closer together. Even if they’re not physically close by (like a wild bird or a feral cat), imagine your energies meeting.

3) When you feel relaxed and ready, ask your animal a simple question. The answer may come quickly, as an image, a feeling or a single word. Trust what you get – doubting yourself is the quickest way to shut down the link.

I find that my first impressions are usually the most accurate, and I’ve proven this by logging my “critter conversations” and checking back later.

 So learn to trust what you’re receiving.

If you find yourself getting frustrated, settle down and breathe again. Learning to trust your instincts takes time and patience, but it’s a skill that will serve you well, not just with animals, but in everyday life.

And when you’re done talking with your furry companion, remember to say “thank you.”  Good manners aren’t just for the two-legged types.

The female in Spirit had been murdered. She identified at first as someone who’s passing was quick and unexpected. But that there was a significant gathering out of doors; almost a party surrounding her passing. Right beforehand, I wondered? No- it turned out that there was a huge out of doors rally AFTER her passing.

Why come through? It was an anniversary of her passing coming up. This girl in Spirit needed to get a message through to her mom- to tell her she was OK and to thank her for her special tribute. It turns out that there was a planned tribute coming up in timing with the anniversary of her murder. The caller was working on the tribute and was in the unique position of being able to transmit the message.

Sometimes you get a message and sometimes you are asked to give one- or pass it along. They say all people serve God. Some do so willingly and knowingly and others do so in ignorance. I rather hope that’s true.

People maintain their personalities when they step into Spirit. If your dad’s aunt would have been concerned about your dad’s relationship with his children in the living; chances are it is still a matter of interest to her now.

It turns out that the caller’s father was close to the time he would be crossing over himself. This aunt came through to talk about his medical and personal needs as well as his spiritual ones. She hoped that the caller would take the first step in healing her relationship with her father. The aunt in spirit wanted to help her nephew get some closure with his children.

I don’t know what the caller will choose to do. But sometimes you get a message from spirit; sometimes you deliver one and sometimes it’s both.

I believe to be a great medium you have to go through hell and high-water to understand how to deliver a message appropriately. Many think we speak nicely and are angelic, but the fact is we tell the truth and sometimes the truth is very hard to hear. Sometimes mediums can bring up people and events from the past that are very emotional for the sitter. Things the medium couldn’t possibly know. This is difficult for me to say because I am the guide and my student is typing, I don’t even like to use the word student because she is not my student…but student is the closest word I can muster, she is in fact a medium clairvoyant but she is almost unknown.

Mediums are what I like to call in-betweeners, like twilight and that moment where you are just about to fall asleep…that in-between magic. They stand in both worlds, often going through their day talking to people who have crossed over and talking with the living at the same time. They hold a unique perspective on life because they hear those who have crossed over tell them stories about death, life and beyond. If you are ever lucky enough to sit with my student or other really gifted mediums you should use the time wisely and ask questions from your heart. It sometimes pains me to hear the questions that are asked, like ‘what car should I buy?’ or ‘should I invest in this stock or that bond’ and the list goes on. We are not interested in such things unless it has a profound influence on your life.

Well it ‘just so happened’ (Like I believe that – no such thing as coincidence!) that I’d recently been reading an article on dowsing in a magazine – one of those glossy ones aimed at women with an interest in angels, horoscopes and the like.  I was, remember, at the very start of my spiritual journey!

It took me a long time to figure out what was going on there, but the clash between the new step-mum and the eldest child had started.  He was in great need of support.  So was she.  I did my best and staved things off for a good long time.  It wasn’t until he was several years older and my back was turned for a while that she finally managed to get that boy removed from the family home.

Without Nina’s warning, I wouldn’t have seen it coming, and this was just the start of a long and magical communication with her, and later with others…
