I went out with some friends last night and our travels took us to Best Buy where I picked up some films. I got Big Fish, Shawshank Redemption, and Meet Joe Black on DVD for $5 each and Interview with a Vampire on Blu-Ray for $10. Normally Best Buy’s prices on movies are insanely high (gotta go Amazon all day), but these were some good deals. I’m a huge fan of Big Fish and Meet Joe Black, I’ve somehow only managed to see about 75% of Shawshank Redemption (which is still rated #1 all-time on iMDB), and I’ve been wanting to see Interview with a Vampire for awhile. These are likely to be screened early on for the Film A Day Experience.

I’m studying for my Trig final all day today. Uugghh. Listening to Twothirtyeight and thinking about the time when I fell on the lead singer, back in the day when I just thought I was clumsy haha. I went to see them with Tyler back when we were neighbors…good times.

Yesterday I started wondering what Jordy is up to these days. He didn’t only leave his family. So I got his number from Cameron. Haven’t called him yet because I don’t know what to say to him. ”Hey friend, are you alive still?” It just leads to confusion, anger, and eventually sadness.

I think music is the key to memory. Every single song in my iTunes comes with a memory, whether it’s a face, a feeling, or something completely random. Maybe that’s why music is so amazing. Music can express things that our words cannot.

“A Wonderful World from the Meet Joe Black soundtrack just played. My mind went to Mallory’s room when we watched that movie twice in a row because it was so incredible. And not just because of Brad Pitt. I never think about her anymore, even though we are on the same campus now. Apparently certain songs and a black-light poster of Jim Morrison is all that’s left of that relationship.

Anyways this seems like a good place to stop myself. My calculator beckons.

I would rather have had one breath of her hair, one kiss from her mouth, one touch of her hand, than eternity without it.

- City of Angels

A heart can be broken; but it keeps beating just the same.

-Fried Green Tomatoes

You’re not perfect sport, and let me save you the suspense, this girl you met, she isn’t perfect either. But the question is whether or not you’re perfect for each other.

- Good Will Hunting

Love is passion, obsession, someone you can’t live without. If you don’t start with that, what are you going to end up with? Fall head over heels. I say find someone you can love like crazy and who’ll love you the same way back. And how do you find him? Forget your head and listen to your heart. I’m not hearing any heart. Run the risk, if you get hurt, you’ll come back. Because, the truth is there is no sense living your life without this. To make the journey and not fall deeply in love – well, you haven’t lived a life at all. You have to try. Because if you haven’t tried, you haven’t lived.

-Meet Joe Black

Summer romances begin for all kinds of reasons, but when all is said and done, they have one thing in common. They’re shooting stars, a spectacular moment of light in the heavens, fleeting glimpse of eternity, and in a flash they’re gone.

- The Notebook

I’ve kissed a guy… I’ve kissed guys. I just haven’t felt that thing…. That thing… that moment when you kiss someone and everything around you becomes hazy, and the only thing in focus is you and this person. And you realize that that person is the only person you’re supposed to kiss for the rest of your life. And for one moment you get this amazing gift. And you wanna laugh and you wanna cry, ‘cause you feel so lucky that you’ve found it, and so scared that it’ll go away all at the same time.

I’m not sure exactly how many films I’ve seen in my lifetime.

It is probably over a thousand, the list below barely scratches the surface of all the films I’ve seen and it was surprisingly easy to come up with. Rather than systematically list films by era or genre I got my brother’s girlfriend Dawn to call out any films she could think of.

I thought of this idea about five minutes before I began typing and Dawn rattled off films as they came to her while I typed out brief verdicts for each one. I initially intended to create a system for rating but found it too restrictive so I just wrote a brief instinctual verdict for each one.

I have included a link to Rotten Tomatoes and the score of each film, I haven’t seen some of these movies in a very long time…

NOTE: The percentages at the end are not my scores but the percentage of positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes.

I wonder if death served up as Angelina,

Hi....Im Jill...Shall we Dance?

back in 1989 when Brad Pitt played Death in the Movie ”Meet Joe Black” would have done so well. Can death be as alluring and mesmerizing in the body of a beautiful woman as much as that of a handsome man. Needless to say death will come to us all and when it does I doubt that it will look anything like Angelina or Brad Pitt for that matter.

And for most of us when it does come, we will not notice its rude and interrupted violation of our lives until it is much too late. Watching the movie tonight , it does arouse a number of very powerful emotions and looking at it again ten years later from when I saw it first it seems ever more so poignant.

Here I think is one of the memorable quotes from the movie…

” Love is passion, obsession, someone you can’t live without. Because, the truth is there is no sense living your life without this? To make the journey and not fall deeply in love – well, you haven’t lived a life at all. You have to try. Because if you haven’t tried, you haven’t lived.”

I wonder how many of us went to bed tonight, whether married or not single or in a relationship it really does not matter..And we have not yet lived. We still have not made the journey and fallen deeply in love with someone or something. And I don’t mean a thing like a car or a house or a pair of golf clubs..I mean a cause, a passion..Yes a passion that we believe deeply in feel passionately for and devote our lives to. I don’t really care what…more that we have at some stage in our lives reached beyond the grey populist world and into a world of color and depth and meaning. Of feeling and vibrancy measured not by dollars and cents but by passion and sense

Say hi to Joe..or Jill

You see that’s what strikes me most when I watch this movie and especially around this quote…Because if you haven’t tried you haven’t lived. Because if you haven’t done what your heart and not just what your head desires then you are dead already. ..You exist, you breathe but there is no breath, you have a thought but there is little thinking, and you have an urge put it is not a passion. And I keep saying the word passion because its a word we hear very little of. ..What do you feel passionately about? What consumes you secretly in a way that it turns your world upside own, if only you would let it?

Vigor, vitality, these are living words. When was the last time you were able to say that you did something with vigor or vitality..To quote again from the movie Meet Joe Black..

” that you would have a life as lucky as mine, where you can wake up one morning and say, “I don’t want anything more.”

Is this the life we live? Is it a life where by we can say, that is has been so full, and so good that I want for nothing more. I have loved like I have always wanted to. Danced like there is no tomorrow, Said the words that need to be said to the people that matter…spent time with those I have neglected..Forgiven those that have offended me and asked forgiveness and made restitution for those that I have hurt..Each and every day surely this must play some part in the ritual that we call a day. God I am sick to death of the word busy coming out of my mouth. Busy? Busy doing what.. Maintaining the grey in my world so no color cloud ever escape and expose the true dullness that it is or could be.

Busy, busy busy, busy Auckland

Busy is bullshit…That’s what it is..its head in the sand stuff..its not living just existing stuff..We should have no time for busy and should not placate to its sedative kind of living. Turn the bloody TV off and talk to someone. Call a friend up and make a time to meet ,to connect to be connected. If ever there was a time that we as people needed to ensure our connectedness with significant others it is now.

In this virtual age, of which funnily enough this medium can be one…the only reality we seem to digest and by the bucket load, is rubbish they serve us called reality TV. But it’s not real…its edited and cut and produced for mass production. It’s a misnomer to call it reality TV because it’s just a have.

One day and I don’t know when, though the later the better I will have my date with Jill Black. She will call me to her side and we will dance a final dance, and speak a final word and we shall depart together. That and taxes apparently in life area the only certainties. The only other certainty is that in a moment in time I will take stock of my life as it whizzes past my eyes from start to finish, every piece like a page in a cartoon penned in the corner of a book. Flickering past as I watch it being played out.

I wonder how many have gone before me and at that moment ,hoped this was just the intermission…that somehow this was only the first half and here was still another half to play. If Death had meaning, then that meaning would be realized at that moment..When you realize this is not the intermission..This is the end. Death is a life not lived, an opportunity squandered, thats what death really means and we walk past, work with and speak to dead people everyday. They just dont know it yet.

DO SOMETHING! For gods sake do what you’ve always wanted, always hoped for, always dreamed, always desired, always romanced about. Love your kids like there is no tomorrow, call those that have always been there for you and build bridges and pathways for those in your world so as the connective strands can be made stronger and more real. Surely this is what we call living. I know I have been “busy” for a long time. Busy busy busy…and another day goes by and another day closer to meeting Joe or Jill Black. Come on lets live a little…I Dare Ya!

A media mogul acts as a guide to Death, who takes the form of a young man to learn about life on Earth and in the process, fall in love with his guide’s daughter. Some great performances by Hopkins and Pitt. Superb ending scene . Film starts off slowly and the pace can drag but its worth it for the ending alone.Well written and superb soundtrack. Again with the father heart string being plucked, it can’t fail.

ManCry star rating ****** 6/10

THIS IS THE LAST 100 THINGS POST!!! …at least for a while. I may just continue doing a “

THIS IS THE LAST 100 THINGS POST!!! …at least for a while. I may just continue doing a “twenty things that I . . .” post every now and then. It’s way fun.

OK. This collection of twenty things, in conclusion of my 100 random facts about me series, concerns movies.

God, I love movies.

I consider myself a cinephile, and I’m forcing myself to branch out and see things that I wouldn’t normally see (especially if the film contains suggestive material) simply because there are some great movies out there just waiting to be enjoyed! That’s why God gave us the Fast-Forward button the remote, right? Here, here!

So now the list. These twenty films extend from my childhood and into my present. Some are new. Some are really old. Some are just plain random. At any rate, these are the movies that I will want to watch for no reason at all, given that I have the proper amount of time free to enjoy a motion picture. I love these movies, and they love me back.

1. Say Anything.

You all knew this would be first. Say Anything is the movie that (1) made me love John Cusack, (2) made me love Peter Gabriel, and (3) made me love Cameron Crowe. Ever since this movie, Cameron Crowe has become my favorite director. I love his movies (even Singles and Vanilla Sky). I can’t get enough. He has a gift with showing humanity in simplicity and reality. You’ll find several other Crowe films on this list.

“I”m looking for a dare-to-be-great situation.”

—

“I gave her my heart. She gave me a pen.”

—

“Don’t be a guy. The world is full of guys. Be a man. Don’t be a guy.”

—

“This rain on my car is a baptism. My assault on the world begins now.”

—

~*~

2. Grosse Pointe Blank.

I think the reason I love this movie isn’t its 80s music or because John Cusack stars in it (well, OK. Maybe a little). What I love about this movie is its humor–it’s smart humor! John Cusack as a professional killer is a great way to make a movie simply because he doesn’t really seem the type to kill the president of Paraguay with a fork. Also, just like Say Anything, pens become meaningful.

“Where are all the good men dead–in the heart or in the head?”

—

“So what do you do for a living, Martin?”

“I’m a professional killer.”

“Oh, do you get dental with that?”

—

~*~

3. The Godfather

OF COURSE THIS IS ON MY LIST! I freaking love this movie. Stellar performances from Marlon Brando, Al Pacino, Robert Duvall, James Caan–my God! I honestly couldn’t move from my seat the first time I watched this. For nearly three hours of my life, I sat motionless, completely engrossed in the goings-on of the Corleone family.

“Don Corleone, I am honored and grateful that you have invited me to your home on the wedding day of your daughter. And may their first child be a masculine child.”

—

“Leave the gun. Take the cannoli.”

—

“We go to the mattresses.”

~*~

4. Pride and Prejudice

Um. Duh. You all know how my affections for Matthew Macfadyen as Mr. Darcy force me to watch this movie over and over. I even like Kiera Knightley as Elizabeth. Seriously. When does that happen? It’s like Lois Lane–you always hate anyone who plays Lois Lane (partially because you really hate Lois Lane as a character) because they don’t seem to do it right. Well, Kiera Knightley does a fine job–perhaps due to the chemistry between her and Matthew. Oh, and I also downloaded the complete soundtrack from iTunes and listen to it in my car. I’m such a nerd.

“I can’t help thinking that at some point someone is going to produce a piglet and we’ll all have to chase it.”

—

“”I love you. Most ardently.”

—

“Well, if Jane does die, it will be a comfort to know she was in pursuit of Mr. Bingley.”

I still don’t think I’ve understood everything in this movie, and I don’t think I ever will. Nevertheless, I loved everything about this–the creep factor, the constant “What the hell’s going on?” and, ultimately, the happy/sad/what? ending. The ending reminded me of David Lynch’s Blue Velvet in theme–the bright, pretty face of suburbia is simply that–a face. Underneath is a seedy underbelly filled with all sorts of nastiness.

“First of all, Papa Smurf didn’t create Smurfette. Gargamel did. She was sent in as Gargamel’s evil spy with the intention of destroying the Smurf village. But the overwhelming goodness of the Smurf way of life transformed her. And as for the whole gang-bang scenario, it just couldn’t happen. Smurfs are asexual. They don’t even have… reproductive organs under those little, white pants. It’s just so illogical, you know, about being a Smurf. You know, what’s the point of living… if you don’t have a dick?”

—

“Why are you wearing that stupid man suit?”

—

“28 days… 6 hours… 42 minutes… 12 seconds. That… is when the world… will end.”

—

“Donnie Darko? What the hell kind of name is that? It’s like some sort of superhero or something.”

“What makes you you think I’m not?”

The Lord of the Rings Trilogy

Everything about all three of these films captures me every time I watch them. The cinematography, the writing, the direction–everything. My mom and I watch these movies every year at Christmas–one a day until Christmas Eve when we wrap up The Return of the King and then open presents, and I look forward to that tradition even in the summer! I can’t get enough. I find myself quoting these movies all the time–sometimes at appropriate intervals, others at completely random moments. <3

—

“Hold your ground, hold your ground! Sons of Gondor, of Rohan, my brothers! I see in your eyes the same fear that would take the heart of me. A day may come when the courage of men fails, when we forsake our friends and break all bonds of fellowship, but it is not this day. An hour of woes and shattered shields, when the age of men comes crashing down! But it is not this day! This day we fight! By all that you hold dear on this good Earth, I bid you stand, Men of the West!”

—

“Where is the horse and the rider? Where is the horn that was blowing? They have passed like rain on the mountain, like wind in the meadow. The days have gone down in the West behind the hills into shadow. How did it come to this?”

First of all, Lee Pace is INCREDIBLE. There is friendship, betrayal, death, rebirth–all of it!
This movie is so great on many levels: Rupert Grint’s excellent acting, Julie Walter’s superb personality, and the overall happy feeling I got from watching this movie. I enjoy British films, especially when they’re incredibly awkward (i.e. Robert Pattinson’s How To Be!!! Loved it in its awkwardness). Brilliant.

I loved this movie, and I loved its book! Neil Gaiman is a superb writer. I’m loving everything of his that I’m reading. And this movie is pretty close to the book with only a few real changes. I can just watch this movie anytime, anywhere, and not get sick of it. Plus Ben Barnes makes a cameo appearance at the beginning, so that’s DEFININTELY a treat for me! =P Aaaand Robert De Niro as a homosexual pirate captain is simply fantastic.

This movie was so fun to watch! I think Brad Pitt earned a little bit more respect from me because of this movie. While the filming and action are all pretty great in this movie, the best part, in my opinion, are the quotes. Gut Ritchie is a pretty talented director, but his writers are the people responsible for the movie’s overall success. For example:

“My name is Turkish. Funny name for an Englishman, I know. My parents to be were on the same plane when it crashed. That’s how they met. They named me after the name of the plane. Not many people are named after a plane crash. That’s Tommy. He tells people he was named after a gun, but I know he was really named after a famous 19th century ballet dancer.”

—

“No, Tommy. There’s a gun in your trousers. What’s a gun doing in your trousers?”

“It’s for protection.”

“Protection from what” ‘Zee Germans’?”

—

HOLY COW THIS MOVIE’S INCREDIBLE. Aside from the fact that I’ll pretty much watch anything with Hugh Jackman, this movie really rocked my world. Sometimes I get the urge to watch it when I’m in the middle of work or something else, and I think about the beautiful story, the breathtaking cinematography, and the outstanding special effects.
Ah hahaha! I freaking love this movie for its 80s nostalgia and for Val Kilmer’s smartass badass persona. So great! And John Gries is awesome as Laslo (he later becomes Napoleon’s Uncle Rico!!). I watched this movie every time it came on television until I broke down and bought my own DVD. Every 80s-themed movie marathon must include this film. Must. Mandatory. Oh, and Val Kilmer’s shirt = I HAVE TO HAVE IT. It’s online somewhere, I just know it. Birthday *wink wink*???

—

“Do you mind if I name my first child after you? ‘Dipshit Knight’ has a nice ring to it.”

—

“Oh, Kent, that is so unfair! And we were going to make you King of the Winter Carnival.”

—

“That’s a wonderful story, Bodie. I noticed you’ve stopped stuttering.”

Ed Harris is always great, in my book, but Jim Carrey really surprised me. I can’t imagine what it would be like to discover that the world you’ve known your entire life was built and constructed by one person in order to make a television show the first of its kind. I teach from this movie, and my students love it.

—

“We accept the reality of the world with which we are presented.”

This movie is so great!! Any Cameron Crowe film is worth my time, and Elizabethtown is no exception. Again, Cameron Crowe has a talent with showing humanity and people at their best, their worst, and in between. I never tire of his films, and I especially never tire of this movie. I love how the small town life is not mocked but praised in this movie and that family is more important than anything life throws at you. Sigh. So good.

Oh, MAN! This has to be one of my top fave Depp movies. He’s fantastic, not to mention I don’t absolutely hate Leonardo DiCaprio in this movie (loved him in R+J, loved him in Titanic, haven’t really been a fan since). But this movie really ripped my heart out and showed it to me. Poor Gilbert. Poor everybody. The one part of the movie where I was a basket case was when Gilbert’s mother had to go to get Arthur, leaving the house to be seen for the first time in ages. And people whisper about her, stare at her–that really broke my heart. Gah! Freaking movies that make me cry!!!

“I love the sky. It’s so limitless.”

“It is big. It’s very big.”

“Big doesn’t even sum it up, right? That word big is so small.”

Two words: Tiny Dancer. That’s one of the biggest scene of any Hollywood film, and it belongs to Cameron Crowe, just like Lloyd Dobler and the radio over his head. How does he do it–how does he make incredible movies? Well, maybe that’s because his characters are just people. Maybe the plots are really sorta believable because they’re just people doing people things. I wonder how long these movies sit inside of his head until they come out to be worked and reworked until they’re masterpieces. I wonder. This movie is altogether incredible–one of my all time favorites (duh, it’s on this list). <333!!!

What draws me to this movie? It certainly isn’t Brad Pitt, although he is exceptionally handsome in this movie (and shows his skill as well) because I was never influenced by his looks. It isn’t Anthony Hopkins, although he’s esteemed in Hollywood. I think it’s the multi-dimensional storytelling that takes place in the film–you have Anthony Hopkins’ character who faces death, Brad Pitt’s who is possessed by the Angel of Death, and the two sisters where (1) one receives favortism from their father in spite of her best efforts to receive approval, praise, and attention, and (2) the other’s feelings for Brad Pitt’s character who will take her father away on his birthday.

Yeah. That’s it.

—

“Love is passion, obsession, someone you can’t live without. Because if you haven’t tried, you haven’t lived.”

THIS MOVIE IS SO B.A.!!! I really don’t care much about Matt Damon, but Jason Bourne is incredible. I love all three of these movies and sometimes really crave them. I was raised on action flicks, so the Bourne trilogy is accepted in my house. My mom, dad, and I always watch it together if one of us starts it. It’s funny–somehow all three of us migrate to the living room. The second movie, though, is my favorite of the three. As soon as Marie dies, he goes off the deep end and really gives Langley hell, and I love every minute of it!

—

I said to myself before I go any further writing in this blogspot of mine, I should not forget to mention that the movie Meet Joe Black is my all-time ultimate favorite movie. Well, that’s a clue – I’m female. Never knew any male gender who fell for this movie. Let me see, this movie was first released in 1998. Wow 11 years ago! Still hits me the same ways as the first time I watched it. Of course, Brad Pitt was at his best. He is so good-looking, eventhough he played Death in the movie.

Wouldn’t it be cool if Death would indeed appear to be as handsome as Brad? I’m sure death won’t be such a scary thing to anyone anymore.

Anthony Hopkins who played William Parrish, really brought out the way an ideal father should be – who only wishes happiness for his daughters. He was also a very good guide to Death in knowing the beauty of mortality – falling in love.

As for Claire Forlani, Susan Parrish in the movie was something. She has the talent of always looking teary-eyed even when smiling. Making her character a very deep person. I feel her emotions. Sometimes in life you often wish that when you are in a relationship, you don’t use words as much but rather feelings. At least, with too much emotions, you don’t end up hurting anybody with nasty words. Oh well, just a thought…

I can’t count the times I watched this movie. I suggest, you should try watching it again.

Coming on this planet was a thrill. I’ve been here before and not only once. I cannot remember how many times. 3 years ago I had a dream about apparently infinite journey. In that dream I was successively: e black in Africa living in a hut, a Mexican in a dry and sandy dessert, a white in England spying the French (I believe was during Napoleon’s time). These are the marks in time I remember. The last scene of this dream: I was sitting on England’s coast on a drop-off cliff, surrounded by waist tall grass, thinking about all the existences I had on this planet, when I saw my grand father, who died long ago. He was standing in the grass, with his hard worked hands resting on his walking stick looking at me. Before I was capable of uttering a word, he raised his hand with the finger pointed upwards, in a left to right motion: “it is not over yet”. Then I thought that I may have to die to be reborn here yet again. Or maybe not.

Sometime after that dream I realised that, I had made a dear friend during this journey. Actually I read a book about Death. It was depicted as a non gender entity, part of the Creator’s energy, with the mission to company the soul from lower dimensions to higher resting places . Reading that book I had an epiphany: I met this guy before, I know him and I trust him! We all know him, only we don’t want to admit it. Watch “Meet Joe Black” again.

Brad Pitt

Dünyaca ünlü aktör Brad Pitt’in geçmişten günümüze uzanan parlak kariyerindeki rol aldığı filmleri resimleriyle hatırlamak istermisiniz?

A River Runs Through It – Bizi Ayıran Nehir (1992)

A River Runs Through It

1920′lerde geçen bu filmde Pitt yine kendi karakterine uygun olan asi genç rolünde oynamıştır.

Kalifornia (1993)

Kalifornia

Interview with the Vampire – Vampirle Görüşme (1994)

Interview with the Vampire

Geldik oyuncunun ciddi anlamda kendini gösterdiği Vampirle Görüşme filmine. Yıldızlarla dolu bu filmde Pitt, Tom Cruise , Christian Slater , Antonio Banderas gibi oyuncularla birlikte insancıl vampir Louis rolünde boy gösteriyordu. Vampir kavramına farklı bir bakışla yaklaşan filmde Kirsten Dunst 12 yaşındaki haliyle çocuk oyuncu olarak yer alıyordu.

Legends of the Fall – İhtiras Rüzgarları (1994)

Legends of the Fall

Aynı sene uzun saçlarını kestirmeden rol alan Pitt, masalsı görüntüleri, güzel müzikleri, uzun ve romantik hikayesiyle İhtiras Rüzgarlarında, Tristam adlı karakteri canlandıyordu.

Se7en – Yedi (1995)

Se7en

David Fincher şaheseri bu filmde Pitt, 7 ölümcül günahtan ilham alarak cinayet işleyen katilin peşindeki David Mills adındaki genç ve idealist dedektifi canlandırmıştır. Pitt’in rol arkadaşı da usta aktör Morgan Freeman olmuştur. İzlenmesi gereken filmlerden biri olduğunu söylemeden geçmek istemiyorum.

Twelve Monkeys – 12 Maymun (1995)

Twelve Monkeys

Aynı sene çekilen kült bilimkurgu filmi 12 Maymun’da, Pitt oyunculukta ne kadar başarılı olduğunu kanıtlarcasına akıl hastası Jeffrey Goines rolünde yer almıştır. Ve bu rolüyle Altın Küre En İyi Erkek Oyuncu ödülünü almıştır.

Seven Year in Tibet – Tibet’te Yedi Yıl (1997)

Seven Years in Tibet

Heinrich Harrer adında Avustralyalı dağcının Tibet’te yaşadıklarından sonra geçirdiği ruhsal değişimi anlatan bu film Pitt’in, Çin’e girişinin yasaklanmasına neden olmuştur.

Meet Joe Black (1998)

Meet Joe Black

Uzun ve son derece ağır giden bu filmde Pitt, devamlı takım elbiseyle dolaşan yakışıklı ölüm meleği rolündedir. Romantik – dram türünde olan yapımda oyuncuya usta oyuncu Anthony Hopkins , Claire Forlani gibi isimler eşlik etmiştir.

Fight Club – Dövüş Kulübü (1999)

Fight Club

Yine bir David Fincher şaheseri olan Dövüş Kulübü’nde, kült karakter Tyler Durden’ı canlandırarak yeni bir akımın doğmasında etkili olmuştur. Dövüş Kulübü, oyuncunun başarısını tüm dünyaya kabul ettirdiği film sayılabilir.

Snatch – Kapışma (2000)

Snatch

Bu filmde bozuk aksanı, kaslı vücuduyla arzı endam eden Pitt, çingene boksör Mickey rolünü canlandırır.

Spy Game – Casus Oyunu (2001)

Spy Game

Genç ve yetenekli ajan Tom Bishop rolünde Robert Redford’la birlikte oynamıştır.

Ocean’s Eleven (2001)

Ocean’s Eleven

Geniş ve yıldız dolu kadrosuyla bu eğlenceli soygun filminde Pitt, devamlı yemek yiyen Rusty karakteriyle boy göstermiştir.

Troy (2004)

Troy

Efsanevi Aşil karakterini canlandıran oyuncu 6 ay spor yaparak oluşturduğu Antik Yunan Heykellerini andıran vücuduyla boy göstermiştir.

Mr. and Mrs. Smith (2005)

Mr. and Mrs. Smith

Babel – Babil (2006)

Babel

Pitt’in artık orta yaşlı olduğunu gösteren filmde oyuncu aile babası Richard Jones rolündeydi.

The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford – Korkak Robert Ford’un Jesse James Suikastı (2007)

The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford

Burn After Reading – Aramızda Casus Var (2008)

burn after reading

Coenler’in filminde Pitt, alıştığımız karizmatik rollerinin aksine sakar ve aptal Chad karakterini başarıyla canlandırıyordu.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button – Benjamin Button’un Tuhaf Hikayesi (2008)

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

Yaşlı olarak doğup bebek olarak ölen Benjamin Button’un hikayesini anlatan bu ilginç filmde Pitt, Oscar adaylığı kazandığı oyunculuğuyla harikalar yaratıyordu.

Inglorious Basterds – İsimsiz Kahramanlar (2009)

Inglorious Basterds

Umarım bu uzun bildirim fazla can sıkıcı olmamıştır.

In second place, just missing off the number 1 spot is . . . Brad Pitt . . . which I am sure is not

In second place, just missing off the number 1 spot is . . . Brad Pitt . . . which I am sure is not a suprise at all.

Brad has always been very very sexy and will always be very very sexy. He does not seem to age, and is pretty close to what you would call perfect in my eyes. He is also a fantastic actor to go with it all, sometimes I think he is underrated because of his good looks.

He has been in some very big hits at the box office, including the Ocean’s series of movies in which he is a lead role alongside his good friend George Clooney. Which helps make a very sexy set of movies. He has had some of the most beautiful women as his co-stars, such as Julia Roberts, Catherine Zeta Jones and Angelina Jolie. Which certainly makes his roles even hotter when he is with those women. He is now with Angelina Jolie, after the very public split from Jennifer Aniston (who I just loved him with). They have 6 children together, 3 adopted and 3 biological. I think when you see pictures of Brad with the children it makes him even sexier, as it is just lovely to see a man being so caring with children.

Brad has been around for quite a long time now but it is still hard to believe that he is in his 40’s now as he still looks so good. I think one of his stand out movies is “Meet Joe Black” in which he plays death, who falls in love and gets to know what living is like. He was just so gorgeous in this movie it was hard for everyone to not fall in love with him.

Another of his real stand out roles has to be “Fight Club” everyone remembers his speechs and his very muscular body !!! He really was ripped in that movie and totally fit the part of Tyler Durden.

He has changed his hairstyle quite a lot over the years but still manages to always look really hot. He has had to change the colour to blonder or darker for different movie roles as well but it certainly does not change his face and he still looks great !!!

He has been voted world’s sexiest man by people magazine in the past and no one can deny how true that is. He always seems so nice and charming when he does interviews, and when he is on the red carpet he totally owns it without even trying. He is just a very sexy man who does not have to put any effort into looking sexy.

As already mentioned above he has the perfect body as well, of a 6-pack . . . got to love that !!!

From the mind-numbing, three-hour snoozefest that was “Meet Joe Black,” comes this priceless bit of unintentional hilarity in the form of our dreamboat, Brad Pitt, meeting his maker. I’m not sure how in the world the filmmakers thought anyone was going to be moved by this cartoonish bit, and I can only imagine most people had the same reaction I had when I first saw it – busting out in laughter.

(a previous post from the former NuPoppa blog)

Our DVR is peppered with the funny (Graham Norton Show, The Daily Show, 30 Rock, SNL, Flight of the Conchords), what I’ll call WTF (Oliver Twist, Barry Manilow concert — clearly my wife’s) and the simply awesome. The “simply awesome” consists of: Fletch, Animal House, Fletch Lives, Vacation, Caddyshack, Gung Ho! and a Barry Manilow concert (kidding).

I don’t drink (anymore), but the “simply awesome” USED to be called “hangover movies.” These are the movies that, on a lazy Saturday or Sunday (or Wednesday for some of you) you can rely on. You can watch the first 20 minutes with one eye open, then fall asleep for 30 minutes, wake up, finish it to the end and still feel satisfied. Back in the day, that would have included about 5 Advil and 2.6 gallons of water to hydrate. Drooling on pillows and couches was also usually de rigeur.

These are also movies that, sadly or simply awesome-ly, most men can quote with relative proficiency. So, it begs the question: what should be the first movie that my son and I share together when he gets older? Should it be highly quotable? Should it be educational?

Some in the running:

Fletch
Pluses: It is only one of the greatest movies written and made for the male 38-42 set. Period. This tightly-wound romp is highly-quotable. I can already imagine my boy at a party of my peers saying, “John Cock..toas…ton.” Throw a lampshade on his head and he’ll be life of the party.

Minuses: I see none.

Lessons Learned in film: Never trust Joe Don Baker. I think this is a lesson we all should learn. Kidding. He would kick my ass if he read this.

Animal House
Pluses: Filmed in Oregon. Classic dialogue. A heartwarming story about college life. Shama-Lama-Ding-Dong.

Minuses: Otis Day and the Knights have never been the same since.

Lessons learned in film: Fat, drunk and stupid is no way to go through life.

Vacation
Pluses: The late, great John Hughes. Beverly DeAngelo buffin’ it up a bit. Chevy Chase at his finest. The Wagon Queen Family Truckster with the optional Rally Fun Pack. Eugene Levy calling Rusty “Rueben.”

Minuses: Not 100% realistic about what a family vacation is about. It’s more like 96% real.

Lessons learned in film: There is no way in hell we are driving a long distance anywhere. I refuse to put my boy through that.

Out of Africa
Pluses: For our purposes here, very few, though it is a fine film. The late Sydney Pollack was a genius.

Minuses: It’s “Meet Joe Black”-long. I mean, REALLY fu**ing long.

Lessons learned in film: Those rich, white bastards screwed it all up. Africa is best experienced doing humanitarian work. If the boy wants to be in the Peace Corps someday, I’m all for it.

Everyone Says I Love You
Pluses: Great cast. Alan Alda. Natalie Portman. Drew Barrymore. Julia Roberts. Woody Allen. Goldie Hawn. The list goes on.

Minuses: Edward Norton, though a FINE actor, isn’t a very good singer. And he’ll probably kick my ass if he reads this.

Lessons learned in film: If s**t goes sideways, it’s OK to sing a little. Just don’t do it in public, people might think you’re a freak or something.

Die Hard
Pluses: Bruce Willis is from South Jersey, where my family lives. And, of course, Alan Rickman. He’s SO money.

Minuses: The dude with the long blonde hair. He’s creepy.

Lessons learned in film: Kick ass first. Take names later.

Say Anything
Pluses: John and Joan Cusack. Cameron Crowe (who could write something on a cocktail napkin and I’d probably read it). Ione Skye. Piven as a younger man. Seattle. It captured the angst that we all felt when we were in college.

Minuses: “In Your Eyes.” Great song, but I have this uncontrollable urge to buy a boombox and hold it over my head. It captured the angst we all felt when we were in college.

Lessons learned in film: Don’t live in Seattle. You’ll just end up going to London on a study abroad program anyway.

Believe me, we have plenty of time to go over this, but one can never be too prepared. I’d love your thoughts on the first movie I should share with the boy. It can be on the list or one not on the list that you think is a winner.
