Comingsoon.net has posted the first pictures for Warner Bros. Pictures’ two new comic book adaptation films The Losers and Jonah Hex.

Jonah Hex opens up in theaters nationwide on June 18, 2010 and stars Josh Brolin (No Country For Old Men), John Malkovich (Burn After Reading), Megan Fox (Transformers), Will Arnett (Arrested Development) and Michael Shannon (Revolutionary Road).

Jonah Hex is about a scarred bounty hunter tracks a voodoo practitioner bent on liberating the South by raising an army of the undead in the Wild West.

The Losers opens in theaters nationwide on April 9, 2010 and stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Supernatural), Zoe Saldana (Star Trek), Chris Evans (Fantastic Four), Idris Elba (Obsessed), Columbus Short (Stomp The Yard), Holt McCallany (Alpha Dog), Oscar Jaenada (Che: Part Two), Jason Patric (My Sister’s Keeper) and Peter Macdissi (Six Feet Under).

The Losers is about members of a CIA black ops team root out those who targeted them for assassination after being betrayed and left for dead.

A Warner Bros divulgou a primeira imagem oficial da adaptação dos quadrinhos para o cinema de Jonah Hex, personagem da DC Comics. Veja abaixo Josh Brolin como o desfigurado personagem:

Ficou bem parecido o original e que lembra muito as cicatrizes do Duas Caras de Batman- O Cavaleiro das Trevas. Para melhorar ainda mais o elenco do filme conta com Megan Fox.

A história se passa após a Guerra Civil nos EUA, quando o Sul escravagista, o exército dos Confederados, foi derrotado pelo lado norte abolicionista, os soldados da União. Jonah Hex (Josh Brolin) é um desfigurado caçador de recompensas que é contratado para deter um fazendeiro sulista (John Malkovich) que pretender montar um exército para reverter a guerra civil e retornar o poder que tinha antes.

O roteiro é de Mark Neveldine e Brian Taylor (dupla de Adrenalina) e a direção é de Jimmy Hayward (Horton e o Mundo dos Quem).

Min enda kulturkonsumtion senaste tiden har varit filmer i genren thriller/rysare, med olika variationer.

Angående Jennifer’s Body så har jag läst att den ska vara “the best teen slasher of the 21st century”. Och Megan Fox är ju alltid het, tänker jag. Men ack så fel på alla sätt. Megan Fox är ganska ohet för att vara Megan Fox. Filmen aspirerar förvisso på att vara en teen slasher men är på tok för snäll i alla avseenden. Det är för lite nakenhet och för lite blod. Man brukar kunna gömma ett halvdant manus i denna genre i just nakenhet och blod, men i detta fall blir det väldigt tydligt att manuset suger. Tjej hoppar in i bil med rockband, offras till satan av nämnda rockband för att de ska bli världsstjärnor, men eftersom hon inte är oskuld så blir hon istället besatt av demon, hälsar på sin bästa kompis och spyr svart gojs på hennes golv så kompisen måste vara uppe hela natten och torka golvet. Och sen börjar hon döda folk också.

Vidare på temat teen slashers, My Bloody Valentine har betydligt mer att komma med. Här kan man verkligen snacka om 2000-talets uppdatering av teen slasher-filmer. För att pricka av checklistan – nakenhet (och sex!): check, blod i massor: check. Vad som är intressant är att man till nästan 100 % använt sig av CGI (halvkass sådan) för filmens splattereffekter, vilket leder till en del ganska spännande sådana, och jag kan bortse från CGIns kvalitet just på grund av att den är så innovativ. Jag blir glad inombords när jag ser en blodblandad käke flyga in i kameran. Inte heller här är manuset någon höjdare, men det gör desto mindre när man har sånt godis att gotta sig i.

Avslutningsvis ska jag belysa en lite modernare skräckhistoria, Strangers. Återigen valde jag att se en skräckfilm på grund av dess kvinnliga huvudrollsinnehavare, Liv Tyler denna gång. Jag har saknat henne under tiden hon fött barn och haft sig, eller vad hon nu har gjort. Jag bör tidigt säga att i extramaterialet nämner regissören att detta inte är en “horror movie” utan snarare en “terror movie”, det finns inga övernaturliga element men den är fruktansvärt obehaglig ändå. Liv Tyler och random male actor spelar ett par som ska spendera en natt i en stuga, då de får nattligt besök av folk som är ute efter att skrämma och döda folk för att det är roligt. Största delen av filmen är väldigt, väldigt effektiv vad det gäller terrormomentet, då den är väldigt obehaglig och suggestiv. Slutet är lite abrupt och tråkigt, som vanligt. Liv Tyler gör en ruggigt stabil skådespelarinsats och räddar random male actors platta prestation. Visst finns det hål i historien och som vanligt fattar karaktärerna dåliga beslut mest hela tiden men det är definitivt en film som får dig att låsa dörren och önska att du kunde barrikadera dina fönster på ett effektivare sätt.

Primero, tenemos la presencia de Josh Brolin como el desfigurado anti-héroe ‘Jonah Hex‘ ; y por otro lado, tenemos al nutrido grupo de protagonistas de ‘The Losers‘.

‘The Losers‘ es la adaptación del cómic creado por Andy Diggle y dibujado por Jock para Vertigo, filial de DC Comics. ‘Los Perdedores’, que es como se le conoce en nuestro país, narra las aventuras de una unidad de Fuerzas Especiales de Estados Unidos formado por Clay, Chucho, Roque, Jemsen, Pooch y Cougar, quiénes se dedican a limpiar todos los trapos sucios del gobierno, hasta que un buen día un supuesto agente de la C.I.A. llamado Max les envía a una misión con la verdadera intención de intentar matarlos… Dados por muertos, estos deciden dejar pasar un tiempo para volver y vengarse de sus antiguos jefes. Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Idris Elba, Chris Evans, Columbus Short, Jason Patric, Zoe Saldana y nuestro Oscar Jaenada son los protagonistas de esta esperada producción de la Warner Bros. en rodaje pero que aun carece de fecha de estreno.

‘Jonah Hex‘ se estrenará el próximo 16 de Junio en Estados Unidos, siendo una de las grandes apuestas de la Warner de cara a la temporada estival. Esta adaptación del western creado por el escritor John Albano y el artista Tony DeZuniga creado en 1972, cuenta con un reparto encabezado por Josh Brolin como el personaje central, un desfigurado y amargado ex-oficial confederado que se gana la vida como cazarecompensas y sin miedo a nada ni nadie, y al que acompañan John Malkovich como el villano de la función y la sexy Megan Fox. El argumento de la cinta gira entorno a que, por un lado, Jonah Hex será contratado para dar caza a Quentin Turnbull, mientras que por el otro a él mismo le han puesto precio a su cabeza.

“Well its official: We have a great ‘Transformers 3′ story. The release date is now July 1st 2011. Not 2012,” wrote Michael Bay, the director of “Transformers” film franchise, in his official website on Thursday, October 1. Along with the announcement, the helmer confirmed that Megan Fox will return to reprise her role as Mikaela Banes, the girlfriend of Shia LaBeouf’s Sam Witwicky.

“P.S. Megan Fox, welcome back. I promise no alien robots will harm you in any way during the production of this motion picture,” Bay wrote. Suggesting Fox to contact her personal doctor before getting involved in the movie’s production, he stated, “Please consult your Physician when working under my direction.”

“Because some side effects can occur, such as mild dizziness, intense nausea, suicidal tendencies, depression, minor chest hair growth, random internal hemorrhaging and inability to sleep,” he continued. “As some directors may be hazardous to your health, please consult your Doctor to determine if this is right for you.”

“Transformers 3″ is a follow up to “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen“, which was released in U.S. theaters on June 24. The upcoming flick will be produced by Michael Bay and Steven Spielberg in association with DreamWorks SKG.

Striking a few sexy poses, Megan Fox showed off her hit body for a recent New York Times photo shoot. The “Transformers” hottie donned some sexy lingerie as photogs happily snapped up shots of the brunette beauty.  Meanwhile, Miss Fox is sick of being compared to Angelina Jolie – but Jolie is sick of her talking about it. A source of Us Weekly says that “Angie has been saying, ‘that woman acts like a fool. She needs to mind her Ps and Qs. She’s saying shocking things for attention, but those things will follow her around and be reprinted forever…I wish someone had pulled me aside when I was young and told me that. Now, I’ll forever be known as a lesbian or a self cutter, instead of what I worked so hard to become. You have to put a muzzle on it!”

However, Fox wasn’t trying to diss the star. Fox says she doesn’t “even consider [Jolie] human…She’s like a superhuman goddess.” She feels that comparisons however are “the bane of [her] existence.” Adding she says, “People compare me to Angelina Jolie, and she’s so serious and stoic. I’m the opposite. When I do interviews, I say things that I think are hysterical … I’m not a tigress like Angelina.”

The Transformer’s actress also says that she “created a character as an offering for the sacrifice” and that she is “not willing to give [her] true self up”: “It’s a testament to my real personality that I would go so far as to make up another personality to give to the world. The reality is, I’m hidden amongst all the insanity. Nobody can find me.”

Un punto a favor de Jonah Hex. En esta primera imagen de la producción han logrado alcanzar un factor muy favorable. Hex aterroriza a pesar de ser, supuestamente, el héroe de esta historia. Josh Brolin se mete en la piel de este confederado salido de las páginas de DC, que tendrá que seguir la pista de su mayor enemigo para lograr su propia libertad, aunque todo un ejército de pistoleros se interponga en el camino que le separa de su presa. John Malkovich, Megan Fox, Will Arnett y Michael Shannon forman alrededor de Brolin y bajo el mando de Jimmy Hayward. El polémico dúo Neveldine – Taylor firma el guión.

Megan Fox in a main role of an evil demon – when this happens, I obviously can’t think straight. I am one of the people, who adores Megan Fox, watches everything she is in, having secretly fantasies with her, hating the person Brian Austin Green for dating her (but I like him as an actor). I am one of the people who thinks she is living sex and far beyond. Am I a cliché now? Well, not when I can say that most of the projects with Megan Fox are mostly average. Transformers is still story trash (the second movie was boring), she wasn’t that funny in the 35th season opener of the NBC comedy Saturday Night Live, and even Jennifer’s Body is not really a milestone in the history of non-serious horror comedies. But Jennifer’s Body is one thing: a crappy and funny movie from the vomit scene until the end.
Cheerleader Jennifer (Megan Fox) and dorky geek Needy (Amanda Seyfried) are BFFs for years and inseparable, though they have nothing in common. After a fire in a local bar, where some high school students lost their lives, Jennifer disappears with a rock band (in which Adam Brody is the lead singer) and comes back to Needy with blood all over her body. This is the beginning of something really bloody and deathly: Jennifer mysteriously gains a lot of appetite for human blood in male high school students. As Needy finds out that Jennifer is possessed by a demon, she has to find a way to stop her friend’s bloodthirsty rampage before it reaches her own boyfriend Chip (Johnny Simmons).

One thing is for sure and everybody should know it before watching: Jennifer’s Body doesn’t take itself seriously and is just a vehicle for a hot cheerleader being possessed, killing boys, still looking sexy and having a light lesbian scene between Amanda Seyfried and Megan Fox, so men’s hearts are pounding until their chests explode. The movie isn’t good for anything else. It seems that 80 per cent of the movie goers had completely different expectations, especially with Diablo Cody being responsible for the screenplay, who won an Academy Award for Juno two years back. And the only result of having different expectations is that they find Jennifer’s Body bad. But it isn’t. Seriously. And I don’t say that, because I have *insert a word* fantasies about Megan Fox and Amanda Seyfried together on one bed.
The dialogs are funny as hell. Some examples? Jennifer about Needy’s breasts: “These are like smart bombs, you point them in the right direction and shit gets real.” Jennifer after being stabbed by Needy and bleeding out of the wound hole: “Got a tampon?” And, especially, after being stabbed by Needy: “Oww, my tit.” To which Needy responds: “No, your heart.” There are more example and I was laughing hilariously in most of the scenes – not only because of the funny dialogs, but some scenes were so ridiculous that it must have been on purpose to do them that shitty. But there lies the biggest problem of the movie: It doesn’t know if it wants to be a comical horror movie, a spoof of all the satanic rituals gone wrong, a funny movie with Megan Fox in it, or was it just a rip-off of Cruel Intentions (and I am only taking about the lesbian kiss scene)? Somehow the movie wants to be all of it, and this is what doesn’t let the movie work properly. At least the movie isn’t trying to be sophisticated or complex and is instead supposed to be a fun movie for the side; not important for the studio to make money with (the production only cost 16 million Dollar), not a breakthrough for all of the actors, and all in all a supposed-to-be fun project with no intentions to become a cult hit.

 The actors are clearly having fun in their roles. Megan Fox plays her sex card and shows once again her erotic side. She is the star of the movie, but her opposite part played by Amanda Seyfried holds her own. While Fox’s Jennifer doesn’t hide her sexual side and wants to have everything she can get (including the buddy-like Adam Brody, who might be a great guy to hang out with, when he is not about to sacrifice you for a demonic ritual), Seyfried’s Needy hides her beauty behind her gawky side and shows that she has
 nothing in common with Jennifer. Megan Fox took charge of her character and played with it, her acting is creative, and she even becomes a wreck when she has to be, and wanders completely outside of her sexy side. Jennifer’s friendship with Needy is completely believable, and every shitty small town somewhere in the middle of the United States’ nowhere. And Amanda Seyfried shows again that she is underrated in Hollywood and definitely can act. And Diablo Cody didn’t overwrite Needy’s goofy side, which lets everybody believe that she is not the one in high school, who doesn’t talk to people and vice versa, because she is not the ugly one in here. Johnny Simmons gives a sweet boyfriend for Seyfried, only his dying scene was way too wound up. I really had to laugh at its incredibly stupid scene, which looks like this wasn’t on purpose. This scene was the low-point of the movie.
Adam Brody had, like I said already, fun in his role. He stabs Jennifer like… a hundred times, with a smile on his face, and before the ritual he picks out the words for the ritual, which he found easily on the internet – hilarious.
Kyle Gallner makes a good stand as well, getting eaten by Jennifer, and shows like Seyfried, that he is worthy to look for in future projects.

The rest of the movie is typical basic: Jennifer’s Body is sexy, but doesn’t show much sex; Megan Fox eats people, but there isn’t much blood. Disgusting scenes are barely in the movie, at the utmost the vomiting scene might me the most disturbing scene (but this was too funny for me to be disturbing – I was mentally screaming WTF and had big eyes). Karyn Kusama’s movie is not too long, and not too short, and after her miserable Æon Flux she shows that she actually can direct a movie.
And when you don’t see the real purpose of the movie when you read the outlined plot (loser indie band tries to get fame and fortune by sacrificing a virgin to the devil, only their virgin isn’t one and transforms into a flesh eating demon) and you still expecting a clever (or trashy) horror movie, then you don’t know jack.
Jennifer’s Body is no masterpiece, but fun all the way. And I was entertained.

Brangelina declared on war. Until recently they were not the people whose pap pictures you could constantly see. They have been down and quiet, possibly, for the reason of being tired of those damn paparazzi and for the reason that they should be not a casual treat but a rare delicacy. Seems like times have changed and now we are constantly fed with their happy or serene (depending on the occasion) faces. Not that we were asking for it.
The recent headline is Jolie hating Obama’s certain policy decisions and Brad disagreeing. Oh please. AS IF she would know. What is her education again?
So what we are all witnessing right now is that the Brad Pitt and the Angelina Jolie are trying hard to come back to where they belong as new and fresh have taken their places. Megan Fox, I assume, was the first irritation and now the Robsten. Robsten is the new Brangelina. Brangelina is old and into politics/charity/blablaBORING, and Robsten is steaming hot, teenage mad SEX.

That's how most see Angie these days (but most would still do her. 'She's Angeluina Jolie, for Christ's sake!')

And that's how ppl see Brand Pitt these days. Well, maybe just a bit younger, with a goatee and healthier hair. But already too old for under 30.

And THAT’s how people see Robsten:

They are young, sexy, fun and anticipation.

Det smäller, exploderar och allt inramas av en ljudkuliss som bäst hör hemma i en stor biosalong med tillhörande toppklass på ljudutrustningen.
Kort sagt, regissören Michael Bay är tillbaka igen.

Det var väl minst sagt ingen större nyhet att Transformers från 2007 också skulle hamna i uppföljarträsket.
Jag tillhörde en av de många som från början var skeptisk när nyheten kablades ut att Bay höll på med en ny modern filmatisering av storyn runt de enorma robotorna som lever sitt eget liv i skepnader av allehanda fordon.
Men, trots att tonvikten låg på explosioner och snitsiga specialeffekter, kändes just Transformers fräsch och fartig och med lite distans till sig själv.

Kanske berodde det på Shia LaBeouf som på något sätt verkade passa alldeles perfekt i rollen som Sam, en lagom dos komik och rännande runt i olika actionstinna scener. Kanske berodde det (troligen) på de makalösa visuella effekterna som spelades upp framför oss, och att Bay på något lustigt sätt lyckades göra de väldiga robotarna väldigt mänskliga under all plåt och elektronik.
När nu storyn återvänder i uppföljaren är det dags för Sam att ta sig till college för att bli en bildad man, mamma Witwicky vill förstås att sonen ska stanna kvar hemma men pappa Witwicky (Kevin Dunn) har redan i huvudet gjort om sonens rum till en hemmabiogaf(!)
Gietvis dröjer det inte länge förrän sakernas tillstånd börjar ändras, och innan vi vet ordet av har Sam återigen dragits in i kampen mellan de goda Autobots och de onda Deceptions.
Den här gången handlar det om sökandet efter en energikälla som går tillbaka så långt som till 17.000 år f.kr.
Puh!

Plats på scen igen för allehanda volter i den fantastiska visuella världen som specialeffekter kan trolla fram.
Det synnerligen konstruerade och ansträngda manuset tar våra hjältar från den ena hållpunkten till den andra, där diverse effekter och händelser sätter dem på hårda prov.
Megan Fox återvänder givetvis som Sams flickvän Mikaela och får i den här filmen anledning att för ett ögonblick tvivla på hans kärlek, innan sanningen givetvis uppdagas och leder till att hon står bakom sin man till hundra procent.

Michael Bay är en man som leverar det han sagt.
Ge honom ett antal miljoner dollar och han förvaltar dem på bästa sätt.
Kungen av popcorn-filmer sparar inte på krutet här och verkar helt enkelt ha bestämt sig för att toppa föregångaren vad gäller effekter per filmruta.
Det blir dock också filmens stora minus. Där föregångaren på många ställen kändes väldigt lekfull och angenämt rolig, blir den här filmen rätt ansträngd i sin iver att framkalla samma känsla.
Det går liksom inte. Nyhetens behag är ju borta. Istället gäller det att dölja bristerna i manuset med så mycket effekter och visuella konster som möjligt.

Skådespelarna gör precis vad de ska och trots ytligheten så går det inte helt att bortse från att Shia LaBeouf är en skådis som växer för varje år som går. Han tillhör helt klart den nya pigga generationen som kommer att rädda Hollywood när Stallone, Ford, Willis och de andra går i pension. Megan Fox gör exakt det hon är inhyrd för, att se toksnygg ut och framhäva sin kropp i alla möjliga vinklar.
I persongalleriet bakom de unga är det extra kul att John Turturro är tillbaka som den helt galne men sköne agenten Seymor Simmons. Turturro spelar över så det står härliga till, men det gör inget i en film av den här kalibern.
Ett antal av den förra filmens figurer flimrar förbi här också, men finns egentligen bara med för formalitetens skull.
Och de riktiga huvudpersonerna då?
Robotarna.
Jo då, de verkar piggare än någonsin. Nästan alla från förra filmen återvänder, och vi introduceras för ett par nya modeller som ställer till allsköns bravader. Optimus Prime leder fortfarande de goda maskinerna och gamle ärkefienden Megatron dyker naturligtvis också upp igen (som om någon hade trott något annat).

Trots filmens ihålighet går det inte att komma ifrån att det är sagolik snyggt gjort. Detaljrikedomen i robotarnas framfart är total. Förutom mästarklassen på effekterna så bjussar Bay i vanlig ordning på ytterst snygga bilder fotade i motljus med en fantastisk färgsammansättning.
Det är godis för ögat och gör sig mer än väl i denna svulstiga produktion.
Bay lovar sina producenter valuta för de investerade pengarna och det finns inget att klaga på vad gäller infriandet av det löftet.
Transformers 2: Revenge of the fallen är snygg yta packad med effekter och lättköpt humor.

Och grejen är att det funkar alldeles utmärkt om man bara vet vad det är man ger sig in i att titta på.

Såg på IGN.com att det går rykten om att Megan Fox karaktär i Transformers filmerna kanske kommer att bli mos i den kommande tredje filmen. Michael Bay dementerar alltihopa men jag hoppas verkligen att det är sant. Revenge of the Fallen hade en hel crapload av problem som gjorde den till en ganska dålig film och Megan Fox var helt klart ett av dem. Förutom att hon har stelopererat hela fejset så såg hon oerhört blasé ut hela filmen igenom. Man blir förvånad de gånger man faktiskt ser de känslor hon uttrycker i sina repliker. Hon känns kort sagt som den mest mekansika och minst levande karaktären, och i en film som handlar helt om gigantiska robotar så är det en sjuhelvetes bedrift.

Det blev en massa stohej om Megan Fox efter första robotrullen men jag fattar inte varför. Hon hade en snygg kropp som hon nu förstört genom att operera upp sig till en livlös påse ben. Hon ser enbart trött/sur/bajsnödig ut (med de nya läpparna ser hon även ut som om hon får en stroke ibland).

Jag är otroligt less på henne och tröstar mig med att hon är “it-girl” just nu. Om hon bara kan låta bli att få ett Britney-breakdown när hon äntligen faller ur pressvargarnas gunst så kommer jag nog slippa se henne efter det.

“You’re never done,” said Cyndi Stivers, managing editor of EW.com about career trajectories and the importance of staying current.   “Get comfortable with that idea and keep learning. The stuff that comes easily to you may actually be a rare and marketable skill.” Next to her, Jess Cagle, managing editor of Entertainment Weekly (all Time Inc. top editors have this title instead of Editor-in-Chief), nodded in agreement. Both editors had agreed to sit down with NYU’s Master of Science in Publishing students to talk about careers, publishing, and the challenges of entertainment journalism.

Stivers certainly knows what she’s talking about: she began her career during the “hot type” (also known as mechanical typesetting) printing era,  taught her bosses to use computers, and stood at the forefront of the transition to desktop publishing. After launching Time Out New York, she moved to Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia and helped found Martha’s 24-hour Sirius satellite radio channel. Now, as top web editor of one of the most popular entertainment reporting brands in the business, Stivers is enmeshed in publishing’s current shift to digital media. In other words, she’s seen the industry in transition and had an active role in those changes. “That’s why I’m not freaked out,” she said. Indeed, the current moment is an exciting one for Stivers, Cagle, and the brand they manage.

For Cagle, who has  been a writer, editor, and reporter both in print and on television, “There’s nothing more gratifying than working on a magazine—that tactile thing that you hold. It was always my first love,” he says. His writing start came during his college stint as an intern and fact checker for People. His secret to success? Barging endlessly into the managing editor’s office and asking to write—until he was finally assigned a music review of a group called Run DMC. Cagle’s take on the emerging rap scene impressed his editors, and he eventually landed key writing, reporting, and editing gigs at People, Entertainment Weekly, and Time.

These days, along with Stivers, Cagle presides over a brand that has kept the pulse of the entertainment industry since the magazine’s launch in 1990, when Time Inc. spun off the popular review section of People into a full-fledged magazine of its own. With just over 12 million readers per month (total paid and verified circulation stands at 1,796,560; the pass along rate is more than six readers per copy; and 60% of readers are female), the magazine today boasts unparalleled access to celebrities. The staff of 80 people includes bureaus in both New York and Los Angeles. Entertainment Weekly does not maintain separate editorial staffs for online and print editions, though the debate over which content shall appear online is an ongoing one. Until recently, the website contained everything the print edition did “day and date,” but now the brand caters to its different audiences more precisely. (Indeed, according to Stivers, there is only an 11% overlap between print readers and those who read the site religiously.)

As savvy editors, Stivers and Cagle maximize every opportunity: with a conference room full of opinionated, eager publishing students, naturally the editors decided to turn the tables and conduct an informal mini focus group. “Tell us what covers you like best and worst,” they said, gesturing at the wall of Entertainment Weekly covers.  Perceptive publishing students quickly came to a pretty clear majority: strong single images (David Letterman with his pants dangling around his knees and Robert Downey, Jr. in costume as Sherlock Holmes or Ironman) won out over cluttered preview covers. Excessive digitization (such as the cover of a manipulated-looking Megan Fox) turned students off; iconic, natural closeups like the Patrick Swayze cover intrigued them.

After Cagle and Stivers headed off to their afternoon meetings, editorial assistant Archana Ram gave students a tour of the offices. Books, albums and CDs of films and TV shows were everywhere, waiting to be reviewed.  Archana showed students one staple of a magazine office that never seems to disappear: the mock-up wall. Editors gather each day for “wall meetings,” a tradition of analyzing and perfecting the order and placement of stories and ads. The wall—a space that existed for editors long before Entertainment Weekly’s launch—was our reminder that tactile, print visuals are still a key element of the media world.

Stivers and Cagle have clearly done a great job of refining entertainment journalism and creating a promising synergy between the magazine and website. For all those who disparage the current fate of the magazine world, Stivers has this strong and clear message: “It is still a very vibrant and exciting space to work in.”

Lynn Hirschberg needs to upload more screen tests. The one or two she does every now and then isn’t enough to satisfy my hunger for more stylistic interviews. Whatever it’s just an interview right? I suppose you’re right, but what sets these apart for me is the black and white close-ups with only their responses cut together.

To be honest with you, I’m not a huge fan of Megan Fox. I’m not involved in the Fox hotness craze. I enjoy the likes of Marion Cotillard, Melanie Laurent, Cintia Dicker or better yet, Sonya Sydoryshyn more than Megan Fox. However, I’ve got to admit that she’s pretty enjoyable to watch when she’s not filmed as a super sex vixen ready to sizzle your heart with her pouty lips. My favourite screen tests are still Jospeh Gordon-Levitt, Natalie Portman, Marion Cotillard, and (surprise) Tyra Banks. The designer series featuring Alber Elbaz, Stefano Pilati, and Takashi Murakami are also pretty interesting. If you want to see the entire collection, you can find it here.
