It turns out Andy Warhol was just a few decades early when he said everyone would be famous for 15 minutes. In this era of youtube and Twitter, we are now witnessing that of which he prophesied… sort of. More precisely, we are witnessing desperate souls trying ever so hard to achieve that elusive “15 minutes” through a combination of social networking sites, Blackberries, and shameless audacity.

Meghan McCain takes a page from the Paris Hilton play book.

Paris Hilton, of course, is the poster child for being famous for no other reason than having a famous name and oodles and oodles of mailbox money. But even with those huge advantages in her quill, Paris Hilton needed a little extra “oomph” to catapult herself from a relatively obscure hotel heiress to the current reigning Paparazzi Diva: she needed a scandal. So like any enterprising young woman with ambition and some appreciable physical assets, she made a sex tape that just happened to get “leaked” onto the internet. A few feigned moments of embarrassment and a couple of lawsuit threats later, and viola!…”fifteen minutes” that has waaaay out-lived its shelf life.

Which brings me to Meghan McCain. Young women like Meghan McCain and Miley Cyrus owe Paris Hilton a debt of gratitude. Hilton, after all, pioneered the now popular method of maximizing internet exposure for fame and notoriety. Up until recently, Meghan had primarily utilized her blog to achieve modest status as a young Republican pundit. For example, in August of 2008, after her father and presidential candidate, John McCain, had just named Sarah Palin as his running mate, she posted this:

“Yesterday was incredible. Again I got to witness history in the making, from a front row seat. Starting out the day with Dad’s choice of Governor Sarah Palin as his nominee for Vice President is a moment on stage I will never forget. She and her family are so down to earth and so much fun. I could not be any luckier to have these wonderful people join us on the road.”

But while she may have gushed over witnessing this historic moment and her admiration for the Palin family in the heat of the moment, the ordinarily critical and outspoken Meghan McCain has since been mostly silent about Palin, instead taking aim at Bush-era Republicans like Karl Rove. Shortly after joining Twitter, she posted this:

(Twitter’s) allowed me to share the less serious aspects and humorously uncensored moments of my life. But there’s a downside: I am now being followed by Karl Rove, and my local sheriff, and God knows how many other political pundits. We need to take Twitter back from the creepy people.”

That little “tweet” led to quite a bit of media attention and soon Meghan McCain had developed a feisty reputation as a repudiator of many in her own political party. Now having Twitter in her arsenal, and a willingness to publicly disparage a much-maligned Republican like Karl Rove, Meghan got a new taste for just how useful the internet can be in garnering widespread web cred. Soon she was dusting it up with conservative darlings like Michelle Malkin and Ann Coulter, garnering even more favor with the mainstream press.

But alas, “fame is a fickle food,” and rather than finding herself as a political commentator to be taken seriously, Meghan seemed to be considered more of a “fly in the ointment,” useful to the media only on slow news days when she had something provocative to say about a fellow Republican. She was that dateless girl at the prom, eagerly awaiting the moment when someone… anyone… might extend a hand and softly say, “Want to dance?” But as song after song passed, and no such invitation materialized, what was a self-respecting, ambitious young lady to do, especially an aspiring journalist and daughter of a former presidential candidate… a young woman who wanted to be more than just an agent provocateur in political circles? Why, she posted a sexy picture of herself on the internet, of course!

Meghan boasts over 60,000 followers on Twitter so naturally, given the odds, there would be a few who would respond negatively to her, uh, bold photo… and many did. Some, for instance, called her a “slut,” to which she feigned great indignation and posted this:

“When I am alone in my apartment, I wear tank tops and sweat pants, I had no idea this makes me a ’slut’, can’t even tell you how hurt I am. This is why I have been considering deleting my Twitter account, what once was fun now just seems like a vessel for harassment.”

She then later posted this about-face:

“I do want to apologize to anyone that was offended by my Twitpic. I have clearly made a huge mistake and am sorry 2 (sic) those that are offended.”

Uh, yeah.

Personally, I find it not so much ironic as telling that she would pose in said picture, holding up an Andy Warhol book (of all things). Is this Meghan’s not-so-subtle way of telegraphing to us the exact purpose of posting the picture? Only time will tell.

I feel sorry for the trusting population of the Republican party. These people are being used by their leaders. People of the extreme right, such as Palin,  use emotion without fact to increase the  anger of their followers. Turn on the news at any Palin gathering or another similar extremist and you see an angry mob of people. Listen to their responses to the questions and you will hear ill-informed opinions that sound strangely like what the extremist just said in their rallying speech.

A Pure Party

The extremists say they want to meet in the middle. They say that the Democrats just won’t work with them yet they want to purify their party by removing the moderates. Palin and other Palinites want the moderates to go away.  The moderates are just too liberal for a pure Republican party according to the right extremists.  The truth is finally starting to crystallize…Palin is trying to form some sort of Palinite cult!  Fine with me and the rest of us Democrats, we will happily take your moderates. Go ahead and weaken your party even further by asking the people who actually think to leave!

Seriously, the extreme views representing the current face of the Republican party is scary. No longer does it seem that the persona of the Republican party is a party of people made up of intelligent, however, somewhat greedy Alex P. Keaton types but the persona is quickly changing and dividing. There is a sharp line being drawn and their land is separating under their feet. Moderate Republicans like Meghan McCain have been predicting a weakening of the party by not listening to one another and having a “my way or no way” mindset. Those extremists like Ann Coulter told her to shut up and get out.

The infamous extremists are scary enough but what is even scarier is the every day citizen that believes this cult like mindset. With the schism, a new Republican party is taking center stage. Characteristics that define this party are greed, hypocrisy, close-mindedness, and over the top evangelicals. Ones who want to control for the sake of control and say they want middle ground but in reality they want their ground. To do this, they say purify their party. Democrats say go ahead and purify – you will,  in your desire for ultimate control, weaken your party even further.

They Lie

These same people say they don’t want big government. They also say they are the better fiscal managers. Hmmmm…anyone recognize the hypocrisy and disillusionment in those statements? Big government for these people is what pays their nice salaries and provides them insurance. Big government is what strokes their over-inflated egos and without their so-called big government they would be what? Yep, nonexistent. They lie. They tell the easily convinced they don’t want big government but I beg of you to look at their motives. They don’t care about you – they care about their narcissistic missions to be in control. They don’t even care about people in their own party that don’t align with their oppressive, close-minded views.

The ultimate example of hypocrisy is their public views of fiscal management. Funny, how a bridge to nowhere makes good fiscal sense but health care reform is poor fiscal management. I tried to see the good in the other party, I really do.  And I do see the good in some individuals of the opposing party but for the most part the face of Republican party right now looks like an evil cartoon. If I were a cartoonist, I would draw Palin with her other like-minded Republicans behind close doors laughing at the stupidity of their easily convinced followers while they roll  in their money they got from you.

The October 2009 Comment of the Month is a tie between last month’s winner, Doug1, who argues against date rape:

The whole effort to make intoxication sex rape at the girls option after the fact is an abomination and must be thoroughly and vehemently rejected by men.

The large majority of causal sex, particularly first time casual sex between a pair, involves some degree of drinking on both parties part. That’s our social custom among most groups in this country and has been for a very long time. If a girl’s judgment is loosened up when she drinks in ways she may regret later, then it’s her responsibility to not drink so much, or not drink at all, or not do so and then flirt re: having having sex with a new partner. If all other areas drinking does not absolve the drinking person of responsibility for their actions when they’ve been drinking. It should even less so in this one.

The whole date rape campaign of campus and radical feminists is at BEST a concerted campaign to make all but the most gentlemanly conduct on the part of men that involves sexual contact (even though not rejected), a VERY VERY SERIOUS CRIME. I.e. rape. That’s ridiculous.

At the same time a great many women, way over half and probably lots many more than that have rape fantasies. Now they don’t have fantasies about some unattractive schmuck raping them, it’s true. It’s also not true, despite what feminists say, that women never actually want to act out any of those fantasies. Plenty of women do. I know this first hand. plenty have wanted to with me.

In the case of date rape, the man is by definition almost, or certainly a guy can and should be forgiven for assuming so until there’s good evidence to the contrary that the girl did find at least tentatively attractive. She went on some kind of date, or engaged in flirting behavior, with him. No that doesn’t entitle him to then pull a knife and despite her screams rape her. Of course not. But these circumstances do mean that if a woman starts down the road towards indicating an interest in having sex with her date, the BURDEN SHIFTS TO HER TO MAKE IT VERY CLEAR THAT SHE DOESN’T WANT FULL ON SEX if she doesn’t..

It’s not even as clear as a mere no. Because against despite feminist lying, and lesbian feminist lying is what it usually is, women DO often mean yes when they say no, or really more maybe when they say no, maybe, if you can make me feel it enough that my hindbrain passion overcomes my forebrain restraint and go slower, cause that kind of overwhelming is like just one of the hottest sexual feelings a girl can have, and is in fact at the core of a lot of rape fantasies or “was that rape” fantasies. Just last night I had to resort to a bit of Asshole Game w/my Woman, Brown Sugah. After giving me a day’s worth of snarky text messages and playing “hide and seek makeout”, I abruptly ended the session and turned to watch the tv. In Game parlance, this is known as a “Freeze Out”, and trust me when I tell ya fellas, IT WORKS.

Brown Sugah sat there, befuddled for a few minutes, then slowly rose up from the bed and walked aimlessly around the house. Then, as she washed dishes, she started crying.

I wasn’t moved in the slightest. I let her stew in her shit for an hour, then went back to Good Cop and consoled her. The resultant hummer rivaled Vanessa Del Rio’s.

Second story…a true one:

My grandfather was a Good Man in every sense of the word; a true Virgo Gentleman. But he happened to be married to a firecracker of a lady in my grandmother, and I could only imagine what she was like when they were youner and courting. He should have gotten an award just for simply marrying her in the first place, and I say that out of sheer love for both of em, lol.

Anyway, one day while at the dinner table, my grandmother was really on the rag and on a tear, bithing up a storm. She had been at it nonstop for at least a half and hour. When it got to the 45 minute mark, my grandfather, a Man I’d known all my life, who didn’t believe in whipping his own kids (RARE in the Black community let me tell you, especially bck in the 50s-60s) and was always, always, always a most concilliatory guy-turned into the Incredible Hulk.

Out of nowhere, he smashed his fist on the glass dinner table and bellowed “ENOUGH!!!” the table? Toast. Had a big assed crack that ran the full length of it. My grandmother? That was the first and only time I saw a Black Woman turn as white as a sheet. Her haughty, snarky tone was completely gone, replaced w/a barely audible mousy whisper, begging my grandfather to calm down and that she was sorry. I could see the veins in my grandfather’s neck bulging. That shit scared me.

We ate in silence, and directly afterward, my grandad got up from the table and went upstairs, followed closely behind by my grandmother.

I don’t know if old folks screw or not, and I certainly wasn’t trying to find out if my grandparents did, but I do know this: had they been my age at the time, and knowing what I do today about Human Nature, they’d be humping like rabbits.

My point? That you simply cannot be too nice w/Women. They can and will see it as a fundamental weakness, even though, in a modern and advanced world, such reasoning, if one can call it that, makes about as much sense as their liking for exclusively tall guys. Nevertheless, its TRUE. And the Freeway of Love is littered with the corpses of Nice Guys who didn’t know the rules of the road.

I am philosophically opposed to Asshole Game; at heart, I’m a chip off the ole block that was my grandfather. But I see and realize a simple, yet profound truth: Nice Guy=Supplication=Beta Male=Five Fingers Of Death. The ONLY way you can be a nice guy and get away with it, is to, every once in awhile, let your Woman know that you can and will go Rambo on her or anyone else who fucks with you. And when it comes to the sexual marketplace, Women set the price-Men, mostof them anyway, have really only one of two options: “buy” at the going rate, or, refuse to buy. Like most consumers, most Men would rather pay a little more than go without.

Natural Alphas and Men w/Game, though, have a third option-they can haggle over the price that Women set. In fact, that’s how I see Game-the extent to which you, as a Man, can negotiate for a better deal with the seller. Until very recently in the sexual marketplace history, it was a Seller’s Market. Noawadays, with the advent of Game, things done changed-it’s a Buyer’s Market for those who are saavy enough.

People dislike game for different reasons. Just calling them haters doesn’t tell us much about their motivations or what arguments they are using.

There seem to me three varieties of haters:

1. Pedastalizers – Don’t like their view of women as morally superior beings disturbed. Often religious and/or socially conservative.

2. Equalists – Don’t like that women are attracted to men who are dominant over them. Often liberal whether right liberal (libertarian or neoconservative) or left liberal.

3. Hyper-Moralists – Don’t like the fact that the main discoverers and theorists of game are almost all libertines and/or nihlists. They also don’t like that game contains techniques for getting women to have premarital/extramarital sex, and that it seems too consciously manipulative.

Larry Auster and Conor F. are a mix of pedastalizer and hyper-moralist.

Will Wilkinson is an equalist.

Todd White, Anakin Niceguy and his commenter Justin are hyper-moralists.

I would also point out that Save Western Civ guys aren’t identical with Social Conservatives who aren’t identlical with haters. Lots of Save Western Civ guys do accept game.

Now I understand why Miley Cyrus deactivated her Twitter. Two weeks ago [Ed. Note-- a million billion years in Internet Time, we know, we're sorry], on the evening of October 14, “hip Republican” Meghan McCain Tweeted about her “spontaneous night in” with her “Andy Warhol biography.” For those of us who can’t imagine what a book looks like, Meghan was kind enough to post a picture, sporting a devilish grin and bedroom eyes. At the heart of the composition, however, were her humongous breasts.

Of course, there was a tremendous and instantaneous internet uproar over the picture, followed immediately by an outpouring of support from her followers. Meghan has since apologized (to whom, exactly?), but only after angrily threatening to quit Twitter (gasp!). To all you internet people (“people” in this context means “shrieking idiot monsters”) who called her a slut—that’s a little harsh [Ed. Note-- and stupid]. The totality of a person’s character can’t be judged by a single action, duh. Better to step back and try to look at the situation from different perspectives.

That said, in hindsight we must ask why she even posted the picture in the first place. Did she really think that everyone would ignore her boobs and focus on the book?  Please. It’s impossible to ignore those things.

There is widespread suspicion that the whole thing was a publicity stunt, much like the balloon boy debacle (though she recently tweeted “OK, at least I didn’t dupe the media into thinking I flew away in a homemade balloon “). McCain’s blog for the Daily Beast has certainly gotten some heat from this “controversy.” Whatever her reasons may have been, Meghan will probably think before she tweets in the future—or just wear a turtleneck.

I still can’t believe they dumped Ash for cat food maker.  I mean, obviously they kept Robin in because she breeds drama and she’s the only one giving it to them.  So, she’ll stick around until the shows credibility is completely used up, which already might have happened in everyones eyes but the producers.

While reading blogs about Meghan McCain’s sexy twitter photo, I’ve found a lot of people who have judged her harshly and a number of people, feminists included, who are basically saying you have every right to show off your body and no one should judge you.  But, considering the reality of life, the natural consequences of one’s actions, and the goal of sexual equality, is there a better way for us to look at this?  From my life experiences, I’ve frequently heard sexual remarks and harsh judgements in response to photos of this type.  Best case scenario people will simply say she looks good, I wish I looked like that, or I’d like to have her.  Showing a lot of cleavage or skin does attract a lot of attention and comments, but generally does not lead to respect and often the comments are offensive.  Just think of the reaction it gets when a man who’s otherwise trying to be taken seriously posts a picture of himself with an obvious erection visible through his shorts.  Wait a minute, that never happens, but I would imagine if it did, he’d be opening up the door to some disrespectful comments and criticism too.

It’s not right to call Meghan a slut, and I would sure hope that soon she’ll recover to her pre-sexy photo status, but women, we’re not going to be viewed as equals if we continue to sexualize ourselves to the extent females now do.  Why do so many women crave sexual attention from people they don’t know anyway?  You can be beautiful and enjoy your sexuality, without putting yourself on display in this manner.   If you’re a heterosexual women, take some of the pressure and focus of yourself and try enjoying the view of attractive men for a change.  There’s plenty of hot men out there and you just might like it.
