TV Pitches: The Spice Girls

Their musical reunion at the Olympics was only temporary, every Spice Girl in search of an interview is telling us. So where next for the peppery pentahedron? Here are some ideas…

WANNABE

The concept: Ambition-themed gameshow in which the Girls audition potential replacements from a crowd of needy schoolchildren

Emma: And now it’s Kayleigh from Swindon’s turn! Kayleigh, which Spice Girl do you… “wannabe”?

Small child: I wannabe Geri!

Geri: Kayleigh, you’re aware that to become the perfect simulacrum, your established interiority is forfeit? And that you may pass from physical existence into a theoretical state of hyperreality?

Small child: I like the dress with the flag on it! Girl Power!

2 BECOME 1

The concept: Mel B oversees proceedings as the remaining girls pair up – quite literally! – to live as Siamese twins for a week. In the grand finale the winning pair undergo a full and irreversible surgical joining procedure.

Mel B: (bursting into room in which Emma and Victoria are sat glumly in a giant three-legged jumpsuit) Hi girls! How are you getting on?

Emma: (wriggling) I’m worried about what’ll happen if we win the challenge and have to live like this permanently.

Victoria: David says he’s alright with it. And I could get a new fashion line out of it.

Emma: (viciously) Stop fooling yourself Victoria!

Mel B: Chin up, ladies! It’s nearly time for the breakdancing challenge!

WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE

The concept: Undeterred that a programme of the same name already exists, the Girls present a fun exploration into the concepts of identity and consciousness.

Mel C: So you see Mel, the self is a narrative we create for ourselves, but an intangible one. Look at this hula hoop! Its centre of gravity is a point in the middle of thin air!

Mel B: Are we going to do hula hooping now?

Mel C: Well YOU’RE not, Mel! Being sporty is MY narrative!

Mel B: You’re really starting to episteme off.

VIVA FOREVER

The concept: Each Spice Girl tries out a different method of attaining immortality. Hosted by Esther Rantzen.

Esther: Well I think we can all agree Geri’s quietened down A LOT since we put her into cryogenic suspension. We’ll be checking back in ten years to see how she’s getting on.

Emma: How much more of this disgusting black fungus water do I have to drink, Esther? It tastes like the bottom of a carpet. And I’ve got terrible shits.

Esther: It’s Ling-Zhi, the Chinese mushroom of immortality, Emma – keep going and don’t be a baby! Victoria, how are you getting on uploading your intelligence onto that floppy disk?

Victoria: I’ve written my name on the label already!

HOLLER

The concept: The Spice Girls call for help repeatedly from the centre of an existential void. But no-one ever comes.

From professional highs to crushing personal lows, Melanie C opens up about her toughest year yet

Whichever way you look at it, 2012 has been a mixed bag for Melanie Chisholm. Everything was looking rosy when she was catapulted back into the limelight at the much-hyped launch of Viva Forever – a musical based on Spice Girls hits. It was the first time Mel had been pictured with Victoria, Geri, Emma and Mel B for more than four years, and it wasn’t just the Fabulous office who gushed about how fresh-faced and fit Mel, 38, looked.

Then Andrew Lloyd Webber gave her a starring role in his new stage show Jesus Christ Superstar, and appointed her a judge on ITV1 show Superstar. And who could forget the Spices’ show-stopping turn at the Olympics closing ceremony?

But in the middle of this high-octane excitement came the shock announcement last month that Melanie’s relationship with Thomas Starr, her partner of 10 years and father of her three-and-a-half-year-old daughter Scarlet, had collapsed.

Away from showbiz

Shock, because despite never marrying, Melanie and Thomas, 45, had always seemed the most solid and content of couples, managing to live a normal family life away from the showbiz world.

She has, so far, given no explanation for the split. Today will be the first time she’ll be asked about it and, understandably, it’s not a subject she finds easy to discuss.

When asked how life has changed, she lets the question hang in the air and looks incredibly sad. Clearing her throat and composing herself, she says: “I don’t know… I’m just… I’m not comfortable talking about it.”

When asked how things will work on a practical level now she’s a “single mum”, her body language betrays her. Sitting crossed legged, she instinctively kicks her foot out, as if trying to volley the question away.

“Erm, my life has become more complicated, definitely,” she says, carefully. “Nothing has changed really…”

The pain is clearly still raw, but Melanie has found one coping strategy.

“Being busy has been helpful,” she says. “I think in many ways I’m a workaholic. Even though we all complain when we’re busy, I’m probably at my happiest when I am.”

It’s still too soon to even think about meeting someone else, but Melanie realises the chances of having more children are now slim.

She looks out the kitchen window of the large north London house we’ve hired for the shoot. Her voice drops.

“I always hoped there would be more children in my life, but maybe that won’t happen now… I don’t know.

“Dating is the bottom of my priorities at the moment, it really is. Scarlet and me are the priorities.”

With every word about the fallout from the break-up, the atmosphere becomes more clenched – as if Melanie will clam up and stop the interview at any second.

This is a new side to her; or at least not one we’ve seen before. She’s always been the reasonable one, the down-to-earth Scouser. Strong and spirited, yet unstarry as we saw on Superstar. And for most of the day, she is more than reasonable.

After enduring four hours having her picture taken in the baking hot sun without a single complaint, we decide the artist formerly known as Sporty should really be renamed Good Sport Spice. But the good humour doesn’t last.

When we stop shooting to ask her a few fun, quick-fire questions for our behind-the-scenes video, the mood changes. She loses patience. She’s fine with a few of them: What’s her most treasured possession? Her dream dinner guests? But as they get a little more personal: What’s her biggest regret? The best kiss of her life? The closest she’s come to death? The complaints begin.

“As if I’m going to fr**ging say… it’s stupid… I’m having flashbacks to doing Smash Hits… I’m not going to say… oh, sod off.”

And so we’re forced to give up, prompting Melanie to blurt out: “I’ve been asked each of those questions 50,000 times. You know when you’re 38 and you’re a mum and you find yourself being asked these silly questions, and you think: ‘Is this what my life has come to?’”

Oh dear. This is awkward.

To her credit, she apologises sincerely later in such a heartfelt way that she is instantly forgiven.

Mother’s pride

She brightens up the moment we change the subject. As we talk about Scarlet, Melanie is unable to contain her pride.

“She’s very headstrong, very affectionate and caring. She has me laughing constantly. She’s at that wonderful age when they come out with the most ridiculous things.

“Scarlet, Bluebell and Beau get on very well,” she says, referring to Geri Halliwell’s six year old and Emma Bunton’s five year old.

“There’s such an age range now, the older ones look after the little ones, so we can just drink wine!”

The Spice Girls’ recent performance on top of five black cabs at the Olympics closing ceremony was the first time they’d all shared the stage since the their reunion tour in 2007.

They had a blast, says Melanie. But – sob! – it’s unlikely we’ll see them all together again.

She says: “I’m really happy us girls got to a place where we can come together and perform – maybe for the last time. The Olympics could have been the last time.”

The rehearsals were “the most fun” they’ve had. Certainly more so than the reunion tour anyway, when there were rumours of backstage tensions.

“We’ve grown up a little bit more since then and there’s less pressure on us,” says Melanie.

But the launch of Viva Forever in June made sure those rumours resurfaced. Particularly because of the apparent frostiness between an unsmiling Victoria Beckham and bolshie Mel B.

“We hadn’t all been together since we finished the tour,” says Melanie. “It was weird being together. We’d seen each other, but in splinter groups. I’ll often see Emma and Geri as they live close to me, and we’ll see Victoria and Melanie when they come to London.”

Of all the girls, Melanie talks about Victoria the least – aware, probably, that anything she does say could become a headline. She deftly bats away any talk of a rift between Posh and Scary, insisting they get on “absolutely fine”.

“To be honest, there’s been lots of tension between different people. There’s been a lot written about Melanie and Victoria’s relationship. We’ve all had certain issues with… [pause] different members of the group at different times. We can be really blunt with each other and sometimes that can be upsetting. We have had issues, but we get over them.”

The reports always describe simmering hostility, but rows did get out of control before the band split, according to Mel.

“Me and Melanie had a fight once,” she says.

What? A physical fight?

“Yeah, we were too drunk. We got a bit pushy, shovey and Geri stepped in the middle to break it up and ended up getting hit in the face. Then Melanie went off to be sick and because she’d been drinking port she accused me of making her bleed!”

Despite the punch-ups and the rows, the girls are still a unit, although some are closer than others.

“Myself and Emma were closest, and that’s continued,” Melanie says. “I don’t think I’d want all the girls living round the corner, to be fair.”

But performing together again has brought back all the good memories they shared. “We get nostalgic. The times we talk about are being backstage, being in our hotel rooms and how much fun we had,” says Melanie.

“When you’re in it the first time round you’re so caught up in the whole thing it’s hard to appreciate it. I did struggle in those days; I’m happier now. So when we’ve had opportunities to perform now we just think: ‘Let’s enjoy every single moment.’”

Older and wiser

Melanie is in a much happier place now. During the early ’90s she suffered from clinical depression, an eating disorder and, she later admitted, an “unhealthy relationship with exercise”. Antidepressants and therapy got her through it.

“It was really hard, I really didn’t want the attention from the press because I just needed to go away and get better.

“I’m happy now working as a solo artist. And I’m so lucky to have such a great relationship with the girls again, because when we stopped working together I really distanced myself for a few years, which I needed to do.”

Motherhood too has had a positive impact.

“It’s made me more confident. We all have our insecurities and having someone more important to think about is very liberating. It’s helped me not care so much about what people think. It’s helped me be more courageous. I’ve done things I was frightened to do before, like working in theatre.”

Three years ago, Melanie played Mrs Johnstone in the musical Blood Brothers, which along with Superstar has led to her recording Stages, a new album of songs from musicals.

She says it’s a relief to be free from the pressures of the pop charts, despite the solo success she enjoyed with her Northern Star and Reason albums in the immediate aftermath of the Spice Girls.

“Going to work in the West End brought back so many memories of being at performing arts college and made me think: ‘Gosh I’ve left a real passion behind. Let’s get some of those songs together and make an album.’

“The pop world is very fickle. You can be a great artist, but it doesn’t mean you’re going to be successful.”

Rehearsals for the Jesus Christ Superstar tour are under way and Melanie doesn’t seem fazed by playing Mary Magdalene, who was both a saint and a prostitute.

“I think we can all identify with that!” she says, laughing.

“Nobody’s perfect. We try to be good people but life is tough, we make mistakes.”

No nips and tucks

Just like the Spice Girls’ recent photo call for Viva Forever, Melanie’s beauty shines through on our shoot.

Her skin is almost flawless – a good five or 10 years younger than her years, but not in a Botoxed or nipped/tucked way. It’s more the look of someone who has taken immense care of themselves, staying out of the sun, eating healthily, not smoking and not staying up all night.

There is the odd, very fine line, but her features suit her now more than they ever did. She’s grown into herself.

Her famously fit body doesn’t seem to have aged at all. Her upper arms are taut, her stomach flat and legs strong. Her body is certainly not down to luck.

“I train three-to-five times a week. It might be 20 minutes on a bike, a 20-minute run or 90 minutes sweating it out in the gym.”

She also eats incredibly healthily and is currently in the middle of a four-day raw food “cleanse”.

The morning of our photo shoot Melanie has only a “green juice”: kale, cucumber and lime blitzed together. A typical day is a smoothie, protein shake or scrambled eggs with oatcakes for breakfast, grilled fish or chicken with quinoa for lunch and some form of protein with vegetables for dinner. “I do occasionally binge drink, though – usually it involves Emma Bunton!”

Thankfully, the problems with food and exercise that plagued Melanie 10 years ago are now under control.

“If you’ve had issues like that in the past you’re paranoid, you think: ‘Am I doing too much?’ I did a triathlon last year and thought: ‘I’m crazy to worry about this because when I can’t be bothered to exercise, I can’t be bothered.’

“So that freed me of that concern. And I don’t think there’s anything wrong with wanting to be the fittest of your life when you’re approaching your 40s. It’s who I am.

“I’m quite accepting of how I look. I’m happier now and feel fulfilled in so many ways. I’ve exorcised my demons.”

Watching the soaps – I do like a good British soap.

Fight, Fight, Fight for This Swagger Jagger

Cheryl Cole, nee Tweedy, is one fifth of a British girl group (Girls Aloud), manufactured on a competitive reality show, turned celebrity/solo artist. Cher Lloyd is a British solo artist, mentored by Cheryl Cole on a competitive reality show. Cheryl is huge is the UK. Depending upon your level of interest in British pop culture, you may or may not have heard of her. She sputtered when she tried to break the market in America. Cher is well known in the UK, but has achieved a global success that Cheryl was not able to attain, breaking the American market with a re-released single from her first album–on her first try.

They are remarkably similar physically. Both are tiny, pretty, brown-eyed girls with sweet features, and great smiles. They are remarkably similar as vocalists, as well. Neither are great shakes as singers, but both have released funky, poppy, can-dance-to-them tunes, produced by some of the biggest names in the business. Both have been taken under the wings of major rap and hip-hop artists, and they share very similar management.

So why did one work in the American market and not the other?

I would wager that the reason Cher Lloyd broke the states, and Cheryl Cole didn’t is the same reason that the Spice Girls are still US favorites, and most of the US has no idea what Girls Aloud are.

If you head over to YouTube and listen to some Girls Aloud [this is one of my favorites], you’ll come away thinking, “Ah–obvious successors to the Spice Girls throne.” [and for fairness, my favorite Spice Girls video] But, for all their trying, they weren’t.

The Spices (Posh having been name-linked to Cheryl Cole through shared interest in their husbands’ professions. Posh is married to soccer god David Beckham, and Cheryl Cole is divorced from Becks’ former teammate Ashley Cole–why do I know this?!) were a manufactured girl group from nowhere, who burst onto the scene with color, and excitement, and posturing, and nonsensical lyrics, and “Girl Power, feminism, blah blah blah!” They were all platform heels, insane hair, and performance art, comprised of one really good vocalist (Melanie Chisolm, Mel C a/k/a Sporty, sadly, also the least charismatic of the group), three decent vocalists, and Posh (the one who struggled in all areas, save looking good.)

Girls Aloud were formed by process of elimination on Popstars the Rivals, a precursor to the X Factor (from when Cher Lloyd came), with one of the Spice Girls (Gerri Haliwell a/k/a Ginger Spice) as part of the judging panel (again, why do I know this?!) They burst onto the scene with glorious beauty, and lip gloss, and nonsensical lyrics, and erm…lip gloss! They were all luscious hair extensions, and false eyelashes, and wind machines, comprised of one excellent vocalist (Nadine Coyle), three middling vocalists, and Cheryl Cole (the one who struggled in all areas, save looking good. Even Ginger Spice said so!)

The Spice Girls were in on the joke. They had carefully and definitively cultivated images, but they weren’t just the image. They came to work. They came to perform. They came to show you a good time. And if you laughed? Well, they were laughing, too. Spice World, anyone? (If you have not seen Spice World, you are truly missing out. I mean this sincerely.) They were successful because they came to entertain YOU. They were focused on pleasing YOU. They played to the audience.

Girls Aloud had little to no sense of humor. Their carefully cultivated image was glossy video sex appeal. Aside from Nadine’s vocals, the group didn’t have anything much different from lingere models, and their imaged was propped up for the audience to admire. They were serious about achieving celebrity, and there was no joking about their images. (I cannot find the interview they did with Russell Brand, where he throws them for a loop, calling the least attractive of the group the most beautiful, and ignoring the two most popular. He negs Nadine so effectively, I expected her to climb into his lap for attention the first time I saw it.)

So which would you rather go see? A group of middling singers who perform and engage, and work to bring you entertainment, or a group of middling singers who perform and pose, and work to look attractive, expecting that to be enough? And don’t get me wrong, Girls Aloud are gorgeous, but no way in hell would Nadine Coyle be making Spice World.

It’s the same thing with Cher and Cheryl. Cher, though a poor singer, is a brilliant performer. She is engaging and energetic, and she is working her tail feathers off to bring you a good time. She wants to perform because she loves the audience. Cheryl is beautiful, and she clearly works at making the best of what she has vocally, and she clearly works hard at learning her performance. But she performs because she wants you to love her.

And you know what the American market loves? A good time. You show us a good time, and we will love you. We will zigga-zig-ah your socks off with appreciation, no matter how goofy your hair is.

That’s how to break the American market. Just like a helicopter!

Watch This Style: Top 5 Most Stylish Music Videos From The Spice Girls!

I’m still thinking about the Spice Girls reunion for the closing ceremony of this summer’s Olympics in London & how happy it made me to see the original female fab five together on stage. Although the performance, standing atop those cars, was a little lack lustre for audiences watching on the tele, I thought that the ladies, now in their mid-to-late 30s, looked better than ever. However, I wouldn’t dream of wishing for them to reunite for a full-on album/tour since my favorite, Victoria Beckham, a.k.a. Posh Spice, has been doing so much these days as a full-time fashion designer. Every now & again I find myself glued to the tube watching the movie, Spice World, since every time, it feels like the gals have joined me in my room for a sleepover full of gossip & girly guilty pleasures.

Anyway, I thought I’d invite my readers to go back to the 90s with me & watch what I think are their top 5 most stylish music videos. Of course, you have to take into context the decade in which these videos were made. Neon pleather, midriff tops, high-heeled sneakers, & other bubble gum pop trends were in full swing, thanks to Posh, Ginger, Scary, Baby, & Sporty. I’ve included the videos for “Too Much (my favorite!!!), “Say You’ll Be There,” “2 Become 1,” “Who Do You Think You Are?,” & “Spice Up Your Life.” Of course I’m leaving out obvious favorites, including “Wannabe” & “Stop,” but we have only five to post here today. Also, I’m fond of “Goodbye,” although that signifies the end of a pop music era with the ladies who officially became a quartet just days before hitting the stage for a concert on Long Island in 1998. London 2012, Closing Ceremony

London 2012 began its handover of the closing ceremony with a jam packed concert flowing from decades to showcase Great Britain’s best in the musical spectrum.

Leading us into the show was the gorgeous Emilie Sande a fresh new name who had made her own over the last year or so in today’s current era. After belting out read all about it atop a newspaper wrapped stage, refined actor Timothy Spall appeared out of the roof of Big Ben as politican Sir Winston Churchill.

Quoting superb lines from playwrite William Shakespeare, whom everyone can learn from, reading from the play, The Tempest, Spall did a pleasing job to star the ceremony, while most probably missed the Celloist Julian Llyod Webber below due to dodgy camera angles. Shakespeare, of course, was born in Straford upon Avon should any of you been unaware. The stadium was in Stratford, East London.

Jacques Rogge and Prince Henry of Wales were introduced as they took their seats. Many did not know the name of he prince and many viewers assume his was a mistake by broadcasters. Someone may wish to explain his name to others. He took his seat next to the Duchess of Cambridge, who married his brother and fututre King of England, Prince William, earlier this year, who was absent due to a prior engagement.

Being told to stand for the national anthem, neumatic drills set off. Culture Secretary Jeremy Hunt was seated directly behind Prince Harry. Unbelievable. Anything to get himself noticed. Do yourself a favour princes, make sure you distance yourself as far as possible from Hunt. Damage limitation.

Michael Caine appeared on the screens in his trademark vocals from his films before Batman and Robin were launched from a three wheel yellow car with TIT on the side of it. TIT, which stands for Trotter’s Independant Traders is a cultural reference to a popular TV series called Only Fools and Horses, featuring two brothers in a council house aiming to hit the big time with business in the east end. Their classic fancy dress episode where they saved a councillor from a group of muggers dressed at the caped crusader and his sidekick was the reenactment on stage. The councillor had refuse a plan made by the brothers, who then had her revoke as DelBoy Derek Trotter, dressed as Batman, told her to grant them a chance.

Music group Madness came along in an act of a street party, a British tradition, celebrated by some over the Queen’s diamond mjubilee earlier this April, followed by Blur on soundtrack with trumpets playing their hit, Parklife.

Tempo soon changed with West End Girls as the Pet Shop Boys were wheeled on in cone head getup to pleasing results.

Next up were teeny boppers, One Direction, signing what makes you beautiful. The acts mimng were met with scrutiny to all those watching and asked why they were placed on the show. OneD were formed two years ago, on TV reality singing show, The X Factor.

The bin men came next as Stomp smashed their clutter instruments leading onto Spelbound performing some bouncy routines.

Ray Davies from the Kinks then arrived in a black cab, to sing Waterloo Sunset. Fans were slightly bored and unenthused of the beginning of the show to this point, so perhaps placement should have been rearranged instead.

After showing a mock up of the Gherkin building, Emelie Sande returned to sing a full on hit. Some debated why she returned while others let it pass as she was now signing a ‘proper’ lengthy song.

Indie rock band Elbow held the stage next with some good work though most had never heard of them, as flag bearers entered the stadium. Gold sailing medallist Ben Ainslie carried the flag for Team GB.

While Elbow belted out open arms, the formation was devised as all the Olympiams formed the flag into sections around the stage to watch the concert at he front of the show. This was a valid choice, though took a while as home viewers joked about hurdling sheep.

As they were ushered into cordoned off sections by joined hands of people dressed in blue suits with a lit bulb atop their head, further adding humour to the brainwaves or not of the show in parts, had the song playlist we had all just heard of acts mentioned above replay as it did on the sound system once again. Viewers and on goers we’re highly upset with this, wondering why more acts could not have sang instead. There was no need to replay the song list hey had just heard, in their view.

White boxes reminiscent of Rubix cubes were constructed to build a platform as Kate Bush ‘s running up that hill blared on soundtrack. She was not here, sparking further fury. Should’ve booked her to sing Baboushka with Eurovision’s Russian grannies. That would have entertained.

After medals were presented for the last time to the Men’s Marathon winners, volunteers were thanked and appreciated.

Then the party started picking up its pace. Rock band Queen’s opening lens of Bohemian Rhapsody began to ring out. Fans went wild. Then John Lennons imagine started to play. Fans respected Lennon but were baffled as to why Queen started playing only to be cut off.

Children began singing imagine as crowds began to be annoyed with the hypocrisy of sterotypical children signing when placed on the stage as a political agenda to the conservative party government. The kids outdid themselves and proudly sang and sign languaged the words for those watching in a caring manner.

Lennon’s imagie made people respond “Proud to be British” which they are, but just not too proud of the way some of it has been handled by the government in the country.

It ended with a fantastic dome jigsaw as kids crammed to gather on the stage to bury the,selves under an igloo rock that bearded the very face of John Lennon as a mark of respect, with Yoko Ono’s blessing. It was an excellent display.

Pace gathered as “Freedom” began and George Michael beated onto the stage with some funky dance moves, as well as belting out his new coming single, I’m Alive. He was happy to be there.

Kaiser Chiefs raced to the scene on backs of bikes, singing just can’t get enough in a short span before leaving quickly as pop supremo David Bowie’s Let’s Dance rang out. Advertisers and sponsors who marred the games with empty seats finally got their attendance they wanted with a mass pay off as billboards were driven into the stadium. Featuring poosters of Naomi Campbell and Kate Moss, were driven to the stage as Fashion, Another of Bowie’s excellent hits played. Bowie, was not there.

The boards broke down as crowd roared to see the very supermodels behind their posters, clad in gold cajoled dresses. They then proceed down a catwalk of the stage to meet in the middle with a couple of guys including model David Gandy and a few other females.

The tone quickly changed as Annie Lennox steered out on a ship at its trainload front look hellish. She wasn’t performing Wild Boys by Duran Duran with a modern twist, instead she performed Bram Stoker’s Dracula Portugal to the theme of Little Bird. Some instantly gave the Titanic comparison.

Ed Sheeren, a good guy, was on next as most were uninterested, even if understanding he is talented to some level. It didn’t fit the tone after Lennox or the brief of the show , most felt. Perhaps placement could have been better arranged.

Russell Brand, ex hubby of Katy Perry and comedian and slight actor sparked more interested dressed like Willy Wonka, you can guess what alliteration came from some viewers, as he came out in some flower power bus. Where was Scooby Doo to save us? The mystery machine would have been better.

He handed over to DJ Fat Boy Slim who was inside a massive octopus. Did it all hit the squids?

Jessie J then brought the show back. Signing Price Tag fans erupted with a singalong they enjoyed. She flew past on the back of a sporty vehicle windswept in pure class. Then we saw Tinie Tempah in the back of a car take to the stage with Written In The Stars. JJ whizzed around the stadium as Taio Cruz Dynamite proved a massive reaction to get the spirit partying.

All three stars met up in the centre of the stage to sing a fantastic Bee Gees track, You Should Be Dancing. The trio did a great job here, though some felt was a bit too long winded and lost some momentum.

The show was about to change for the best part of the evening. Turning dark, five black cabs pulled up, as a thunderous tune boomed over the sound system. This was it. Fans went wild. Ahhhhhh….

Spicey Cabs

“So tell me what you want….” The Spice Girls burst onto the scene, all five of them to electrify the spectators all over the world. The spices cans continued as the girls climbed atop their taxi’s holding guard rails as they set off to whizz around the stadium and “Spice up your life!” “Arrrribbbaaaaa!”

The crowd was filled with madness and enthusiasm galore, prompting many to seek the revival of the five piece band to make their long awaited comeback as felt they were needed in the world one again. The Spice’s stole the night, as some dodgy dancing from London Mayor Boris Johnson and Prime Minister David Cameron was witnessed. The dad and uncle dancing moves made the whole of Britain cringe with laughter for their put of touch swaying and hand clapping.

Transition from lively spice to mundane spice, one Gallagher brother then took per the procession to sing an Oasis hit, which cold not follow his predecessors as well as many wishing both bro’s could have been on stage together.

With a weather forecast looming and “Blue Sky” most were unaware of what was going on as a cannon was launched and a figure fell into the stage breaking it. Emerging from beneath the crowd changed its mood slightly as they saw Eric Idle full on to sing Always look on the bright side of life from the classic Monty Phython series. For those that didn’t know this was the presenters jobs to fill in the blanks all over the world.

Gladiators arrived on stage, as then did a Bollywood take over to express the cultural changes over time. We wonder what the silent MP Aiden Burnley had to as about this one.

Business picked up in an unexpected and excellent act took to the stage. Rock group Muse, winners of numerous best live act gongs with NME and other music industries proved their place on the line up with great live music once more. Shocking more than anything was that someone thought to book them when most assumed they wouldn’t be selected. We were glad they got recognition. They did it in glitter blazer sequins. Dazzling.

Freddie Mercury was then portrayed on a large screen. Uttering every word perfectly from his live tours, the audience were eating out of his every word in unison. It was an amazing collaboration.

Guitarist rock god Brian May dominated the stage with a powerful strumming sensation ripping the arena with sound as Roger Taylor on drums supported him. Both Queen rockers met with the returning Jessie J to perform We Will Rock You in amazing scenes which Freddie Mercury would have applauded.

In an unexplained move we were told the Greek national anthem would be up next. No one understood why. No one explained why.

A welsh choir began signing the Olympic anthem. The flags started to come down. London 2012 was beginning its departure.

Boris Johnson waved the flag, as he passed it to Jacques Rogge, who then waved and transferred it to the Mayor of Rio de Janeiro, Eduardo Paes as the Brazilian anthem played. Memorise it, you’ll soon here it a lot more.

We then saw a random sweeper with a broom on the stage. Scared that another security blunder occurred from letdown company G4S, one security guard charged onto the stage to have a word with him. Telling him off, the cleaner, equipped with broom, broke into a dance. The security guard soon blame overcome with the beat and showed him how it was to be done. An umbrella lady and a vibrant samba crew joined the party with some green headed clones, stealing the headdresses of Queen Nefertiti it would seem, to partake in some Pharoa frolics and dance us into 2016, as the man from del monte came on also. It was a mass celebration to raise the part spirit as London handed over to Rio.

Chairman of seven years for the games Sebastian Coe took to a never ending speech of self portrayal to enhance his own reputation on the guise of attempting to coverup with a stance on it being for London. Coe had been the focus of many empty seats, where overpriced tickets, and sponsors who didn’t turn up to sit in those seats marred the games seven years in the making. Blamed for the reason, sponsors only received 8% of tickets. Thousands of seats were empty almost every day.

To save face Coe ended stating “Britain did it right.” In order to prove to the world who constantly knock Great Brtain, GB proved it was more than capable and able to do so. GB acknowledges that. The only problem GB has is the put of touch issues with the government towards its people. Apart from that Great Britain DID do it right.

Jacque Rogge told us to “never forget” and “we all deserved the rot to be called Olympians” for those who excelled to make it a “happy and glorious games” before saying “thank you London” for the hospitality to the games and all the nations and Olympians competing. The crowds were riveting to all in a mass union of respect and heartfelt passion for what they do as well as being a part of sporting greatness welcoming them to the capital.

Pop group Take That, minus Robbie Williams, were about to finish the show. Singing Rule the World the quartet supported the country and one another, as lead singer Gary Barlow had suffered heartache with the loss of his baby, Poppy, just days before. Tremendous respect came from the country as a nation stood with him as he did his duty for Queen and country.

Dancing extrodaniare Darcy Bussel flitted around the stage as a lit Phoenix burning behind jetted her in to the sound of church, occult, gothic chorus themes. Bussel joins TV dancing reality show, Strictly Come Dancing, most know in country’s by it’s spin off sister series Dancing with the stars, from which it DWTS originated.

Busting her moves, Bussel left, though seemingly over fans started to leave. Others wondered at what point it would end. The Wo were the final act of the evening to close the ceremony completely. Most did not know Who they were. The reason they played last was because it featured one word only, which had been the strapline for London 2012′s games. The one was talkin’ bout my “generation” as the strap line for the games was “Inspire a generation.”

Apart from placement of some acts and others omitted, with the absence of Sir Elton John, whom many thought and stated should have closed the show on a jivey end, and Bowie, Boyle and Bush uninvolved fully questioned some of the proceedings of those there.

The Spice Girls clearly dominated the event and with such short space and a track list replaying, could have allowed more time to them and add in a few extra acts. These mismanagement question how out of touch a government and organisers may fully be with a younger and wider audience which Danny Boyle managed to connect fully with on the opening ceremony.

To flaunt London, as great as it truly is, to the world, by being backward with portrayal in certain areas made a slight knock on the show which need to re-encapture the youth of today’s Britain positively, rather than focusing on families with babies and political values in order to “inspire” this generation to get up off their backsides, which they spend mos of their time doing, to encourage seeking work rather than forcing them with ransoms to their benefits and proving experience and attendance which the government snubbed due to their own snobbery for special guest and Rupert Murdoch to gain political exposure favourably. Tell me, did any of them pay for their extortionate tickets the multiple events they attended? Hmmm… Moaning that the country does not put into the pot is a double standard when politicians and special guests paid nothing to sit at the events first class to take liberties, perhaps? Oh, the irony…

The nation may be inspire for a week, but the after effects, with the Prime Minister and his deputy taking a two week holiday, returning in time for the Paralympic Games, leaving the country without anyone to run it in charge, hasn’t thought how to inspire when cutting sports and availability in the country as well as forgetting about how to support the over 25-30 category of the countries residents. They are the one’s you need to focus on giving opportunities to in order to make the country and its economy grow. After the flood

It has been almost two weeks since I last wrote an entry, given the then-impending first part of my comprehensive exams (August 6 — which was also Mon and I’s 3rd year and 11th month together) and the second part that I took last Monday. But my exams are not to be blamed because the southwest monsoon (locally known as habagat) just put us through a very rough time – a very scary flooding episode. >_<

The flood was less than a foot and a half short of totally submerging our first floor and it was really scary. One thing I’ve realized during that experience was we can never EVER rely on the government to save us from a similar event. I vow to buy our own rubber boat just in case. I’ve spent the whole night waking up from my very shallow sleep each time the rain would fall down. Very traumatic. The whole world might already know my cellphone number and I spent that night waiting, asking and begging rescue for my family. Ugh.

The funny thing was when I realized that there will be flooding, the first things that I tried saving were my shoes. Priorities, I know. LOL And for good measure, I have put ALL of my bags in the uppermost cabinet of our house! I can’t afford to have them submerged in water, the same way most of my bags met their doom in Ondoy. As you can see from the picture below, the water reached the same level as the sole of my 14-hole Doc Martens. All but ONE pair got submerged and unfortunately, it was my favorite brown pair. >_< I have thoroughly cleaned it and applied a liberal amount of mink oil to at least restore the leather.

But I felt really bad for our dogs, especially that my beloved Sophie had to endure this sort of thing again. When we finally went home, she was so happy to hear my voice that she sprinted all the way down and pounced me with her muddy paws. Very lovely. ♥

Anyway, we’re still not finished cleaning the house because my mother has a TON of unnecessary stuff. I’m quite proud of myself that I was able to take the second part of my comprehensive exams in spite of everything that happened. I almost reached the point of crying last Sunday because I was still not yet done reviewing and the nature of the exam concerning international events was very wide that ANYTHING on the news can appear as a question. I narrowed it down to the Euro crisis, Syrian Civil War and the Iranian sanctions. And for good measure, I have squeezed in the ASEAN ministerial meeting and the South China Sea question because I had a good feeling it would be asked, and I was right. But not a single question about the Arab Spring and I also thought that North Korea’s missile test last April would appear, but I don’t have enough information to back my argument.

I only have one exam left, and given that it fell on a regular holiday, there’s a great chance it might be moved to a later date. This whole month has been one big blur and I did not even feel the presence of the Olympics. Good thing — the Spice Girls admittedly gave me life last Monday! It was all I’ve waited two weeks ago!

A SPICY finish for London 2012

The Spice girls definitely caught the attention of most at the Olympic closing ceremony on Sunday.
(Yes I know I am late but I had to get over just how stiff Posh really is – luv yah Vic)!

They arrived on stage in 5 personalised Black taxis (very English fnar fnar) and launched into their first ever and arguably, most annoying hit song, ‘Wannabe’…zigga zig aaah!

Mel B looked absolutely fab in a catsuit that would make even JLo a lil bit jel and the highlight of their set had to be the fact that, besides looking like she had a plank in her back, Posh spice smiled!!!!
Yep she actually looked like she was enjoying herself after all that nonsense leading up claiming she didn’t want to be involved.

Geri aka Ginger Spice (does she still call herself that) looked as desperate, I mean as enthusiastic as ever – bless her and Sporty…well Sporty shocked me by upping the ante in a silver pair of wedge trainers. She looked great and has clearly matured from Sporty mannish Spice to Sporty feminine mummy Spice – round of applause for Sporty.

Nothing really to say about Baby Spice apart from thank fook she got rid of those damn block heeled trainers that made her look like some sort of Barbie meets Frankenstein hybrid!

Spice Girls: How they were.

One thing I will say is, you cannot knock them for entertainment value, they still have legions of fans and they most certainly got the crowd jumping and looked like they all had a lot of fun so you know what…good for them…SPICE UP YA LIFE!!!

How about that super secret Spice performance at the Olympics Closing Ceremonies ay? I’d wager a pretty penny that it was the single greatest thing to happen to this world since Alan Cumming joined the cast of Spice World. They had glitz and glam and cabbies galore. Posh didn’t smile! Baby wore pink! USA swimming sensation Missy Franklin knew the words to “Spice Up Your Life” and she was a mere fetus when their debut album was released in 1996! I don’t think I’m alone when I say that the only thing missing was a double-decker bus wrapped up tight in the British flag.

The Spice Girls just make me smile. Hearing their music brings me back to a much simpler time, a time when I would sneak into my big brother Alex’s room to steal his Spice CD and listen to it on my boom box on repeat. Now hear me out — If Alex knew I was sharing this with you, it would be noogie central, so let’s just keep that between you and me, shall we? The truth is, Alex SWEARS that he did not own the album…but I SWEAR he did! I can picture it now, smack dab in between his copy of the Space Jam soundtrack and Seal’s single “Kiss From A Rose.” Why I didn’t just go to The Wall and buy my own copy is beyond me (The Wall? Anyone? Where my suburbies at?) Lord knows I was at the mall every Friday night anyway.

My first taste of the Spice Girls was, like most tweens at the time, on MTV. ”Wannabe” (and its accompanying music video) was the biggest British thing to happen to America since ~~blood pudding~~ The Beatles and everyone from Madonna to Nelson Mandela was embracing Girl Power. The girls were fun and the song was loud and Mel B. was rapping and all was right with the world. Show me a girl from 1996 who didn’t know that Em was in your face and V didn’t come for free and I’ll.. I’ll.. OK I can’t do anything, but I’m pretty sure they’ll at least remember Scary Spice’s green tube top.

In their heyday, Spice Style was crazy and out there yet totally relatable, which made Halloweens’ 1996-98 a breeze. Throw on a track suit and an arm band tattoo and you’re Mel C or simply rock a Union Jack flag on your tummy and you’re easily the best Ginger Spice in your neighborhood. Spice Style weaved all the way down to my suburban 6^th grade class – remember those super high platform sneakers favored by Ms. Emma Bunton? Well you better believe that when Steve Madden came out with a slightly less platformed version they were the first item on my holiday wish list. Man, what I wouldn’t give to wear a pair of those puppies again. They were caj yet surprisingly fancy. True story – I once wore them to a funeral (elementary school fashion is clearly meant for another blog, another time).

The Spice Girls came into our lives at the perfect time. While there were haters aplenty, the world was ready to embrace their silliness and revel in their infectiousness. Like a mid-90s Carly Rae Jepson, whether you liked them or not, they got you tapping your toes and whistling their tunes when they burst through the speakers of your local coffee shop. There’s a reason Spice sold 28 million albums — and I don’t think it has anything to do with Alan Cumming.

What the HELL am I supposed to do with my days now? Please someone suggest a hobby or activity I can involve myself in because I really don’t know how life will continue minus the Olympics.

Ok, bit dramatic but didn’t we do well. Jolly good show Britain! David Cameron said possibly the first line in history that I agree with yesterday; “Britain Delivered. We reminded ourselves what we can do!” Yes, Dave. Yes, we did. Bravo.

Where do I even start?! Let’s just go straight with it and dive in head first….THE SPICE GIRLS WERE EPIC! My childhood was suddenly flashing before my eyes as Ginger, Posh, Baby, Sporty & Scary frolicked on top of those cabs (wondering how Health & Safety let that go quite frankly) “La-la-la”-ing in their designer frocks. Ah yes…those frocks. Let’s discuss…

Vicky in S T U N N I N G Giles Deacon, Geri in Suzanne Neville (complete with Union Jack ruffles…yay!), Emma in Maggie Cooke, Mel B in a rather tight (and camel-toe inducing) Zuhair Murad suit and Mel C was in.. erm… JD Sports?! Ok, cool.

Other HUGE highlights included Madness, Tinie Tempah, Kaiser Chiefs (on the most spectacular looking scooters EVER), the John Lennon tribute and also Brian May. Wow. Megastars R Us London!

Total bummers for me were One Direction (what have they done to deserve that slot..hmmmm?!), Jessie J (that awkward moment when she sang “it’s not about the money” atop a Rolls Royce) and Russell Brand singing and introducing a ginormous L.E.D octopus to the proceedings… (WTF?!)

After feeling disheartened when the Kaisers performed ‘Pinball Wizard’, I began wondering if The Who were already in bed with a hot cocoa. What was I thinking?! One of the best live bands of all time and the total epitome of rock stars they totally spanked newbies such as Taio Cruz, Jessie J and One Direction in their performance. Absolute legends.

I can’t believe it’s over, just like the rest of the nation. Everytime I see Greg Rutherford or Jessica Ennis I well up with deep pride for what we have achieved!

But it’s sort of like…

Viva Forever! Spice Girls!

Reunited for the first time since 2007, the pop quintet arrived to a rapturous reception in black cabs.

As a swarm of taxis circuited the stadium, five cars made their way to the centre before Victoria Beckham, Mel C, Mel B, Emma Bunton and Geri Halliwell popped out.

They launched into their breakthrough hit Wannabe, but the highlight was their No1 1997 smash Spice Up Your Life.

The girls themselves jumped atop their respective cabs before being driven around the venue, entertaining the enthralled audience as they sped by.

Emma looked on particularly good form, winning over a whole new generation of male admirers in a stunning pink dress.

Victoria also wowed in a tight black frock that showed off her legs, and even managed a little smile or two throughout the group’s short routine.

Mel B wore a figure-hugging bodysuit, Geri dazzled in a red number adorned with a Union Jack, while Mel C opted for a bright white baggy jumpsuit.

Following their triumphant return, Geri tweeted: “That was amazing!!!! Thank you all , we love you!!xx

Victoria posted a backstage snap of the girls huddled together, writing: “We did it!! I love u girls so much!!!!! xxx vb”

It’s been reported last night’s gig will be the last time ever the Spice Girls will perform live as a quintet.

I’m not a big Olympics fan. I never watch any of the coverage, winter or summer. However, having lived in London for a year, I wanted to watch the opening and closing ceremonies. So glad I did – I greatly enjoyed The Queen and her “Good evening, Mr. Bond.” moment. And last night, well, the Spice Girls rocked the house. Yeah, yeah, I know I know but I love them. They’ve all come so far – they’ve had solo careers, babies etc. Anyway. Just wanted you to be able to Spice Up Your Life.

Hiya Poutlings!

It finally happened: the Spice Girls reunited for Closing Ceremony of the 2012 London Olympics to sing a medley of “Wannabe” and “Spice Up Your Life” atop bling-covered black cabs.I know its early and Monday morning and all but I stayed up to watch them Spice Girls perform last night and well, I’m not sure how I’m functioning this well, this early… thank you coffee!!

Everyone appears … as beautiful as ever. Baby Spice Emma Bunton ditched the kinderwhore look of 1998 and looks decidedly more grown up in her hot pink dress. And it’s weird for me when Victoria Beckham doesn’t scowl. I hope that was worth the six months of being excited about it… especially as this is speculated to be the last time to see the fab 5 perform!

I consider my life SPICED!

As I have previously mentioned, THE SPICE GIRLS ARE GOING TO BE PERFORMING AT THE OLYMPICS CLOSING CEROMONY!! And since it has been a few years since they all got together to Spice up everyone’s lives, they’ve been caught rehearsing in the UK as proven by these recent paparazzi shots of the girls standing in formation atop bedazzled cars, to go with the bedazzled microphone perhaps!

OMG, bedazzled cars and microphones, I feel like I’ve been transported back to my 1996 equivilent of HEAVEN, spice version!!

Victoria Beckham is still looking every bit her super stylish and POSH self with her trademarked five inch heels. The other girls from the Spice Rack are a bit more casual in the photos but I have no doubt that they will be dressed to the nines this weekend… I cannot wait to see what designer goodies they will be wearing! EEEK!

In related news, E! has reported that the fab five will be joined by other big names like One Direction, The Who, George Micheal and Jessie J which means this is going to be one very epic night.

It has been rumoured for some time that the Spice Girls will get together for one special performance during the Olympic closing ceremony on Sunday. Today, we finally have proof. Check them out in rehearsals today!

Victoria, Geri, Emma, Mel C and Mel B were practicing their performance on top of customised black cabs at a Ford plant in Dagenham today and you can see all the pictures below.

It is thought that they will sing a compilation of their greatest hits. While Sporty, Baby, Ginger and Scary seemed to get pretty into it, Victoria looked like she wasn’t particularly happy to be there.

I am so happy they have a part in the show and I’m sure their performance will be amazing! I’m so excited to see it!

Jessie J, Taio Cruz, Tinie Tempah, Annie Lennox, Brian May, George Michael, Madness and Russell Brand have also been spotted at rehearsals. You can see the finished product live at 9pm on Sunday.

Feast your eyes on these pictures! The Spice Girls are in rehearsals for the closing ceremony of the 2012 Olympics.

After much speculation, it was reported that Victoria, Geri, Mel C, Mel B and Emma would reunite solely for the closing ceremony of London 2012 and despite no official confirmation from the girls themselves (apart from Victoria’s TwitPic of a jewel encrusted microphone), these pictures are all the proof we need!

The five-piece were spotted at the Ford car plant in Dagenham yesterday, gearing up for their performance at the star-studded closing ceremony, which is set to feature the likes of One Direction, Coldplay and many more.

The Wannabe chart-toppers were spotted on top of classic black cabs and while all the girls looked relaxed and casual, Victoria didn’t compromise on style – letting everyone know who the world-renowned fashion designer is, in skyscraper heels and skin-tight leather trousers.

Rumours were rife in the run-up to the Games as to whether or not the Spice Girls would be on the closing ceremony bill and with talk of a feud between Victoria and Mel B; plans of a reunion looked dubious.

However, as the band rehearsed in the sun yesterday, they looked friendly and content and come Sunday, they are sure to SPICE UP ALL OUR LIVES.

The Spice Girls are rumoured to be set to reform for one last show at the Olympics 2012 Closing Ceremony. The girls comprised one of the ’90s’ most iconic pop bands- hosting sold out concerts, coveting multiple Christmas number 1 spots on the UK chart and even starring in their own film. But how much do you really know about the Spice Girls? Here’s ten facts you never knew about our five favourite poptarts:

1. When they originally formed, the Spice Girls had grand ideas about representing the concept of ‘Girl Power’- an idea that aimed to empower women, gave them a voice and promoted equality between males and females. Once they had been given permission to do this by their male manager, Simon Fuller, the girls marketed their ‘Girl Power’ image by wearing slutty clothes, having lots of public catfights and being anorexic. Brilliant.

2. The aliases that made them famous: Scary Spice, Sporty Spice, Ginger Spice, Posh Spice and Baby Spice almost didn’t happen. Originally, the girls wanted to call themselves Butch Spice, Bulimia Spice, The Bestest One Spice, I’m Rolling My Eyes At This Spice and Passive Aggressive Spice. Simon Fuller said no. Girl Power.

3. While their first successful release was ‘Wannabe’ in 1996, the Spice Girls had released a prior song that had failed to set the charts alight, reaching number 38 on the ‘Children’s Party Song’ chart. ‘Last Night I Spat In Grumpyface’s Tea- Next Time I’ll Piss In It’ was penned by Geri Halliwell, aka Ginger Spice, and to this day, the rumours that the song is inspired by her ongoing hatred for Victoria Beckham are unconfirmed.

4. Geri isn’t the only aspiring songwriter of the group. Mel C, aka Sporty Spice had written songs during her time in the group, but alas, ‘Going To Start A Rumour That I’m A Lesbian (And See What Happens)’, ‘Broad Shoulders’ and ‘My Adidas Button-Up Don’t Wash Very Well’ didn’t make it on to any of the group’s albums.

5. The band was rocked when Geri Halliwell decided to bow out in 1998, and rumours of a rift between Geri and Mel B, aka Scary Spice were rife. However, in reality, the reason for Geri’s departure was due to creative differences between her and all of the other girls, who disagreed with Geri’s vision to rename the group, ‘Geri Halliwell and the Other People’, in which they would only release songs about Geri and her positive attributes. The idea that the group would spend their free time trying to build a time travelling machine for the purpose of travelling back to Geri’s school days and slapping her now-deceased music teacher who had said Geri had [quote] ‘not an ounce of talent in her deluded body’ were also rejected.

6. In 1998, while Geri’s departure from the band left their musical future in tatters, Victoria Beckham (then Adams), aka Posh Spice, was about to embark upon a romantic adventure. We now know her as the wife of David Beckham, but Victoria had to kiss a lot of frogs to meet her prince. ‘I realised I’d be back on the dole once the band was over and needed to secure myself a rich husband before that happened, so I made my way around the Premiership and touched lucky on my 78th go’, says the WAG, ‘Thank God for David- he’s my pedestal. Did I say pedestal? I meant rock.’

7. One person who has managed to maintain a friendship with all of the others is Emma Bunton, aka Baby Spice. ‘I just let those fuckers waffle on about how much they hate the others, and nod along. I barely even listen. Now I’m worrying that it’s given me a brain tumour. But don’t worry, because if I play my cards right, surviving that will no doubt secure me a spot on Loose Women when Carol McGiffen pulls a sickie due to menopause’, she laughs.

8. After the Spice Girls officially disbanded, the girls have had successful solo careers. But no more so than Mel B, who spends her days getting pregnant by high profile Hollywood actors, then having publicly documented fights with them in tabloids over the paternity of her children. ‘I’m laying the foundation for my children to follow on in the family business by securing them their own reality shows in which they are filmed on their journeys to find their fathers later in life. After all, ‘It’s a Scary World’ out there, people! Jenny Craig. Other endorsements!’ says the star.

9. Sadly, it has been reported that Mel B’s rampant success after the Spice Girls has provoked a lot of jealousy amongst the others. ‘I wish I was on Bo Selecta,‘ moaned Victoria.

10. The Spice Girls have vowed that their up-coming performance at the London Olympics’ Closing Ceremony will be their last, but with the public hotly anticipating the reunion, some of the girls are hoping that the performance will reignite the band. ‘I wear leggings all day anyway, so as long as I get to wear tracksuit bottoms, I’m in’, says an enthusiastic Mel C. Emma Bunton has also been quoted as saying, ‘If it doesn’t affect my Child Tax Credits, then I’ll do it’. Geri Halliwell is said to be the mastermind behind the potential comeback. ‘I’m sharpening my knife’, laughs the star. Maniacally.

Words can’t express how much this excites me and hopefully it is true because come on, Spice Girls are a part of British culture whether you like or not so it makes sense.

Finally we’re here! After all the build up, that magnificent opening ceremony and now the quest for our first Gold medal we are officially experiencing high-octane Olympic mania. The Jubilee had us brimming over with English pride earlier this summer but it all seems to have paled into significance with the thrill of playing host in our very own capital city. Here at Dressipi HQ, Fashion Editor Nicki and I were lucky enough to be involved in an early rev-up to these few weeks whilst shooting the 11 “Great Britons” who lent their support to celebrate the Official Team GB scarf. All of the proceeds go to supporting the athletes and with scarves being a hot fashion accessory this season what better way to celebrate this summer’s amazing events. I did not watch the Olympics opening because I was really busy. Not too mention that it was aired around 4:00 AM here in Manila — no way I’d stay up for that. Anyway, I’ve been too preoccupied with my coming exam exactly a week from now, but I can’t help but be EXTREMELY excited over this:

OMG!?!?!?! Is this final? For real? The Spice Girls are performing in the closing ceremony? *dead* After on-and-off news whether or not they are performing, I’m so anticipating this performance. Of course I had a feeling that this won’t push through because of Victoria. As much as I love her, she already dove head first into the world of fashion. But you don’t say no to the Queen! But contrary reports mentioned that it was actually Mel B. who was making excessive demands. Hmm… As long as they are performing, then count me in! I won’t be this fabulous if not for these girls, SERIOUSLY! LOL To all the haters who think they don’t deserve to perform, over here so you may take your seats. These girls pretty much carried the British flag in the 90s, and Geri even wore it!
