Das Melt! Festival gibt es schon seit 12. Ausgaben. Wie sieht die Zukunft aus und was ist noch geplant. Die Fragen beantwortete Dirk Völler – Pressesprecher vom Melt! Festival.

Er ist nicht Dj sondern Livekünstler. Er hoffentlich schon vor dem Film “Berlin Calling” bekannt.  Aber eines steht fest er macht gute Musik und hat auch zu anderen Themen was zu sagen. Stichworte: Fußball, Gentrifizierung, Philosophie, Geschichte, Soziologie. Viel Vergnügen mit einem Vertreter vom Berliner Label BPitch Control.

Ich weiß nicht, was ich toller fand: die Aussicht von einem der imposanten Bagger auf die surreal anmutende Szenerie oder in der Nacht ungläubig auf die lichtgefluteten Stahlmonster hinauf zu starren, die sich irgendwann mal, vor Zeiten des Klimawandels- und Bewusstsein, durch Kohle tagebauwerkten, oder im Fotografen-Graben zu stehen und all die großartigen Bands ohne Wackelkontakt auf die Kamera zu bannen oder bei Oasis auf die Schultern genommen zu werden und die Menschen mithymnen zu sehen (tausende Festivalbesucher könnten nie sechs Mancunians neben mir ersetzen) oder tanzend bei chk-chk-chk Gänsehaut zu bekommen, trotz Schal, Regenjacke und Lederstiefeln oder mit all den tollen Menschen und Freunden unterwegs gewesen zu sein und zusammen drei Tage Regen, Sturm, umherfliegende Pavillons, eingeschränkte Waschmöglichkeiten, Dixi-Klo-Gestank, das ganze Festivalprogramm wie man es eben kennt, durchgestanden, nicht allzu viel Geld in die 4 Euro teuren Biere gesteckt, dafür aber unglaublich viel Spaß gehabt zu haben.

Groen Koncert
Lige en hurtig soendagsopsamling paa musikfestivalfronten. Hvis det skal vaere mainstream, saa maa den jo staa paa Groen Koncert, der turnerer vort lille kongerige rundt. Saa godt som samtlige store byer faar en omgang Sys Bjerre, LOC, Kashmir. DJ Static har staaet for aarets programvideo, hvor udvalgte numre scratches fint sammen af den danske Master of Scratch.

Melt Festival i Ferropolis

Man skal vaere underligt skruet sammen, hvis man mener, at der er meget indie over Groen Koncert… Melt Festival i Ferropolis ca. 100 km syd for Berlin er dog en anden sag. Masser af fine navne saerligt inden for elektronisk musik og alternativ rock. Og saa er settingen et open air industrimuseum med nogle minemaskiner og kraner, der vil noget! 90′er drum and bass-ikonet Goldie kigger forbi. Arrangementet er for foerste gang udsolgt, og paa diverse fora, fx Bandbase og Soundvenue, kan man se folk, der er ude efter billetter. Dagsbilletter lige paa ganske rimelige 45 euro.

Gratis chill-out m. Stella Polaris
Det begyndte i Vennelystparken i Aarhus. Nu koerer Stella Polaris, den gratis chillout-festival paa 13 omgang, og selv om programmet endnu ikke er offentligtgjort, saa tyder det godt, naar verdensnavnet Moby er booket til afterparty paa Rust.

Malk de Koijn spiller ikke til fede dage i Thy… Aergerligt nok. Det var sommeres medie-falsum…

Getting super hyped for this one coming up on Friday July 17 – 19! Just one hour from Berlin at Gräfenhainichen and next to the lake. Some of the acts I’m looking forward to are: TRG, Royksopp, Radioslave, Skream, Benga, Kode 9 and Space ape, Aphex Twin, Simian Mobile Disco, Moderat, MSTRKRFT, Deadmau5, Daniel Haaksman ft Deize Tigrona, Boy 8-Bit, Buraka Som Sistema, Diplo, Drop The Lime, Jesse Rose, Ellen Allien, Erol Alkan vs Boys Noize, Digitalism, Shir Khan, Brodinski, Yuksek.. The title of this post might be somewhat misleading in that you may think I’m a dab hand at camping and am passing on some survival wisdoms… Sadly no – me at festivals without exception NEVER involves camping and these recommendations are based soley on the rather nifty items we’ve been sent for inclusion in the upcoming Who’s Jack festival issue.

In no particular order, we’re loving:

• Mini cans of gin and tonic: they fit in your bag, they are instant glamour and they get you a bit drunker than warm, flat beer
• Gladiator sandals by Firetrap: cute enough to work a red carpet as well as a field (as about to be demonstrated tonight by me) and make your feet look rock and roll even if they’re a bit f*cked from running without socks on
  

  cute, huh?

• ‘Say Yes to Carrots’: if, like me you’re prone to being a bit ginger so progressively dye your hair red to counterbalance this (niche market, i know) you might sometimes find yourself humming ‘She Don’t Use Jelly’ in the shower… So this range of beauty and haircare products made me laugh
• Mirror shades: my last ones suspiciously went missing and I felt a bit naked without them. Thankfully now have a replacement which change colour from silver to gold and mean I can stare at fit men across a field without arousing attention
  

  hmmm, suspicious loss of my shades...

• Sam Young’s ‘Nod Factor label mix’ : I have it on my ipod. You don’t. You’ll have to wait til i-DJ mag runs it before you can download the perfect soundtrack to a tent party…
• Topshop’s union jack blazer:  We’ve been coveting it since the Who’s Jack Brit shoot
• Mini Victoria sponge cakes: they’re cute, they’re yum and they remind us of Victoria Hart (the perfect festival companion)

We were also quite chuffed to be invited to have been invited yesterday to a cool sounding festival called Melt! as we think there might be some hot coal miners there…have a look at the website

There’s only one place to be this summer, I’m waiting for a TBC on a DJ gig but if it doesn’t confirm I’m there!

Of ik nog eens naar Werchter wil dit jaar. Er ligt een perskaart voor me klaar. Nee, dit jaar bedank ik voor de eer: na meer dan 10 jaar hardcore festivallen ben ik eerder toe aan iets nieuws.

Dour was destijds zoiets leuk nieuws: ons tentje plempten we op 20 meter van de ingang van het festivalterrein en het was het beste festival ever. Maar tegenwoordig is Dour telkens uitverkocht, dus ben ik al twee jaar niet meer geweest. Is er nog zo’n ruwe diamant te vinden? Vriendinnen vertelden van een onvergetelijk evenement in iets wat Verneukpan heet in Zuid Afrika. Alleen de locatie klinkt al geweldig. Dichter bij huis werd het Melt!Festival getipt. En jawohl, dit ziet er speciaal uit: moddervette line up en een bijzondere eiland vol staalconstructies in Duitsland. Goeie kans dat ik daar dit jaar mijn portie festivalgeluk ga halen.

Gehst du mit?

WhoWhatWear.com zeigt uns ein schickes Festival Outfit und auch wenn mir die Sachen gut gefallen, bin ich trotzdem der Ansicht, dass die ältesten Chucks + die älteste Jeans immer noch die beste Kombi ist! Aber in den Staaten sind die Festivals bestimmt auch nicht solche Schlammschlachten wie hierzulande. Dabei fällt mir ein, dass ich noch Karten für das Melt! Festival bestellen wollte. Grande Katastrophe: es findet parallel zur Fashion Week Berlin statt! Mieses Timing, aber ich denke dieses Mal geht die Musik vor – bei dem Line Up…
