The Red Suitcase (The Return Home and a New Beginning)
Rhonda moved in slow motion. She appeared to be awake but she was oblivious to the people around her. She was in a different world, a world of spirits and past lives. She continued to argue with someone who was not present, someone giving her directions on where to go and what to do. She grabbed one of the bags stacked neatly in front of her. “I need to put on my makeup and freshen up first. Give me a minute.” She paused and then said softly, “O.k., I’ll hurry.”
I watched her go through a ritual of organizing her suitcases and making sure that none of her bags of food had been moved and were in proper sequence. She adjusted a few of the bags, shifting them a few inches one way or another. Finally satisfied with her efforts, she patted her pillow and spoke to it endearingly, and then moved briskly down the aisle.
I wanted to follow as close as I could without disturbing her trance, but I was interrupted by the two women I had protected before. “He’s after us again,” one of the women said. “Won’t he ever stop?”
Mercury boy was trailing after them, stopping to pose whenever they looked. He saw me heading his way and he disappeared into the neighboring car.
“I’ll speak to the attendant about him,” I said. “Somebody needs to keep an eye on him. He seems a bit weird.”
One of the women, who appeared to be in her late twenties or early thirties, said, “I’m Joy and this is Ann. We hate to keep bothering you but no one else seems to care. Do you mind if we tag along with you?”
I wanted to say I was on a secret mission but all I could say was, “Sure, I don’t mind. I was following that woman who sat across the aisle from me.”
Joy looked at me with confusion. “You’re not stalking her, are you?”
I was amused. “No, I think she might have something of mine. But now I’ve lost her and I don’t know where she went.”
“We’ll help you find her. She can’t be far,” Ann said.
It was settled before I had a chance to object. I did not ask for help or desire help, but now I had two helpers looking for Rhonda. I wasn’t sure if this new development would make things easier or harder. Three heads surely must be better than one, although I was already confused as to how Rhonda fit into the red suitcase dilemma and two more people might just muddy the waters even more.
“What does she have of yours?” Joy asked.
“I think she might have my red suitcase,” I replied. “She seems to be on a mission to get something and I’m hoping that my suitcase is included in her mission.”
Joy and Ann exchanged quick glances but I saw enough to realize that they thought I had lost my mind. I was following a woman who might have something of mine or not. This undertaking could be totally founded on desperate guessing on my part. In spite of their misgivings the women were here for two reasons. They were curious and they didn’t want to face Mercury boy who stalked them.
I suggested we split up but they thought that was a bad idea. We brainstormed and headed downstairs to the most logical place, the baggage compartment.
Rhonda was not there, neither was my suitcase. We began looking car by car. We checked the observation car, the dining car, and two passenger cars, but we had no luck finding Rhonda. We had almost given up and were in the last passenger car when Ann spotted her emerging from the stairwell. We stepped to the side and Rhonda strode past us, evidently still in her trance. We watched her go into the adjoining car and then we went down the stairs. We checked the open baggage rack, sorted through the suitcases, and then replaced them. There were several red ones, but mine was not there. There was a baggage compartment, or room, to the side of the stairs. The door, which was usually locked, was slightly ajar as if someone had left in a hurry. There were suitcases and duffle bags, a wheel chair, golf clubs, and a few other items, all stacked and placed neatly in order by size and color. This was not the work of one of the train employees. This room was organized by someone who liked order everywhere.
Eagerly I began going through the suitcases. Joy and Ann caught my enthusiasm and began searching in earnest. Suddenly Joy whooped, “Is this one yours?” She pointed to a red suitcase. It had no name tag but I knew it was mine. I opened it up. Everything was in place, not neatly placed, but with my kind of organization. There was also a note. I read it slowly out loud. “Dear Sir, you needed something to brighten up your life so I took the time to create a few incidents you could write about. It made my trip more enjoyable also. Maybe we will meet again. Sincerely, Martha.”
By now I was almost a believer in ghosts, but not quite. It would take more to convince me. Someone had gone to a lot of trouble to play pranks on this trip. But the enigma remained. I knew of no one who had traveled all the side trips with me and was currently on this train. There was no answer that made sense. I would have to think about the physical improbabilities another time because, for now, I had my suitcase and my trip was almost over.
Ann and Joy insisted we celebrate the recovery of my suitcase. I toted it along as we went to the lounge and I ordered wine for the three of us. We sipped the wine slowly as we conversed, and I relaxed, relieved that order had been restored. We decided to have lunch together. During that time I told them about my situation at home and how I had resolved to give my marriage another try.
“You’re doing the right thing,” Ann said. “I’m a family marriage counselor. The hardest part is getting people to make a commitment when things get tough. Give me a call if you need any help.”
Joy nodded. “I’m a secretary for a legal firm. I see people all the time who are in the process of separating or getting a divorce. Their lives are in shambles and they are bitter and angry. You don’t have that anger or bitterness. You still have hope.”
I took down their names, phone numbers, and e-mail addresses and promised I would contact them and let them know how things were going. I followed them back to their seats. We looked around, but Mercury boy was nowhere to be found. I checked with the attendant. Mercury boy had gotten off at the last stop. Another stroke of good fortune. Ann and Joy would not have to worry about him the rest of their trip.
When the train arrived in Galesburg, I got off and waited for my train to Kansas City. I rested on a bench inside the station for two hours watching people come and go. I appeared to be calm but inside there was turmoil. What would I say to my wife? Would I be nonchalant or matter-of-fact about seeing a counselor? I knew the going could get even rougher as we worked out issues that were bothering us both. I began rehearsing what I would say when I faced her.
The train arrived as scheduled and I boarded, found my seat and began writing down my thoughts regarding us. I scarcely noticed the beautiful green scenery as we sped by. As we neared Kansas City I gathered my suitcase and duffle bag and waited downstairs by the exit.
Another man stood waiting, anxious to be off the train. I asked him where he had traveled this summer. He said he was on the road a lot, working for a trucking firm. Sometimes he would take the train for fun just to visit friends and family but he was always happy to get back to familiar surroundings. We talked for a few minutes. He told me he was engaged to be married in one month to the girl of his dreams. They had met while he was playing college baseball. When his knee got damaged, their wedding plans fell apart. He didn’t think he could support a wife on a regular salary but after a few months his thinking turned around. He wanted her to be part of his life. He was afraid she had found another but she was still waiting patiently, knowing he would be back.
That was the kind of story I needed to hear. Two people willing to work things out, never giving up, always in love despite circumstances.
The train ground to a halt as it entered the station. Would somebody be waiting for me? Would this be a new beginning? I pulled my suitcase down the long runway to the waiting room. I looked around and saw strangers everywhere but no one for me. I called several numbers but no one answered. It was eleven p.m. and I wasn’t sure how long I should wait. I heard a siren go by outside so I decided to wait thirty minutes in case there was a delay due to traffic or some other problem. I waited and I waited. Finally I grew impatient and called a taxi. In minutes I was on my way. It was not what I had wanted, but at least I was heading home and I could work out any details or misunderstandings when I got there.
“Nobody came to pick you up? That’s a bad sign,” the cabbie said, trying to break the silence. “You been gone long?”
“She must have fallen asleep or maybe the car wouldn’t start.” Why was I trying to cover for her? We had two cars and if one didn’t start, the other one would. I was not in the mood to find fault with her. I had already gone through that and now I was determined to rediscover only good things. I chatted about the places I’d been and the people I’d seen but stayed away from complaining or anything negative.
The thirty minute drive home passed quickly. We entered the subdivision, wound up the hill and then down my street. At the bottom of the hill in the cul de sac and along the street were four pickups, three cars, and two large moving trucks. All the lights in my house were on. My neighbors were watching from their windows or standing outside watching the commotion. People were carrying furniture, clothes, and anything moveable to the trucks, cars, and pickups. It was dark but everything looked familiar.
“What is going on?” I thought as I walked into the house. My wife saw me and paled.
Three husky men put down the objects they were carrying and headed towards me. “You’re not welcome here, at least not right now,” one of the men said. “We’re almost finished. We’ll all be out of here in fifteen or twenty minutes.”
I was furious but I kept my temper in check. I had learned a lesson from Zeke. Violence was not the answer to this kind of problem, at least for me. Who could I contact to stop this madness?
I decided there was nothing I could do except wait. Morning would come and I would discover that this was just a bad dream. But even as I claimed it was a dream, reality was already sinking in. My marriage was over. My wife was leaving and taking everything with her.
All the trucks and cars left and I checked out the house. Everything was gone. Pictures of me, my children, and heirlooms were missing, as well as the furnishings. The house was bare, from wall to wall, except for the built-in appliances. I stumbled from room to room, checking out the damage and trying to remember what had been there. It was a task I was too tired to handle at the moment.
I needed to check out my financial state in the morning and see if anything was left. My mind raced. I needed a lawyer and I needed a counselor just for my own sanity. Things were as I had expected but not as I wanted them to be. While I was gone and playing, she was planning and getting advice. I did not believe that divorce was the answer but I could see no other choice. I was now older, but not wiser. My trip home was not triumphant and happy. I arrived to find my marriage in ruins and my house ransacked. Now I would have to start over. I was sad and miserable but not defeated. I was tough enough to restart. My life was just beginning. I still had my red suitcase, my duffle bag, and the clothes on my back. What more did I need?
The End.

OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE

- Dr. Joachim Schmidt: “We will continue this positive trend, and we expect sales in the fourth quarter to be above last year’s level.”
- Record sales in China – Schmidt: “We expect Mercedes-Benz Cars to increase its sales in China by more than 50 percent in full-year 2009.”
- Mercedes-Benz USA posts best monthly result since the beginning of the year, with sales up by 21 percent in October
- E- and S-Class sedans maintain market leadership

Stuttgart, Germany, Nov 06, 2009 – In October, global sales were up at Mercedes-Benz for the first time this year. Mercedes-Benz was able to increase sales significantly in October by seven percent to 88,400 units (October 2008: 82,500. The smart brand sold 9,300 (October 2008: 11,300) units (minus 18 percent). With the delivery of 97,700 passenger cars (October 2008: 93,800), total sales at Mercedes-Benz Cars increased by four percent. The October sales increase was due to the E-Class and the new generation of the S-Class as well as to high growth rates in many regions such as North America and Asia/Pacific. Sales of Mercedes-Benz vehicles were also above last year’s level in Western Europe.

“We will continue this positive trend in the coming months, and we expect sales in the fourth quarter to be above the level of the same period of last year,” said Dr. Joachim Schmidt, Head of Sales and Marketing, Mercedes-Benz Cars. Contributing to this development will be the new E-Class and the new generation S-Class, as well as the ongoing strong growth rates in the Asia/Pacific region, particularly in China. By the end of September, Mercedes-Benz had already sold more vehicles in China than in all of last year. Says Schmidt: “Mercedes-Benz Cars will continue to grow at a dynamic rate in China, and we expect the increase for 2009 as a whole to amount to more than 50 percent.”

In October Mercedes-Benz once again set a sales record in China, with sales rising by 78 percent to 6,600 units (October 2008: 3,700). As a result, since the start of the year, Mercedes-Benz has been the fastest-growing premium brand in China. In October, Mercedes-Benz Cars also delivered more vehicles than ever before to the Asia/Pacific region as a whole, handing over 14,100 passenger vehicles to customers (October 2008: 10,500) for an increase of 34 percent. High growth rates were also posted in October in Australia (up 22 percent) and South Korea (up 63 percent).

In the United States, October was the best month of the year so far for Mercedes-Benz. Sales bucked the general market trend, rising by 21 percentto 18,200 units (October 2008: 15,000). This was the first time this year that sales were substantially higher than in 2008, and ensured that Mercedes-Benz remains the strongest German premium brand in the U.S. Contributing factors here included the E-Class, deliveries of which tripled to 6,100 units, and the GLK, which was once again the best-selling vehicle in its class in October, with deliveries of 1,800 units. Meanwhile, Mercedes-Benz posted another sales record in Canada in October, increasing customer deliveries by 28 percent to 2,200 passenger vehicles (October 2008: 1,700).

In the Western Europe region (not including Germany), Mercedes-Benz increased its sales by seven percent in October, thanks in particular to the high increases for the new E-Class. The brand enjoyed strong growth amounting to 55 percent in the UK, with a total of 5,800 units sold.

Sales of new E-Class continued to develop positively in the past month, with worldwide deliveries doubling in October to 17,100 units. Double-digit sales increases were registered in almost all markets. That made it once again the clear market leader in its segment. The company expects the launch of the new station wagon, which can be seen at dealerships starting on November 21, to give an additional positive boost to the E-Class family.

The new generation of the S-Class also got off to a successful start. Worldwide sales of the S-Class sedan were slightly above the previous year's level. Since the beginning of this year, the sedan has been the best-selling sedan in its segment. In China, which is now the biggest market for the S-Class, 1,100 luxury sedans were delivered to customers in October alone, which represents an increase of 12 percent. The sedan also sold very well in Germany, with an increase of 42 percent, and in Japan, where October sales increased by 13 percent. Mercedes-Benz sold 15,100 units of its SUVs worldwide (2008: 14,800), with an increase of two percent. The GLK, which was especially popular, enjoyed mainly double-digit growth rates in the Western European markets.

For 2010 the Legacy looks more aggressive and sporty. The headlights are angled more, the character lines create a more muscular look, along with bigger wheel arches. The Legacy has a more modern, mainstream, Japanese appearance. It will be more competitive in the midsize sedan segment, but it's aggressive styling wouldn't look at home in a forest carrying mountain bikes like the old Legacy did.

While the exterior doesn't give thoughts of the usual Subaru activities of hiking and kayaking, the interior gives impressions of a more mainstream midsize sedan at home in mall parking lots. Comfortably designed for the driver and passenger with easy to use controls, soft cream leather seats, and class leading passenger space. Steering wheel controls are standard on the 2.5i Limited are well laid out and easy for the driver to use. Subaru's shortcomings in quality with their use of hard plastic, flimsy door panels, and cheap wood trim left me disappointed, while the previous generation Legacy excelled in quality.

Subaru has used it's new Lineartronic CVT transmission in the new Legacy. It provides a very smooth drive with gearshifts that are as smooth as a hot knife through butter. The paddle shifters are possibly the easiest I've ever used for manual shifting and coupled with the CVT provide a smooth ride. The base 2.5 liter engine feels very underpowered. Subaru's have been known to have a tighter suspension and this Legacy is completely different. The drive feels more like an everyday sedan focused more on driver comfort than a Subaru has ever been. Everyday driving is more polished and tranquilizing than the previous generation Legacy. I took the Legacy through some winding country roads where Subarus usually shine, and was very surprised. Clumsiness and body roll plagued the Legacy like an old woman without her walker. The 2.5 liter 170 hp engine made the Legacy feel underpowered and heavy. The other two optional 256 or 265 hp engines would make the Legacy feel more capable for everyday driving. Even with Subaru's all wheel drive system it felt as though it lacked Subaru's willingness to go off road, instead focusing on a smooth and comfortable drive for those city folk.

The redesigned Legacy is a Subaru aimed more towards a mainstream market. It's comfortable ride and cabin make for a pleasing highway and city drive. Aggressive styling coupled with it's soft ride may scare away some loyal Subaru owners and attract a different buyer. The Legacy lacks what makes Subaru a Subaru. It has evolved into a mainstream car, one that won't be found driving through dirt trails or going on camping trips, instead will be at home on highways and city streets.

Peruvian authorities have no control over large areas of the country and have allowed illegal gold mining activities to destroy thousands of acres of rainforest in the Madre de Dios region, experts said at a conference in capital Lima.

“Tens of thousands of people [involved in illegal gold mining] have destroyed 150,000ha in Madre de Dios where 40,000kg of mercury is dumped into the environment annually. Nothing is ever going to grow there again and nobody says anything,” said Fernando Rospigliosi, head of consulting company Human and Social Capital and the country’s former interior minister.

The individuals involved in the industry are armed and go about their daily activities without any interference from environmental organizations or authorities, according to Rospigliosi. In fact, the industry is the main economic activity in cities like regional capital Puerto Maldonado, he said.

Officials from the Peruvian society of mining, petroleum and energy have complained repeatedly that there is an absolute lack of government control over these activities which include the hiring of minors and the dumping of mercury into bodies of water.

Deputy mining minister Fernando Gala said it is impossible for the ministry to address the problems in Madre de Dios alone. “The issue of Madre de Dios has to do with totally informal mining so it must be dealt with by all sectors,” Gala said.

“The first step is to formalize these activities but that requires resources. The ministry is working on two projects on informal mining as well as on an agreement with the UN. The ministry is also opening local offices to support regional governments in the search for a solution to the problem,” said Gala.

The solution must consist of an expansive plan to be coordinated by all ministries, Gala added.

“That is a typical bureaucratic reply. Everybody throws the ball into the other court,” Rospigliosi told BNamericas, adding: “This confirms that the government is not doing what it is supposed to do and as the [regional] elections of 2010 and [presidential] elections of 2011 get closer it will do less.”

Rather than corruption, the lack of government control is mainly due to authorities’ fear of tackling difficult issues and consequently losing their jobs, according to Rospigliosi.

Authorities were speaking at a congress on mining, hydrocarbons and electricity legislation held in Peruvian capital Lima from November 12-13, 2009.

Crawling Sensations, Fibers and Other Noted Morgellons Syndrome Symptoms: Another Theory for Suffere

Crawling Sensations, Fibers and Other Noted Morgellons Syndrome Symptoms: Another Theory for Sufferers to Consider
Joseph Keleher

I am not a medical professional. Let me repeat that. I am not, never have been and have no desire to ever become a medical professional. I might best be labeled a reluctant participant, as I suffered from Morgellons Syndrome Symptoms.

I have done my best to document what I went through (see Keleher 2008 “Hell and Back Again”). I wrote about connections to mercury and these horrific symptoms. I’ve angered medical professionals and sufferers. I’ve lost some old friends. I’ve found some new friends. I’ve written, emailed, and spoke on the phone with others who suffer. I’ve cried a bunch and still do (I don’t exactly know why).

I know it is possible to get well. I know what I suffered from and what I think most are suffering from is mercury as a neurotoxin. It is treatable with chelation and changes in lifestyle.

What I share are my thoughts. Yes, it is speculation. It is theory related to symptoms I had and you may still have. In reading be warned there are many “I think”s and “I believe”s. It’s all theory; it may be right or it may be wrong. Still, I feel compelled to share.

The Cause

I believe the recent growing numbers of those suffering from Morgellons symptoms is due to two ingredients- toluene and mercury.

Toluene is found in glues, methamphetamines and cocaine. I believe the toluene found in dental adhesives, and connected to symptoms by Dr. Omar Amin, correlate with a surge of sufferers of these symptoms (and possibly via prenatal passage the exponentially growing number of children with autism, ADD and ADHD).

I think toulene interacts with mercury to allow passage of this toxin into the nervous system. Toluene may dissipate after carrying mercury into the system leaving deposits of mercury. The primary source of mercury in the mouth (though there are other sources causing mercury increases including some skin creams, coal burning power plants, and historic mining activities) decreases as secondary deposits in the nerves increase.

The associated symptoms of this neurotoxin can be viewed as occurring in stages with new symptoms added as secondary deposits increase. The stages, based partly on my own experience, but also drawing from the experience of many others, might look like: 1) depression and panic attacks (typical symptoms of neurotransmitter blockage), 2) bloating, heart palpitations, and exhaustion, 3) crawling sensations, 4) fibers and skin lesions….and so on.

All of the symptoms noted with Morgellons, except crawling sensations and fibers, have been shown to be associated with mercury poisoning; because of this, I want to share how I think these two symptoms form.

Crawling Sensations

In the earliest onset of the “bugs”, I had faint flea-like zips across my scalp. I believe this was mercury pathways forming within the nerve cell network under my skin.

As the secondary levels of mercury increased, the sensations of crawling began. My crawling always started each night at the rear, right occipital area of my scalp (in journaling, at that time, I referred to the spot on my scalp as the “Mother Ship”); this area correlates with the low spot of my skull when resting (I have a preference for sleeping on my right with my head cocked back). The extreme density of mercury I believe was pooling.

Crawling typically began as the sun was setting and there was a change in temperature. Within weeks, the crawling expanded to my groin and bottom of my feet. Eventually my whole body had the sensations. It was during this time that I was diagnosed with sheet mites and scabies (and found out about something called Morgellons).

I believe as levels of mercury further increased, the crawling became more pronounced and expanded throughout my body. The sensation was especially disturbing when it began in my ear canals and nostrils.

I think the crawling is due to the expansion and contracting of mercury within the network of nerves. I picture it as one spider-shaped cell after another filling and twitching as mercury moves through (causing a kind of “cartoon effect” movement); one sufferer described this observed movement as certain proof of parasitic infestation. I still get a faint twitch occasionally at the base of my feet (but it feels different and I suspect it relates to nerve repairs and not mercurial movement).

If the Morgellons symptoms occur in stages related to increases in mercury, then I arrived at one of the middle stages. I never found fibers projecting from my skin or had any lesions. I’m thankful for this.

Fibers

I think the fibers are the result of repeated cell damage repairs from mercury expansion and contrasting through the nerve system. A weak spot may have mercury break through and this will “scab” over. The fibers eventually poke through as they have nowhere else to go.

Final Words

I know there are many theories out there. Mine is one among many. Take it as such.

Morgellons is an especially cruel condition. In addition to the symptoms, the medical community has not been especially kind. The sensationalism of the media doesn’t help. Isolation and lose of connections to other people is difficult. There is one thing though that especially irritates me; I cannot stand that there are people taking advantage of the vulnerability of many sufferers. For those snake oil sales people making money off this condition, someday you will get yours; it is true what we do to others we do to ourselves.

For those suffering, be careful of the sharks, keep faith that answers will come soon, and always, always keep an “attitude of gratitude” for all you have. You are not alone and things will get better! I wish each and ever one of you a clear path towards health.

Thank you so much Joseph for another excellent and thought provoking article. Your thoughts really make me wonder if the NAC I take is a major player in my feeling better? Here are two other excellent articles written by Joseph that the reader might also want to examine.

Bloc Party

Rumors of Bloc Party splitting or going on a break have been echoing around for the past couple of months now, with drummer Matt Tong hinting he may not work with the band ever again. But these rumor have pretty much been comfirmed by front man Kele Okereke revealing he is set to work on a solo album, collabarating with Hudson Mohawke.

Bloc Party have been a big part of my life over the past five years,They are one of my fav bands, I have bought and loved all three of their albums, and having enjoyed watching them grow and evolve over this length of time it will be sad to see them go or even not be around for a significant length of time. I will miss their ’screw you’ attitude to mainstream Indie, with songs like Mercury and Zephyrus and also their ability to make absolute anthems like SRXT, Also Indie classics like Banquet and Helicopter. I really can’t praise their music enough, I love every song they’ve made…ever!

They finished Touring at the end of October just there, with their last gig in Bournemouth (Matt’s hometown) where Kele comfirmed this is “our final show for the foreseeable future”. Finishing off the gig with She’s Hearing Voices, the song that started it all.

I suppose if this is the end of Bloc Party they had a fucking good run, with probably the best debut album I’ve ever heard with Silent Alarm, a great follow up in Weekend in the City and finally Intimacy. Three great albums packed full of great material.

But it may not be the end, we are still to hear if 2009 is a full stop in the story of Bloc Party or just a comma, I certainly hope its the comma.

“Keep the Faith” – Matt Tong, 31st Oct 2009 Bournemouth.

Now I’m here

Jupiter the giant ruler of Sagittarius

In the Western zodiac, the month of November is often one of change: the early part of the month is ruled by powerful Scorpio, the life-and-death sign with a sting in its tail. It is an ancient symbol of huge changes and upheaval – fixed water, or ice – and almost totally unforgiving. If you’re not ready now, November will make you question everything you’ve ever been taught, heard or assumed was real.

This year the heavy burden of change in earth’s systems, world governments and weather patterns is sometimes laid at Scorpio’s door. But a much greater force was at work: Saturn, the great planet of sidereal change, slowly and inexorably moved out of the communicative and meticulously-ordered earth-sign of Virgo, where he has ruled, written in stone, made careful lists and acted in a predictable manner for the last three years. On October 29th 2009, he entered Libra, the zodiac sign of partnerships, cooperative ventures, balance and – above all – change.

Changes at the end of the year are expected as we in the Northern hemisphere descend into winter; but Saturn’s influence is huge. Just as the moon affects earth’s ocean tides, the ringed giant’s great orb reaches from its distant position in the sixth solar orbit to touch and move this little world of ours in the third planetary belt round the sun.

At the beginning of November this huge astrological catalyst of change had already joined forces with the sun in Scorpio and world mayhem, freak weather systems, and cultural upheaval were apparent: floods, tsunamis and out-of-season storms added to wars and conflict, famine and a breakdown in communications in both Old and New worlds. We are only now recovering from the effects of drought and starvation in some African regions and deluge and homeless scenarios in the North.

Saturn the planet of change and upheaval

Saturn’s move to Libra affects physical, mental, emotional realms. We were being given a nudge of giant proportions to move out of our physical, earthbound concepts and into the spiritual.

It is a surprise and relief when, following the double Scorpionic portion dished out to us in mid-November by the New Moon, that Saturn’s new position in Libra should be accentuated by the sun’s transition on November 22nd into jovial Sagittarius. This zodiac sign is ruled by abundant Jupiter. It allows us a respite, a time to remember our place on the planet, our blessings, our way forward. But it, too, heralds change.

Sagittarius is a fire sign, sent to melt the icy waters Scorpio dragged in with its lethal tail. The archer, sunny of disposition and sending arrows presaging abundant flow to come, allows the glow of Thanksgiving and a glimpse towards the festivities of midwinter, but he reminds us that more work is round the corner as we are moving into a New Age. It helps to know, however that his ruler, Jupiter presently stands with Neptune, the planet of change and the spiritual, the mystical and unknown in forward-looking Aquarius; so our path, while difficult, is overseen by angels.

A trusted astrologer friend says:
“November 22-30: This is a highly creative time. Pay attention and focus on the little signs. Push the boundaries of what you perceive possible. Stretch your imagination. Resist the temptations of the status quo. Ask the right questions, ‘why not’ and ‘what if’. Be brave.

“Mostly just be in your own spirit, take time to meditate, try to remember that the Universe is ordering things in right timing; that in moving from a place of trusting, your own ability and power to create will open up. Spend time with others you like to be around and keep cutting clutter and non-essentials from your life.”

As the month draws to a close, we are being challenged to seek even greater clarity and depth of meaning in life, in our relationships, in our day-to-day interaction with others, work colleagues, family and strangers alike, so that we start to evolve in spiritual understanding of our place on this special planet Earth.

And at month-end, as we move into December, Mercury aspects challenge us to release stress and restore clarity of thinking. Mercury the messenger and communicator-par-excellence may get us through the hard part.

December begins with a powerful double-whammy: a Full Moon in Gemini on December 1st coincides with giant Uranus’ turning direct.

Changes and new directions are on the cards – in spades.

But we have help. Angels and giants are around to help us through.

This is an occasional astrological blog posting, as we move through the year. I am aware that many are familiar with the Western zodiac and its implications. However I hope to encourage a friend who understands the ramifications of the Vedic astrological system of the Indian sub-continent to join me in the next blog post. It is a fascinating system, with many parallels with Western and even Chinese texts. I think it will be something to look forward to.

Electromagnetic pollution: A New Public Health Issue.

The question of what constitutes safe levels of electromagnetic emissions continues to generate debate within the scientific community. It is clear, however, that an increased amount of research bears evidence of EM pollution contributing to a heightened level of stress-related conditions and environmentally triggered diseases such as cancer, diabetes and multiple sclerosis.

What is Electrohypersensitivity

Electrohypersensitivity or EHS is a physiological condition. It is characterized by neurological and immunological symptoms that noticeably flare or intensify upon, or following expose to:

electric and magnetic fields (EMF)

one or more of the types of electromagnetic radiation (EMR) found in the modern environment

Having Electromagnetic Field Sensitivity means experiencing recurring stress or illness when near active EMF sources or emitters of EMR. Symptoms normally diminish with distance from these sources but typically require considerable time to vanish after exposure. The World Health Organization identifies this collection of symptoms and triggers as Electrohypersensitivity, often referred to as Electrosensitivity. It is not recognized as a medical diagnosis. However, it is accepted as a functional impairment in Sweden and the Canadian Human Rights Commission recognizes it as an environmental sensitivity and classifies it as a disability.

Common Symptoms

Concentration problems

Memory lapses

Aches or pressure in head, throat and chest

Unsteady balance, dizziness

Altered heart rate

Ringing in the ears

Excessive fatigue

Numbness or pain in affected areas

Sleep disturbances

Eye irritation

Red skin blotches, eczema

What is Electrohypersensitivity or EHS?

In addition to numerous other health problems, electromagnetic pollution has been associated with an increase in the number of individuals suffering from a condition known as electrohypersensitivity (EHS). EHS is defined by the World Health Organization as: “…a phenomenon where individuals experience adverse health effects while in the vicinity of devices emanating electric, magnetic, or electromagnetic fields.”

In Sweden, it is classified as a disability and health care facilities with low levels of exposure to electromagnetic fields and radiofrequency radiation are available. The Canadian Human Rights Commission report also acknowledges environmental sensitivity attributed to electromagnetic exposure. (28) Researchers estimate that approximately 3% of the population has severe symptoms of EHS, and another 35% of the population has moderate symptoms such as an impaired immune system and chronic illness (Havas, 2007).

SYMPTOMS OF EHS

The biological effects from exposure to EMF/EMR include both adverse health effects and loss of homeostasis and well-being. Symptoms vary from patient to patient depending on their physical biology and exposure intensity and duration. Symptoms quickly improve when away from EMF/EMR sources, particularly when the patient moves away from computers, fluorescent lighting, transformers, wireless antenna, cell and cordless phones, appliances and out of proximity to cell phone towers, electrical substations and power lines. All these are potential sources of higher than normal EMF/EMR exposure. Symptoms recur on returning to the irradiated environment. Over time, sensitivity is increased to smaller and smaller EMF/EMR exposures. (Sage, 2001)

I realize these things are probably actually very hard to prove or actually link to EMF exposure …

LIVING WITH ELECTROHYPERSENSITIVITY

A Survival Guide, by: Susan Parsons

Human beings are bioelectrical systems. Our hearts and brains are regulated by internal bioelectrical signals. Environmental exposures to artificial EMFs can interact with fundamental biological processes in the human body.
(Sage, 2007)

We are living in an increasingly complex electrical environment and are inundated daily with electromagnetic frequencies ranging from less than 20 Hz (electric trains) to greater than 1 billion Hz (wireless telecommunication). Most of these frequencies are man-made and were not present until the invention and subsequent commercialization of electricity (early 1900s), radio (1920s), radar (1940s), television (1950s), computers (1970s), and cell phones (1980s). Whether, and at what intensities, these frequencies have biological effects has been a subject of scientific debate for decades. (Havas & Stetzer, 2004)

Early recognition, avoidance of symptom-triggering agents, environmental control, treatments that may reduce residual toxins and recovery of normal biological processes are key to regaining health for people with sensitivities. Without mitigation of the incitant, people with environmental sensitivities may become severely debilitated.
(Sears, 2007)

In today’s world, everyone is exposed to two types of EMFs:
1. Extremely low frequency electromagnetic fields (ELF) from electrical and electronic appliances and power lines
2. Radiofrequency radiation (RF) from wireless devices such as cell phones and cordless phones, cellular
antennas and towers, and broadcast transmission towers. (Sage, 2007)

See the rest of this page HERE … (very, very interesting !!)

Summary

The page above even talks about mercury, our mercury fillings, and there interaction with EMF. Amazingly, the protocol they recommend is very similar to a protocol for Morgellons. In fact, the reason I found this site was that my Google search turned up a post where somebody was making a pretty remarkable comparison between Morgellons and WEEP.

One wonders if the tiny micro-thin fibers than once formed a lattice under my skin were picking up all this EMF. It certainly would explain all of the crawling sensations we feel around computers, carpet (static electricity) and so on. I realize that “Morgellons like symptoms” pre-date all this massive EMF pollution that we have today, but it could help explain the massive increase in numbers of those suffering from it. Just another interesting line of questioning.

Perhaps what this really reveals is just another avenue into the destruction of our Terrain. Electronic EMF Pollution, Industrial Pollution, GMO Pharming, Pesticides, Acidic Western Diet, Lack of Minerals and Vitamins, Overuse of Pharmaceuticals and so on gathering together and creating the perfect storm resulting in the destruction of the human body.

And finally, and interesting quote regarding the skin from the WEEP site …

The skin is the largest most important eliminative organ in the body and is responsible for one quarter of the body’s detoxification each day

The skin eliminates over one pound of waste acids each day in the average adult, most of it through the sweat glands

That the skin is known also as our third kidney

That the skin receives one third of all the blood circulated in the body

Imponerande. Tävlingen från 2006 hittar du här:

Been really hard to find any inspiration today for something to write.
For the first time in a long while Monday has been very dull and eventless…crap.
Well maybe it is because of the weather, only rain, wetness and cold winds, isnt it really time for some snow or something right about now?
I miss the good old winters with tons of snow, that really gave both the coy winter mood but also a sense of christmas feeling.
I love to play this timeless Queen song ” A Winter’s Tale“, it really tells quite a different ‘winter’s tale’, because partly there is no mention of snow or christmassy stuff, but then again it sounds very warm and fuzzy, almost romantic in my ears, especially at 1: 45 where the guitar solo starts…if I close my eyes I can just see infront of me a romantic dance with a beautiful woman infront of a fireplace.

Feels like it’s time for a new poem soon?
Maybe this lack of inspiration, grief, boredom and longing is the material I need?

Im planning on getting one of my ears pierced, been a thought lingering for a while now.
I really would like to have a cool tribal earring, they look pretty cool.
What do you think, do you think I’d fit with one of these?
Xmas gift maybe?

There has been much controversy lately over the mercury content of fluorescent tubes and CFLs. Many people are still unsure about how to dispose of redundant luminaires safely. Following all the discussions on the safe disposal of fluorescent tubes and CFLs, I have attached a sketch of a fluorescent tube breaker that we fabricated for the safe disposal of used tubes. The pipe that the fluorescent tube slide down can be a piece of 50 mm pipe with the screwed end at the top so that a pipe cap can be used to close it when not in use – or a plug can be used. This pipe must be of adequate length so that when the tube is broken in the drum there is no chance of it shattering outside the pipe… (more)

Saturday, it was announced that Rolls Royce would be joining Volvo in making HD radio a standard com

Saturday, it was announced that Rolls Royce would be joining Volvo in making HD radio a standard component across all its lines for 2010! This comes quick on the heels of an announcement from Mercedes-Benz that HD will be in all its 2010 models that have “premium feature packages.” Looks like HD has locked on with the luxury car aficionados!

That is one heck of a brand association. Rolls Royce has been known for refinement and luxury since before World War II. It is a name that has stood the test of time and retained its noble bearing throughout. The Phantom, for example, is to cars as a tuxedo-clad James Bond is to espionage (the Sean Connery Bond). To have HD radio become a standard firmly affixes the growing medium in the luxury market and the luxury mindset.

Here is the statement from iBiquity via Radio Ink:

“We are proud to confirm the availability of HD Radio technology for yet another prestigious brand — Rolls-Royce,” iBiquity COO Jeff Jury said. “The Rolls-Royce brand is revered. This commitment to HD Radio technology as standard illustrates how digital radio’s dynamic function enhances the in-car ambiance. The addition of Rolls-Royce to the HD Radio roster truly solidifies the technology’s stature in the luxury automotive class.”

Rolls Royce joins an array of other car makers in offering HD either as a standard or an option: BMW, Hyundai, Jaguar, Mercedes, Mini, Scion, Land Rover and Volvo. In addition, Audi, Ford, Kia, Lincoln and Mercury are soon to join their ranks and have committed to offering HD as well. Now that approximately 85% of the US is covered by HD signals, it looks like it could be a great time for a road trip!

It’s really fun watching a medium grow up. There are always growing pains, but the process always seems to yield fascinating results. As each quarter slips by, we see more maturity in the HD radio platform. Not only are the high-end auto makers adding it in as a standard, but there is now a HD listening option for the iPhone. (See my earlier post.) The times are certainly changing, and as far as HD is concerned, changing for the better!

CDC: H1N1 cases decrease as vaccine availability increases Atlanta, Georgia (CNN) — Health off

CDC: H1N1 cases decrease as vaccine availability increases

Atlanta, Georgia (CNN) — Health officials on Friday reported a slight decrease in H1N1 flu activity nationwide.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said 43 states now have widespread flu activity, compared with 46 states last week and 48 states at the beginning of November.

“It’s still much greater than we would ever see at this time of year,” Dr. Anne Schuchat, director of the CDC’s National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases, said in a news conference.

Schuchat added that while some parts of the country are seeing a small decline in flu cases, other areas, including Maine and Hawaii, have seen a bit of a surge.

It’s too early to know if the worst is over in terms of the flu season, she said.

“Even though we saw a little bit of a decrease this week, it is still higher than the peak activity in many years,” she said.

Flu season doesn’t usually start until December. But when the H1N1 virus emerged in April, the spread of the flu never stopped, effectively stretching last year’s flu season into the new one.

The CDC also said 21 more deaths from H1N1 in children were reported in the past week, bringing the official toll of confirmed pediatric H1N1 deaths in the United States to 171.

Schuchat said the number doesn’t reflect the true picture.

“We believe the estimates we provided last week give a better picture of the full toll that the virus has taken in the first six months of the pandemic,” she said. Last week the CDC reported that it estimated 540 children had died from complications of this flu virus so far.

In an effort to limit further spread of the virus as millions of Americans begin traveling for the holidays, the CDC has launched a public awareness campaign.

Schuchat urged everyone to take simple precautions.

“Travel only when you are well,” she told reporters. “Wash your hands often. … Cover your cough and sneeze with tissues or with your sleeve. … And get vaccinated against flu, particularly if you’re in a targeted population.”

Watch why Santa wants a flu shot

More people will be able to get vaccinated, according to the CDC, because more vaccine continues to be available.

States have been able to order a total of 54.1 million doses of H1N1 vaccine so far, Schuchat said.

“That number is 11 million doses more than we were at a week ago.”

In response to a report from Norway that a couple of people died from a mutated form of the H1N1 virus, Schuchat said the CDC is aware that the mutated form had been identified, but that H1N1 vaccine and antiviral medications still are effective against H1N1.

Some cases of H1N1 that show resistance to the antiviral Tamiflu have been identified in North Carolina and Wales. But Schuchat said Tamiflu-resistant influenza viruses have been “quite rare” so far.

Tamiflu doesn’t cure the flu, but can reduce symptom severity and duration of illness by about a day if taken within the first day or two of getting sick.
