From what I gathered from my Twitter feed over the weekend, everybody seems to be talking about the ACTA and how everybody seems pissed off by it. It would also seem that for once I got on the band wagon early because my cohosts and I discussed this in the middle of last week while we were recording the snow. There were a few other things we talked about but it seems that this is the one that people are the most concerned about, it makes me think that the segment concerning the ACTA should have been bumped up a couple of slots to the feature instead of the WTF of the week. I could use this space to discuss the ACTA at further length, but I feel there is nothing more I can say on the matter that hasn’t already been said. That and today has me feeling a bit tired.

I may or may not make this whole matter next weeks feature to shed some more light on it if people are still talking about it next week when I record. I agree, it is an important matter, but I won’t give said matter any more coverage if the short attention span of the average internet user and podcast listener has found something else to be concerned about.

I could also use this space to talk about NaNoWriMo, but after the first week I’m sure those of you who aren’t participating are tired of hearing about it. So if you care to see how I’m faring I encourage you to visit my writer blog

It’s been too long since I posted my last entry and I wanted to share what I’ve been wat

It’s been too long since I posted my last entry and I wanted to share what I’ve been watching, reading, and listening too. Lets start with the books.

Two weeks or so back I headed out to the local Barnes and Noble to pick up some books off my wishlist. I ended up picking up Infected in paperback by Scott Sigler which I haven’t read but I listened to via podio-book and it was great! I wanted to pick up Contagious too but they’d have had to order it but I don’t get to the Barnes and Noble nearly enough to ask them to order it. I picked up the first two books in the Dresden Files series by Jim Butcher. I had heard a lot about them but never got around to reading them. I’ll start on them once I’m done reading Personal Effects: Dark Art by J.C. Hutchins which I have to say is awesome! That’s it for my books. On to what I’ve been watching.

So I know I’m late on this one but I just finished Firefly and Serenity. So now I know what all the outrage was about when it was canceled. The first time I watched it I saw what I thought was the first episode “The Train Job” and not much made sense. It didn’t catch me at that time but the local comic shop owner told me to look up the episode order on wikipedia and give it a second chance. I was happy to see Hulu had them in their correct order and I LOVED the show. I would expect no less from Joss! I am now one of them, you know. the people wishing it would be brought back. Hell I even bought copies of firefly which is a big deal seeing as torrents are so much easier and well.. free.

As for podcasts. Metamor City is officially done for the summer. The story was over quiet a bit ago but Chris was still working on his final Feedback shows which are just as entertaining as the actual story! I’ve been keeping up on J.C. Hutchins’ Personal Effects: Sword of Blood which is the prequel to dark art and it is just as enthralling at the book. Lastly I’ve been keeping up on Down From Ten by J. Daniel Sawyer which I am hooked on.

I’ll probably go a bit more in depth on some of these in future reviews. I also just realized I don’t think I’d done a review on Infected or Contagious which is horrible of me seeing as they’re so awesome. More coming soon! Till then

Okay, so I’ve decided to put another update on here today, wow too in the one day, I must be getting better at this whole social media stuff

Whilst listening to the Metamor City podcast, (http://www.metamorcity.com)- Chris Lester tells a brilliant story over there by the way, well worth a look!

I responded to one of the promos in there from Mur Lafferty (http://www.murverse.com) for her “I Should Be Writing” podcast (http://murverse.com/category/projects/podcasts/i-should-be-writing/) and it got me writing again. The idea behind Mur’s podcast is basically to tell everyone to KEEP WRITING, irrespective of Job/Money/Life and also leaves the message behind that most writers don’t write for a living and still hold a ‘normal’ job out there, she also does a few interviews with other authors for the podcast(there are loads of eps I’ve not listened to yet though).

Not since 1996 had I worked on my story about the Land of Maur and the Plague from the mines of Sercheti ~2769 words so far and so I was very happy for the quick kick up the bum to make it happen again. It is still difficult to write every day, but I do my best not to let it slip for too long. If you ever even thought about writing, its worth listening there

As I said on the last post I am new to the world of podcasts but I’ve been diving in and found podiobooks. This post I wanna talk about the second podiobook that I am hooked on. Metamor City is a podiobook by Chris Lester. It consistences of a few short stories to get you a bit more comfortable in the world of metamor then he starts his first novel entitled Making the cut. It’s a story still playing itself out and right now it’s at chapter 28. The story behind making the cut centers around a psi named Daniel and his life within the collective. This story will keep you on the edge of your seat and wanting more. Unlike The Leviathan Chronicles which is a Sci Fi adventure set in present day, Metamor City is a fantasy setting where high technology and magic coexist. Following is the trailer the site provides! The first 4 or 5 Episodes do NOT have a full audio cast but he quickly fixes that afterwards with a wonderful cast. I could not find an official synopsis for this podcast maybe once the author reads this review he’ll send me one. Seriously people if you like fantasy or sci fi give this amazing podiobook a chance. You will NOT be sorry!

Spending the day out with friends today and catching up with my latest addiction, the Metamor City podcast by Chris Lester.

Just a *teeny* plug: I began listening almost a year ago, Life got busy, and I stopped for a while. Now that I’ve returned to the podcast I anticipate hearing the next chapter of the story more and more. The writing is extremely engaging, imaginative and prolific. I’ve been listening to them in 3-4 episode blocks (while driving, at work or just working arond the house) and I’m ready for more of the good stuff. Kudos to Chris Lester (and his amazing cast of voice actors) for developing such a delightful experience…even if I am on a year’s delay

I’m not trying to cop out of this, I barely even want to accept my own apology and the excuses I gave. I promise you listeners that episode three will be better, I promise.
PG Holyfield creator of the fantastic Murder At Avedon Hill podcast has said he will give us a plug in the latest episode due to drop on 23rd April or there abouts. If you haven’t tried Murder At Avedon Hill I cannot recommend it highly enough. It is a Murder Mystery set in the fantasy world of Caern. There are vampires, moonbeasts and allsorts thrown into the mix. The podcast is beautifully crafted with a fantastic cast of voice actors and music from Shira Kammen to give it a truly classy feel. You can find out more here.

I would also like to thank Chris Lester of the Metamor City podcast for giving us further pluggage in his last episode.
