Alkan er eit hydrokarbon utan nokon funksjonell gruppe. Det er rett og slett ei metta karbonkjede med hydrogenatom, eit metta hydrokarbon.
Alkana er lite reaktive. Mellom anna reagerer alkana med O2 først ved 400-500 grader celsius!

Når alkana først brenn, så skjer det ein fullstendig forbrenningsreaksjon, det vil sei at verken CO(g) eller C(s) blir danna. Sidan C(s) ikkje blir danna, brenn alkan med klar flamme, vel og merke når det er overskot av oksygen.

Dersom temperaturen er høg eller vi har UV-lys som lyser mot løysinga kan vi riktignok få alkanet til å reagere med andre stoff. Vi kan mellom anna bytte ut enkelte hydrogen-atom med halogen som klor og brom. Dette skjer ved ein substitusjonsreaksjon.

For å illustrere kva som skjer i ein slik reaksjon skriv eg no ned likninga for reaksjonen mellom metan og brom.

CH4(l) + Br2(l) -> CH3Br(l) + HBr(l)

Deretter kan CH3Br reagere vidare med Br2 til CH2Br2, CHBr3 og CHBr4.

Dette tar derimot tid, så for å substituere eit hydrogenatom i C6H14(heksan) med eit brom-atom til C6H13Br, så tar det opp til 16-17 timar når vi berre har rundt 20-30 mL C6H14.

Det nye halogenerte alkanet er i motsetning til alkanet reaktivt. Derfor kan vi bruke det nye stoffet til å danne andre stoff.

Kilka krótki informacji:

Metan wytwarzają bakterie w procesie beztlenowego rozkładu materii organicznej.

Dziś proces ten można  zaobserwować  na bagnach – pęcherzyki gazu, które wydobywają się na powierzchnię, to właśnie metan. Aby powstały hydraty (czyli tzw. klatraty) , musi być dostarczona odpowiednia ilość wody oraz metanu- powstała w ten sposób mieszanka (wodno- gazowa) musi zamarznąć i to pod wysokim ciśnieniem – bowiem tylko wtedy lód krystalizuje w układzie regularnym, tworząc symetryczne “klatki” (-> patrz rysunek obok), w których mogą zostać zamknięte cząsteczki metanu.

Mimo że klatraty teoretycznie mogą tworzyć się prawie wszędzie, to w praktyce największe złoża odkryto: w oceanach, na stokach kontynentalnych i na ladzie (min. w nieckach osadowych wiecznej zmarzliny). Warto przy tej okazji zaznaczyć, że jak dotąd nie znaleziono większej ilości hydratów na otwartym oceanie, z dala od lądu. Głębie Oceaniczne są po prostu zbyt ubogie w materię organiczną, by bakterie metanowe znalazły tam dobre warunki do życia.

Hydraty wyglądem przypominają lód, w odróżnieniu jednak od prawdziwego lodu, nie są zimne, a są za to  łatwopalne- “lód” pali się czerwonym płomieniem, zostawiając po sobie kałużę “wody”. “Kałuża” ta jest skoncentrowanym paliwem – proszę sobie wyobrazić, że z 1 m3 hydratu, po rozpadzie powstaje aż 164 m3 metanu. Hydraty są więc ogromnym nośnikiem energetycznym, a ich wartość energetyczna jest wyższa nawet od węgla kamiennego czy też od ropy naftowej.

“Szansa energetyczna”:

Jak już wspomniałem wcześniej, wartość energetyczna hydratów jest wyższa od węgla kamiennego czy też od ropy. Przypuszcza się, że wartość ta zbliżona jest do wartości LNG, czyli skroplonego gazu ziemnego. I to nie wszystko- Okazuje się również, że zapasy metanu są znacznie większe od wszystkich paliw kopalnych razem wziętych. Nic więc dziwnego, że już teraz rezerwami metanu interesują się min. koncerny.

O ilości i wartości hydratów, niech świadczy poniższy przykład:

” Szacuje się, że w Zatoce Meksykańskiej znajduje się ponad 184 biliony metrów sześciennych hydratu, uwięzionych w piaskowcu. Zdaniem amerykańskiego Minerals Management Service, zatoka jest obecnie najlepszym kandydatem do komercyjnej eksploatacji. Jeśli chociaż 5 proc. tego hydratu można by wydobyć, to i tak byłoby to 8,4 biliona metrów sześciennych. Dla porównania, rezerwy gazu ziemnego Stanów Zjednoczonych szacowane są obecnie na niecałe 6 bilionów metrów sześciennych.”

Jak więc wykorzystać taką okazję? Odpowiedź nie jest prosta. Problemem jest wydobycie.

Pomysłów na wydobycie jest wiele, część z nich sięga absurdu, są też i jednak całkiem realne, “lód metanowy” można np. podgrzać w otworze wiertniczym, doprowadzając do jego rozpadu (tego typu technologię używa się obecnie np. przy eksploatacji ciężkiej ropy naftowej).

Problemem są też koszty, ale przy szybko rosnącej cenie ropy (i przy kurczących się zapasach) okazać się może, że już za kilka, lub kilkanaście lat metan stanie się opłacalnym źródłem energii.

Problemem kolejnym, są potencjalne zagrożenia..

“Puszka Pandory”

Według wielu, metan jest 25- krotnie lepszym nośnikiem ciepła niż dwutlenek węgla. Jest zatem, z punktu widzenia zmian klimatu- niezwykle niebezpieczny. W mediach co jakiś czas można znaleźć materiały- które sugerują, że stopniowy wzrost temperatury (i generalnie chodzi w tym przypadku głownie o temp. oceanów) doprowadzi do niekontrolowanego i nagłego uwolnienia metanu, powodując tym samym znaczące przyspieszenie efektu cieplarnianego.

Metan podejrzewany jest o spowodowanie w przeszłości wielu katastrof ekologicznych : rozpad hydratów i uwolnienie dużej ilości metanu mogło być przyczyną ogromnego wzrostu temperatury na ziemi w późnym paleolicie i wymarcia wielu organizmów morskich.

Szacuje się, że przy wzroście temperatury planety o 3-5°C może nastąpić wyzwolenie ok. 1000-4000 miliardów ton metanu. A to dodatkowo powinno doprowadzić do jeszcze szybszego ocieplenia (negatywne scenariusze przewidują wzrost temp. nawet o ok. 7°C).

Obecnie największy niepokój wśród badaczy budzą: rosnąca temperatura oceanów, topniejący lód Arktyki oraz wzrost temperatury na obszarze Syberii- czyli generalnie rzecz biorąc na obszarach, na których ilość metanu uwięzionego w hydratach jest olbrzymia.

Kiedy to się stanie? Na pierwszy rzut oka wydawać by się mogło, że cienka linia jest już tuż , tuż a proces “uwalniania” metanu systematycznie przyspiesza, przybliżając nas każdego dnia do klimatycznej zagłady.

Tyle teoria.

“Kubeł bardzo zimnej wody”

Okazuje się jednak, że w praktyce wygląda to już inaczej.. Wbrew temu co sugerują media czy też ekolodzy- wzrost nagromadzenia metanu w atmosferze jest nie tylko znacznie mniejszy od tego co przewidywało IPCC, ale także wzrost ten został w ostatniej dekadzie zminimalizowany, do poziomu “zero”:

Dane te są jeszcze ciekawsze, gdy zapoznamy się z kolejną grafiką (źródło: Dlugokencky et al., 2009. Ekspert zajmujący się badaniami nad metanem w NOAA)- z której wynika jednoznacznie, że wzrost stężenia metanu- nie rośnie, a wprost przeciwnie- spada (chwilowym “skokiem” był rok 2007r).

Takie spowolnienie jest nie tylko kłopotliwe, ale stanowi również  “kubeł” z bardzo zimną wodą dla wszystkich tych, którzy już na wczoraj wieszczyli koniec świata.

Indonesia memanfaatkan gas metan baru sebatas untuk keperluan rumah tangga saja. Padahal negeri ini punya potensi besar memaksimalkannya menjadi energi listrik alternatif.

Hal itu diungkapkan Arif Budi Witarto, Pakar Bioteknologi dari Lembaga Ilmu Pengetahuan Indonesia (LIPI).

“Indonesia punya potensi luar biasa untuk memanfaatkannya sebagai energi alternatif. Tapi, belum dilakukan,” ujarnya saat berdialog di acara Green Talk, 89.2 FM Green Radio, Senin (1/6).

Potensi memperoleh gas metan datang dari berbagai sektor, misalnya sektor peternakan yaitu dari kotoran hewan ternak di kandang. Selain itu gas metan bisa diperoleh dari sektor lainnya seperti, pertanian, kehutanan dan juga dari sampah.

Menurutnya, dari situ saja sudah memberikan kandungan gas metan cukup besar bagi negeri ini. Terlebih kalau ditambahkan dengan cadangan timbunan gas metan di bawah laut. Keseluruhan potensi cadangan gas metan di Indonesia diprediksi sebesar 858,6 Tcf (trilyun kaki kubik).

“Jumlah yang sangat besar untuk dimanfaatkan sebagai energi bahan bakar pengganti fosil,” paparnya.

Hanya saja, sekali lagi pemanfaatannya masih untuk keperluan rumah tangga saja. Gas metan hasil limbah organik atau kotoran kandang itu baru dipakai sebagai bahan bakar alternatif di pedesaan. Kalaupun ada daerah-daerah yang memanfaatkannya sebagai energi listrik, jumlahnya tidak cukup banyak. Padahal Arif mengatakan bahwa daerah-daerah pedesaan di Indonesia mampu menghasilkan banyak gas metan.

“Itu bisa menjadi pilihan warga pedesaan mendapatkan energi alternatif listrik dan bahan bakar yang mudah, murah dan cukup efisien,” kata Arif.

Sebagaimana kita ketahui juga, gas metan bisa dihasilkan dari tumpukan sampah. Tempat Pembuangan Akhir (TPA) Bantar Gebang, Bekasi seharusnya bisa dimanfaatkan untuk mendapatkan gas metan, karena jumlah sampahnya yang begitu banyak. Sayangnya, Arif menilai proses pemisahan limbah organik yang menghasilkan gas metan menjadi kendala.

“Perlu dorongan positif agar pengelola mau melakukannya, sehingga bisa diperoleh bahan baku gas metan,” katanya.Arif mengatakan bahwa proses mendapatkan bahan baku gas metan sebenarnya jauh lebih sederhana dibandingkan dengan energi lainnya. Hanya saja untuk melakukannya belum menjadi prioritas.

Dari sampah yang menumpuk di perkotaan saja sudah menjadi potensi yang besar untuk mendapatkan gas metan, yang berguna sebagai energi alternatif. Akibat inisiatif yang kurang, sampah yang tidak teroptimalkan tersebut malah menyebabkan pencemaran.

“Indonesia harus bisa memanfaatkan gas metan menjadi hal yang lebih bermanfaat bagi masyarakat dan bumi,” harapnya.

Gas Metan atau lengkapnya bernama gas hidrat metan memiliki kode senyawa CH4 dengan nama ilmiah methane hydrate. Disebutkan oleh para ahli bahwa di lapisan bawah kutub tertimbun kurang lebih 950 giga ton. Kontribusi gas metan terhadap pemanasan global sekitar 21 kali lebih besar daripada CO2. Begitu dia terlepas ke udara, mampu menyebabkan naiknya suhu bumi dan mempercepat pemanasan global.

Organska materija otkrivena je u atmosferi planete veličine Jupitera koja kruži oko zvezde udaljene 63 svetlosne godine u sazvežđu Lisičica (latinski Vulpecula).

Planeta HD 189733b se nalazi previše blizu svojoj zvezdi da bi se na njoj razvio život kakav poznajemo.

Naučni institut svemirskog teleskopa u Baltimoru, koji koordinira korišćenje Habla, objavio je da je otkriće rezultat posmatranja svemira u maju.

Mark Swain iz NASA-inog istraživačkog centra JPL (Jet Propulsion Laboratory) iz Kalifornije koji je predvodio tim zaslužan za otkriće opisao je taj rad kao “probu za buduće potrage za životom na gostoljubljivijim planetama”. Swain je glavni autor teksta objavljenog u četvrtak u časopisu Nature.

S druge strane, Sara Seager sa istraživačkog univerziteta MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) koja nije učestvovala u projektu smatra da će pronalaženje organskih molekula na drugim planetama nalik Zemlji biti mnogo teže.

Metan je važan, jedan je od četiri molekula koje astronomi traže, zajedno s vodom, ugljen dioksidom i kiseonikom, ali uglavnom kao nusprodukt života, što na planeti o kojoj je reč nije slučaj, rekao je astronom s Carnegie Institution for Science iz Washingtona Alan Boss.

Efectul de seră este procesul de încălzire a unei planete din cauza radiaţiei reflectate de aceasta, care, în condiţiile prezenţei unor gaze cu efect de seră în atmosferă, o parte semnificativă a radiaţiei va fi reflectată înapoi spre suprafaţă.

Termenul de „efect de seră” este folosit cel mai adesea în vorbirea curentă pentru a evidenţia contribuţia unor anumite gaze emise natural sau artificial la încălzirea atmosferei terestre prin modificarea permeabilităţii atmosferei la radiaţiile solare reflectate de suprafaţa terestră.

În cazul atmosferei Pământului, efectul de seră a fost responsabil de încălzirea suficientă a acesteia pentru a permite dezvoltarea plantelor aşa cum le cunoaştem noi azi.

Principalul element responsabil de producerea efectului de seră sunt vaporii de apă (70%). Următoarea pondere o are dioxidul de carbon (9%), urmat de metan (9%) si ozon (7%).

În ultima jumătate de secol au fost emise în atmosferă cantităţi foarte mari de dioxid de carbon şi metan, care au redus permeabilitatea atmosferei pentru radiaţiile calorice reflectate de Pământ spre spaţiul cosmic. Acest lucru a dus la începerea aşa-numitului fenomen de încălzire globală.

Si care era monitorizat înca de la formare, prin sateliti si sistemul GPS (Global Position System).
Cum se explica atunci lipsa de avertizare?
Marina SUA se afla pe lista beneficiarilor avertismentelor transmise de Pacific Warning Center.
În plus, marina are un sistem sofisticat de urmarire prin satelit, care i-au permis monitorizarea valului seismic, pas cu pas.
Totusi marina a ramas “muta”, desi printr-un simplu telefon în Sri Lanka, Thailanda sau India ar fi putut sa evite tragedia umana care s-a produs.
Congresul încearca sa stabileasca de ce Guvenul SUA a avertizat doar doua tari aliate, Australia si Indonezia, dar nu si tari din lumea a treia, ca India, Thailanda, Sri Lanka.
Ori pe cele de pe coasta de sud-est a Africii, lovite dupa opt ore si afectate grav de imensul val seismic.
Congresul SUA considera ca Guvernul american avea datoria sa anunte, din timp, toate tarile din regiunea Oceanului Indian, care erau amenintate de tsunami… Praf în ochi.

Se pun urmatoarele întrebari: de ce nu au fost informate guvernele statelor din regiunea Oceanului Indian despre iminenta dezastrului?
A existat o evidenta “selectivitate” în alegerea tarilor avertizate de SUA?

On November 28th, one month ago, Reuters reported that during a 3 day span 169 whales and dolphins beached themselves in Tasmania, an island of the southern coast of mainland Australia and in New Zealand.

The cause for these beachings is not known, but Bob Brown, a senator in the Australian parliament, said “sound bombing” or seismic tests of ocean floors to test for oil and gas had been carried out near the sites of the Tasmanian beachings recently.

According to Jim Cummings of the Acoustic Ecology Institute, seismic surveys utilizing airguns have been taking place in mineral-rich areas of the world’s oceans since 1968.

Malang (ANTARA) – Laboratorium penangkap gas metan pertama di Indonesia yang berlokasi di tempat pembuangan akhir (TPA) Supiturang Kota Malang, Jawa Timur, yang dibangun atas kerjasama segitiga antara Pemkot, Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) dan BGP Engineering Belanda, mulai dioperasikan.

Menurut Direktur Pusat Kajian Energi, Lingkungan dan Pembangunan Daerah UMM, Prof. Laode Kamaludin, Rabu, alat beserta instalasi yang telah terbangun itu murni dana hibah dari BGP engineering Belanda sebesar Rp1 miliar.

Ia mengemukakan, laboratorium penangkap gas metan di TPA Supiturang tersebut menggunakan teknologi tinggi yang dilengkapi solar sel dan komputer yang tersambung langsung ke internet

Komputer tersebut, katanya, mampu merekam banyaknya gas metan yang telah terbakar dan data-data itu secara otomatis langsung ditransfer ke “reciever” UMM dan BGP engineer Belanda.

Ia mengakui, gas metan yang ditangkap melalui alat penangkap gas metan (flaring) dibakar dan menghasilkan CO2 yang mampu mencegah kerusakan alam dan pemanasan global.

“Gas metan ini merupakan salah satu gas yang berbahaya yang memiliki daya rusak 21 kali lipat ketimbang CO2. Gas metan ini mampu merusak lapisan ozon sehingga harus diamankan,” katanya menambahkan.

Pembangunan laboratorium gas metan di TPA Supiturang tersebut dimulai awal November 2008 dan menurut rencana akan dikembangkan untuk pengolahan gas metan secara komersial, karena gas metan yang berhasil ditangkap mampu menghasilkan energi listrik.

Hasil penelitian yang dilakukan tim dari Unmuh Malang bersama Belanda beberapa waktu lalu disebutkan, potensi gas metan yang dikelola melalui TPA Supiturang di Kota Malang, rata-rata mencapai 118,3 juta meter kubik per tahun untuk lahan seluas 5 hektare.

Harga jual gas metan rata-rata sebesar 18 dolar AS per ton dan areal lahan TPA Supiturang mencapai 12 hektare. Jika limbah sampah di TPA Supiturang tersebut diolah seluruhnya, pendapatan dari kerjasama pengelolaan itu akan menjadi dua kali lipat.

Selain menghasilkan gas metan sebanyak 118,3 juta meter kubik per lima hektare, TPA Supiturang juga mampu menghasilkan energi listrik minimal 5,6 juta Kwh per tahun dari volume sampah yang dibuang ke TPA rata-rata 700 sampai 800 meter kubik per hari dari 75 Tempat Pembuangan Sementara (TPS) di daerah itu.

Основатель российского медиахолдинга News Media Radio Group и бывший глава News Corp. Europe Мартин Помпадур планирует запустить в России одноименную телеверсию старейшего в мире журнала о кино — The Hollywood Reporter. Компания Metan Development Group, совладельцем которой он является, уже заключила соглашение о совместной реализации проекта с издателями журнала — группой THR.

Kомпания METAN Development Group LLC и группа THR, занимающаяся изданием одного и самых читаемых в мире журналов о кино The Hollywood Reporter, заключили соглашение о запуске в России одноименной телеверсии журнала.

Телевизионный The Hollywood Reporter будет представлять собой 15-минутные новостные выпуски, посвященные голливудским и российским знаменитостям, сообщает “Коммерсант”.

Отмечается, что доля локального контента составит не менее 20 процентов. Вести русский выпуск будет супермодель Евгения Танаева. Шоу будет предлагаться покупателям телеконтента и телеканалам.

Председатель совета директоров “Муз-ТВ” Рубен Оганесов заявил, что появление отдельной готовой программы, посвященной новостям из жизни голливудских и российских знаменитостей, было бы интересным, поскольку сейчас аналогичные программы на канале компонуются из материалов новостных агентств.

Со своей стороны гендиректор “MTV Россия” Алексей Ефимов отметил, что проект Metan Development заинтересует MTV только “в случае его эксклюзивности”. Ефимов добавил, что новости из жизни звезд занимают не более десятой части эфира MTV и не особенно востребованы.

The Hollywood Reporter является одним из самых авторитетных изданий о киноиндустрии в США. Журнал был основан 79 лет назад – в 1930 году. В настоящее время выходят ежедневный и еженедельный печатные номера, кроме того, на сайте журнала представлено множество различных электронных предложений. Издатели The Hollywood Reporter также являются организаторами ежегодных престижных премий Key Art Awards и Women in Entertainment.

Как говорится в сообщении Metan Development, соглашение компании с THR (издает The Hollywood Reporter, входит в Nielsen Co.) подразумевает совместное производство программы The Hollywood Reporter в Китае и России. Представитель Metan Group Николь Гессерингер отметила, что это будет ежедневные 15-минутные новости о голливудских и национальных знаменитостях. При этом доля локального контента будет составлять не менее 20%. В России программу будет вести модель Евгения Танаева. По мнению главы THR Эрика Мики, сотрудничество с Metan Development обеспечит его компании узнаваемость бренда The Hollywood Reporter и диверсификацию бизнеса в мире. Согласно информации на сайте Metan Development, компания также планирует запустить в России еще одну программу о музыкантах и шоу-бизнесе – Top 10. Мартин Помпадур – один из основателей российского медиахолдинга News Media Radio Group («Наше радио», Best FM, «Ультра»). В 2008 году покинул пост главы News Corp. Europe. В феврале совместно с одним из основателей E! Entertainment Лари Неймером создал компанию Metan Development Group, ориентированную преимущественно на производство программ для китайского рынка. В России господин Помпадур с начала 1990-х годов является также совладельцем сети кофеен Montana Coffee. The Hollywood Reporter – первое издание о голливудских знаменитостях, издается с сентября 1930 года. Вместе с журналом Variety является самым авторитетным изданием о киноиндустрии в США. Ежедневно журнал читают около 10 млн человек во всем мире. Сейчас издается THR, входящей вместе с исследовательской компанией AC Nielson в Nielson Co. По словам гендиректора «MTV Россия» Алексея Ефимова, новости о звездах занимают не более десятой части эфира его телеканала и являются не самой востребованной программой на MTV, при этом большую часть такого контента предоставляет MTV International. По данным TNS Russia, с 11 по 17 мая 2009 года в Москве программа о звездах «News блок Weekly» на MTV заняла десятое место среди самых рейтинговых программ телеканала в аудитории старше четырех лет – ее посмотрели 0,4% телезрителей. На канале «Муз-ТВ» в аналогичном рейтинге за тот же период программа «PROновости» заняла третье место. «Сейчас мы компонуем такой контент преимущественно из материалов новостных агентств, поэтому появление отдельной готовой программы по эту тему будет интересно», – говорит председатель совета директоров «Муз-ТВ» Рубен Оганесов. По словам господина Ефимова, проект Metan Development заинтересует MTV только в случае его эксклюзивности.

LOS ANGELES, May 14 /PRNewswire/ — Metan Development Group LLC (Metan) and The Hollywood Reporter have inked a deal to develop programming content for the international marketplace, beginning with native Asian and Russian television audiences throughout the world. The announcement was made today by Metan Chairman and Co-founder Martin Pompadur and Eric Mika, Publisher The Hollywood Reporter and VP of Nielsen Entertainment & Media Group.

Metan, which is a new production acquisition and distribution venture set to provide cost-effective pop-culture newsmagazines and other Hollywood content throughout the Chinese market and Russia, is positioned to be the syndicator of choice for Hollywood suppliers seeking a local ally in the emerging Asian and Russian markets.

Sealing its first major deal with The Hollywood Reporter, the companies will co-produce “The Hollywood Reporter,” a daily, 15-minute branded entertainment news show in the country’s native language, featuring news anchors reporting from studios in China and Russia, with support from field reporters throughout the United States. Ford model and spokesperson Jenia Tanaeva will host the Russian version of the show and the host for the Asian version has yet to be named. The show’s content will take a unique country specific approach to each market’s audiences tastes and needs with news stories selected based on local appeal, featuring a minimum of 20% localized content.

Additional entertainment and celebrity-focused, country-tailored content will be developed for daily and weekly series, as well as specials, for Asia, and Russia, including all the CIS republics, as well as for other native language-speaking audiences around the globe. Content will be tailored to each local audience’s interests.

Metan’s senior production executive Adam Cohen will develop the new series with industry veteran Rick Portin, former production head for E! Entertainment Television and executive producer for Microsoft Interactive Television. Producers will have special access to The Hollywood Reporter’s content spanning all media, as well as support from the publication’s editorial staff.

The new show will be offered up to all television content buyers catering to native-language speakers in Asia and Russia, as well as to all high density Asian and Russian markets throughout the world.

Launched in February 2009, Metan Development Group LLC (Metan) is a new venture created to develop and distribute entertainment content and media specifically for international markets.
