Fine anno.

Make Love And Listen To Death From Above.

Veja aqui o Top 10:

1 – Beyonce - Crazy In Love (2003)

Vielleicht gibts ja nächste Woche eine “No Name Interpret- Original versus Cover Week” Was haltet ihr davon?

The ‘60s passed, and soon all things psychedelic were confined to the parking lots of Grateful Dead

The ‘60s passed, and soon all things psychedelic were confined to the parking lots of Grateful Dead concerts. Throughout the ‘70s and ‘80s the genre experienced a widespread backlash in the experiemental/art-rock scene that now adopted Punk in all its gritty glory. The Dead scene -along with British Prog and roots rock like The Allman Brothers- kept the psychedelic spirit alive throughout the ‘70s and ‘80s, and by the ‘90s psychedelic rock emerged on college campuses as Jam Band music.

In part due to the newfound Rave scene, a new drug culture developed that idealized and mimicked the psychedelic ‘60s. As a result, college campuses in the ‘90s were swarming with free spirited neo-hippies looking for a headier, more spiritual sound (as opposed to the then popular Grunge and Alt. Rock). Psychdelic/Goa Trance emerged in the early ’90s…check out ‘1200 Mics-Salvia’ below

Jam Bands mimic the improvisational ‘jams’ made popular by the Grateful Dead, and incorporate such jams into American Roots Rock. Many Jam Bands’ sounds are referred to as ‘blends’ of two or more genres ranging from Electronica to Bluegrass. In the early ‘90s, the most iconic of these bands was Phish. Phish, like the Grateful Dead, toured extensively and slowly grew their fan base via live shows. Phish composed lengthy, epic tunes and developed new methods of jamming like the Big Ball Jam; when a large ball is tossed in the crowd and the bands ‘Jams’ on the balls movements.

Similar sounding bands like Widespread Panic, Gov’t Mule, the String Cheese Incident, and moe., likewise gained popularity. The Jam Band scene grew, and soon electronica-based acts like Sound Tribe Sector 9 were grouped together with jazz-fusion acts like Medeski Martain and Wood all under the umbrella term “Jam Band”.

“Sound Tribe Sector 9 – Water Song”

“The Disco Biscuits – Live Jam (2/14/98)”

Experimentation and/or originality are certainly necessary for artists to be incorporated into the Rock Canon. It’s for this reason why so many recent Jam Bands are mostly ignored by Rock critics, magazines, and literature. In their live performances, the integration of various genres seemingly creates an all-encompassing psychedelic feel. In the recording process, however, this “genre blending” resulted in largely unfocused, unoriginal albums void of both experimentation and originality.

In the 2000s, Phish stopped touring and Jam Bands became out of fashion on college campuses. Currently, young artists devote their ‘psychedelic energy’ towards electronic and indie Rock. Bands like Animal Collective, MGMT, and Yeasayer are all admitted Jam Band fans that have moved on from the now stale Jam Band scene. A new ‘Psychedelic’ has emerged based on British Shoegaze, ‘90s Indie Rock, and electronica.

“Animal Collective – Slippi (live)”

lady gaga – the fame monster
mgmt – oracular spectacular
passion pit – chunk of change
passion pit – manners

In support of Current TV’s Embedded this week, I made a short post at the Current Music blog about Passion Pit and the hype that sometimes surrounds one lucky(?) indie band.

Passion Pit are one of the most talked about bands of 2009, particularly on the internet. They’ve gotten a lot of buzz since they formed in 2007, a result of lead singer and songwriter Michael Angelakos first writing songs for his then-girlfriend and starting a band “because [he] had nothing else to do” that took over the Boston music scene. After being upstreamed to Columbia via Frenchkiss Records, however, the band began to garner national attention as well, and their major label debut, Manners, was released with the kind of overenthusiastic fanfare that Vampire Weekend received during 2008 and MGMT got the year before that.

They’re a band in the middle of what seems to be a well-oiled machine at this point: indie hype. Last year Current aired “Hyping Indie Hype,” a segment about creating buzz for underground artists in both rock and rap, suggesting that even with the marketability of “indie” as a genre since television shows like “The OC” made indie cool to the masses, it’s still hard for independent artists to really break the mainstream. For those that do, however, the praise is overwhelming, pushing emerging bands at consumers so much so early that a backlash can happen before the band even fully establishes their sound. These days, some consider Clap Your Hands Say Yeah a cautionary tale.

[CHECK OUT THE REST ON CURRENT]

I’ve actually had the opportunity to contribute a lot to the extras for Embedded. I’ve slacked on re-blogging, but you can certainly take a look at the various things I’ve written for the blog right here, and then watch all of the related episodes! If you enjoy musicians and exclusive access to behind-the-scenes material, then Embedded is the show for you.

I’m feeling rough, I’m feeling raw, I’m in the prime of my life.
Let’s make some music, make some money, find some models for wives.
I’ll move to Paris, shoot some heroin, and fuck with the stars.
You man the island and the cocaine and the elegant cars.

This is our decision, to live fast and die young.
We’ve got the vision, now let’s have some fun.
Yeah, it’s overwhelming, but what else can we do.
Get jobs in offices, and wake up for the morning commute.

Forget about our mothers and our friends
We’re fated to pretend
To pretend
We’re fated to pretend
To pretend

I’ll miss the playgrounds and the animals and digging up worms
I’ll miss the comfort of my mother and the weight of the world
I’ll miss my sister, miss my father, miss my dog and my home
Yeah, I’ll miss the boredom and the freedom and the time spent alone.

There’s really nothing, nothing we can do
Love must be forgotten, life can always start up anew.
The models will have children, we’ll get a divorce
We’ll find some more models, everything must run it’s course.

We’ll choke on our vomit and that will be the end
We were fated to pretend
To pretend
We’re fated to pretend
To pretend

Yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah

Never posted this video on here for some reason. Never knew that Eric Warehim directed before I saw this. Eric Wareheim of Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job! and Tom Goes to the Mayor. And a bunch of other hilarious shit. Anyways. MGMT needs to hurry up with their sophomore album. It’s been a little more than two years since their (classic) debut, Oracular Spectacular. I’ve only heard “Metanoia” since then. Congratulations is their next album. And apparently it’s coming out in Spring 2010.

E LIVE THE DREAM, se no final for uma bosta a ponto de desistir, at least you’ve tried, at least você chegou lá. ^^

Próxima missão: passar na experiência. Hey ho, let’s go!

Verbraucherfreundlich wie immer, bietet Sup Pop Avi Buffalos grandioses “What’s In It For” für lau zum Download an.

A fairly new and unknown (to the masses) rap group from Philadelphia, United States. Chiddy Bang consists of four members and they describe their work as hip-hop/electronica. The group became popular when they sampled the song Kids by MGMT and added their [not awesome but still] catchy rap lyrics. After google-ing Chiddy Bang a while ago I found out that their actually in college and on top of that freshmans. Did some more research and found some of their other tracks and realized that these guy will probably go far with their happy hip-hop sound. I can definitely see wasted college kids playing beerpong and getting fucked up to their future tunes. Until then, here is some of their work that I recommend.
