Walter Sobcek released a new remix to Ladyhawke’s Delerium.  This track just doesn’t get old.  Sobcek’s edit is based on soft melodies all while tossing in Ladyhawke’s unique and distinctive vocals.  The two make a beautiful combo together.

The second remix is by far my favourite Ladyhawke remix ever.  It was pulled from the archives so its not new by any means.  Fred Falke and Miami Horror do wonders for this remix.  It is a perfect blend of signature synth from Falke, amazing originality by Miami Horror, and effortless vocals by Ladyhawke to tie it all together beautifully.

WTF?! Why do I keep doing this electro type music for? I guess it’s because its fun to mix. I feel like I’m going on a journey when I mix electro tracks. I like finding those transitions that just sound perfect together and let them ride for a good 32, 64, or more bars sometimes.

Yeah, I don’t really listen to electro by my own powers but I love it in the club when the bass is hittin’ and the DJs are killin’ it. I sift through a shitload of it too when I am listening to music blogs. At that point, I just get into a “this works, this doesn’t work” mode as I pick songs that I could potentially use in a mix. I never really look for it though. I never search the artists. My trusted blogs, which I probably follow for hip hop, downtempo, bmore, indie, and so on, just seem to love electro as well, so its right in my face. Being the thorough person that I am, I got to listen to all the tracks that the blog is offering up, if I trust the blog. So you see, electro is always in my face, I will always be previewing and downloading tracks, and eventually making more electro mixes. Just hope somebody out there appreciates my work. I do appreciate mixing electro though, because it brings out a lot of my musical creativity that can’t be seen when I am mixing hip hop. Thank you electro, for bombarding me with your hits.

Miami Horror, both the alias of DJ Benjamin Plant and the name of the newly formed live band, is an electro-pop act out of Melbourne, Australia that sprung from house-party and weekly night-club performances. Plant, the band’s original brainchild and producer, first made noise DJ-ing distinguished international events as well as remixing for such notable names as the Presets and Stardust. In 2008 the band came out with the EP ‘Bravado’, which featured blog hits ‘Make You Mine’ and ‘Don’t Be On With Her’ that offered a fresh sound wrapped in synthetic twang. Now, after a few years work, they’re almost ready to release their debut album.

Featuring the instant-fav single, ‘Sometimes’, which arrived only a few weeks ago, the album is set for January 2010 and is said to include many tracks inspired by work Plant had done at as far back as age 18 (he’s 22 now). I’m more than anxious to see what these guys do. Below are a few tracks and remixes ripe for the download; every one of them is fantastic, so don’t hold back. Check out the music video also, it’s a sweet take on the spacey synths and bells of the new single, given direction by beats full of pop and pull that might just put Miami Horror at the top of your list in the disco-house scene. enjoy

Miami Horror is phenomenal.  I like nearly everything Benjamin Vanguarde produces under his alias.  The Australian native seems fixated on staying home by filling his calender with dates devoted to his home country.  We need to somehow get him overseas after the Australian tour.  Vanguarde’s newest is the first single from the 2010 album Illumination.  It’s definitely worth the peak.

Miami Horror’s Make You Mine is one of a kind.  It has laid the foundation to a plethora of newly constructed remixes that simply rock the world.  Check out Cassian and Falke’s versions here, but despite the remix the original cannot be beat.  Funky and fresh you just can’t find another ‘oldie’ that renders what this can.

Last Monday A-Trak released his much anticipated remix to Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Heads Will Roll. The teaser was spectacular but the full length track is unbelievably better.  I didn’t get a chance to post it earlier so if you don’t have it grab it below.  A-Trak goes wild on it. He kicks in a variety of verses and sporadic beats that will have clubs and parties everywhere craving for more.  I pitty the track that has to unfortunately follow this mix wherever it is played.

Miami Horror is an Australian band that can easily be described as kick-ass.  Their new EP Bravado, delivers 5 songs with a completely different sound ranging from a Rock ‘n’ Roll concert feel that is immediately noticed in Summerfest ‘86 to the Horror-Disco feel of Illumination. Although the album sounds more like a compilation from 5 different artists, they manage to make it work .  Bravado is fun, easy, and exciting to listen to. It brings back the 80’s for the people who experienced it and introduces it to those who missed it.  Rating, track listing and mp3 after the jump.

Several months ago YDP posted Miami Horror’s Make You Mine a ridiculous house song with disco roots…you know the stuff that made Daft Punk amazing. Surprisingly this formula has proved extremely hard for DJ’s to replicate. Enter Melbourne Australia, the extremely unlikely home of two of YDP’s favorite dance acts Cut Copy and and Miami Horror.

Miami Horror struck gold again with their new song Sometimes. If you listen closely you can hear the bass line from New Order’s Bizarre Love Triangle.

22 year old Canadian Hemingway is without a doubt one of the très cool dudes of the moment. His latest remix of Keenhouse is so warm and gooey that it just melts in your hands and runs down your face like french synth ice-cream. The lucky thing for us is that he’s just started taking the whole “music production thing” seriously this year and we can’t wait to get our grubby little hands on more of his work.

His weapons of choice for creation are Reason (instant kudos with the notcoolyet team), Ableton, and a Roland Sh-201 … hell yes for analogue synthesis!!

Don’t forget to check out Keenhouse and the “oh so hot right now” crew at Binary whose “LA Lights” complication gets officially released tomorrow (13 October)!!

Immer, wenn man denkt, das 80er-Revival sei nun vorbei, scheint es gerade erst anzufangen. Drei frische Acts, die zurück in der Zukunft sind, möchte ich euch fürs Wochenende mitgeben:

frYars ist das Alias des 20jährigen Briten Ben Garrett, dessen Debütalbum “Dark young hearts” am 13.  November erscheint. Wie Patrick Wolf mit seinem letzten Album “The bachelor” hat Garrett das Album über das Projekt Bandstocks von Fans finanzieren lassen, produziert hat Stephen Hague, der bereits für die Pet Shop Boys und New Order hinter den Reglern saß. Und den Kontakt zu Dave Gahan von Depeche Mode herstellte, der von der Musik frYars so angetan war, dass er für die Single “Visitors” gleich Backingvocals beisteuerte.

Über die Musiker hinter dem Namen Silver Columns ist noch nicht viel bekannt, außer, dass sie angeblich “in sehr bekannten Band” aktiv seien. Joe Goddard von Hot Chip hat ihr Debütalbum produziert, das im kommenden Jahr erscheinen soll, und für den Vorboten “Brow beaten” auch einen Remix angefertigt.

This year has been a big one for the Big Day Out. The event has sold out in all states(and New Zeland, which everyone knows is just an extenstion of Australia really) and an etra show has been added in Sydney for only the second time the festival’s history. Many people were expecting a big second announcement and there were rumours of bands such as Phoenix and Vampire Weekend.

Instead, the actual  second line-up is looking a little bit crap. I mean Jet. Seriously. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for boring bogan rock but does anybody actually care about them anymore?
