Kanowna is now moving forward at the speed of a out of control train and with only three days left

Kanowna is now moving forward at the speed of a out of control train and with only three days left until filming starts there is a sense of urgency in the air.

We had a production meeting this morning, which really helped to move things along. There were some concerns with some departments but it now seems that everything is on track. There are still a couple of details to fall into place but I am extremely confident that they will.

It is kind of scary to know that there is only three days left and the majority of the cast fly into Perth this Tuesday. Consider we have spent the later part of this year developing and planning this production, the ball only really started to gain momentum over the last five weeks. Chris (Director) has been getting into the creative mindset and I know he really enjoys the preparation with the actors, so it is good to see his mind ticking over and thinking about performance and story and focussing less on the production side of things. All we have to do is make sure everything is in place to allow him to focus on the story and vision that we have been working on.

We have a great cast assembled for this film and it is an absolute privilege that they have agreed to work with us. It is also fantastic that our crew have all volunteered their time to join us on this journey and we certainly can’t thank everyone enough.

With three days to go, the clock is certainly ticking…

Some background about Kanowna:

In a dusty, dry cemetery in a little known corner of Western Australia there is a plaque that tells a tragic tale from our gold mining past, but this tale isn’t one you’d expect. It is a story of the loss of a newly born baby, a double murder and a gunfight. It is 1902, the major participants are Japanese and the place is called Kanowna.

Cast:

Dustin Clare as Trooper Brown

Clarke Richards as Trooper Clarke

Today was spent reviewing through the submission materials for ‘In and Under’ 24 hours out from the deadline. Everything has been checked, rechecked and checked again. The final version has just been locked down and will be sent to Screen West first thing in the morning.

I would like to thank my colleagues at KBC18; Chris Scully and Richard Hyde for their hard work and dedication over the last three months and also special thanks to Richard; for the amount of material and writing he delivered in extremely short time-frames.

I really think we are onto something special with this series and hopefully the powers-that-be on the panel will agree with us and allow us to develop the series further to bring it once step closer to appearing on your television screen.
