After seeing Mirageman earlier this year, I couldn’t wait to place the next movie from the creators of that movie before my eyeballs.

up being ok since Kiltro was the first movie from director Ernesto Díaz Espinoza and his muse and all around man meat, Marko Zaror.  So that only means they are getting better.

Kiltro has a very cheesy kung-fu movie vibe to it. Something you would have seen in the late 80s/early 90s.  While yes, that is probably due to the small budget, but it is also on purpose.  Only difference is that the star, Marko’s ass kicking looks a lot better and it has an amazing score, instead of a bunch of bad faked punches and some guy on a Yamaha.  The movie isn’t as action packed as I hoped and got a little dull in the middle, as a whole however if you enjoy different things in kung fu check this out.

The basic story is that Zamir (Marko) is in love with Kim, but she doesn’t want him.  He once protected her from getting raped and in return she gave him a kiss.  He took this kiss very deeply and beats the crap out of anyone who even tries to look at Kim, even if she wants it.  So turns out her Dad (Teran) was part of some love triangle gone wrong and Max Kalba has come seeking vengeance on Kim and her dad.  Lo and behold Zamir is the son of Soto who is a kung fu master and we get the training montage of Zamir learning to be a better fighter rather then just a street brawler.  This is where the movie looses a little steam with to many long shots of people staring. But that quickly ends as we get the showdown between Zamir and Kalba.

The movie is too goofy to take serious, but they realize it.  The amazing thing is that they do the best with what they got.  This is almost a showcase of Marko Zaror’s abilities much in the same vein as Ong Back was for Tony Jaa.  While Marko isn’t all about no wire work, there is only minimal wire work done here.  Also unlike Ong Bak the movie has some sort of plot that is not completely stupid and shows off director’s Espinoza’s ability.

This is a movie that shows a lot of promise that is delivered twice fold in Mirageman, and I can’t wait for their next film Mandrill.  Another thing I got out of this movie is why I feel so cold toward all of Quentin Tarantino’s

This is must see movie

movies outside of Pulp Fiction.  While yes some stuff in his movies are technically awesome, everything has left me flat and I’ve figured out why.  He is TOO concerned with trying to imitate, reproduce or expand on some unknown movie from the 70’s, rather then creating his own style.  Which yes in turn has created his own style, but again it’s all style and no substance.

Where as a movie like Kiltro, which will never be seen as some great film you can see their love for old Kung Fu movies.  Instead of just copying old films they’ve created their own mystique and style, which ultimately is more rewarding then just a bunch of vanity shots showing off your movie trivia knowledge.

Oh yeah, the movie has a wise old midget to boot!

Today I installed the defroster bar.  I got power from a terminal on the solenoid (power always on) and grounded to a terminal behind the dash.  Here’s a look at the wiring I set up:

If you follow the wires up from the bar this is what you’ll see:

• 2 original cloth wrapped wires ending in new male 1/4″ spade connectors.  one to ground, one to power
• new ground wire with new female 1/4″ spade terminal and new O-ring terminal.  one to defroster, one to ground behind oil pressure gauge.
• new 14gauge fusible link with 10 amp fuse with new 1/4″ female spade terminal connected to 14gauge wire which terminates on the other end with a new 1/4″ female spade terminal.  one to defroster, one to spade connector on solenoid

good news is that it works and i didn’t burn anything up!

The Sprite passed its first annual Pennsylvania State Inspection.  I’m relieved.

I’ve hope you’ve caught the difference and don’t mistake them in public. It might make for a bad first impression on your part to confuse them.

Today I swapped out the dipswitch, I hadn’t been able to change between high and low beams since I got the car.  The spare dipswitch that my father had works well, thankfully.  One weird problem remains– high beam indicator light still stays on all the time.  At least I can switch back and forth.

So I go the head off of the seized 1275.  Unfortunately, the head itself seems to be stock– I was hoping to find a well ported head when I took it apart.  Check out these pictures, what the heck is going on here?  There’s all kinds of metallic looking junk in the bores but no noticable damage to the pistons, valves, or the head itself.  What could it be?

Frank and I installed new rear brake cylinders and shoes on the Sprite yesterday.  Toughest part of the job was installing the E clips that hold the cylinder onto the brake backing plate.  Thanks for your help, Frank!

I work at a counter top luncheonette style restaurant in the middle of a mall. It used to be part of Woolworth’s. It was a hamburger and hotdog grill. That was years ago. Now it’s a Bistro. The food is good. Pasta, pizza, fancy salads and sandwiches. I am a server. A waiter. A head server. Head waiter. That’s not the point. The point is that I work in the mall and that’s where I saw her.

I see many good looking women everyday I work. Young and old sexy women pass by the restaurant and I look and I watch whenever I can. I like women. All shapes and sizes and ethnicities.

One day I saw a hot Asian midget girl walk past with an average size friend. I was in shock. I was in awe. I was turned on for some reason.

I’ve been curious about being with a midget for while but mostly seeing them on the internet or on TV. Rarely seeing them in real life. I’ve always been attracted to Asian women and have dated a few and been with a few through the years. She was a delicious combination. I couldn’t get her out of my mind for days.

A few weeks later she appeared sitting in my section at the restaurant I work at. I had to server her and her friend. I was red in the face from excitement and nervousness. I acted polite and courteous and maybe a little extra friendly but I wanted to hit on her so bad. I wanted to try and talk to her but I was too shy. I did my job of servicing them and tried not to stare and enjoyed looking at her for the half an hour to forty minutes they stayed.

When she got up to leave I made it a point to watch her and check out her little body. Mmmmm. She was well proportioned for her height. She was wearing a short skirt and tights on her shapely little legs. I’m a leg man and love tights and pantyhose on a girl. Apparently I love them even more on an Asian midget. So my new dream girl vanished into the crowd at the mall and I haven’t seen her in over a month. I still think about her and wonder what I will do the next time I see her. Until then I’ have to settle back into checking out girls over the height of five feet. Oh well.

So yes, my long suffering fans… I have returned, perhaps 5 kilograms heavier than when I left, with an immeasurable desire for ostrich biltong, and a nice tan.

The holiday to South Africa rocked. We got to do some familial bonding time, and a fair amount of time got spent with the friends. Mr & Mrs B… many thanks for the awesome trip to Knysna and back… much obliged. Now come and visit us so we can return the favour. Wooz and SPF… it was great to be able to spend so much time with you guys… thanks for taking the leave and making it all possible. Chris and Lily and Megan… thanks for the accomodation and for letting us skank up your bathroom one week before your wedding.

So. This Blog has been built up by three weeks absence, and is bound to be a little longer than normal. As usual, if you want to skip the personal stuff, jump ahead to the line of asterisks at the end of this piece.

South Africa. Well well. It was an absolutely awesome trip. One of my favourite things to do in the whole world is to get a car that I like driving and then to take a long road trip. And the wife and I got to do just that with her family. The four of us piled into their car and drove off on what worked out to be an insanely expensive, but very enjoyable experience. And my god did we shop. Everything from Chutney to Cuckoo Clocks went into that car.

Let’s see, first stop was the Willows in Port Elizabeth. This was a classic little caravan/chalet place, and we got a two-bedroomed chalet for the four of us. Very comfortable, very clean and so close to the sea that even my youngest students could throw a stone into the water from the living room. We were there for two nights… and used the time soaking up some much-needed shopping. And thus began my fixation with finding the perfect pie on the holiday. See… the wife and I recently stopped being vegetarian and started eating seafood. Well… poultry has been added to the pile of edibles now… meaning that Chicken was back on the menu. (For the record, we still don’t eat mammals…. which means that yes, TURKEY is back on the menu for Christmas.) With chicken scratching at the doormat, I started in on Chicken Pies.

Woolworths to the rescue. AWESOME chicken and mushroom pie. Try it. Very good.

An aside – If it feels as if all the wife and I did on this holiday was sleep and eat, well… we feel that way too. It was a great holiday.

After PE, we drove on to Sedgefield…. chosen because it was nice and close to Knysna, which was where our friends Stompie and Jax were getting married. Yes… we did it all on this trip, weddings included. The place in Sedgefield was fantastic, the view was simply unbeatable.

Stompie and Jax threw themselves a Euro-funded Afro-ethnic wedding. And it was really a great evening. Good to be able to catch up with them again, as we hadn’t seen them since leaving Ireland. The wedding itself was out-standing and if their friends are anything to go by, they’ll be blessed in the future.

After the wedding it was a case of doing some family time in and around Knysna and George. We took in the sights of Hoekwil and Wilderness, the former very rustic, the latter full of sea spray.
Much seafood was eaten. Much chicken was eaten.

One of the highlights for the wife and I of the Sedgefield trip was a visit to the Wild Oats Farmer’s market… where local farmers sold their wares. (Mainly foodstuffs, but some raw produce too.) We got to soak up a little culture…

It was here that I found the undisputed BEST chicken pie in South Africa. The Steam Whistle Stop Pie company, operating out of god-knows where, but with a stand at the market.

After Sedgefield, there remained only the trip back to East London, which took much longer than expected. This is because of a little known family problem. Fact: If you place two women with disposable income in the back seat of a car, they will hatch plans to visit as many farm stalls as possible on the way back home. This is in a misguided effort to fill the car with very fattening farm foodstuffs and home produce. Thus, some 600 kilometres, 23 pieces of fudge, a half-dozen bottles of chutney, three full wheels of cheese, and 39 farm stalls later….. the entire Western Cape was denuded of produce, the car was groaning on its springs and we got home. To a huge dinner cooked by my sister in law.

The rest of the trip was spent with friends and family. I got to get in a fair amount of roleplaying with Wooz and the bunch, and even GMed a demo session for Jebb and his bunch. An obnoxiously large amount of time was spent virtually supine on Wooz’ patio drinking coffee… which is the perfect way to conduct oneself on holiday. Besides, the view from there isn’t half bad either.

Three weeks flew by with absolutely no regard for how much it cost us to get there, or indeed just how long 14 hours in economy class feels. (Particularly when you are bloated on fudge and chicken pies.)
There were tears, there were hugs and then we were gone.

To everyone who made the effort, thanks a hell of a lot guys, it was a vastly enjoyable experience.

The Truth About College:

SOCIOLOGY: For sheer lack of intelligibility, sociology is far and
away the number one subject. I sat through hundreds of hours of
sociology courses, and read gobs of sociology writing, and I never
once heard or read a coherent statement. This is because sociologists
want to be considered scientists, so they spend most of their time
translating simple, obvious observations into scientific-sounding code.
If you plan to major in sociology, you’ll have to learn to do the same
thing. For example, suppose you have observed that children cry when they
fall down. You should write: “Methodological observation of the
sociometrical behavior tendencies of prematurated isolates indicates that
a causal relationship exists between groundward tropism and lachrimatory
behavior forms.” If you can keep this up for 50 or 60 pages, you will get
a large government grant.

And that is that.. .. if there appears to be a lack of linkage in this blog, sorry… but 3 weeks without internet means that I didn’t find as many interesting things. Next time. K?

Preparations for the Merthyr Mawr 10k are well on course if today’s run is anything to go by. I ran 5.9 miles and incorporated 4 steep hills (2 long and 2 short) and a few gradual ones and although I took my time I didn’t struggle too much.

I think I’m mentally pretty much ready but physically is a slightly different issue, because much like Friday’s gym session I really found it difficult to get going, my legs felt stiff and my feet hurt but after about 2 miles and 2 short but steep hills I felt the adrenaline rushing and I finally found my stride.

I took 2 quick breaks, the first was at the foot of the first big hill for a minute or so at about 2.5 miles to compose myself and the second was at the top of it for the same reason, I never stopped again and even ran up the second big and even steeper hill without stopping before or after the climb and then ran home from there.

I never timed myself but am confident I was quite slow as I wasn’t rushing, I was more concerned with getting a good distance and getting some nice hills under my belt which I did.

The weather was terrible fluctuating from dry to drizzle to downpours and there was even a hail storm, and the wind was calm most of the but every now and then there would be a strong gush of wind which could come from any direction and would almost knock me down.

I feel tired and I have a sore right foot after the run but overall I feel good, it’s the first time I’ve run anywhere near this distance since the start of July so I’m more than happy with the run.

The run was powered by the albums “Infinity Land” by Biffy Clyro and “Individual Inconsistent” by Midget.
