It’s been quite a while now since last time I updated, sorry about that. I haven’t really been in the blogging-mood, and have tried to avoid my computer when I’ve been at home (which is where I usually blog). Anyway, here comes the update:

My old friend and colleague from Stallarna, Malin, came for a visit almost two weeks ago! She’s currently doing her exchange-studies in Taipei (in Taiwan for those who doesn’t know) together with her boyfriend Hasse.  Since she found a very cheap flight to Tokyo, she decided to pay me a visit for a long-weekend. On Thursday afternoon she arrived in Kawagoe, after having taken the bus from the airport all alone. We strolled around Crea Mall for a while, had dinner at the kaitensushi (sushi-go-round) at the station, then headed off home to socialize with my hostfmily. My hostfamily, by the way, is the nicest ever, they let her stay at our place during the three nights that she was here! Arigatou gozaimasu! On Friday I hooked Malin up with Kozue during the morning until early afternoon, while I had class, but I joined them in Shibuya as soon as I could. We stayed in town for quite a while, then headed back home to Kasumi for some yakiniku (grilled meat) and karaoke with Monchan and Kai.

On Saturday I had a Chinese theatre-play to attend at TIU together with my hostfamily, so I sent Malin off to Ikebukuro by herself, where she met up with our friend Yu, who was an exchange-student back in Växjö last year. Again, I hurried to meet up with them as soon as I could, this time in Asakusa. We headed to Ueno Kouen and Shunjuku, where we later met up with Haruka and Maiko. Dinner at an Italian place this time, so we wouldn’t have to worry about Malin dying due to her horrible peanut- and soy-allergy, then again off to….karaoke!

On Sunday we didn’t have much time before Malin had to catch the bus back to the airport, so we stayed in Kawagoe, where we strolled around some shrines/temples and in the old town, very nice! Her visit was short, but intense and nice! In two days she managed to see Ginza, Harajuku, Shinjuku, Shibuya, Asakusa, Meiji jinguu, Kawagoe and much more! It was great to have one of my old friends here visiting, come back soon again! Of course we also had time for some purikura:

After her visit was over, I had to get back to my studies and concentrate on writing a fun skit for my groups’ happyoukai, where we had to do a speech or a skit, in Japanese, in front of all our hostfamilies and friends… My class divided up in to two groups and made skits, the C and D class had to to speeches and the classes below us could choose one or the other. There were lots of speeches, but luckily a fistful of skits as well, to wake people up! Our skit was obviously the best one (^_^)v  It was about Erik and Kisa, who argued about what channel to watch, while changing them. He wanted to watch sumo and she wanted to watch some girly drama. We started off with the news however, and some commercials in between. Sina, Jay and did the different programs, and were quite busy in between the changes from being a sumo-wrestler to a girl in a love-triangle-drama. It all ended with a boring Godzilla-movie. Very funny, if I get hold of the video I’ll post it at some point. All the other people did a good job as well, and we were all impressed with the A-class’ skit/speeches, where they played Mario Kart IRL so to speak. unfortunately my camera decided to die the day before all this, so I have no pictures of my own… (T_T)

The next update is about my camera, which died. I’m a photo-freak and love to take photos, so obviously this was a disaster for me! On Sunday, the day after the happyoukai, I rushed to Akihabara with Vedette in search for a new one, and immediately fell for the new Canon Ixy Digital 930IS! It’s simply awesome, can take photos in a wide-screen mode, swap colours on stuff, accentuate a specific colour and much, much more. I have yet to discover all the functions… On our way to Akihabara we bumped in to Chris W and Daniel, who were also on their way there. They managed to find the spot where you can get the magic (and a liiiittle bit illegal) RY-cards for the Nintendo DS-consoles, and I finally could get my very own. In a few seconds my DSi became a whole lot more interesting and oh so time-consuming… Long live the R4-cards!

Today, Wednesday, it was time for our washi/mikan-trip with the JSP. 9.30 in the morning the bus headed out from TIU, and 1.5 hours later we arrived somewhere in the mountains, where we first stopped at a place to make our own paper (washi), then went to another place to pick mikan (small oranges). On the way back we stopped for some tofu-icecream, and then most people fell asleep in the bus… Obviously on the way there everyone with a DS was busy playing, until we ran out of batteries… I joined a game of Mario Kart and lost terribly… I need more practice I guess…

The paper-making place was quite interesting, it was fun to make paper itself then decorate the little postcards that we had made. Too bad that we all forgot to actually leave any space on the cards where to write on…oh well…

Tired after a long day of fun…

This trip marked the beginning of the last month of JSP-fall semester…most people will be going home, only 12 of us will stay for next semester, when 9 new people (all Americans!!! I will be the only European!!! KAI DON’T LEAVE ME!!!!) will join us. It’s quite sad, knowing that we probably will never meet again, but then again…never say never… My dad met one of his old classmates from his exchange-studies-time in Russia over 30 years ago, earlier this year… Besides, we have Skype nowadays, right?

Some awesome news by the way: I got a job in Nagano for the winter-break! I will be doing some volunteer-work in a pension over there (at this place: http://en.azekura.com/index.html) and will receive no payment, but free food and accommodation. Will be great to see something new and isolate myself amongst only Japanese people, I hope to improve my Japanese tons during this time! On the downside: it’ll be damn cold! I need to shop for some warm sweaters…didn’t really bring that many…

Well, I feel that I’m still very uninspired, so I’ll just stop here. Hopefully I’ll come out of this uninspired-ness soon and will start blogging more regularly again. Tata for now!

FINALLY!!! The new OVA is out! I just wonder what took them so long? since volume 15 also came with an OVA too … this will a be a normal blog thing as well as a review.

Don’t Haruna and Yui just look plain awesome in thier RPG costumes?

Before I start, the only version I could find for the OVA was RAW so I don’t understand some of what they’re saying, but I understand enough to know what’s going on, I know enough Japanese to get me through. This will be my third time watching this OVA, LOL. I noticed some differences between the OVA and the actual manga, but I’ll get to those as I go along with the review. But this time the lovely screenshots are from the ToloveruLove blog, but the picture above is from Cartoonworld. And as opposed to my normal reviews this one I’ll be diving right into thoughts, but it will be mixed in with a summary. and as a quick warning there are some NSFW screens, but I got rid of some of them.

The episode immediately starts in the 3 part of the arc in the manga or the end of the second part. Haruna(suprisingly) makes the first attack with her sword at the monsters that are attacking her,Yui,Mikan,and Rito.She attacks one of the monsters slicing it in half. Impressed by Haruna’s skills(like the rest of the group) Rito walks over to the over monster and watters him with the only weapon he has, a wattering can. Not seeing Rito as a threat the monster begins to chase Rito around the area. In order to help him out Mikan uses a spell. While the spell was meant for the monster it accidently effects Yui which ends up make her top bust open… Rito looks over and sees as well as the monster, embarassed Yui kicks both Rito and the monster , which ends up leaving the monster defeated.We then get a glimpse of two characters who are looking over the group through a crystal ball. They look over at thier master , who is Magical Flame Kyoko who bathing she gets out and leaves the two”mysterious” people alone.

I just loved the way they’re making this feel like a real RPG with the little boxes appearing telling us the status of the characters or the monsters they’re fighting, it’s really cool and funny. So far I haven’t spotted any notable differneces, but they show up much later in the episode really.

So we suddenly go back to how all of this started out , Rito recives a letter in his shoe locker he opens it and is suddenly transported into the RPG world. There he finds a bunch of characters(with the same design) in bunny suits who welcome him. While he’s there he meets/sees Haruna and Mikan. The bunny girls summon a magical circle which transforms everyone into their RPG costumes.While the 3 are disussing amoungst themselves the situmation that they’re in Yui comes flying through a portal which appears from the ceiling above the three, but she lands on top of Rito with his face planted right under her skirt. Just like the others Yui tranforms into her RPG costume. and the story goes back to the present.

I think that in this area there were alot of differnces. First off Rito had found the note in his schoolbag and not his shoe locker. When he arrived to the RPG world he first appeard in a field, AND THEN Yui landed on top of him, Haruna and Mikan hadn’t been found yet. Rito and Yui arrive in the town AND THEN they find Yui and Mikan, THEN they walk into a building WHERE the bunny girls are AND THEN they get their costumes. Also in the Kyoko scene earlier the two characters just looked like wierd creature in cloaks, they weren’t as identifiable.

As the group of Rito, Mikan, and Yui walk over to the next town in order to rest, Magical Kyoko watches over them. When they arrive in the city they go to a casino where they encounter even more of the bunny girls from earlier. While at the casino the group encounters Risa and Mio who are both classmates and friends of the group. The two spot Haruna and cause Haruna trouble like they normaly do in school by groping her and pulling up her skirt(Risa and Mio never appeard in this arc in the manga).Just like in school Yui yells as the two for thier inappropriate behavior. Rito is on the floor and as Yui is yelling at the two he gets a glimpse of what’s under her dress. But Yui get’s angry and kicks Rito and stomps on him. Risa and Mio run off cheerfuly as usual. The two “mysterious” people are looking at the group again through thier crystal ball. In order to rest the group goes to a hotel where they meet Mikado-sensei(who doesn’t appear in this arc in the manga either.). Later, because Rito wants to give the girls privacy/thier own space, he pulls a couch out from the room and puts it out in the hall outside the room,where he’ll sleep. Haruna comes out with a pillow in order to make him feel more comfortable and walks back inside the room.Yui comes out as well(acting all tsundere might I add XD) for the same reason and gives Rito a pillow angrily(though we know she’s not angry, but embarassed TSUNDERE!!!!).

My Yui love has gone up by who knows how much!!! I never realized until now how Tsundere Yui actually is, at least I think she is … There were changes to the story like I mentioned in () like Risa and Mio do not appear in the manga from I what I remeber and Mikado-sensei doesn’t appear either, and Oshizu in the backround getting tourtured by dogs never appeared in the manga either, but it’s still pretty funny.

While trying to go to sleep Rito finds that Magical Kyoko is sitting right on top of him, just staring at him… Magical Kyoko(from what I can tell) tells Rito that he has to save Lala, Kyoko then blows up part of the building sending Rito flying outside and she begins to escape, but before she escapes she sends the whole group Rito is with to her castle/outside of it. After the transport Rito ends up under Haruna’s skirt this time, and gets stomped on by Yui (of course). They make it inside the castle and meet a bunch of enemy soldier skeletons. Yami (as a bunny girl) appears and defeats all of the monsters(yay Yami-chan!). They continue on in the castle only to find Saki, Rin, Aya, and Run. From what I can tell it seems as though the group may have probably captured Run(maybe). Saki tells Aya to use a spell and attack the group, but it fails blowing all of the girls tops off, which leaves them defeated. Rito and his group mangae to finaly make to Lala but there Magical Kyoko is waiting for them.

Time for some more differnces!!! Runwasn’t with Saki’s group but was by herself hiding somewhere in the manga, and they changed Runs costume as well, pretty minor stuff here though.

However in order to pass by Kyoko Rito must say that he loves Lala. Lala wakes up and Rito walks up to Kyoko and says that he loves her. Lala also mentions that she loves Rito as well. Bored by the sappy moment(I think), Magical Kyoko sends a ball of fire out that traps the whole group(the boss that plays dirty?).

Hmmm yeah, that wa a kind of sappy moment. But I’m sure Rito just said he loved Lala to get things over with,LOL, but Haruna seemed sort of shocked(since she likes Rito and all.). Magical Flame Kyoko is pretty cool, even though she’s straight from Black Cat(which is by the same guy who the To-Love-Ru manga/illustrated)

In order to protect the group Yami attacks Kyoko.It hurts her(or so we think) then her wounds heal. The two “mysterious” people appeae behind Rito and tell him to quickly take out his wattering can and throw water onto the fire. I works creating a huge amount of water which demolishes the fire and weakens Kyoko, Kyoko disappears and is defeated. The two people walk up to the group and take off thier hoods to reveal that they Nana and Momo, Lala’s sisters.

Everything here seemed to pretty go according to the manga, so nothing really changed here. I thought that the action sequence(brief action sequence) was pretty cool and very well animated. And that’s one thing I don’t think I’ve brought up yet, the art and animation is really really good in the OVA episode, better(much) compared to the previous OVAs. I really hope that they can maintain this sort of budget throughout the next two episodes, cuz it looks really good in my opinion, a real step up, especially for XEBEC. Belive it or not the art and animation quality is much better than the first episode of the new negima OAD, WOW.

Whike the group begins to talk amoungst themselves all of a suddenthe castle begins to fall appart, and Magical Kyoko re-apears again, but this time she’s super-sized. Magicak Kyoko decides to get rid of the group and in doing so thier clothes begin to disappear …

Hmmm it seems as though they decided to spare showing us the “details” like the manga had, but I really have nothing against that.

In order to save the group Nana and Momo help out by summoning creatures, Maron, and Celine, both of them attack Magical Kyoko which ends up leaving her defeated. And everything goes back to normal, with Lala watching the Magical Kyoko TV Show.

But all is not normal as Nana(left) and Momo(right) are now living with Rito, Lala, and Mikan.

Well that was very very good! I’m glad that XEBEC is going back to the manga, or at least is trying to, since the 3rd OVA was a completely made up story… but I took a look at the To-Love-Ru website and the next episode will be based off of the chapter, that from what I remeber, is sort of a life with Nana and Momo thing. People are saying that the OVA series may be focused on them, but… I’m hoping that the final episode will be based on the last few chapters of the manga. This episode came out early,more than likely on Amazons part, which if you pre-order omething it may come out earlier/ship out/arrive earlier than the actuall release date, which was supposed to be november 4th tommorow… But the next episode is supposed to come out sometime in February, which it sounds like a long wait, but trust me, it won’t be.

Poor Rito, he kept getting hit by Yui and everything was happening on accident. But I still love Yui~!

But they did a very good job on this episode, the production quality was definately up compared to the previous episodes by far, I originally thought that the colors would be sort of plain like the previous OVAs based on the previews pics I saw for this episode, but it turned out that those were sort of the unfinished products of the episode, since they added lighting and such to the animations. I kind of hoping this will be the same thing for the next episode since it also looks rather plain in color.

But there were alot of extra things in this episode such as characters, and they even removed some things but theu weren’t very important things, which I have no real problem with.

So overall a very good adaption of a very good arc in the manga, definately one of, if not the best OVA episode in the series, can’t wait to see the next episode!

And the OVA came sold with a limited edition version of volume 16, like the past 3 episodes did(starting with 13). And of course it comes with all of the “usual” extras that the To-Love-Ru manga volumes are known for compared to Shounen Jump version. But from what I’ve heard there are to many “extras” in here.

in making new entries. Loved Burning Life this year. Every year those on SL outdo themselves, so this year also was no different. LAGTASTIC!! but fun LOL. I didn’t have a chance to see much, but whatever I looked at was awesome. I did spot Dusty Linden too. WooT! ^^

As you can see I might have been adding to the lag. *gasp* I’m usually careful though, but in our defence we stayed in an isolated spot.

~I started this outfit with this cute top from Humming.  The designer seems to always make one color of her new releases a dollarbie, and this is one of several available in the store.   It comes with two different undershirt color options and prim cuffs and collar. 
~The skirt is from Hodgepodge’s Halloween event.  I saw on plurk that most of the stores are supposed to have gifts, but to be honest, I only found a few.  This skirt from Sh*t Happens was one of them and comes with 2 different skirt options.
~The necklace, which I should have taken a closeup of, is one of the Hodgepodge gifts from Otaku.  It is a really nice sculpted spider. 
~The hair I saw on SL Good Deals.  Gabi had shown a blonde version of this hair, and when I went to check it out, I found this brown version.  There is a small opening hunt going on at the YS-Mall.   The hair has a little bit of an alpha issue, but is a cute style and made me feel a little Audrey Hepburn-ish.
~The decorations, earrings and the sitting poses are from an event going on here.  Random pumpkins pop up and you get a prize when you touch them.  The sitting poses are from Diesel Works and their prize also contains a couples pose and beanbag chairs. 
~The boots and tights are by Duh!   You need to go check out these boots, if you haven’t!  So cute and only 25L per pair or a whole fatpack for only 50L!!
