I’ve been a fan of Linkin Park since their debut album Hybrid Theory and “In the End" but most recently I came across this video in which Mike Shinoda and their drummer Rob Bourdon compose a short track showcasing Pro Tools 8.

I loved the final track (the complete version is here). I browsed through some more stuff and visited Mike’s website and liked his art and the videos/music he has posted. I like the fact that he uses his website to post his artistic creations and videos like this that put a real face on a celebrity and in my opinion, definitely add to his popularity. I’ll be waiting for their next album and if it’s anything like the track above, it’ll surely be one of my favorites.

Майк продолжает нас радовать своим сотрудничеством с DC. На этот раз он ещё и подключил своего одногруппника – Joe Hahn.

По поводу презентации новых тапок был созван целый ивент, на который подтянулись не только фаны DC, а может и не столько DC, cколько фаны LP и самого Майка.

Первое, что бросается в глаза в самих кедах – бирюзовый! Автор блога и сам недавно прикупил ADIO с бирюзовыми шнурками и подошвой, ведь у ADIO кстати целая линия обуви с бирюзовой подошвой есть. Возможно мы говорим о новом хите сезона, а может просто так все совпало, тем не менее новые кеды от Майка Шиноды уже ждут – SURU x Mike Shinoda x DC Shoes MSDC Xander.

Análise: Primeiro single do álbum “808s & Heartbreak” do rapper Kanye West, lançado em Setembro de 2008. Fala sobre o sofrimento do rapper com a separação de sua esposa, a designer Alexis Phifer.

Acho que o Kanye tem algo meio voyeur, querendo sempre enxergar como se tivesse espiando por persianas com este óculos…

É uma canção muito interessante em vários aspectos. Primeiro, tudo é baseado no fim do casamento do rapper com Alexis. Pra começar o clipe. West está choramingando pelos cantos, enquanto tribos aparecem “dançando” e etc. Uma espécie de confusão mental por excesso de tristeza.

Depois a letra, choro e choro (o que não é usual para um rapper). Aí o que mais é inovador e interessante é que é uma música “cantanda”. Não tem rap, é canto. Tá bem, Kanye usou o auto-tune (a ferramenta master de quem não sabe cantar e nem tá perto disso), mas não deixa de ser algo interessante. Kanye fez uma espécie de rap-emo ou coisa do tipo. É como se o Mike Shinoda do Linkin Park resolvesse ouvir Fresno ou NX Zero.

As batidas iniciais lembram um coração descompassado, o que deve representar o que Kanye estava sentindo. O piano é intimista e invocado ao mesmo tempo, e por fim, batidas tribais. A impressão que dá é que Kanye resolveu afogar as mágoas na Bahia e acabou ouvindo o Olodum em algum lugar. Como é o Brasil, e quase todo mundo fora dele pensa que aqui é só índio e mato, a parte das batidas são representadas por índios africanos (hauahuahaa…).

Enfim, o clipe é bem feito e interessante. Kanye canta em vez de fazer rap, com a voz modificada pelo auto-tune, que só costuma estragar as vozes. Kanye canta com a voz estragada e soa melhor do que fazendo rap com a voz normal. Que contra-senso!

It’s been revealed that DC and Mike Shinoda have teamed up once again on their fourth version of the Remix Series. This time the shoes will be sold exclusively at SURU in Los Angeles in limited numbers. For this collaboration the DC’s Xander model shoe last was created from ground up by Shinoda that features a new black/blue colorway and SURU logos on the heel, tongue, lateral side and insole. With combination of leather and synthetic fabrics highlighted by key blue accents on pipings as well as crystal clear outsole that shows off artwork by Shinoda.

Limited to 500 pairs and available exlusively at SURU from November 20th until December 20th then there after it will be openly distributed to select premium retail stores.

ÜKs mu lemmikumaid kunstnikke (ja ka muusikuid), Mike Shinoda, suutis taaskord korraldada oma näituse, kus peateemadeks olid kuulsused ja nende pahed. Glorious Excesse (Dies) oli järg Glorious Excess (Born) näitusele.

Glorious Excess (Dies) leidis aste Jaapani Ameerika Rahvusmuuseumis. Mike Shinoda tööd sarnanesid osaliselt esimese näitusega, kuid olid natukene värvikamad ning kasutatud oli heledamaid toone.

Linkin Park’s resident rapper, Mike Shinoda, is more than just a rapper who never swears. He’s an accomplished painter, and also does some remixing, too.

Recently, Shinoda remixed Metric’s “Gold Guns Girls” for a preview video for his Glorious Excess (Dies) exhibit. That remix is now available for download from his website, mikeshinoda.com. You can listen to the remix below.

The new Mike Shinoda “Glorious Excess (Dies)” exhibition will be opening soon at the Japanese American National Museum. We get a nice preview of the works on display. He is a graphic artist and illustrator who studied at ArtCenter. also known for works used by Lincoln Park and Fort Minor. This exhibition focuses on a “thought provoking a look at the life (and death) of celebrity through paparazzi” (Highsnobiety).

Perhaps the most ironic part of the night was right after coming out of the video installation portion of the show, which was essentially about the perils of “society’s obsession with celebrity culture”… something snapped and I finally realized the guy I saw outside was Emile Hirsch (pictured above eating Kogi), proceeded to have a little freak out and began snapping pictures of him.

in the same manner, when I first got the invite for the event, we unknowingly sang Mike Shinoda to My Sharona…. when I got to the event, TrueMee was like “you didn’t know?”. What I also didn’t know was that “the guy from linkin park” and I shared the love of defacing celebrities, skulls, coffins, tentacles and bright colors. who knew. More pictures on our Flickr set. Glorious Excess (Dies) is on till Oct 4th. While you’re there, also check out the Kokeshi exhibit it’s delightful.

Wow, Mike Shinoda is talented. Nicole and I made it to the opening night of his painted/instillation/mixed media art show at JANM. The show was part two of his Glorious Excess project, which he put together as a critique of the way we as a society worship, glorify, pick apart, and discard celebrities and the lifestyles we expect them to live. You should all check it out.

Of course, we stopped at Daikokuya for some dinner first. Tasty.

We got there 45 minutes early, and the line was already crazy!

This pic is somewhat awkward.. but at least I have proof that I met him!
