Luxury, nostalgic romanticism, gender ambiguity and military references are at the forefront of the season; alongside sexual/fetish nuances, utilitarian sportswear, retro inspired fashions and an array of subcultural references that include the mods, glam rockers, bikers, gypsies, goths and punks – all done within a very majestic, cinematic and futuristic capacity. Fur/hair, leather, suede, wool, mohair, cashmere, silk/chiffon and floral/animal prints are at the spearhead of the season, alongside neoprene, vinyl, velvet, taffeta, lace and waxed cotton; with an emphasis on embroidery, embellishments, cable knits, cutwork, tartan, vintage, houndstooth and herringbone textiles. Super-exaggerated shoulders and hips, oversized/rounded/square/boxy forms, graphic cuts and nipped-in waists define the silhouettes, with strong power dressing connotations juxtaposed against a masculine intonation, thus directing comfort, relaxation and ease, yet sex appeal. İtalya turunda 9 kişiydik, evet sığmıyoruz çekirge sürüsü gibiyiz. Her gezimizde olaylar olaylar… bitmek bilmiyor. Düşündük ki madem şehirlerarası geçişlerde internetten biletleri alamıyoruz hem de kalabalığız, araba kiralayalım dedik. 9 kişiye tır lazım ama biz 2 arabayla işi hallettik. Arabaya bindiğimiz anda başladı maceramız, navigasyon cihazı almak için AVM’ye geçelim dedik de yolu bulamadık tekrar havaalanına dönüp cihaz kiraladık ne de olsa aynı fiyata diye akıllılık edecektik güya…

İlk durağımız: Milan

Modanın hakim olduğu şık ve güzel bir yerdi. Trafik yoğunluğunun, yol çalışmalarının ve geç yönlendiren navigasyonumuzun sayesinde sıkışık anlar yaşamadık değil. Zaten Milan’da merkezinde Duomo katedrali var bir de biraz uzakta heykelleriyle ünlü mezarlık (Cimitero Monumentale di Milano). Mezarlığa giremedik kapalıydı ne yazık ki… Akşam olmadan yola koyulduk–>

İkinci durağımız: Venedik

Venedik, venezia, venice… gece varmıştık Venediğin sınırlarına. Hemen gelişi güzel arabaları park edip şehre daldık, hayat yavaşlamıştı ama hala akıyordu. Kanalların üzerinden ve dar sokaklardan geçerken bakmaya doyamadığım bir hali vardı. Biraz dolanıp arabalara döndük. Yakın bir yerde de park bulduk güzelce doğanın içinde sessiz temiz… Boşuna kiralamadık arabaları aynı zamanda bizim evimiz oldu (: Hayatımda ilk kez arabada uyudum yani sabahladım. Aslında çok yorgunduk baygın düştük desem yeridir. Kolay değil şimdi arkada 3 kız oturur halde uyumak ayakları uzatamamak ağrılar uyuşmalar karıncalanmalar… güne hazırlık olayımız AVM lavobalarında oluyordu.. Aynı zamanda kahvaltılık yolluk malzemelerimizi de alıyorduk. Venedik sıcaktı gerçekten, anlatılmaz yaşanır dediklerimizden. Sokaklarda arabaların olmaması ve rahat rahat yürümek, yaya başkenti burası. Margarita pizzamızı da yedik hediyelerimizi ve tabi ki maskelerimizi de aldık. İkinci akşamı da burda geçirdik ve sabah çıktık yola.

Bolognaya uğradık yol üstünde, olmasa da olurdu zaten planımızda yoktu. Planımızda olsaydı yol kenarı olarak kalırdı. Buraya durak demiyorum da indi-bindi olsun hadi.

Üçüncü durağımız: Floransa

Floransa’da arabayla şehir merkezine girmek yasakmış,para cezası varmış (yabancı araçlar için). Biz bilmiyorduk tabiki.. Firenze de Milan gibi kalabalık karışıktı. İki gün de buradaydık güzelce sindire sindire bazen de kaybolarak gezdik bu şehri ve en son tepesinden manzarayı seyrederek noktaladık. Birkaç sahne:

Dördüncü durağımız: Pisa

Pisa kulesi zaten garip garip fotoğraflar çekinmek için bir yer. Etrafında daire çizip fotoğraf albümü oluşturduktan sonra yağmurun da başlamasıyla arabalara dönüp başkente çevirdik rotamızı…

Son durak: Roma

Roma’ya gece varmıştık. Bir şehre gece gitmek ışıkların senfonisini izlemek beni her zaman heyecanlandırır. Gündüz o binaların her ne kadar güzel olsa da kara kuru görüntüleri bir süre sonra sıkmaya başlar. Hem gece gündüzün habercisidir. Collesium’du ilk gördüğümüz yakınında uyuduğumuz ama uyanınca yanına uğramadan başka yerlere gittiğimiz.

Vatikan’ı görmeye gittik ilk önce, hep o filmlerde adı geçen, gizemli güçlü olan… Dışarıdan sade ama içeriden süslü halini izledik. En tepesine çıkıp ayaklarımız altındaki Roma’ya baktık. Bir iki saat sonra Vatikan’ı o suspus heykelleri ve tarihiyle geride bırakmıştık.

Roma’yı gezmek kolay değildi. Her sokakta tarihin bir kesiti vardı, binalarda parklarda çeşmelerde… heykeller her yerdeydi ama öyle süslü bir haldeydiler ki sanki bir tabloya bakıp da anlamaya çalışıyorduk.. çeşmeyi izliyoruz normal değil, denizi dağı nehri değil çeşmeyi.. O kadar para atıp da dilek tuttuk bakalım olacak mı ((: kalabalık gezmenin verdiği eğlence ayrıydı ama kötü tarafları da vardı tabi ki; beklemek, bekletmek, kaybolmak… Her şeye rağmen Roma’yı alt üst ettik birçok yerini gezdik de denize girmeye zamanımız olmadı ona üzülüyorum. Makarnamızı ve pizzamızı hiç eksik etmedik.

Roma’dan Milan’a geri dönerken 7günü çoktan bitirmiştik ve 3 kişiyi Polonya’ya geri yollamıştık. Milan’da arabalarımızı da teslim ettikten sonra ikinci ülkedeydi sıra. Gezi bitmek bilmiyordu tam bir final olacaktı bizim için.

Sırada Fransa,Paris vardı. Paris’e ulaşmıştık ama İtalya’nın ardından çok da tın oldu resmen. Louvre müzesi ve Eiffel kulesi dışında eğlendiğim bir yeri olmadı. Louvre’u gezmeye zaman yeter mi orada tarihi yaşamak hissetmek lazım ama bizde zaman az olduğu için doyamadım oraya. Eiffel uzaktan güzeldi, tam altına gelince metal yığını oluyor gerçekten görsellik gidiyor ama tepesine çıkıp gece manzaraya bakmak hatta gece Eiffele bakmak şehri güzelleştiren tek şey diyebilirim.

10 günlük bir gezi yapmıştık. Aslında çok keyifli zamanlarımız var ama sanırım keyfi grup içinde kalıyor dışarıya çıkınca sadece bir tebessüm (:

Finali bomba gibi bitirdik, yorgunluk değildi bende ki keyifti hem de fazlasıyla keyifti. Ve ilk sırayı Roma aldı, gözümü boyadı evet..

Pada pembukaan transfer musim dingin lalu, masih ingat dalam ingatan bagaimana dua pemain Brasil, Robinho dan Alexandre Pato dilego oleh Milan. Namun hingga menjelang titik terakhir pasar transfer ditutup, hanya nama Pato yang laku dan kini bergabung bersama Corinthians.

Kini selama kurang dari enam bulan, Robinho yang gagal dijual, mendapatkan jatah bermain yang kurang. Dia kalah bersaing dengan para pemain muda, seperti Stephan El Shaarawy, Mario Balotelli, atau M’Baye Niang dlam mengisi lini dobrak Milan.

Pemain yang telah menginjak usia 29 tahun ini kembali merasakan gerahnya duduk di bangku cadangan dan diisukan bakal meninggalkan San Siro di akhir musim ini. Namun Galliani menganggap, bahwa Robinho tidak akan kemana-mana.

“Robinho masih memiliki kontrak dengan Milan dan bakal terus bertahan. Dia tidak akan kemana-mana. Memang segalanya masih mungkin terjadi, tapi pada prinsipnya dia harus bermain terus untuk Milan,” ucap Galliani, kepada Radio Gaucha, Minggu (19/5/2013).

“Internacional tertarik dengannya? Saya menyadari hal itu, tapi sekarang kami hanya memikirkan nasib Milan yang tengah berjuang memastikan diri ke Liga Champions musim depan,” tandas pria berkepala plontos itu.

Namun, saat bertanding ke markas Siena, pelatih Massimiliano Allegri tak bisa membawa gelandang enerjik, Kevin Prince-Boateng karena mengalami cedera lutut. Sedangkan Sulley Ali Muntari juga harus absen, lantaran dilarang tampil karena kartu merah yang didapatinya pada saat menghadapi AS Roma akhir pekan lalu.

Tetapi Allegri patut beruntung, sebab di giornata terakhir dia masih bisa kembali menurunkan playmaker Riccardo Montolivo. Mantan pemain Fiorentina yang absen saat melawan Roma, kini telah pulih dari cedera paha yang dideritanya pada pekan lalu.

Pada laga ini, Milan harus menang, karena apabila seri atau kalah, sementara La Viola berhasil mengalahkan tuan rumah Pescara, maka Fiorentina lah yang berhak meraih tiket terakhir Liga Champions. Sebab jika dua tim memiliki poin sama di akhir kompetisi, maka bakal dilihat dari head-to-head kedua tim. Sayangnya dari dua pertemuan, Milan harus kalah, karena di pertemuan pertama, Fiorentina berhasil mengalahkan Rossoneri 3-1, sedangkan di Artemi Franchi, kedua tim bermain imbang.

“Kami punya keunggulan dua poin dari Fiorentina dan tentunya kami telah melakukan lebih baik dari mereka. Ini terasa menyakitkan bahwa satu dari dua tim gagal lolos ke Liga Champions,” ucap Allegri, seperti dilansir Football-Italia, Minggu (19/5/2013).

“La Viola bermain sepakbola yang bagus, tapi olahraga ini adalah tentang hasil. Anda hanya bisa menang satu atau dua pertandingan, tapi kemudian anda membangun sesuatu yang besar dari jalan yang anda lakukan. Di Italia ada obsesi dengan taktik, anda bisa menang, meski bermain buruk,” sambungnya.

Allegri menyadari bahwa tensi pertandingan sangat tinggi baik dari posisi timnya, begitu juga dengan Siena yang notabene nya telah aman dari zona degradasi. Menurut mantan pelatih Cagliari itu, tuan rumah juga masih butuh kemenangan.

Namun Allegri tak mau pemainnya terlena dengan situasi itu, dia menegaskan kalau Siena berpotensi memunculkan kejutan yang bisa berujung hasil pahit berupa kegagalan main di Liga Champions.

“Siena tak akan merasa tertekan atau kecewa (setelah dipastikan terdegradasi), karena mereka akan punya keinginan meraih hasil bagus dan meninggalkan Seri A dengan kepala tegak. Pemain (Milan) punya pekan yang hebat untuk mempersiapkan diri untuk pertandingan ini,” sahut Allegri di Football Italia.

Kekalahan atas Siena sementara La Viola sukses menundukkan Pescara akan membuat Milan cuma berlaga di Liga Europa musim depan.

“Siena ingin mengakhiri musim dengan baik. Mereka mampu merepotkan Napoli pekan lalu dan kami harus bekerja dengan baik untuk tetap berkonsentrasi penuh selama 90 menit,” tandas Allegri.

I GOT TO SEE MY MUMMA!

So my mumma came to visit me in Italy and it has been three months since I last saw her, so you can imagine how excited I was when I picked her up at the airport! She flew in to Milan with beautiful weather and a huge smile on her face to see me, I may have started crying at the airport when I saw her (Don’t laugh, reunions are emotional!).

After bringing her back to my apartment I gave her a quick tour before taking her out for her first Italian Pizza!

And it was a huge hit!

We had an early night to prepare for our trip to Lake Como the next day and awoke to rain, wind and really cold temperatures. Yay! We headed on the train to Lake Como and finally arrived about an hour earlier to this beautiful view:

We walked around for a few hours taking in this beautiful place, checking out the sites and indulging in some brie and parma ham paninis and delicious gelato!

We really wanted to go on a boat tour of the lake and check out George Clooneys house but unfortunately it was too windy and cold to go on a boat on the lake. I guess Clooney will just have to wait another day! We went back to Milan and I took mum to my favourite restaurant, The Kitchen, and we indulged in some delicious Italian pasta. It has been really nice to show my mum the places in Milan where I hang out, eat, have fun. It has been really great to show her the life I have built here and what makes it.

The next day we went to the beautiful city of Venice, it was just as lovely as the last time I went.

Possibly the most beautiful place on earth!

We stopped and dropped our bags off at the hotel and then spent the rest of the day and night exploring the city. We went and saw the lovely Rialto Bridge, San Marco Square, St Marks Basilica and rode a Gondola through the canals and under the Bridge of Sighs.

I love Venice!

After exploring the city I made mum try my absolute favourite Italian food, Gnocchi ai Quattro Formaggi. Needless to say it was a huge hit and I am so glad that I got somebody else hooked on it as well! We then headed back to the hotel with full bellies and very sore feet. But we had some strawberries and wine and our feet felt a lot better!

The next day we headed to the train station to leave for Florence and instead got very lost very fast!

We managed to make it just in time for the train to Florence thank god! We arrived and checked into our hotel, which was absolutely beautiful!

Not even kidding, this was the ceiling of our hotel!

We went for a walk that afternoon and first thing we did was step into a piazza where there was a cheese and meat market happening. With free samples. Of everything. I’m sorry, can somebody say HEAVEN?!

This is pure happiness, right here.

Gimme gimme more, gimme, gimme gimme more

We had a great time walking through the markets and sampling everything on display. Who needs lunch at a restaurant when you can just take a stroll through here?

We walked across one of the bridges to the other side of Venice and had dinner at this pizza place, Muna, recommended to us by the owners of the hotel. They said it would be the best pizza that we would ever have. They were not mistaken, the pizza was incredible! If you go to Florence definitely go here, and I recommend the potato and sausage pizza, it was so yummy. The restaurant itself was also really cool and had really cheap cocktails!

After a good night of sleep we were up bright and early to explore the rest of Florence. First we walked to the Santa Maria del Fiore, which is the biggest Cathedral in Florence.

I even touched the Fontana del Porcellino, which is a hog statue with a gold nose that you rub for good luck. So the good luck I missed out on in Prague (see here) I made up for in Florence!

We stopped for gelato in a gelateria also recommended to us by the hotel owners, and after the success of the pizza the night before we were not going to be turning down any recommendation. The gelato was so good, I am so glad that I finally get to share my gelato addiction with my mumma!

After walking around for hours already we still had four hours to kill, what better way to kill time than drink wine?

I got it from my mumma! Good life decision for sure!

We left Florence at 9pm on the train with a whole heap of water and a pack of 99 cent coconut lemon bites for dinner. Yes, we were quite ubriaco! We ran into a little bit of a roadblock on the train when the guard came around to check our tickets and I had the wrong date listed on the tickets because I must have accidentally booked it for the wrong day. The guard was standing there yelling in Italian that the ticket was not valid whilst my mother and I were staring blankly up at him, unsure of what to do, I think that the wine might have had something to do with that. I started speaking in very exaggerated English saying that I didn’t know how to speak italian and that my mum and I were very confused and not sure what to do. He looked at us completely confused, said he would check out the ticket and come back. He said this all in Italian but I could understand him (even though he didn’t know that!). We waited five, ten, fifteen minutes and he still hadn’t come back. I was getting more relaxed whereas mum was getting more nervous the longer he was gone! Forty minutes later the train pulled up at the station, my mum and I took one look  at each other and jumped off the train and booked it all the way out of the station, avoiding any guards along the way. We emerged out of the station laughing and triumphant, turns out being confused tourists who can’t speak italian works well sometimes! Also wine seems to help too in making good life decisions!

The next couple of days I showed my mum around Milan to all the places where I eat, go to school, have fun, do all the things that make my life in Milan so fun. We had panzerotti’s from Luinis, went to the top of the Duomo, visited Cattolica, had an aperitivo in Navigli at Manhattan, had panini’s by the Arce della Pace, got a gelato from Cioccolati Italiani, walked through Parco Sempione and went shopping in all the amazing designer stores (Not that either one of us actually bought anything!).

It was so nice to not just show mum Milan but my life in Milan, and I am so happy that someone has finally got to see what I am talking about when I tell them about my life!

Next stop with my mumma: Ireland to visit the family and celebrate my Grandparents 60th Wedding Anniversary! Should be good and very classy indeed!

In April 2013 I was invited on board the good ship Hansard to accompany Glen and his band around Italy for a few days while touring Italy in Europe to promote his debut solo album, Rhythm And Repose. Created over a year and a half while living in New York City, Rhythm And Repose was recorded by Patrick Dillett (David Byrne, Arto Lindsay, Laurie Anderson) and produced by Thomas Bartlett (Doveman, The National, Antony and the Johnsons) and is Glen’s first release since The Swell Season’s Strict Joy (2009).
