I am so incredibly busy right now! No time for blogging. We are in the last 2 weeks of rehearsing for the Christmas musical at church. This of course, means that the person in charge of painting the set (yours truly) better get her tail in gear and finish things up! I am also a vocalist in the show, so I have no spare time right now.

We did take the time to have 2 wonderful Thanksgivings! We are so blessed to have the best (and funniest) families in the world. I won’t have much time to blog for the next couple of weeks, so here’s the run down–

-Miles’ eye looks great and is healing nicely.

-His MRI to check for a tethered spinal cord is set for December 8th.

-He is still not pulling up to stand at ALL.

-His new favorite words are, “Abi”, “sit down”,and “George”

-Greta got a new haircut

-Charlie Brown is finished.

-Miles and Mom had a not so fun trip to the ER (nothing serious, just annoying)

I can guarantee that I will be neglecting my blog. Please accept these photos as a peace offering

Rescuers work at the site of a train derailment, about 400 km (250 miles) northwest of Moscow.

The ‘Nevsky Express’ train carrying hundreds of passengers from Moscow to St. Petersburg derailed killing dozens of people and injuring dozens more in Tver Region, Russia, on November 28, 2009.

Four cars derailed.

A bomb attack caused the crash, which killed up to 39 people and injured nearly 130.

The health minister said that the 18 people listed as missing after the incident had not been located in the three car that went off the tracks.

In August 2007, an explosion derailed the same express train on the same railroad line, injuring 60 people. An investigation into that attack continues, with the main suspect still being sought by authorities.

The disaster has fueled fears of a rise in terrorist attacks outside Russia’s volatile North Caucasus region. Russia was hit hard by terrorism in the 1990s and the early years of this decade, but there had been no major incident outside the North Caucasus region since 2004.

Also was tun?

Soviel also zur Ausgangslage.

i know this is past due. i wonder if you guys have been wondering if i had gotten a *GASP* D.N.F. this past sunday. but i want to tell you that yes i finished, i respectfully crossed the finish line in 3 hours 58 minutes and 42 seconds. i’m happy to have at least gotten my time under 4 hours. i’m not surprised per se that i didn’t achieve my goal of qualifying for boston. of course i’m a little disappointed but i DID cut 22 minutes off my time from last year or about 50 seconds per minute running. my pace this year ended up being around 9:06 minute miles. i’m really pleased that i snuck in under 4 hours. it really makes me feel like i’ve made some real improvements in my running and endurance in the last year. now on to the play by play!

it was pretty awesome weather on sunday. so much of an improvement from the 2008 marathon which was FREEZING! i wore 3/4 length spandex and a tshirt with a cotton shirt over it and a pair of cheap running gloves. i also wore a water bottle strapped around my waist. my plan was that i could ditch the long sleeve shirt along the road as i warmed up. this way i wouldn’t be uncomfortable standing in my corale and i would also be making a clothing donation to those in need in philadelphia since race volunteers pick up all the discarded clothes along the course and donate them to charities and shelters =) i ditched the shirt maybe 9 minutes into the marathon haha it was too warm for that extra layer or at least it wasn’t cold enough to be wearing it. at this point in the race i was running with the 3:40 clif bar pacing group. i felt strong but it was really crowded around the pacing guys. i stayed with the group for the first 10 miles or so and theeeeeeeeen i started getting tired. i started falling further and further behind the pacing group. i was still doing ok on time according to my watch. i was less than a minute behind pace. but that time just kept getting looonger and loooonger.

as i came through the half way point i was about 3 minutes behind pace. i saw my dad and my brother in law, john. i was still feeling ok but a little nervous about the minutes that were creeping in between me and my goal time. as i headed out to manayunk i started thinking it wasn’t going to happen. when i got into manayunk my friends were there cheering. i’m so lucky i have friends who are willing to get up early on a sunday morning to see me run by =) i ran down to the turn-around point and on my way back andrew was kind enough to join me for the last 6 miles. i picked him up right at the 20 mile marker. i’m pretty sure those last 6 miles were my slowest. i felt like the mile markers were surprisingly far from eachother and i started forgetting exactly where i was in the course. when i came up to the mile 22 marker i was sure i was supposed to be at 23. i was really happy to have someone running with me…even though we didn’t talk….even though when andrew did try and talk i just kinda looked at him and grunted =)

andrew dropped out about 3/4 of a mile before the finish line. shortly after i saw my dad and john again. i was tracking my time on my watch and i was really really gunning for sub four at this point. i felt like i was sprinting i also felt like i was running on a conveyer belt going in the opposite direction. they had changed the finish line this year and i had to run further once i got to the art museum than i had last year. when i ran over the 26 mile marker painted on the road i couldn’t even see the finish line. and trust me when you’ve done 26 the .2 DOES seem like a lot more to ask. however its also the most adrenaline filled .2 miles you’ll ever run. especially in the philadelphia marathon where the spectators form basically a chute giving you only a few feet to run through. having that many people screaming and cheering WILL motivate you to high tail it across that finish line.

i was really happy to be done and i was proud to have improved my time so much. i was happy i had so many people who love me to come out and see me run AND i was happy i was going to be on vacation for the rest of the week! right after i met up with my friends who had booked it from manayunk to the finish line to see me finish and my sister cate, my brother in law panos and mia and luke were there too! it was a great way to start m vacation and even though i didn’t qualify for boston i felt like the hard work and time i’ve put into training this year had paid off.

i don’t have any pictures myself but i’ll get anything my friends/family have and update you all. i just wanted to let you all know how it had gone and thank you for following my journey for the last few months.

this morning i ran in the turkey trot in philly. it was the first time i had exercised since the marathon and i felt surprisingly awesome. i finished the 5 mile run in just under 43 minutes. i was happy to have such an awesome run. but i think something i’m going to focus on in the next few months is expanding my exercise horizons. so really what i’m saying is NOW WHAT?! what do you guys think i should do?!

i hope you all had fantastic thanksgivings. =) i’ll talk to you soon

Up at 6 for a 6:15 am 3.6 mile run through the neighborhoods. Thanksgiving (and Christmas) morning’s are the best to run as there is no traffic at all. I could have, and did, run right down the middle of the streets. Temperature was 32 degrees and the wind was a cold NW one.
