Halloween is almost upon us, here are a few ideas that may make the season a little more enjoyable for you (and everyone else):

Dress Up or You’re Out-of-Luck

Look, I don’t want to be a dick, but street clothes and a pillow case do not constitute a costume. For that matter neither do school sports uniforms, cheerleader outfits, hooded sweatshirts or concert t-shirts. Do something, have an imagination. I understand that there are limitations, creativity, finances, unruly teen angst, whatever (keep in mind I’m talking about the kids that are 13-? , not the little ones).

Here are some ideas that are fast, cheap, and will show that you at least attempted to get in the spirit of things:

Mummy

White Party Streamers – That’s it, you can wear light colored clothes underneath or paint the exposed areas of you face if you want. Wrap yourself in party streamers and I’ll give you candy.

iPod Ad

Black shirt, black pants, black hat (pulled down, or paint your face) and a piece of poster board. You don’t even need the ipod, paint the box of raisins that my neighbor gave you last year. I’ll give you an extra piece of candy if you strike a pose, show some enthusiasm, this is supposed to be fun.

Facebook Wall

A piece of poster board and a couple of markers, it’s that easy.
Cardboard = Candy. Just don’t go on and on telling me about your latest Mafia Wars mission, Farmville accomplishment or Farkle score, I don’t care (no one does).

Poopy Candy

This is what we always called candy corn, bottle caps, smarties, etc. The stuff you tried to pawn off on your brother to get an extra peanut butter cup. Poopy Candy as a concept can help fight the urge to eat as much candy as you pass out. If you’ve been a reader of this blogg, you know I’ve been trying to watch what I eat. I know that I will not be able to restrain myself, so I am buying MilkyWay mini bars to hand out. I’d rather eat cat poop than a MilkyWay, but others seem to like them and they are not Poopy Candy.

Maintain Low Tones

I get it, you’re out of the house. No matter where you go or what the occasion happens to be there always seems to be someone who feels the need to broadcast their good-time with a “Whoo!” Not to be confused with cheering for a team or at a sporting event, Whooing can happen anywhere and for any reason. Don’t be a Whooer, it’s obnoxious. If you are a habitual Whooer, for Halloween only, I have an out for you. You need to dress as Ric Flair, the Nature Boy (for those of you unfamiliar with who Ric Flair is, you’re probably not the Whooer anyway). The only requirement of the Flair costume other than the Whoo is the strut, it’s essential.

So, I hope this helps.

1. Put a costume on your kids before sending them to my house
2. Buy candy you don’t like so you won’t eat it
3. Rustle up a bedazled bathrobe, blond wig and Whooooo away!

3. champola pop pop – parang pumutok (pumutok nga ba o kumpul-kumpol lamang) na rice crispies na binalutan ng tsokolate. tingnan ang hitsura dito. madali naman itong kainin kaya madali ring maubos! haha. ok lang naman ang lasa ng tsokolate. abot-kaya rin.

4. goya crispy chocs – rice crispies din ito na binalutan ng tsokolate pero paisa-isa kaya matagal kainin at nguyain. tingnan dito ang hitsura. tuwang tuwa siguro ang mga kambing at napakaenvironmental friendly nitong pagkain na ito! ahehehe. naaalala ko tuloy ang nestle raisinets. speaking of raisinets, ang pangit ng mascots nila. ahaha tingnan dito.

paboritong tsokolate? haha nagkakasundo kami ng tatay ko sa hilig namin sa tsokolate pero magkaiba kami ng paborito. sa kanya ay baby ruth na hindi ko gusto dahil may mani. ako, milkyway. malambot kasi at kinakain ko na ito noong buhay pa ang nanay ko. SARAP!!!

Now, you suddenly realize that you have been living in Milkyway for a considerable amount of time yourself. So you really wont be reading anything that tell you how to do the same. I am sure that you trust me not to write anything which is so incredibly useless. (Although the fact is that, it being so incredibly useless and pointless creates a urge in me to actually write it).

One problem here. My turning 25 has nothing to do with you. So, you’ve go to know that you are absolutely right. It has absolutely nothing to do with you. It is my blog so it has to do with me. And since it is my ‘birthday’ it is a <quote>  big deal <unquote> for me. And since you have already been through an exorbitant amount of stupid random crap I trust you to keep on reading further.

Damn! I was really not waiting for this day to come. I always thought that I will be God till the time I turn 25. Come on, how much time can it take for one to become God.

Sadly I am not very much close to my expectations. Now I have to think about my life after 25 . sigh!

This advert is almost retro at this stage but it is still one of my favourites. I remember the ad from when I was a child and I was obsessed with it. Now as an adult I think that this advert definitely had an impact on my decision to pursue a career in advertising, the idea is so simple, the humour is timeless and lets not forget the choreography. It helps that the ad is selling a pretty tasty product too. Kit Kat have run with the same tag line for years and done lots of good stuff with it, but dancing pandas is by far my favourite. There is some work in my portfolio that I completed with another art director working with the now iconic tag line ‘have a break…’ and it is such a nice line to work with, the TV concepts we came up with are very different to this so feel free to take a look and let me know what you think

Speaking of old adverts, I have noticed a huge increase in the number of brands which have been using their older adverts in recent months, e.g. Rowntrees wine gums and Persil on TV, Cadburys Caramel in outdoor and print and most notably Guinness with their recent advertising activity. I was surprised and delighted when I saw this advert on TV this morning and was immediately transported back to my childhood. I haven’t seen Milkyway run any adverts at all since this (or else my memory fails me, fell free to correct me). Here it is for you all to enjoy.

Had a busy day yesterday, my friends came over then a trip to flagstaff mountain to take some photos (non of which I really like!?) then eventualy make it down to the dark site in deer trail. The sky conditions where bad, and it was no shock when we finally found the place there was not too much to look at. We stuck around for a few moments to see if anyone was there at the site and figured no one was there so we headed back. On the way out, the clouds did part for a short time so we pulled off the side of the road to take a look. The view was beautiful, the milkyway was visable, there where a ton of stars in the sky. It took a short bit to locate things because there were so many stars. Once I found a “sign post” things where pretty easty to find. The Milkyway streatched from Sagittarius to Cassiopeia and showed a buldge into Ophiuchus. Really wish I had my camera, but the main goal was to actualy find the place.

Once again I’ve taken part in Hello Blog’s poll which outlines H!P popularity.  This year it was a ranking of all the girls in H!P before April 1st – so the elder club was included.

Once again I acted on impulse, thinking (wrongly or rightly) to rank the girls I liked right at this very moment, and this is what it has resulted in – a mish-mash of Morning Musume past and present members and… Yuu Kikkawa (?).  No Melons, Berryz or C-ute more notably, despite the fact I like them, I’ve never seen their personalities as much as the MM girls, so here I’ll make my justifications!

 1.  Hitomi “Yossie” Yoshizawa: Yossie has always been a favourite of mine, mainly due to her tomboyish persona and also due to her qualities as the leader of Morning Musume.  I was expecting since she left that my liking would wain, but it hasn’t at all.  Yossie’s appearances at concerts, on TV and in other interviews is still bursting with charisma, and whats more, she’s now part of the HANGRY & ANGRY duo – please come to England Yossie!  I’ll support you!

2. Reina Tanaka: Reina is my favourite in the current MM line up – I’m not quite sure why – maybe because I adore her hair and sense of style… I know, it’s a really rubbish reason.  She’s oen of the most high profile members of Morning Musume also, taking the lead in most songs along with Ai and getting to be centre in the dances, and I’ve really enjoyed reading her 5 star translations – especially recently where she’s admitted about the initial tension two years ago when Jun Jun and Lin Lin joined.  Her honesty and self awareness of her own ignorance really made me a feel like she was a real person, and respect her a little bit more.

3. Mari Yaguchi: Mari has always made me laugh.  Type her name into YouTube and just watch the hilarious clips of her come up.  She’s stylish, small and has a lot to say for herself, but only through reading her blog, do you realise what an Otaku Mari is.  Seishun Boku was also an awesome single, and I hope she has many more chances to release songs now she’s out of the Elders clutches.

4. Jun Jun:From seeing her sing FurusatoJun Jun has always been a favourite – how can you dislike someone who dresses up as a panda.  Regardless of this, I think she has a lot of talent, which will hopefully be utilised more by H!P.  I remember seeing her in an interview for Resonant Blue last year where she would randomly burst out with sentences.  She’s really funny

5. Ai Takahashi: The most noticeable thing from Morning Musume’s Spring 2008 tour was how much work Ai does compared to the rest of the girls.  Ai has been very busy from last year with musicals, dramas, sub-units, and is now the leader of Hello! Project.  Multi-talented and the best vocalist in Morning Musume, I hope she has a successful solo career when she finally graduates.

6. Koharu Kusumi:A year ago, Koharu would have been the very last person on my list, but recently, I’ve started to love her more.  She can’t sing, her dancing is awkward, and she talks as if she’s still recording Kirarin Revolution, but she’s an idol, and that’s all that matters.  It will be strange to see what happens to Koharu in the next year now Kirarin Revolution is over, but hopefully H!P will give her some more solo work so she can entertain us some more!

7. Nozomi Tsuji: Nono seemed to fade into non-existence after her pregnancy was announced, and I didn’t particularly care as she never stood out much for me.  However, as my dislike for Ai Kago has strengthened, Nono has shot up in popularity with me.  Her blog is – hilarious – okay a little too much information about the process of giving birth, but I’ve never seen so many pictures in my life!  I really hope she continues to work as an idol after graduating from Hello! Project, as, even as a mother, she makes a great one!

8. Miki Fujimoto:Miki is probably the best singer in H!P, with Aya Matsuura coming a close second.  Despite her last single being really rubbish, she remains firmly in the legacy of Morning Musume, and put on a brilliant performance at the “Thank You for Your Love Tour”.

9. Yuu Kikkawa:Too much listening to Milky Way (I love her vocals in Tan Tan Tan) will make you chose someone purely based on them being easy to distinguish and wearing a dress you would quite like to have yourself.

10. Makoto Ogawa:Makoto was one of those girls which I hadn’t seen much of, nor paid attention to.  She didn’t have a very distinctive voice in MM and from what I can gather about the good-old-days was more notable for her dancing.  Despite this, her return to Japan this year has had a different impact on me.  Her blog is very enjoyable to read and… she always does her nails really nicely…

So there are my decisions, based on rather shallow and impulsive reasons.  I hope this poll is run next year… maybe I’ll put more thought in it then!

So I did the voting like a week or two ago but guys ever since I got back from New York I’m usually falling asleep right after classes so now I finally taken time out to finally do my top ten favorite H!P members. Of course there are several other posts I plan on doing related to favorite members such as TVXQ, Wonder Girls, Morning Musume, Buono!, C-ute, Berryz Koubou, and fave solo artist.

6.  Noto Arisa – well one of the eggs I can easily find. Tsunku should just graduate her and make her a full fledge H!P member. Noto is a great leader of the Eggs and fits well in Ongaku Gatas. Was watching the latest Ongaku Gatas concert on youtube and Noto was great throughout the whole concert.

7. Yuuka – Okay some Yuuka is another group starting this fall? Tsunku is seriously using this Egg a lot (quite frequently) so I’m saying this along with Noto just graduate her to a full fledge member! Yuuka was sooooo c-ute in High King and Shugo Chara Egg! Pink is totally her color! Has anyone seen the Cinderella / Complex Event V which feature some footage of Yuuka. As you can see from High-King to SCE! her stage presence has change so much!

8.  Kusumi Koharu – When I start liking Koharu? I started watching Kirarin Revolution a lot. Plus MilkyWay’s Anataboshi made some big points for Koharu. Also the whole Koharu pair with Junjun & Linlin is also making me love her. Those there were great to watch in the Alo Hello DVD and plus Guruguru Jump is great with those three. Not the best vocals but something about that song makes you love them right Koharu?!

9. Natsuyaki Miyabi – what happen Miyabi why are you rank so low? Miyabi is my favorite in Buono! and Buono! has totally became my favorite H!P group (seriously I order their albums and singles without thinking). Miyabi I must say has a safe voice which hasn’t change much since she first debuted with Berryz Koubou. I must say nice hair cut Miyabi!

10. Matsuura Aya – I didn’t like Aya that much but I guess when everyone was piss about her releasing ballads instead of pop songs I was enjoying them. I’m a sucker for good ballads and Aya has such a beautiful voice. AVEX should just sign her up because she has so much talent. One day I was on BoAjjang and one of the topics was Aya singing LOVE LETTER (Aya is good friends for BoA) by BoA. Aya I’m sure BoA will call not so early in the morning like you requested.

Okay I still have more posts dealing with H!P and other artists. Hopefully I will get them up since I don’t have classes on Wednesday (thank goodness for Assessment Day!)

Probably the most natural-sounding artificial key change in my remixing history (there’s no key change in “Daisuki Rakuten Eagles”). Those are hard to pull off; they often end up crackly or Chipmunk’d. Yay for Melodyne!

LU LU LU no Inori — GAM × Mano Erina

A tearjerker and one of my personal favorites. “LU LU LU” has never sounded so sad and hopeless before. Too bad the vocal rip was a mess. *shakes fist at UFW*

Hatehatena no Waltz — Hanasaki Cobeni starring Kikkawa Yuu × Eco Moni.

My first 3/4-time mashup. (H!P very rarely releases any non-4/4 time songs.) Quality isn’t too great for various reasons, lack of an instrumental being one of them. It’s a shame neither of the artists represented were ever given their own single and instead had to piggyback on releases featuring other artists. (The linguist in me is screaming at the grammatical weirdness of that last sentence. Ahem.)

Hello all!

This is my very first blog. Cant think of anything more interesting than “Doomsday – End of the World”.

So whats happening in 2012?

• Will Earth be hit by another planet
• Human race dies due to lack of resources
• Centre allignment of Earth in the Milkyway 

You can say this is the moment I have been waiting for all my life. Finally, after 20 years, I got to spend a night with a telescope in my hands. Now, how awesome is that!!!??? .

With an equally psyched friend for company, I spent the happiest stargazing night ever, making out the awesomely awesome constellations, the so so distant nebulae, the stunning Gas Giants and everything that there is in the night sky.

I have finally got better at spotting the constellations properly, thanks to one amazing software called Sideralis for mobile phones. It’s just fucking amazing! And you should have seen my face when I finally managed to spot the Orion completely ( largely thanks to the fact that I had traveled some 60 Km away from the Light Polluted Chennai to get Clear Skies ) . Ah, The feeling that you get when you spot the Big Dog with it’s stunning tail ( The Canis Major ) or when you spot Mr. Hercules who seems to be standing there in the dark with his hands raised, poised like a true Hero, Absolutely Amazing.

And then, Saturn. Only now I understand why Saturn is the favorite celestial object of all fucking times. Appa, the rings, Breathtaking! Saturn is the Best Planet Ever, after Earth of course . And Titan, the largest moon of Saturn that was just a pixel in the image was really nice, and Jupiter with it’s beautiful bands of clouds and it’s moons lined up on either side was some sight:).

Not to forget Sirius, Betelgeuse and Regulus, The Beautiful Orion Nebula that was just a collection of dots in the scope and the Whirlpool Galaxy which is so distant that I got to see only an unresovled dot; besides the always stunning Ursa Major which thought me in a simple manner how everything revolves around Polaris, and did I mention that Saturn rocks?

I even managed to spot Leo and Bootes. Finally there’s our own Moon. Waning Gibbous, with the line bringing out the crescent shape that is breathtakingly beautiful surrounded by all the craters and mountains on that pure white landscape, brilliant , and Saturn’s rings are the best ever!

So I managed to do and learn so much in one single night than I’ve done for the last 20 years. It feels good . A round trip of about 120 Km and a night without sleep, but totally worth it, thanks to a friend with this amazing scope , thanks to which I was able to spot Saturn with it’s Rings .

EDIT:

I forgot to mention the scope’s amazing Goto capability and the built-in Computer. It has a catalog of stars, nebula, constellations etc. and first, the finder scope  is properly aligned and the we point the main scope with any two stars visible at that time and calibrate it, after that all you have to do is just select the object from a long list and the scope will automatically move and point to the object! We literally fell down when selected ” Goto Saturn ” and it pointed to it with perfect precision and we saw the fucking rings. Technology. Science. Genius.!!
