I blog cause I’m fly
You ain’t cause you’re not
This is why
This is why
This is why blog

The original niggerversion (This is why I’m hot by MIMS) check je hier

De negers even achterwegen latend, this is why I blog

Een artikel over Why he blogs.
Als ik de essentie eruit probeer te halen kom ik op het volgende;

Volgens onzen Andrew is bloggen:
Verhalen in logvorm schrijven.

“a good blog is your own private Wikipedia”

MAAR: “It’s a difficult balance, between your own interests and obsessions, and the knowledge, insight, and wit of others” vervolgt hij.

Tenzij eventuele stalkers. Maar dat betwijfel ik.

Stiekem maakt het me toch curieus.

As always they sound & look great though I could have done without the instrumental playing in the background. It was kind of distracting. Other than that I have no complaints. Hope to hear more original material from them soon though!

Since the release of his sophomore album, Guilt, Mims has been fairly quiet. However, he has began to make his rounds in promotion of his third album. Recently, Mims talked about his first album in comparison to his second album.

Mims cited the commercial failure of Guilt on the fact that the fans wanted the next “This Is Why I’m Hot” to be featured on the album. That did not happen, instead, Mims delivered “Move (If You Wanna).” That track was a minor hit, but it did nothing to help the album sell nearly as many copies as his debut.

Rumors began circulating after the release of Mims’ second album that he wanted to leave Capitol Records. It was said that he offered the label $900,000 to be released from his contract, but they ended up turning it down. However, when he began talking about this new album, Mims said that it will be released on Capitol Records.

When he was asked about a title, Mims said that it is tentatively titled, I Am The Best. As far as collaborations, currently, he does not have any, but Mims said that he is open to working with anyone that wants to work with him. He said that he would love to do something with 50 Cent, Ne-Yo, or someone else on that level.

Mims also said that he would love to work with some big-name producers, but he has decided to work with some up-and-coming producers. Even after his last album failed to deliver a lot of sales, he is going to use the same formula once again. Once again, Mims said that he has the full support of Capitol Records.

While there has not been a release date given, Mims will release his third studio album, I Am The Best on American King Music and Capitol Records.

Just a reminder, this blog is to celebrate words, especially those with urban influence and/or appeal. That said, late last night or early this morning, it was after midnight, so you call it based on your sleeping habits, I caught an episode of Nip/Tuck. The show is one my guilty pleasures that I sometimes indulge. Anyway, I’m enjoying the show. The once successful surgeons are experiencing financial problems like everyday “joes”. One of the doc’s luxury boat was seized. Enter frame: Their competition, a much younger, more chiseled plastic surgeon played by Mario Lopez. And as he slowly enters the shot escorted by two fine women on each arm, guess what THEME MUSIC plays in the background.

The street anthem by MIMS, “This is why I’m hot”! I almost jumped out of bed. This is the prime example of the beauty and power of words. Mims’ street anthem found its way onto a hit tv series not necessarily made for the urban audience. I love it! That’s the epitome of URBAN WORDFARE, WRITE OUT THE HOOD!

I read a WordPress blog by southern ecentrik yesterday. The sister posed a question of whether or not urban fiction is still needed. She mentioned all the negative images the contemporary urban fiction seems to be further perpetuating and asked what happened to the black literary prose of yesterday. She made me think about Richard Wright, James Baldwin, Langston Hughes, and so many other great black writers of yesterday. Did they convey the current state of urban life without “glorifying” the ills of the time and how did they do it?

I want to pay respect to our great forefathers of URBAN WORDFARE, so today’s Write Out the Hood challenge goes way, way back.

“When you control a man’s thinking you do not have to worry about his actions.”

Hint: Think about the shortest month on the roman calendar.

After coming into the game known as a pop rapper, Mims has made some major noise in 2009. This year, Mims has been trying to show his lyrical prowess. As a result, Mims has gained a bit more respect in this rap game. While his album, Guilt, did not sell many copies, Mims did release a very good album.

This year, Mims has attempted to master the formula used by every successful rapper, making music for the ladies and making music for the streets. His single, “Love Rollercoaster,” featuring LeToya Luckett, showed a completly different dimension of Mims and the song gave Mims a minor hit.

Currently, Mims’ music still has some heads bouncing. Despite the fact that Guilt did not sell many copies, some are trying to say that his album was one of the best released this year. Many would not guess how hard that Mims works. He is in the studio, now, creating a new album.

In actuality, Mims has been in the studio since the release of Guilt, working on what some call a classic album. A single is expected to be released soon from this album, along with a title and release date.

Mims’ constant work and improved lyricism have made him one of the hottest rappers in the game this year. His third album is said to be released sometime in December of 2009.

In 2003, Capitol Records decided to move back into hip hop. The first act signed under this new dedication was Chingy. No support was ever replaced around him and a lack of promotion led him to leave Capitol Records in 2007.

That just so happened to be the same year that Mims joined the label. He came to the label with his chart-topping single, “This Is Why I’m Hot.” With that one single, promotion was not necessary. It appeared that Capitol Records was invested in Mims’ success.

Only months after Music Is My Savior was released, Mims announced that he planned to release a remix album in December 2007 and a third album in March 2008. Had that happened, Mims would have shaken the label of “one hit wonder” and he may have had a platinum release by now. For unknown reasons, the label never pushed these projects and they went unreleased. In late 2008, Mims began promoting his second album, Guilt.

The only problem was, Capitol Records did nothing to promote Mims or his album. It was Mims’ imprint, American King Music, that did all of the promoting of Mims’ music. During his promotional run, Mims constantly stated that Capitol was 100% behind him.

However, after his album flopped, Mims began to sound a lot like Chingy. Back in June, Mims offered $900,000 to end his deal with Capitol. Mims and American King have taken it upon themselves to begin promoting his next album. Capitol Records has had nothing to say about the album.

Such labels as Bad Boy Records, Def Jam, Roc Nation, Aftermath Entertainment, and So So Def are currently looking for fresh blood. Mims is said to be working hard on a daily basis to release his third album this December. With Mims said to be on a new level and these hip hop labels desperate to catch Young Money, something may happen.

Mims is currently still fighting to get off of Capitol Records and he hopes to release his third studio album in December of 2009.

After being two albums deep with a third in the works, Mims is still probably best-known for his deb

After being two albums deep with a third in the works, Mims is still probably best-known for his debut single, “This Is Why I’m Hot.” It was his first song and it rose to number one on the Billboard Hot 100. Initially, the song was praised, but it was later panned for a lack of lyrical effort.

Mims’ debut album, Music Is My Savior, also spawned another hit, “Like This.” The song was a top 40 hit, but Mims was still labeled as a one hit wonder. In the end, his debut album sold 300,000 copies and “This Is Why I’m Hot” sold many ringtones. After a year-long tour, Mims began working on his sophomore release, Guilt.

While doing interviews in preparation for the new album, Mims expressed his excitement. He frequently stated that Capitol Records was behind him completely and that this was the first album that he actually worked on with the label. Mims said that he recorded his first one independently and handed it in to Capitol.

His lead single, “Move (If You Wanna),” was a minor hit, but did well in urban radio. The song was not promoted as much as other music of the time, nor was the album. In December, a second single, “Love Rollercoaster,” with LeToya Luckett was released to radio, but also suffered from a lack of promotion.

When Guilt was released, it was released on the same day as Jadakiss’ The Last Kiss. Jadakiss frequently stated that Mims was going to outsell him because he was supposed to. Had Capitol Records been thinking, they would have pushed a SoundScan battle with Jadakiss. Being on a label like Def Jam, Jadakiss’ people would have not minded it one bit.

Had Mims and Jadakiss gotten involved in a SoundScan battle, it would have helped Mims’ album sales and raise his profile. Capitol Records did nothing and Jadakiss badly outsold Mims. His album only sold 16,000 copies in its first week and 20,000 copies to date. With no promotion, Mims was upset with the label and he now wants out.

With a third album in the works, Mims is recording it alone, the same way that he did for his first album. He has said that this new album will be released in December; this may be him shopping his skills to another label, or the last album in his contract with Capitol.

Honestly, Mims is not as bad as people make him out to be. He is actually a good rapper; the problem is he always picks the wrong singles to release to radio. If Mims is able to sign with another label, they may be able to help him pick better singles, which would lead to better album sales.

In a recent interview, Mims revealed that he was already back in the studio recording tracks.

He said that he is going through the process of this album a bit differently than he has on his past two. For his yet-to-be titled third album, Mims revealed that he was working entirely on his own.

While working with only himself in the studio, Mims feels that he can be at his creative peak. Mims told of a new single in the works and that the theme of the album is being independent.

Despite the upcoming album being about independence, it will be released on a major label, American King/Capitol. Mims said that the album should be expected sometime in December of this year.

From the get-go, Mims was written off by hip hop pundits. He wasn’t street enough, he wasn’t tough enough, he wasn’t lyrical enough, but he was hot. This is something that Mims was not afraid to tell the world.

His first single released to radio was his hit single, “This is why I’m Hot.” The song skyrocketed to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and regular music fans were behind Mims. However, when his album, Music is my Savior, was released, it only sold 400,000 copies worldwide. When the album flopped, Mims became known as a one hit wonder and an easy target within hip hop.

Many hip hop outlets created a rumor about Mims that involved a feud with 50 Cent. Any other artists would have jumped at an opportunity to challenge 50 Cent as high-profile as he is. Mims, however, refused to jump into the ring because it was not his style or his words.

Later in 2007, he was dissed by former D-Block rapper, J-Hood, in his debut single, “One Hit Wonder Man.” Before he became famous, Mims let it be known that he was not one of those rappers that feuds with other artists. So, when J-Hood dissed him, Mims refused to respond on wax, instead, he subliminally talks about it in interviews.

It seems that many people in hip hop take Mims as soft because of his style; he is quick to let people know that he is not soft. During the promotion of his sophomore album, Guilt, he made it clear that he was no push over. There have been times where he has stepped up, though. In 2007, Talib Kweli released a remix to Mims’ hot single called “N*ggas Lie A Lot.” It was perceived by radio as a diss to Mims, so, on his album, he released a song entitled “Just Like That.”

The song went at an unknown foe, but he called him numerous names, including fat. Nearly one year after the song’s release, speculation began that Mims was challenging Jae Millz. After those rumors turned out to be false, it was realized that the song was just Mims’ way of letting anyone that wants to try him know that he is no pushover.

Since he first entered the game, such prominent figures Lil Wayne, Jay-Z, and 50 Cent have talked about Mims. Lil Wayne stated that he appreciated the new style that he was ushering in; Jay-Z said that it is a shame that anyone in hip hop can make $1 million by saying nothing on a track. 50 Cent also spoke on the matter of Mims, 50 said that due to his single’s ringtone success, labels may begin signing artists to single deals, instead of the traditional album deals, which would lead to the demise of hip hop. Mims said that he respected those opinions, but it was other artists, like J-Hood, who never scored a hit of any kind that annoyed him.

It is clear that Mims is going to be around for a while; he has crafted such hits as “This is why I’m Hot,” “Like This,” and “Move (If You Wanna).” He is currently in the studio now preparing a mixtape that will be followed by an album in 2010.

“The Manga Guide to Electricity”, part of “The Manga Guide” series by No Sta

“The Manga Guide to Electricity”, part of “The Manga Guide” series by No Starch Press, is a novel approach to the old problem of getting over the initial mental block when trying to learn electronics.

We decided to compare this book to another introductory text: “Getting Started in Electronics” by [Forrest M. Mims]. [Mims]‘ book is a handwritten masterpiece of electronic literature. The writing style is friendly and concise, the examples are simple, and the drawings are excellent. It also makes sure to keep the learning process as application based as possible. Unlike other books, it doesn’t bog the reader down with math and theory that is only useful to advanced students. Since its original printing in 1983, [Mims]‘ has become the de facto standard for beginner electronic literature.

“The Manga Guide” attempts to walk the beginner through the very basics of electronics using the interactions between [Rereko], a resident of planet Electopia; [Yonosuke], a transdimensional robot cell phone; and [Hikaru Yano Sensei], an electrical engineering researcher at a Japanese university. [Rereko] is apparently very bad at electricity, and is sent to learn the basics from Hikaru over the summer by her professor.

“The Manga Guide” is a lot of fun to read. The interactions between the characters are lighthearted, and the whole setting has a sort of quirkiness about it that makes you keep reading just for the joy of it. It covers most of the basics thoroughly and with excellent examples. The art is a very well drawn, playful style of manga.

Unfortunately, in order to keep the story going, a lot of little but important details were left out of the manga. To compensate for this, there are mini chapters of what can be politely described as some of the most dry electronics text ever written. We found ourselves skipping over this text often to get back to the manga parts of the book. Another disadvantage to this book is that it is hard to go back to previous pages in order to reference things since one subject may be spread across several pages of story. This is just an unfortunate side effect of the manga format. A book like [Mims]‘ has the advantage here because the information is denser and easily indexed.

In conclusion, this book is a great addition to any library, but not to be relied on for learning. While “The Manga Guide to Electricity” introduces you to the basics very well, unless you want to suffer through the mini chapters, you will be no closer to building a circuit at the end than when you started reading. [Mims]’ book, on the other hand, leaves you with all the skills to begin experimenting with, building, and designing your own circuits. Luckily, at the price range of this book, there is really no reason not to pick it up and give it a read.

No Starch Press has provided us with two copies to give away. Just leave a comment including the words “I want this book.” and you’ll be entered in the random drawing. Please only use the phrase once or you’ll be disqualified. Entries will close 12PM PDT Thursday August 6, 2009. Congratulations to our winners [daniel n.] and [Fiach Antaw].

Today in my Hip Hop class – Yes I did say Hip Hop as carbs are evil and I endeavor to be lean but no

Today in my Hip Hop class – Yes I did say Hip Hop as carbs are evil and I endeavor to be lean but not mean. I was “bustin’ the proverbial move” and feeling rather coordinated as I remained upright when choreographed… Until the dancer next to me said – “Wow you move really well for a white guy…” Ok I am a realist and as a man who moisturizes I have been called far worse than “rhythmic” – But it struck me, in these days of transition, it is easy to forget that some stereotypes persist.

Now to add insult to injury (after looking at HIM cross-eyed) – He added… “And for guy your age you are really moving…” Ok that just about pushed me over the edge – but alas this was a special day as I was not the ONLY “white guy” who would stepping outside the box and taking on the status quo.

Serious moment…This is what we call an introduction and it is meant to somehow tie my interview with the straight up, straight talkin’ MC (I will wow you with my knowledge in just a few…) Sullee with my random life. So please this is not a political statement on present racial woes…THIS is a celebrity blog – so breathe….And away we go!

MTV I love you and you have been good to me, but I do have talk the talk about VH1 for a bit. What happens when you mix reality television, a really cool premise and music? Ya get The White Rapper Show hosted by MC Serch of 3rd Bass fame. Now stick these white rappers in a “crib” (listen to me sounding so urban) in the South Bronx and let the bullets, I mean sparks fly.

Actually, according to Sullee the show was “really fair” with only a few editing “extravaganzas” that did not fully “represent”.

Hailing from inner city Boston, it was immediately clear that this guy was a gentleman, an artist and more than willing to educate me on the finer points of the Rap vs. Hip Hop debate. In fact, did ya know that beyond the box is the MC??? Hmmm see you can even learn something here!

So as an MC or Master of Ceremony Sullee truly collaborates with the DJ who is spinning and steps into the spotlight to keep the party moving. Not to take away from his reality television experience or his unwavering integrity as he walked away from the $100,000 brass ring to do as his father told him when he left for the show – “Make sure he could come home…” with his reputation firmly intact and the respect of this Blogger and fans everywhere – Sullee has certainly come full circle… “growing up I really respected people like Busta Rhymes…” Fast forward to the present and BAM! his hit single is with whom you ask? None other than his childhood idol “Busta”… Doesn’t get much better than that!

With his debut album An American Tale (named after his favorite movie) poised to take over the music scene – Yes orphaned mouse takes on the new world (aw shucks) this guy has a softer side (major chic magnet) Sullee is a musical powerhouse that flexes his muscle through his lyrics steering clear of the pitfalls that have taken down so many in his genre.

As humble as he is talented, he is quick to recognize those who have inspired him and grateful to a remarkable list of industry A Listers who have already given him the major green light. Claudette Ortiz of City High, Joe Budden, Teddy Riley, Slash of Guns and Roses, Busta Rhymes, Rick Ross, Mims., Billy Squier, Cool and Dre, Jackpot, Blackout, Ken Lewis and Producers Coalition of America are all on the “Sullee Express” a train that has left the station and is on a cross country adventure moving full throttle towards not only taking the industry by storm, but redefining the definition of MC as we know it.

Note to self: Sullee wants to one day be a Farmer in Kentucky…I will let HIM explain

Note to dancer in class: BRING IT ON YOUNG GUN!
