Diantara alasan orang membeli netbook yang diprosesori Intel Atom adalah harganya yang murah (sekitar 3-5 jutaan), ringan dibawa-bawa alias mobile, dan batere yang tahan lama. Tapi jika alasan pertama diabaikan atau anda punya anggaran sekitar 6 – 8 juta, maka lupakanlah netbook atom. Mengapa ?. Ya, karena sekarang sudah ada “Mini notebook” yang sebanarnya!. “The real mini notebook” dalam versi Toshiba adalah laptop dengan ukuran netbook tetapi berkemampuan layaknya notebook biasa (yang tentu saja lebih baik dari netbook). Karena Toshiba baru saja mengeluarkan seri terbaru mini notebook mereka yaitu Portege T110 dan Portege T130. Portege T110 yang tebalnya tidak sampai 1 inci ini dimotori oleh Intel Pentium SU2700 1,3GHz, lengkap dengan batere 6-cell 5600mAh, berbobot 1,58kg saja. Sedang Portege T130 dimotori oleh pilihan prosesor Intel Pentium Dual Core SU 4100 1,3GHz atau Core Duo SU9400 1,4GHz itu juga tampil tipis dan menawan. Lantas berapa daya tahan baterenya ?. 11 jam untuk tipe T110, dan sampai 9 jam untuk T130.
Kedua notebook baru ini datang langsung dengan sistem operasi Windows 7 Home Premium. Portege T110 yang berlayar 11,6” dilengkapi dengan DDR3 1066MHz 1MB (maksimal 4MB), grafis Intel GMA4500M, harddisk SATA 250GB. Jika anda hanya menginginkan batere yang tahan lama tanpa terlalu peduli dengan bobot, bisa pilih ASUS UL80VT yang mempunyai daya tahan batere sampai 10 jam, juga sudah ada optical drive-nya. VGA-nya bisa di-switch antara GeForce G210M 512MB GDDR3 atau Intel GMA 4500MHD. Harga untuk Asus UL80VT ini sekitar $819. Spesifikasi lengkap seri Asus UL80VT ini bisa dilihat disini

1. Jika kita tidak pake UPS, lebih baik baterai laptop tidak dilepas.
Notebook lebih rentan terhadap loncatan arus yang tiba-tiba seperti bila terjadi konsleting, mati listrik mendadak dll dibandingkan dengan komputer desktop. Umumnya banyak kasus kerusakan motherboard karena hal ini, dengan kondisi laptop layarnya ngeblank, mati total dll, klo masih rusak juga sebaiknya Service Notebook dan Service Laptop.

2. Pastikan arus masuk dari kabel adaptor ke notebook, setelah kabel power
(yang ke listrik AC) tersambung terlebih dulu

Kelihatannya sepele, namun kerusakan seperti pada point 1 juga bisa terjadi karena hal ini. Umumnya pada saat kita masukan kabel power ke listrik dirumah, kita tidak memperhatikan munculnya percikan api, sementara kabel adaptor sudah disambungkan ke laptop, hal inilah yang kadang memicu timbulnya, kerusakan motherboard. Dibeberapa merek ada yang mengakibatkan laptop terus me-restart padahal sudah di shutdown (jika batere terpasang), atau meminta password factory default (beberapa kasus terjadi di merk toshiba, biaya reset password saja hingga 500 ribu!!, nah sebaiknya anda Service Notebook dan Service Laptop ) dll.

3. Hati-hati terhadap cara pemakaian baterai notebook/laptop

Jangan serem dulu !!…hanya sekedar berhati-hati karena harga baterai original, lumayan mahal (+ Rp 1 jt – 1,5 jt). Baterai notebook terbuat dari Lithium Ion , dimana penggunaannya tidak boleh sampai habis sekali dan tidak boleh over, charge (bisa mengakibatkan cepat ngedrop selain dapat mengakibatkan laptop, jadi overheat, sebaiknya cek Service Notebook Laptop dan Service Notebook Jakarta). Baiknya baterai di-charge jika mendekati 10%-20% dan bila sudah, penuh cabut saja kabel, adaptor yang terhubung ke notebook.

4. Jangan simpan laptop diatas kasur atau bantal

Jaga kelancaran sirklulasi udara pada notebook/laptop, lihat bagian bawah, notebook anda. umumnya pada merek yang beredar, kipas selalu ditempatkan, di bagian bawah. Jadi bisa dibayangkan jika notebook disimpan diatas kasur atau bantal, akan menghalangi sirkulasi udara masuk dan keluar guna mendinginkan suhu laptop, hal ini dapat berakibat fatal (*serius!), notebook jadi overheat yg mengakibatkan motherboard + processornya bisa terbakar klo udah begini ada baiknya Service Notebook Laptop dan Service Notebook Jakarta.

Katy and June mini-Notebook

There is something about the imagery on these mini-notebooks that sucked me in. So it came as no surprise to me when I learned that the makers, Katy & June, are Korean based. I have always had a soft spot for Asian made paper goods. It looks like these notebooks are marked down to half price here.

Blush

Blush is my new HP Mini Notebook’s name.  I named her Blush because she’s so pink!!

I bought this new notebook a few days ago and I’m so happy with it.  I’m glad that I can take it anywhere when I travel (hopefully) in the future.  I’m rendered bankrupt buying this but it’s so worth it. I’ll be in dept to my aunt who lent me the money and I’ll be paying her monthly.

Well, buying this notebook is not all about excitement though.  I used to have an HP Pavilion notebook which I traded for a desktop.  I could not play games on that old notebook computer so I agreed to the trade. Unfortunately, less than a month after the desktop broke.  Well, not really broke down, but it had some problems with the video card and though it is turning on, nothing comes up on the screen.  That led me to buy a new notebook prematurely.  Even before I traded the old one, it had been my intention to buy a new notebook but since I was still saving money at the time, I agreed to trade it for a desktop with higher specifications that would meet the minimum requirements of Sims 2 and other games I would have wanted to install.  My friend already fixed the desktop and I still intend to use it for games.  This notebook will just be for simple things like browsing the internet, sending and receiving emails, checking my Facebook and Multiply accounts and hopefully, if I have the time, writing articles and stories.

I’m really loving Blush!!!  Isn’t she so cute and cuddly?

I think Nik has me figured out.  After 3 days of pulling out her old toys after school, she has noticed the pattern.  Last night around bedtime, she randomly asked me what I was going to set up for her next.  I have a great idea for today, but of course I wasn’t going to tell her what it is.  She tried all her best tricks to get me to spill the beans, including begging and puppy-dog eyes, but I was a rock.  I have to admit that secretly, I am so pleased that she seems to be enjoying my little game.  I love seeing the smiles on her face.  Here she is with yesterday’s toy.

She is definitely getting pretty big for her dollhouses, but she’s enjoying the fun of a daily surprise.  I can’t wait to see her face this afternoon.  I’ve got a good one set up for her!

Yesterday was my day to post on the Webster’s Pages Facebook site.  If you all are a fan of Webster’s and of Facebook, be sure to check out this page.  There are always great projects from the design team and announcements and tons of good information to be seen.  I posted this mini notebook that I covered with Sweet as Cherry Pie papers.

This was a super quick and easy project.  I simply covered the notebook with the background paper and added the cut out “family” star and one cut white flower.  Added a knotted piece of trim from the Spring Whimsy Trim Kit.

The back was also very simple.  I covered it with paper, and added the quote that I directly cut out from the patterned paper.  Added one final white flower for detail.

Posting this made me realize that I have several other projects featuring the Sweet as Cherry Pie collection that I haven’t shown yet.  So today is my day for Cherry Pie.

Besides the paper, I used touches of the Cherry Pie designer vellum, the Spring Whimsy trims, and the Polka Dot Storytellers alpha stickers.  You can check out the entire collection here.

Lenovo kembali meluncurkan notebook terbarunya dari generasi Ideapad yang ditujukan khusus bagi para gamer. Ma plictisisem sa tot car dupa mine peste tot (la facultate, la birou, la bunici, in vacanta) un laptop de aproape 3kg jumate…te doare spatele, te doare mana, te apuca nervii, caldurile, vrei sa dai cu el de pereti sau sa iei taxiul….asta pentru ca noi femeile, pe langa geanta de laptop cu toate accesoriile necesare, mai caram si geanta zilnica. Unde avem cheile, portofelul, mobilele, servetele, trusa de farduri, o umbrela, o agenda, pixuri, parfum si multe altele

Am decis sa fac o mica schimbare si sa inlocuiesc vechiul laptop cu unul nou (inca nu le-am facut cunostinta, dar cel vechi probabil va plange deoarece nu va mai calatorii alaturi de mine). Dupa mai multe zile petrecute cautand ceva adecvat, am gasit Lenovo Idea Pad S10e la Emag. Da ! Fac reclama, deoarece Emag are cel mai mic pret dintre toate magazinele online – versiunea cu Linux. Are dimensiunea unei agende, si cu tot cu mouse, adaptor si alte accesorii nu cantaraste mai mult de 1.5kg ! Poate fi purtat in geanta intr-o husa stylish sau intr-o geanta de laptop mai micuta (cele pentru laptopuri cu dispaly de 13″ ). Raportul calitate / pret, din punctul meu de vedere, este foarte ok. Pentru o suma decenta am luat un laptop ultraportabil, elegant, cu un procesor la 1600MHz, 1GB RAM, 160GB HDD, camera web integrata (by the way, in loc de scanarea amprentei are integrata scanarea retinei), 2 porturi USB, cititor de carduri, wireless.  Am instalat Windowx XP, Microsoft Office 2007, Yahoo mess, Winamp si alte programe si rezista uimitor. Se “misca” perfect, repede, fara erori sau blue screen. Intr-adevar este mai lent daca incerci sa faci prea multe in acelasi timp, dar nu este deranjant. Bateria are 3 celule, deci tine undeva la 3 ore, maxim 4 (autonomie) ceea ce este ok pentru un mini laptop.

Pe site-ul Lenovo (www.lenovo.com) gasesti foarte usor, grupate intr-o pagina, toate driverele de care ai nevoie. Sau poti alege sa faci un Lenovo System Update care dureaza in jur de 20 minute si instaleaza singut toate driverele necesare. Tot pe site vei gasi toate informatiile de care ai nevoie ca sa te intelegi bine cu noul tau “prieten” si sa nu incepeti “relatia” printr-o cearta

Ca punct slab as putea spune…lipsa unei unitati optice. Dar nu este asa grav daca iti iei versiunea cu Windows XP sau Vista gata instalat (insa vei scoate din buzunar 4 milioane in plus). Tip ! Nu incerca sa pui Windowsu folosind un stick..bootabil. Dupa 4 ore de chin si nervi vei realiza…ca nu a mers Cel mai indicat este fie sa-ti cumepri un DVD-ROM extern, fie sa cunosti pe cineva care are unul (Love you Cristina) !

La Emag am primit o garantie de 1 an la laptop si posibilitatea de a merge cu el la service exact la showroom-ul Crangasi (pentru mine este ok deoarece este la 15min de serviciu). Am mai cumparat la super pret un mouse optic fara fir pe USB si un stick de 8GB ca sa compenseze lipsa CD / DVD ROM. Recomand sa luati un mini mouse fara fir deoarece touch pad-ul este destul de mic si finut, si daca nu esti obisnuit cu el il poti strica imediat sau iti va fi incomod.

Per total…nota 9.50 for “my little darkangel” (este varianta All Black) si daca pe parcurs o sa fiu dezamagita (ceea ce nu imi doresc) promit sa refac acest review !

P.S. Daca ajungeti prin afara tarii puteti gasi laptopul intr-o gama de culori mult mai larga ! In Romania nu este disponibil decat in varianta All Black.

Netbooks are generally known as a small laptops .Since netbooks are revealed, there are lots definitions on what netbook really is. According to Wikipedia; A netbook is a laptop computer designed for wireless communication and access to the Internet. Also according to Intel; Netbooks are defined as clamshell notebooks with 7in to 10.2in screens, “purpose built for internet use.

Although there are so many definitions for netbooks and  so many things that defines a netbook a netbook, in my estimation, a netbook is a mini laptop that is used for small-web based applications. In addition this simple definition also there are some things that makes a netbook a netbook. Let’s look at them briefly.

Screen Size

Screen size is one of the most determinig thing when we will understand the name of the device. Because netbooks can be realized owing to the their size.  Generally they are in the range of 7- 10 inches. Although, some manufacturers still claim their 11-12 inches notebooks as netbooks, they are actually not a netbook.

Storage

The other thing is storage. For netbooks , there are two types of storage options; Solid State Disk (SSD) and Hard Disk Drive (HDD).  In general SSDs have 4- 32 GB capacities, on the other hand, HDDs capacities are range from 80- 160 GB in most netbooks. SDDs are more shoced resistant consequently they seems more convenient for netbooks which can be used on move or outside. However; they are more expensive than the HDDs.

Memory

Although; almost all netbooks are able to carry 2 GB ram, in most netbooks have 512 mb or 1 GB ram.

Weight

Almost all netbooks are 2-3lbs (1-1.5kg), although there are a few models which are slightly outside of this range. Yet, they are designed for mobility and portibility that is why they have to be light to carry them every where you want.

Processing Power

Netbooks use low powered processors in order to give good battery life.  They use one core rather than two cores so that they do not use up the battery energy in short time.  Because of this situations, they are not useful for complex computing tasks such as playing grapgically intensive video games or video editing and so forth. However, they can still meet our most of the everyday needs.

Connectivity

Most of the netbooks come with USB 2.0, memory card reader, headphone/mic socket as their brothers have. But some models have an express card slot and optional extras include bluetooth and 3G. In addition, mojority of netbooks- not old ones- have built in microphone and webcam to make video conferencing calls.

Keyboard Size

Keyboard size is of couse totally depend on screen size, but i have add this mostly, keyboard size range from  %80-92 of full size of netbook. I think before buying a netbook, this is the one of the most considerable thing because -especially if you have big finger- it can cause some problems for you:)

Operating System

At this moment, standard choices of operating systems are Linux and Windows Xp.  Windows Vista is not seem as a good option for netbooks due to big system requirements. However, Windows 7 is expected to be a replace for XP for netbook use. Yet it is more efficient with system resources.

Cost

Most of the netbooks are start off at around $300, although there are more expensive ones with some extra features and options.

Although, there are still some exceptions for netbooks, they are basically; light weighted, low-priced portable computer that is ideal for everyday computing tasks such as web-based applicaitons and some word processors.

While sitting next to two friends and their iphones on Sunday, I became convinced that I needed one of my own. Then I learnt that it doesn’t have video, and it’s hard to unlock the phone to add a local sim card for cost-effective web access.

When I go to Europe later this year I want to be able to quickly upload short videos, or compress and add digital SLR photos without visiting an internet cafe. When I’m in one of the world’s greatest cities, I don’t want to be holed up in a dark, grotty (and kind of scary!) computer room.

My latest idea is a mini notebook computer. I don’t want to lug my three kilo Sony Vaio laptop with me, taking up valuable space and baggage allowance that could be filled with gorgeous shoes!

After today’s research I’m heading towards a Dell. I heard from a local retailer that the budget Asus model has been unreliable and I’m not keen on spending $1,000 for the better quality one when I already have a laptop at home.
