Tóm tắt truyện:

Miriam Todd là một cô bé mồ côi tám tuổi sống ở một vùng nông thôn miền Tây nước Mỹ gần thị trấn Wilstown. Sau khi bố mất, em đã được Grace Howard – con gái chủ một trang trại chăm sóc, và sau đó cùng Grace quán xuyến mọi công việc ở trang trại. Em là một cô bé ngoan, thông minh và rất dũng cảm.

Trong một lần xe ngựa bị kẹt lại, Miriam đã gặp nhóm ba chàng trai mười chín tuổi, vốn là cao bồi lang thang. Họ là Douglas Green, anh chàng cao lớn khỏe mạnh tóc đen và bắn súng rất giỏi, Card tóc nâu và Joel tóc vàng. Bị Miriam lôi kéo vào một vụ giải thoát xe chở hàng của một thương nhân khỏi bọn cướp, và sau đó là được em giúp trốn thoát khỏi tay Bryan Murphy, cả ba quyết định ở lại trang trại giúp đỡ Grace một thời gian.

Nhiều rắc rối từ đó bắt đầu…

Đây thật sự là một câu chuyện đặc sắc. Miriam chỉ có vỏn vẹn 7 vol nhưng tất cả đều đầy ắp những sự kiện đáng nhớ. Đọc Miriam, bạn sẽ ấn tượng với cách tạo hình nhân vật duyên dáng và hài hước, với những đoạn đối thoại không kém phần lanh lợi của một cô nhóc tám tuổi. Cùng với nhóm ba chàng cao bồi, Miriam đã làm khuấy đảo các thị trấn và tóm được các băng nhóm tội phạm nguy hiểm bằng sự khéo léo của cô. Hình tượng Miriam có thể được xem là hình tượng “nữ anh hùng” dễ thương, với trí thông minh, sự quả cảm với tinh thần chẳng kém cạnh bất kỳ chàng trai nào.

Bên cạnh Miriam luôn có “bạn đồng hành” Douglas Green. Từng gia nhập một băng trộm ngựa lúc nhỏ, đó là một chàng trai mạnh mẽ và biết sử dụng sức mạnh của mình, song anh cũng rất nhạy cảm và không bỏ mặc kẻ yếu. Anh và Miriam thường xuyên cãi nhau chan chát, nhưng luôn có sự phối hợp tuyệt vời trong hành động. Họ đặt sự tin tưởng rất lớn vào đối phương. Có lẽ điểm chung nhất đã kéo Miriam và Douglas lại gần nhau chính là trái tim quan tâm đến những người xung quanh và tuổi thơ kém may mắn. Như hầu hết các nhân vật trong truyện đều nói, họ là một cặp đôi thú vị. Và tình yêu của họ được đặt trong những khung tranh vừa lãng mạn, vừa vui nhộn song cũng rất cảm động và ban sơ như đồng cỏ miền Tây.

Mặc dù vậy, có lẽ Miriam sẽ không may mắn đến thế nếu không có Grace – một cô gái xinh đẹp, hiền hòa và dịu dàng. Grace đã nhận nuôi Miriam khi bố em mất, và luôn bên cạnh trông nom cũng như hy vọng làm được điều gì đó cho em. Tấm lòng và nụ cười của Grace đã cảm hóa được Douglas, Card và Joel. Bên cạnh Grace sau này còn có Huey Castea, vị cảnh sát trưởng mới của thị trấn Wilstown, người đã góp phần không nhỏ vào thành công của những vụ trọng án.

Sẽ là thiếu sót lớn nếu không nhắc đến hai “nhân vật phụ”: chú heo Willy và ngựa Jessie. Có thể nói sự góp mặt của cả hai đã đem lại không khí riêng cho Miriam. Thật đáng ngạc nhiên khi trong một bảng thăm dò chính tác giả đã bất ngờ kết luận rằng Willy và Jessie lại chiếm được tỉ lệ yêu thích rất cao ^ ^ Nhờ có Willy và Jessie “hỗ trợ” mà Miriam đã giúp Douglas và các bạn của anh trốn thoát, hay giúp Douglas tìm ra cô gái tóc đỏ đáng yêu của mình.

Miriam là câu chuyện về “những con ngựa hoang bất trị miền Tây nước Mỹ”. Đọc Miriam bạn sẽ nhận ra vẫn là nét vẽ đơn giản mà dễ thương với cốt truyện hấp dẫn được minh họa bằng những khung tranh rõ ràng đậm chất Kyoko Hikawa “không lẫn vào đâu được”. Người đọc sẽ lại đi từ ngạc nhiên này đến ngạc nhiên khác vì lối dẫn dắt tài tình của tác giả. Cốt truyện lôi cuốn chính là điểm mạnh của nữ mangaka tài hoa này, bên cạnh sự chạm trán của các nhân vật gần như luôn được miêu tả là “không thể khác hơn”.

Trong Miriam, miền Tây hoang dã đã được khắc họa một cách hấp dẫn, vừa rất riêng mà vẫn không bỏ qua tiếng súng và tiếng vó ngựa phi nước đại trên những thảo nguyên mênh mông. Và xen lẫn vào đó là cuộc chiến đấu không ngừng của Miriam, của Douglas, hay của Anthony… để chạm được đích đến cuối cùng, là hạnh phúc.

Representan una de las partes más turística del Titicaca, docenas de barcos van y regresan trayendo visitantes que descubren sus islas, sus costumbres que se toman fotos junto a los pequeños vestidos con trajes típicos enmarcados por las aguas azules. Son una comunidad originalmente de pescadores y cazadores de aves pero  que estrictamente se alimenta del turismo. Los tiempos cambian, la vida corre, el hambre obliga: lo que antes era la rutina de los que quehaceres diarios ahora es la rutina sobre eso mismo pero con la intención de alcanzar la curiosidad del espectador que llega y compra los productos artesanales.

Represent one of the most tourist regions of Lake Titicaca and dozens of ships are bringing visitors everyday who discover their islands, their habits and enjoy taking pictures with little children in their regional costumes framed by the blue waters. Originally, they were a fishermen and bird hunter community but nowadays their main activity is tourism. Times change, life goes on, hunger requires: what once was daily routine now is accompanied with the intention of delighting the visitor who buy their traditional crafts.

Llegando a las islas flotantes / Arriving to the floating islands

Los Uros han vivido centenares de años sobre las aguas, las huellas de sus pasos son siempre crujidos de tola seca que obliga a dar pasos largos a los recién llegados. A pesar de tantos turistas, la vida allí se percibe armoniosa, las comunidades están organizadas en más de un centenar de islas dispuestas estratégicamente sobre las aguas del lago más alto.

“Vivir en las ciudades casi representa para un Uro, vivir en la marginalidad. Es por eso que nuestra gente prefiere quedarse en las islas y esperar a los turistas”, son las palabras de Roberto, un joven de veintidós años que trabaja de lanchero y nos introduce ligeramente en la vida sobre el Titicaca.

The Uros have lived on the water since hundreds of years ago, the traces of their steps are always crunches made by reed forcing newcomers to take long steps. Despite the large amount of tourists, life there is still harmonious, communities are organized in more than a hundred islands strategically arranged across the lake. “Uro inhabitant thinks that living in cities is living in poverty. Our people prefer to stay in the islands and wait for tourists” Roberto quote, a 22 years old man who works as a boatman and briefly explain us how is living in Lake Titicaca.

Antes de visitar la escuela, nos lleva a una isla (estimo que es donde él vive), nos explican sobre las construcciones flotantes, sobre la vida de la gente, hacemos preguntas, miramos artesanías, compramos y seguimos el camino. Todo dentro de los Uros se percibe alucinante, como si fuera una entrada a lo surrealista o como un cuento del pasado, quizás tenga que ver con esa sensación de estar a punto de perder el equilibrio a cada paso.

Just before visiting the school, he leads us to an island (I guess the one where he lives), they explained about floating buildings and people´s habits, we ask a lot of questions, look at and shop handmade crafts, and follow our path. Everything there is perceived as an amazing experience, you feel like you were in a place stuck in time, such a surreal situation that probably has to do with the feeling of losing balance when you walk on the islands.

Trabajando con los niños / Working with the children

Roberto conversa conmigo durante el viaje, lo noto preocupado por contarme todo lo que puede sobre el lugar, tiene buena mirada sobre las cosas, es crítico, despierto, se muestra maduro pero sus ojos oscuros, bajo el gorro blanco siguen siendo de niño.

La actividad con los pequeños nos resulta atractiva, nos derrite, hablan español y Aymara, se sorprenden con el “Earth Ball”, con el experimento de los anillos de Saturno y con el Señor Galileo, el ambiente se convierte en suspenso cuando Fabio y Phil arman el Galilescope y en delirio cuando hay que hacer una fila para observar.

Roberto chats with me during the trip, he tried hard to tell me everything he knows about Uro’s community, he has a good point of view on things, he is critical and a sharp person, he seems to be a mature man but if you stare at his dark brown eyes beneath his white hat you can see that he is still a kid.

Activities with children are very enjoyable, melted our hearts, they speak both Spanish and Aymara, they were surprised by “Earth Ball”, Saturn’s rings experiment and Mr. Galileo puppet, everybody focus when Phil and Fabio mount the Galileoscope and erupts in joy when it is time to look trough the telescope.

También hubo lugar para el juego / Also there was time to play

Las actividades de GalileoMobile terminan, nos llevamos abrazos en el alma, caricias de niños. Me conmueve la calidez, me sorprende tanta belleza, me apenan algunas cosas. Pienso en los turistas que visitan cada día estas islas, pienso en esa vida del pasado, días apaciguados y tranquilos, iguales a los de hoy pero con espectadores fugaces como yo.

GalileoMobile’s activities reach an end, we feel touched in the heart with these children’s caresses. It moves me the warmth and beauty of the place, but I am saddened by another things. I think of tourist visiting these islands everyday, I think of old times, as calm as nowadays but without any fleeting witness like me.

Pensavo che scorrendo le “pagine” di questo blog ci sono mille pensieri tristi e qualche volta, solo qualche volta, pensieri felici (uno..forse due). Pensavo che chiunque si troverà per caso (come per chiunque sia capitato qui) a leggermi penserà che sono una persona triste, malinconica, pessimista…ma poi ho pensato anche che non mi importa.

Non mi importa perchè questo è il luogo che cerco quando a nessuno vorrei dire come sto..quando a nessuno voglio raccontare i miei brutti pensieri, le mie paure (tante) e le mie frustrazioni.

E’ qui che mi va di scrivere che mi sento sola, quando mi sento sola..e chi  mi vede penserà invece che sono solare, sorridente..sempre pronta ad ascoltare e comprendere. Questo è il posto dove io sono egoista e penso a me stessa..a tutte le mie ombre..qui è dove dico di essere innamorata e non corrisposta, non ascoltata e non capita. Qui scrivo che ho guardato negli occhi qualcuno e ho sorriso..o nel mio cuore ho pianto.

Qui è dove piango e scrivo contemporaneamente..spesso sono le 4 di mattina mentre scrivo in questo spazio..

Qui è dove mi concedo per un istante di odiare qualcuno..e mentre salto fra un tasto e l’altro della mia tastiera la rabbia passa e io sto meglio, così il giorno dopo torno a sorridere..e tutto resta com’è.

Scrivo perchè trovo sia affascinante pensare che qualcuno cerca qualcosa e improvvisamente si trova tra i miei pensieri, nella mia testa..scrivo perchè ho scoperto che mi piace farlo..anche se magari non sono perfetta..anzi, oserei dire che questo è lo spazio della mia imperfezione.

Qui sono nuda davanti a chi mi legge..a volte sono ermetica, la mia riservatezza torna in superficie..ma sono vera, a volte cruda.

Ma forse è grazie a questo spazio che ancora sopravvivo alle mie solitudini, alle lotte di ogni giorno contro me stessa.

Era cominciato come uno studio fatto per lavoro…e poi è diventato parte delle mie giornate..importante come un diario segreto di bambina.

Mi viene da dire “grazie”.

Miriam and Aaron had a problem. They didn’t like Moses’ wife. So they decided, “Hey, God has spoken through us. Moses isn’t the only person who hears from God around here. We don’t like the way he does things, so we’ll just handle it from here on our own.” Sound familiar? They knew they were leaders. They knew that God had used them to speak prophetically to the people. But what they didn’t know was that they were in direct violation of God’s protocol.

Protocol is a code of conduct; it involves the customs and regulations dealing with diplomatic formality, precedence, and etiquette. In other words, protocol is the way we are supposed to conduct ourselves. There is a right way to approach God, leadership, and our fellow man. A violation of these protocols results in allowing the spirit of strife loose in our lives.

God came down in a cloud and chastised Miriam and Aaron. Yes, it was true that God spoke to His prophets through dreams and visions, but God spoke with Moses face-to-face. God asked the jealous siblings, “What were you thinking? Moses is the one I have appointed as leader. Why did you think you could speak against my leadership? Do you think I won’t do anything about that?” And He did…Miriam was instantly struck leprous.

Aaron repented for their insubordination, and Miriam was healed after a time of confinement outside the camp. But watch what happened next. In the 13th chapter of Numbers, Moses sends the 12 spies into the Promised Land to bring back a report. We know what happened…ten of them brought back an evil report and the whole nation of Israel rebelled against God, resulting in forty years of wandering and death in the wilderness. Where did that come from? It came from a violation of protocol. The people had been complaining about their leadership from the time they left Egypt. Even their leaders began to complain about Moses. Their words and actions were in violation of God’s protocol.

We must watch our words and our attitudes towards others. If we don’t guard our hearts and our mouths, we open the door to strife. If we break protocol by speaking against leadership, whether it is in the home, the workplace, the community, or in church, then we open the door for strife to destroy us and those around us. Let’s purpose in our hearts to do as the Bible commands: to love and pray for one another and for those in rulership over us. When we DO the Word, we close the door to the spirit of strife in our lives.

Jose “onggoy” Estrada, Alan Peter “Jerk wadd” Cayetano, Pia Cayatanyo, Manuel “clueless” Lapid, Joker “The joker” Arroyo, Miriam “Brenda” Defensor Santiago, Ramon “Bong tae” Revilla Jr., Francis “Schmuck” Pangilinan, “crook” villar and “toxic” Legarda. Legarda of course, how convenient for her to suddenly throw away duty to country for her own political agenda. This crime seeks to dismiss the ethics complaint filed against what they call “their colleague” with the usual excuse used by crooks to slip away. The crook villar refuses to face his accusers in the proper forum (ironically before his colleagues in the senate) and he must be guilty hiding out by trolling the halls of that building like a duck in panic excreting. Mga kabababayan, sila ang kalaban. Salot sila ng lipunan. At ang inyong buwis ang nagsusustento ng kanilang magarbong pamumuhay at pag alaga ng sarili nilang anit. Malamig ang aircon sa senado, malambot ang mga upuan. Mga patabain at pabigat lamang sila na wala namang silbi sa taong bayan.

The senate must be cleansed first before it can point an accusing finger at anybody. This is just the first step, and already the 12 SOB’s are stopping the other half of senators from doing their duty to the citizens of this republic who rightfully deserves better than these “business as usual” punks in that institution. The hag Loren, a turn coat toxic fashionista is villars veep for 2010, opportunista talaga. “Onggoy”  Estrada is a guest senatorial candidate of the NP, villars party, and he goes ape at Sen. Lacson who threw him a banana, Alan Peter “jerk wadd” cayatanyo is villar’s lawyer in the ethics complaint, Pia Cayatanyo is the sister of that jerk wadd alan peterputngna, then there is that certifiable fiesty lady senator who also signed it, no need to understand that baliw kasi yun ang senadora. Kikko… is a “schmuck” thats why. And Bong tae (amoy tae nga naman) is a pos. The air head Leon Guerrero, oblivious all the time, probably signed it without knowing what it was, and of course…the crook villar, how stupid can he get? By signing it he cleared himself. Sa sariling wika..ang salarin ang siya ring isa sa labing dalawang ungas na nagpa walang sala sa sarili niya. 

When Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile called it “out of order” a debate ensued, and the proponents of the toilet paper were exposed simply as juvenile punks. They rellied on their witnesses but failed to account for the documentary evidences. They thought they have the wits to run down an old veteran like Sen. Juan Ponce Enrile. According to SJPE witnesses lie, but documents do not. That “made” the punks. That is not all..even those among the 12 that did not attend the hearings signed SRN 1472. Mga gago at kalahati sila.

Yesterday me and Lullis had an ultimate bonding day.

We got lulliga in a bar. höhö… I crack myself up. Lullig Lullis…  ahhh… (’s this lady still a bit drunk? naaahhh, jess’  n a v’rrry guood muood…) ^_^

Anyway, we sat there from 15.00 in the afternoon until 00.30 at night. 9.5 hours.

aaaand…  weeell, let’s just say that we got to talk about a loooot of things… hähähä.

But of course, being artists, as we are,  we kept our fingers buzzy too

by sketching away in our sketch books.

This one is called Ful fot, which is swedish for Ugly foot. A self-explanatory title… the big toe’s on the wrong side… and all in all just… ugly feet, you know.

trovo sempre interessante scoprire che una cosa possa X può avere un numero potenzialmente infinito di interpretazioni.

oggi ho fatto la cameriera agggggratis con un gruppo di amici. ad un certo punto parte uno di quei discorsi che, quando poi ci ripensi, non riesci a capire come sia potuto iniziare.

il discorso era sul vintage. io non la so la definizione “tecnica” di questo termine (e a quanto pare non la sapeva nessuno) ma, bene o male, ci siamo espressi: a me piace, a me così così, a me non cambia nulla.

ed ecco “la signora”. essere umano di sesso femminile, molto probabilmente nata a cavallo tra gli anni ‘50 e ‘60 -così a occhio-, non vecchia quindi, ma che comunque vede quello che noi consideriamo vintage come la normalità. la moda (vera e propria) della sua gioventù.

ebbene, questa signora ad un certo punto fa: “bah, vintage vintage, non so nemmeno come si dica. è francese o inglese? io vi dico solo che, sì, c’è chi li chiama “vintage” sti vestiti, ma io li chiamo vestiti “da soffitta”. quelli che metti via -o riscopri- al cambio di stagione. perchè, vanno di moda? volete dirmi che io ORA mi vesto alla moda?”

si, lei è semplicemente divina per come si veste, signora.

Gårdagen var en väldigt trevlig dag. Skolan var ganska chill och rolig, god lunch och sedan en mysig fika med Miriam. Vi gick till Pause (dit jag drar med alla kompisar) och som vanligt tog jag en morotskaka och kopp Bombay Chai. Vi pratade om allt mellan himmel och jord och hade super mysigt. Sen gick vi hem till mig och såg på East of Eden. Det känns härligt att ha en kompis som också är galen i James Dean. Och du Miriam även om du inte är det än så kommer du bli det snart, det kan jag garantera! Hehe…

There are some people to thank when this book is finally done (a year from now?).

People who are helping me give birth to this creation. I think of them often, feeling blessed to have them in my life.

But as I wrote the Malaysia-chapters I noticed how it slowly turned into an exclamation of love for Miriam, the awesomest girl in the world! (she should have won Model search. She’s so goddamned beautiful!)

I wish I knew her last name so I could send her the book when it’s finished.

Maybe I’ll be strong enough to face my old agency by then, and ask them for her contact-info…

that all depends on how this self-therapeutic process works out for me.

Anyway, Miriam and I had a blast back then. She was the holy light and glory of my entire model-experience.

I’ll give you some almost readable sketch-pages of our journey from Stockholm to Kuala Lumpur.

Yeah, I guess you guys can hear my tone in this chapter… I wonder if she knew how much I admired her?

We hung out again a year after model search when we were both working in Athens. That was an unforgettable journey too… God! There are too many stories! How many pages am I supposed to draw? Well, the whole Athens-trip will have to wait for book nr 2 I think. There’s just no way I could make this over 120 pgs. I rather need to cut it down.

Buuut I’ll give you blog readers one of my memories from then at least…

One day Miriam came up to my room at the hotel we stayed at and told me she had scored some dope. Hashish or marijuana, or a mix perhaps, I still don’t know.

We used to hang out with some other models (I’ve forgotten most of them) and this one guy got stuck in my head for years afterwards.

He was a cool Canadian guy in his thirties. I really liked him. He was allways so funny and seemed to direct his funnyness towards me most of the time.

I felt noticed by him.

Today I’m pretty sure what he was doing was trying to get into my panties, but back then I was so young and naive. Only fifteen, what knew I of the world and the male sexuality? Nothing I tell ya, nothing at all.

Anyway, me and Miriam brought the dope with us out and later that evening we went to his room where there was some kind of afterparty.

I sat on one of the beds.

They all passed a joint around.

I got it,

filled my lungs with the smoke,

drug my breath deeper and deeper, ’cause it didn’t feel like I got anything in me (smoking dope is obviously not like smoking cigarettes.).

Then I held it down for as long as I could…

When I looked up after a while (a while? an hour? a minute?) and that Canadian guy said “Oh God. Girl, your eyes are totally freaking me out!”, weeell that kind of scared the shit out of me.

I understood that something had gone terribly wrong and that I was about to have some sort of a psychosis now. (insanity does to some extent run in my family. This I knew and feared)

I left the “party” and went back to my own room.

As I lay down in bed I could feel my heart.

And how the pounding of it seemed to slow down.

A terror gripped me stronger than ever before,

it was beating too slow!

And still in the process of slowing down!

It felt like an hours wait for the next beat of heart!

An hour?! How could that be?!

I knew, for certain, that if I’d close my eyes now, and let go of controll,

my heart would just stop.

And I would die.

All alone in Athens.

Only fifteen years old.

In a room with nothing but a naked lightbulb in the ceiling and that depressing prison bed I was lying in.

Of course I didn’t die that night… I managed to stay awake until it passed. I chose not to smoke any more dope on the after partys though… That experience really scared me, you know.

And now I live in Malmö. haha!

Okay, so now I’ve told you about this wonderful lady M, (and any crimes that we might have committed must surely be declared statue-barred by now..?) aaanyway, you’re probably wondering what she looked like, right?

l’impostazione moda si nota molto. il suo è un tentativo di attraversare i confini tra moda e arte. certo è che moda e arte possono essere sì considerate due cose vicine, ma non quando si parla di scatti commerciali dove è il prodotto che deve essere al centro dell’attenzione, e non l’estro e lo stile troppo personale del fotografo (a meno che non si parli di nomi davvero importanti).

ammetto che quest’ultima possibilità non mi dispiace affatto, ma ovviamente gli ambienti, commerciale ed artistico, hanno fini completamente diversi.

Crazy ideas are just crazy ideas until people take a good second look at it. I believe before, say during the time of Galileo, people actually got shot or burned at stake because of some crazy ideas that society did not want to exist.

Right now, to heck with society. Thanks to the ever-dependable Freedom of Expression excuse defense, simple people like me have all the avenues to tell the world both sensible and senseless ideas we have at hand without fear of persecution. Ridicule perhaps. And oh, on certain special occasions, there’s still persecution.

Anyway, as I was saying, thanks to the legacy of the real and actual Tita Cory and Ninoy Aquino, I have this somewhat respectable blog of which I can easily utilize to say what I feel like saying right now:

HOW ABOUT A GIBO-MIRIAM TANDEM?

Please don’t shoot me. I’m serious, really. If it’s not gonna be Miriam, and Gibo ends up with the likes of Loren, Chiz, Ronnie, Edu, Bong, Kuya Germs Manoling, Eddie Gil, and the Usual Suspects, I will still vote for Gibo, but as Veep, I’d go with this guy instead.

Why Gibo? Simply put, I believe he is the best candidate from those that have formally expressed their intentions to run for Presidency to achieve the following: 1.) economic reforms; 2.) cultural reforms; and 3.) political reforms.

#1 is based on his globalized ideas in contrast to the more protectionist stance of the other candidates. I hate protectionism. It sucks. As for #2, I believe there should be a clear line between Church and State. Gibo’s platform and opinion on the RH Bill, etc., clearly informs me that he’s the one who will make the unpopular decision for the benefit of our country.

As for #3, I know no one is capable to singlehandedly straighten out the mess we have called Government, but with his record in Department of Defense, I think he has a good start. My decision to vote and actively campaign for him also stems out from his professional and professional achievements in life. I believe he has what it takes to move our country forward to 2010 and beyond and not dwell in the ghosts of the Martial Law Era past.

Finally, I think he has the SMART-orientation, meaning he assesses goals as something that should be Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, and Timebound. In addition, he gives concrete ideas and decisions. I’m a business-kind of guy. I think our country needs someone who underpromises yet overdelivers. Me thinks that is what Gibo has in store for all of us.

At work, I don’t want a boss that I could easily outshine, outsmart, or outlast. He has to be so much better than me for him to deserve my respect. I’m a lousy subordinate, trust me. So why should choosing a President be any different?

Finally, I saw his plight to gain endorsement from the Admin as a very good example of how strategic and goal oriented he is. He knows what he wants and he knows how to get it. That’s very Presidentiable, well, at least in my own definition.

Why Miriam? She almost became President and we all know the reason. She is a staunch supporter of reforms and God-knows-what-will-irk-her-within-the-next-24-hours. Inasmuch as I have no questions about her intellect and achievements, I also don’t have any doubts about her sanity and sincerity. Yep, I was able to interview her for a Leadership & Strategy project way back when I was still in Ateneo. It was a big thing for me because at that time, her son, well, you know, had just died. For her to accept our invitation to barge into her office was a very heartwarming gesture. She might be perceived to be boastful, arrogant, and a megalomaniac, but come on, Miriam is really larger than life.

Now with Gibo’s dynamism, Miriam can compliment it with Seniority and Experience. Man and Woman. Meek and Fierce. New Generation with, uhm, the not so New One.

I know, I know, the Presidentiable and the VP should be aligned and should come from the same party. But as I said, this is just a crazy idea. But if this happens, it will surely spice up the race. Me thinks only Miriam can match Mar Roxas for the #2 spot.
