Vim aqui falar de um assunto que, para mim, é um dos mais difíceis na hora de montar um look: combinar estampas! Sozinhas elas já costumam chamar atenção, então, juntas, o perigo de errar é muito maior!

O mix de padrões diferentes tem aparecido bastante nas passarelas, e as famosas também têm apostado:

A regra mais básica para combinar peças de estampas diferentes é apostar em tons da mesma cartela de cores. A Rachel Bilson, por exemplo, montou uma produção que mistura preto, branco e cinza: deu certo, e as estampas de bolinhas e listras gráficas não ficaram “brigando”.

Leighton Meester escolheu um look que também investe em variações do mesmo tom, enquantoEmma Watson preferiu uma produção em tons pastéis, misturando listras mais discretas com a estampa abstrata da blusa.

Como no último post, coloquei uma foto da Vanessa Hudgens aderindo ao estilo hippie chic (muito bem por sinal), resolvi dedicar um post só a isso.

Um estilo que a princípio é bem rústico, mas que com essa nova “roupagem”, ganha um toque mais sofisticado com direito a brilhos e bordados, headbands, saias e vestidos longos (com muito movimento). Como a moda é cíclica, agora é a vez dos anos 70 darem o ar da graça nas ruas e avenidas do mundo inteiro.

Muchos nos preguntábamos cuando se produciría la primera baja de la temporada, y el canal The CW no se ha hecho esperar. Con tan solo dos emisiones en abierto ha decidió deshacerse de la nueva serie de los miércoles “The Beautiful Life”.

La serie tenía todos los ingredientes para convertirse en una serie de gran éxito: justo detrás del programa de moda que lidera el ranking del canal, la aparición de nuevo en televisión de Misha Barton (The O.C.) o del protagonista secundario de “High School Musical”, nuevas caras no reconocidas y unos carteles promocionales que poco dejaban escapar a la imaginación.

Sin embargo el episodio de estreno fue visto por un triste 1.460.000 espectadores, que se hubiera mantenido aún pero la cifra bajo en el segundo al paupérrimo 1.100.000 así que a partir de ese día lo que se emite son reposiciones de “Melrose Place” para que le gente se aficione a ella. Desde luego que no se podía mantener en antena ya que los datos hablan por sí solos, y ese ha sido el motivo por el cual la grabación ha sido parada a pesar de tener grabados ya hasta el episodio número siete.

No ha tardado en crearse un grupo de apoyo para salvar la serie, o más bien para que terminen de emitir los episodios grabados. Pero me hace pensar que no le van a dar una oportunidad tan fácilmente, y eso que ya llevan un buen número de firmas acumuladas, alrededor de unas 12.000 según las páginas de internet.

En cuanto a mi opinión, yo vi los dos episodios, y no me parecía una serie tan mediocre que se merezca la cancelación tan inmediata. Veo bastante injusto que tras solo dos emisiones se haya cancelado sin dar la oportunidad a la audiencia de engancharse (ya que se rumoreaba que a partir del tercer episodio las tramas se complicaban), porque no han tenido tiempo de ver gran acción. Además la serie “Privileged” de la temporada pasada aguanto con datos similares a los de “The Beautiful Life”.

Parecía una escenografía bastante diferente a lo que se suele ver, aunque es obvio que iba dirigido al público adolescente (como todas las serie de The CW) pero podría haberse hecho un nuevo camino entre ellas si la ocasión hubiera sido propicia.

Esta primera entrada de series será de noticias varias, sobre el mundo de las series. Cuando pongo Spoiler, significa que voy a destripar algo del argumento de la serie.

Mientras en España contamos los días para el estreno de la nueva sensación americana, “FlashForward”, en Estados Unidos se ha estrenado con bastante éxito, a ver como va evolucionando. Aquí en España se estrena el día 5 en AXN, y el día 8 en abierto  (el día 6, se ha adelantado la fecha), en cuatro. Ese mismo día se estrena por primera vez en abierto, la quinta, y penúltima, temporada de Perdidos. La historia de FlashForward, cuenta lo que sucededespúes de que el mundo se paralice unos minutos y que la gente vea lo que va a pasar en su futuro. Por lo pronto, una idea original.

Más cosas, mientras espero que llegue Melrose Place a España (del que soy un fan de la primera generación), sabemos que la serie no está teniendo mucho éxito, pero intentan resurgirla como pueden. Para ello, van a contar con Amandaa!!! Si!! Amanda vuelve. La serie que ha introducido a unos cuantos de los personajes de la primera genereración, como Thomas Calabro (Michael Mancini),  que es fijo en esta revisión, Laura Leighton (Sydney) o Josie Bisset (Jane), intenta con la vuelta de Amanda Woodward que la serie tenga más éxito. Y no sería la primera vez que eso funciona, ya que en la serie original la primera temporada no tuvo mucho éxito, pero fue llegar el personaje de Heather Locklear y la serie arrasó y marcó a toda una generación.

Ya es oficial, la serie producida por Ashton Kutcher, y protagonizada por Misha Barton, Beautiful Life ha sido anulada tras solo dos capítulos. La causa es clara, el poco interés que ha suscitado la serie y las pocas audiencias de la misma. La serie seguía la vida diaria de unos modelos.

Por otro lado, en House y a modo de SPOILER, la Doctora Cameron de House, o lo que es lo mismo Jennifer Morrison, abandonará la serie definitivamente. Será en un capítulo que se emite en noviembre en USA. Las causas, la crisis y el ahorro de dinero para la serie. Es una serie que he perdido el interés por ella, y si se va Cameron, más lo voy a perder. Fin de SPOILER

Además, para acabar os recomiendo una serie de las múltiples que veo (que ya os contaré más adelante), que estrenan el jueves en Antena 3, en prime-time (a ver cuanto dura). Esa serie es Mienteme o (Lie to me), una serie muy entretenida donde un equipo (tipo Csi y todas estas), son contratados para saber si la gente miente. Engancha!!!

Sad news for Misha Barton and Ashton Kutcher’s The Beautiful Life TV Show.

Paramount’s the CW show has been canned after only 2 aired episodes. The cast and crew were in New York filming the 7th episode, when the production got shut down.

It’s  to be expected as zero marketing went into promoting the show from Paramount. Ratings are all about marketing, at the start. Industry insiders say that the show was well written, it just never  got a chance to be seen.

The CW have commissioned a reality TV show, 8 episodes based on Tinsley Mortimer, NYC socialite. What’s Tinsley’s claim to  fame… well? … In 2002, Tinsley married Robert Livingston (Topper) Mortimer, the great-grandson of Henry Morgan Tilford, a president of Standard Oil. Now with Tinsley recently separating from her  man, the  New York media are obsessed with her every antic and outing. She’s a young babe with cash.

Looking at the Kardashians clean up in the fame game with a reality TV platform, expect more networks to follow suit, and Tinsley types to jump into made for  TV reality TV roles. Oh… good luck Misha Barton in getting another gig! She’s a sweetie.

1. Where is the marketing budget for The Beautiful Life’s marketing campaign?

2. Why hasn’t The Beautiful Life’s producer, Ashton Kutcher, stepped up to the plate to market his CW show, via his 3,600,000 twitter tribe of followers?

3. The Beautiful Life features well written characters thrown into the fast paced world  of  fashion, who grow into the character of their own skin by episode 5. Young people growing up in a surreal world to find their own voice is more real than the world they find themselves in. Isn’t this something worth marketing? Yes!

4. Mischa Barton is a survivor in Young Hollywood like Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohan are. They are pop cultural icons. Does Misha have to do all of the marketing unpaid to get the show to rate better? That seems unfair.

5. Why so much money marketing Melrose Place and zero to little marketing a great show like The Beautiful Life? An error of budget allocation perhaps?

One things for sure: Misha Barton needs to go on a double date asap with the two leading brothers of The Vampire Diaries asap; for dinner at Katsuya or Besos and then go clubbing at Les Deux until 2am, asap. A good idea, to take action Young Hollywood styles, while the suits at Paramount pictures split hairs and twiddle their  pencils blame shifting, PR,  PR, PR honey!

“The Beautiful Life: TBL” — #100 “Pilot”

Now, I hadn’t planned on reviewing “The Beautiful Life: TBL” because I honestly hadn’t planned on watching. The CW’s fall schedule has already taken over my life, and I didn’t think I could possibly handle another hour of television to watch. However, the show was offered on iTunes as a free download, so I thought why not give it a try. Turns out, I’ll be watching this one (even if no one else is).

What’s going on…

TBL follows a group of young models all living in a “model residence” in NYC. There’s your girl-next-door-turned-new-it-girl, Raina (Sara Paxton); farm boy transplant, Chris (Ben Hollingsworth); child model trying to transition, Isaac (Corbin Bleu); alpha male model, Cole (Nico Tortorella); British bitch, Miranda (Ashley Madekwe); and has-been, Sonja (Misha Barton). All the drama in the show revolves around the business and these kids, which turns out to be interesting. In theory, this show is supposed to be a dark look at the world of modeling.

What works…

The production on the show is actually quite good. New York looks good, as do the sets and the overall feel of the show. The NY presented in TBL is a very different city than the one shown in “Gossip Girl.” In general, NY has a much darker feel to it throughout the majority of the episode (and I will assume this will be the case for the rest of the series). The parties that are shown seem mostly realistic (there are moments when this isn’t the case), and overall the show’s look is on the top of its game.

The two main characters of the show, Chris and Raina, are actually very sympathetic and interesting. Unlike some other shows about characters in a NY setting with a lot of money around, these characters don’t come off as bitchy or unlikable, which is a feat for a CW show. I especially liked Sara Paxton as Raina. Not only does she look great, Paxton is just a joy to watch as she embodies the girl-next-door role completely. I also liked that they gave her character a little more depth when they showed her getting Sonja the Versace job through some blackmail of  Franco. Chris is also a good character, but I’ll chalk this up to his innocence currently. Hopefully, he will get a little more depth as the season goes on.

Also, I just overall liked the story. I think the CW has managed to air a show that isn’t solely a soap opera about people with ridiculous personalities. Paxton and Ben Hollingsworth shine in this show, and I would like to see how it develops.

What didn’t work…

As much as it hurts me to say so, Misha Barton wasn’t really at her best in this pilot. Honestly, I’ve doubted her acting skills for a while, but I think she hasn’t completely adopted the character of Sonja yet. I like Barton, and would like to see her really do well in this role, but I think she’s really going to have to let go and become Sonja instead of pretending to be her on camera. Honestly, it shouldn’t be so difficult because there are a lot of similarities to the character and Barton’s own personal life. Also, I think Sonja’s secret (SPOILER: she has a baby) is hindered by the character and Barton’s acting. It’s hard as a viewer to care about her troubles when the character is such a horrible person.

The supporting cast wasn’t really working for me either. I can’t really find a reason to care about them, which is what I think brings viewers back to watch a show each week. The producers and writers need to come up with more compelling material for these characters in the coming weeks, or else I don’t think I’ll care enough to keep watching.

Finally, Corbin Bleu’s character was all hype and no pay-off. Isaac seems to have that conflict angle going for him, but right now it’s just boring. Bleu is an okay actor, but if I’m going to become invested in his storyline, then I need the producers to find some way for Isaac to be relatable to the average viewer. This is a problem that I’ve noticed most CW shows struggle with, the fact that viewers can’t relate because these characters live in situations that the average viewer would never encounter. Hopefully, this will become better through later episodes.

Obsession level…

Well I’m not obsessed with the show, per se, but I am intrigued and will be back next week to see if it will give me more to work with.

Oh well… she’s employed, healthy and shows room to grow. Expect her TV producer Ashton Kutcher of The Beautiful Life to come up with something clever, for the show’s marketing via Ashton’s 3,600,000 million twitter followers.

This girl’s ratings need a boost of encouragement. Glee is outshining her 5 to 1 in the same time slot. Ouch! There’s blood on the dance floor.

As we arrive at the half way point of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, Diane Von Furstenberg takes us on a bohemian adventure. Backstage, we looked on with excitement as each of the models had their hair braided, then adorned with colorful metallic leaf crowns. ‘Flawless modern beauty’ was overheard as the inspiration of the make-up artists.

Blake Lively, Shenea Grimes, Michelle Trachtenberg and IMG model, Elettra Wiedemann were among the front row guests. As the noise from the crowd subsided, we quickly took our seats to watch Aminata, Andreea and Du Juan strut down the coblestone runway, back dropped by a grand Egyptian arch. 

Before shows that actually focused on gay people or gay couples, there were a few randomly placed gay characters on tv.

And now, of course with reality tv the number of lesbians and gays has gone up significantly.

But I am not sure if it is really progress when the so-called lesbian relationships include Misha Barton:

The Beautiful Life, in onda dal 9 settembre negli USA

Prodotto da Ashton Kutcher, e con la presenza di Misha Barton ed Elle McPherson, The Beautiful Life ha tutte le carte in regola per essere uno degli show più seguiti dalle fashioniste di tutto il mondo quest’inverno.

La serie sarà incentrata sulla vita di un gruppo di modelli, costretti a vivere insieme per esigenze lavorative.

Oltre ai già sopra citati la serie vedrà tra i protagonisti Corbin Bleu (Chad in High School Musical) e Sara Paxton, che è già stata indicata come la nuova stellina della tv americana. Che voglia spodestare Mischa anche nella realtà oltre che nel telefilm? Staremo a vedere. Altri camei li farà Demi Moore, che vuole aiutare il marito a lanciare il telefilm, nel quale, così pare, crede molto.

C’est fou comment en saison en saison il se passe des choses – Bref Marrissa Cooper un des personnages central.. ouè tu parle elle m’a vite soulée celle là… Bon même si ça m’a choquée comment elle est morte… Faut dire la vérité fou trop la merde cette nana et genre qu’elle nous fait la rebelle lesbienne non mais ça va pas ? alala.. Bref. C’est cool elle est plus là.. n’empêche que cette nana en photo c’est juste super… Ces clichés sont excellents et j’aime énormément ! Donc voilà pourquoi je poste. La giovane e timida Annabelle Fritton (Talulah Riley) viene iscritta forzatamente dal padre Carnaby (Rupert Everett), ambiguo collezionista di opere d’arte, al St. Trinian’s, collegio femminile diretto dalla zia Camilla (Rupert Everett). Tuttavia la ragazza si renderà conto presto che il St. Trinian’s non è un collegio come gli altri, ma la trasgressione e il vandalismo la fanno da padroni. Quando poi il ministro dell’istruzione, Geoffrey Thwaites, (Colin Firth) decide di far chiudere l’istituto, le ragazze e gli insegnanti si coalizzano per impedirlo a ogni costo…

St. Trinian’s è una commedia fresca e divertente, ispirata ai libri realizzati dal cartoonist Ronald Searle a partire dalla fine degli anni Quaranta. Si tratta della sesta pellicola tratta dalle storie delle studentesse scalmanate di  Searle.  Da noi arriva con ben 2 anni di ritardo rispetto all’uscita in Gran Bretagna e negli States e per dicembre si prevede l’uscita del secondo capitolo, St. Trinian’s: The legend of Fritton’s Gold con il cast pressoché invariato.

E’ proprio il cast il punto di forza di questa pellicola, al di là della trama e di sketch molto divertenti, a partire da Rupert Everett nel doppio ruolo di Carnaby Fritton e di sua sorella Camilla, e di Colin Firth, nei panni dell’integerrimo ministro dell’istruzione Thwaites, ma con alle spalle una storia con la stessa Camilla.  Nei loro dialoghi ci sono continui riferimenti e battute sui loro ruoli passati, come la riproposizione della scena in camicia bagnata di Firth che richiama quella che lo rese celebre nei panni di Mr Darcy nella miniserie, Orgoglio e pregiudizio (e non a caso il cane di Camilla si chiama proprio Mr Darcy), o i riferimenti alla “Ragazza con l’orecchino di Perla” o ad Another Country- La scelta, bellissimo film che i due attori girarono insieme negli anni 80.  E cosa dire di Camilla/Everett che somiglia come una goccia d’acqua a Camilla Parker? Semplicemente esilarante.

Inoltre non bisogna affatto dimenticare le “bond girl” Caterina Murino e Gemma Arterton, la bellissima regina di 300 Lena Headey, nei panni della bruttina e impacciata nuova insegnante di inglese, Stephen Fry nel ruolo dello strano presentatore del quiz “Sfida Scolastica“,  a cui le ragazze della St. Trinian’s si iscriveranno come parte del piano per salvare la propria scuola, il grande comico Russell Brand nei panni dell’improbabile prof Flash Harry .  Infine ci sono una serie nuove attrici emergenti davvero promettenti come Talulah Riley, già vista e apprezzata in I love Radio Rock,  Lily Cole e Tamsin Egerton e la band nata da un reality Girls Aloud, attrici e cantanti nella performance finale Defenders of Anarchy. Una chicca imperdibile è anche la versione di Love is in the air, cantata da Everett e Firth nei titoli di coda.

In definitiva una pellicola davvero godibile e divertente.

Conclusione: Consigliato.
