O noua dimineata este in fata noastra. Ea cere sa i se satisfaca caeva pofte. Cele ce se termina in ina. Dar poate inca e prea devreme. Cafeaua. Ador cafeaua. Nu pot face nimic fara ea. Ceea ce scriu azi si acum aici sunt urme ale tigarii de aseara. Oboseala a trecut, sticla de Neastea este langa mine. Nicioidata nu m-a dezamagit.

Dimineata de Craiova este putin mai agitata decat cea de Bucuresti. Oamenii au energie, masinile merg cu viteza pe drumuri libere. Soarele plapand isi arunca mantia calduroasa asupra unor trenuri ce par a fi uitate de timp. O ceata umeda si densa s-a asternut peste tot acest taram nou si interesant. Perfectul simplu ma asteapta la fiecare spusa, iar eu, in loc sa il preiau asa cum ar fi mult mai usor, prefer sa ii ascult fascinata pe acesti minunati oameni, care folosesc uzual acest timp verbal imposibil bucurestenilor agitati si extrem de uituci.

Urmeaza o pizza de aseara, o tura prin missBimbo, hi5, twitter si restul. Vladut purcede dupa o noapte lunga la munca, iar eu ma pregatesc sa infrunt cu forte proaspete o noua zi.

Este din nou dimineata. Instinctiv, ca in fiecare dimineata, ma duc sa imi pun cafeaua. Deschid calculatorul si intru pe twitter ca sa vad anuntul lui smokingcoolcat: Remus Cernea Realitatea: România va fi cu adevărat liberă şi democratică când va avea preşedinte o femeie romă, lesbiană şi atee. Nu m-am putut abtine sa nu rad formandu-mi-se diverse scenarii.

Trec peste acest moment glorios continandu-mi vesnicul ritual prin mail, blog, explosm, youtube si neaparat jocul MissBimbo.

Melodia din dimineata asta e aici, iar pentru mine a venit momentul. Pentru inca o cana de cafea.

Daca totul pe internetul asta e la un click distanta, din click in click am ajuns la Zappy unde am citit de aventurile ei in Bimbo-land, un joc virtual. Citesc tot articolul de la cap la coada inclusiv comentariile si ma gandesc “Doamne, ce tampenie mai joaca fata asta”. Apoi ma gandesc si la faptul ca folosesc contul de Facebook pentru Mafia Wars si Farmville si`mi revizuiesc mental ideea de “tampenie de joc”. Uit pentru cateva zile de Miss Bimbo si vineri, ca tot e weekend, imi creez un cont sa vad ce e asa interesant. Tot weekendul am cumparat haine virtuale, le`am asortat, mi`am schimbat freza si prietenul virtual si am facut cu chiu cu vai Sudoku pentru a`mi ridica IQ`ul personajului virtual de la 70 la 75.

Asta e personajul meu, dupa 4 zile de purecat, ales coafura si haine. Timp petrecut bine, zic eu.

In joc iti creezi un avatar (o Bimbo) pe care trebuie sa`l dezvolti. Trebuie sa`ti gasesti prieten, loc de munca, sa`ti cumperi haine, sa`ti bagi silicon (strang bani pentru asta), sa`ti decorezi cu JPG`uri apartamentul, etc. E destul de haios, imi place partea cu asortatul hainelor si fashion duels. Banii se fac destul de greu in joc, cel putin la nivelele inferioare, dar se poate cumpara credit rapid si sigur de pe mobil. Am cumparat ceva Bimbo Dollars cu Euro ca sa`mi iau niste haine mai de Doamne-ajuta.

Ca la orice joc nou, primul lucru pe care trebuia sa`l fac ar fi fost sa RTFM! Asa m`as fi scutit de la a repeta din 30 in 30 de secunde, de fiecare data cand pierdeam un duel al tinutelor “Dar de ceeeee? Dar eu sunt mai frumos imbracata! Nu`i corect!”.  De fapt castiga tinuta cea mai scumpa, nu cea mai frumoasa. Doh.

Inchei cu o rugaminte, cine are timp 30 de secunde sa`si creeze un cont ma ajuta cu bani in borcanul pentru implanturi cu silicon hehe. Click aici pentru creere cont.

Muito feliz! Todas as minhas filhas estão namorando e o melhor de tudo, nada de namorado feio sem futuro, com camisa de bolinha. Elas estão namorando um cara descente. Muito feliz, como já disse. Além disso, elas estão trabalhando como cabaleleiras e talvez no futuro se tornem secretárias. Não é motivo para ficar feliz?

Jucatorul trebuie sa ii cumpere haine si accesorii “pitipongesti”, cat mai dezgolite cu alte cuvinte pentru a primii cat mai multa Bimbo Atitude (atitudinde de pitipoanca), aceasta Bimbo Atitude iti creste rangul. De asemenea, trebuie sa schimbi cat mai multi barbati iar pe masura ce iti creste atitudinea de pitipoanca, trebuie sa pui mana pe unul care sa iti dea cat mai multi bani. De asemenea, trebuie sa te angajezi iar printre meserii se regasesc unele cu adevarat intelectuale: coafeza, asistenta sexy, secretara. Ai un buget zilnic care se compune din banii pe care ii castigi de la locul de munca si banii pe care ti-i da individul pe care ai pus laba. Di n bugetul ala trebuie sa iti cumperi si de mancare. Dar, atentie! Nu prea mult pentru ca pitipoanca va depasi greutatea ideala de 127 lbs (vreo 57 kilograme), altfel se supara si ii scade nivelul de fericire. De asemenea mai trebuie sa faci vizite pe la psiholog pentru a-ti creste nivelul de fericire. Unele dintre cele mai importante pasuri ale jocului,pentru care trebuie sa lupti destul de mult, sunt, insa, efectuara unei operatii de lifting facial si a unei de implant mamar.

When I was a little girl I had a fully themed room.  It had Strawberry Shortcake wallpaper, bedspread, canopy, pillows, the table, the toys; I had it all.  I never really appreciated how lucky I was to be blessed with such things.  My brother was five years older than I, and he was jealous because he was not allowed to have his choice which would have been Star Wars.  As I remember it, the theory was he would grow out if it too quickly and so sailboats were a more practical selection.   How I long for the childhood innocence that this memory brings back.

During check in at a team meeting today, I asked everyone to share one wish they had for girls or the world.  My wish was that girls would stop seeing themselves through the eyes of other people.  I think I chose that today because it resonates with my own struggles, but little did I know the path the rest of my day would take.  An article appeared on a major news website about positive things girls from our organization were doing in their communities.  As with most social media, people could comment on the article, and they did.  Instead of lifting our girls up a number of men posted sexual comments that sent a number of us into a tailspin.  I thought Strawberry Shortcake was my childhood dream room, and I have never heard of an Alaskan HotPocket, but would think maybe it was a frozen convenience  item with some freezer burn.  Wrong!!  Check out urban dictionary to see what people meant by their comments:

I started thinking about how my day started.  I want girls to see and judge themselves through their own eyes and values.  And yet, media and society plays such a huge role in the shaping of a young woman that most days this is an uphill battle I feel like we are never going to win. 

Consider these examples:

 What the hell are they selling here?  And why is the image displaying a man exerting his physical power over a woman in such a sexually suggestive position?  I know I joke about wanting some force in this department, but you would be surprised by the effect of seeing thousands of these subtle and not so subtle messages on a young girls emotional development and esteem.

Even more disturbing is the Lolita Effect.  We are sexualizing our girls at a younger and younger age through media.  Have you seen the new Dora the Explorer concepts?  I want the dorky smart Dora with a purple backpack back.  I don’t want my children of the village to have toys that role model sexiness before they even got a chance to play with mud pies.  Julia, my favorite 4 year old said it best this weekend.  We went to an event with Radio Disney.  As she was going through her freebie bag I said “Oh look Hannah Montanna magnets.”  Julia seemed nonplussed and said she didn’t like Hannah Montanna because she wore too much make-up and talked too much.  Amen sister.  Think for yourself, and keep playing paperdolls about female astronauts. 

In the UK over 200,000 girls 9-16 are playing the Miss Bimbo game online.  This game promotes lingerie, plastic surgery, extreme diets, and racy nightclub outfits.  You can earn bimbo dollars to purchase breast enhancements, diet pills, and more.  If a game like this can reach 200,000 members in its first month launch, I am scared to know how far reaching its effects will be in one to two years.

I don’t claim to have all the answers.  But I do believe the first step for all of us is awareness.  If we don’t support products and companies that choose to sexualize and degrade women and girls in their advertisements, then we have made one step in the right direction.  For more information on the Lolita Effect and what you can do about check out the research and book by Dr. M. At the end of the day, I still choose to believe in the possibility of a Utopian world that is safe for girls and women, and where all humans are honored for what they bring to the table.    We just have to keep sending the message to girls that the media and others don’t dictate their worth or value.  I’m working on changing the world one girl or woman at a time.  And back to my wish for the day, I think I will start with myself.

Acho que vou ter que preparar uma categoria só sombre a Bimbo. Finalmente consegui chegar a segunda fase, não era BUG nem nada, era uma botãofilia, sério… Toda vez eu passava direto clicando feito louca, mas agora já estou melhor. I’ve been neglecting this blog due to both of these sites. I have also been working like a maniac, and have had a few other things going on, but I feel Miss Bimbo and Twitter merit a mention as significant contributors to my lack of commitment towards this blog. I was sidelined. I won’t let it happen again.

This is a Japanese augmented reality software program. How many things are wrong with this? I’m going to go with…too many.

What are we teaching our children, especially our sons, about women? Apparently, it is ok to hit your (virtual) girlfriend until she cries. NO WORRIES! Just give her a teddy bear or some sort of meaningless gift and that will make it all better.

We all know that Japan has a culture that is different than where I live in the US. Still…it is never ok to hit women, right? Right.

This virtual girlfriend is almost as bad as the Miss Bimbo website. It is the perfect opportunity for little girls to learn that all they need to do is have a little plastic surgery or a tanning bed to make them every guy’s dream girl.

“Become the hottest, coolest most intelligent and talented bimbo the world has ever known!”

It amazes me that any parent would let their daughter use a sight like this. What are you teaching them?

I’m Mary, the intern at Girls Speak Out currently managing the blog aspect of this project.  I decided to kick things off with one of my spoken-word poems.  I do a lot of creative writing, but I’ve found that spoken-word offers me a forum for a strong, assertive voice I don’t always have in other genres.  Because of this, I thought it would be a good example of my own efforts to “speak truth to power.”

What is the big deal??  After all of the media hype regarding the new online game “Miss Bimbo”, I had to join up and check it out.  The game is geared towards experiencing a virtual life where you can choose your hair color and style, cosmetics, clothing, shoes, flirt for boyfriends, get breast implants, furnish your own apartment, and setting goals such as going to college.  All by using your accrued “Bimbo Dollars” from your very own Bimbo Bank Account.The idea of the game is to become the “coolest, richest and most famous bimbo in the whole world/game.”  It reminds me of The Sims meets My Scene Barbie. In order to become the coolest and richest, you must complete various goals such as getting cute hairstyles, getting your own apartment, getting a new job, etc. to pass to the next level.  Your IQ, attitude, Happiness Level, and your bank account increase (or decrease)  as you play the game.  You can also purchase things such as dressers and cupboards, as well as cereal bars, vegetables and medicines.  Your choices must be sound to advance in your virtual life.  I must admit that I was only on level one when instead of reviewing my goals first, I got the “wrong” haircut according to the game.  Then I went on a shopping spree. But I looked cute, who cares! 

The Complaints

1. Mothers are concerned that their children are being exposed to unhealthy ideas such as breast implants making you more popular.  Which they do in the game itself.
2. Diet Pills were once an available item at the market but has been since removed. So no valid complaint here.
3. Glorifying the Bimbo Persona.
4. Apparently the game once called for keeping your Bimbo waif thin, but that has since been removed.

The Pros

1. The game gives you an ideal (and very healthy) body weight goal and you must eat to maintain it.  You get more points for choosing healthy foods over chocolate, etc.  You are encouraged to eat well.  “It’s very important that you feed your bimbo every day. Feed her cravings by purchasing food at the Store and the Market.”  Diet Pills are no longer available.
2. You are encouraged to exercise as well.
3. You are encouraged to go to college and get out on your own.
4. It keeps your kids from getting hit on by 40 year old pedophiles on MySpace, or out doing drugs.

Why I Think the Media & Parents are Overreacting

1. This game doesn’t have a set age it is targeted to anymore.  It is not designed specifically for children.  There are adult goals and adult body-styles in this game. In fact, there is now an age requirement!  You cannot purchase Bimbo Dollars (via text messages that cost you a couple of real bucks) if you are under the age of 16/18.  If your child is lying about their age to play, it’s your problem.  To be fair, I do see the draw of the game to younger children, as I do not have the time to play with an avatar-meets-gigapet.  However, parents it is YOUR job to monitor what your children are doing online.
2. And it’s not like Sponge Bob is getting a penile implant, or Elmo is getting a sex change operation here or anything.  While breast implants are not a reason to suddenly increase your popularity, it is a known fact they increase self esteem in women who are self conscious about their bust size.  Trying to deny that is pointless.  It may not be age-appropriate but it is reality.
3. Diet Pills are definitely not for children, you’re right.  But see Pros point #1, this has changed.  I must admit I wish my doll were a little thinner.  She is 5’6” (my actual height) and today weighs in at 127. 908 lb.

Life In Bimbo Land

Day One:

1.  
   • I signed up, started off with 1000 Bimbo dollars and the first thing I did was go get a new hairstyle and dye my hair blonde.  Typical.  It cost me 40 Bimbo bucks, but it gained me 30 Bimbo Attitude points.  It was a good investment me thinks.
   • Then off to the cosmetics counter I went to buy pink lipstick and black eyeliner and eyeshadow.  I was looking to put the sexy back in Bimbo.  It cost me 60 Bimbo dollars, but I gained 70 Bimbo Attitude Points. That’s almost as expensive as MAC!
   • Then I went and bought clothes because I couldn’t very well run around in a bra and panties.  So I bought a black opera gown (of course!), some jeans, a shirt and a pair of strappy heels I could wear with either outfit.  Oh yeah, and a silver bracelet. Clothes are cheap in Bimbo Land.
   • I checked my hunger (1%), thirst (1.2%) and happiness levels (99%). 
   • Then I checked my goals.  Ooops. Apparently, to go to the next level I needed to have blond pigtails with highlights, an apartment and sign up for training for a job.  
   • So off I went to get my hair done AGAIN. 40 more bucks.
   • My apartment is a cruddy studio for 21 bucks a day! $620 Bimbo Bucks a month may not seem like much but I have no job–yet.
   • I didn’t eat today or drink today because the market that I went to was sold out, so my thirst and hunger levels were about at 11% when I went to bed.  She barely lost a pound though!
   • Tomorrow I will get a job.

Day Two:

• First thing I had to do was eat and drink.  My Hunger and Thirst Levels were at 13%.  But I was still 99% happy.  Right On!
• So I went to the market and found water ($5) and cereal bars ($10) at a market in the city.  I also stored 2 waters (the limit for Level 1) in case they ran out again. You can store, use, sell, or throw away your items, be they food or other.
• I checked my goals, still no job.  Oh yeah, that.  So off to the city Job Center I went.
• The training required 70 IQ points which I had (I’m not that smart apparently), and $250!  Well, I had 815 Bimbo bucks left, which was enough to get the training I needed to make more money. So I signed up for class.
• They are training me as a Baker of all things, and it is going to take 3 days! But I will be making $50 Bimbo Bucks, although they do not state if that is per day/week/month.  I am assuming that is per day since my cruddy apartment is $21 a day and I must eat about $15 worth in food every day. I wonder if I will be able to take home leftovers from my job like in the real world. It would save me a lot of money, but I would gain weight L  Oh well, nothing tastes as good as thin feels, right?
• So, three days of training and it has already cost me $21 for my apartment yesterday.  That’s $63 additional bucks for the next three days before I can start making any money.  Maybe I will sell my water.
• Even though I am in training, I completed all of my tasks and leveled up to #2.  Well see what is available to me in this level…
• Apparently, I already completed a goal by being a Fashion Victim in Level 1. “Buy at least 3 items of the latest fashion trends! You gotta keep looking good!”  Yay me! Check!
• My two remaining goals are to find a boyfriend and go to the hairstylist and get a pink bun.  Apparently so I can lose the boyfriend shortly afterwards. A pink bun??
• I went to check the other stats of other players and a lot of players were my age, interestingly.  The top Bimbo is 31 years old!  She doesn’t have much money but she has TONS of Bimbo Attitude.

The moral of the story is, there are FAR worse things that your kid could be getting into.  Granted the hub-bub is coming from the UK because the game is marketed there.  Having been there quite a bit and knowing lots of people from there, I do know they can be more conservative.  I am not making a judgment, just comparing here to there.  Just like seeing male full frontal nudity at the beach freaks me out if I am in Europe, having Avatars buy breast implants freaks others out.  The point is, Parents, please monitor your children’s online activities.  It is your responsibility to keep your children safe and in check.

So, as of this evening, I have 90 Bimbo Attitude, I am 2% hungry and not at all thirsty.  I am still 127.908 lb and I am still 99% happy.  My stats say that I spend 21 Bimbo Dollars and I win 30 Bimbo Attitude a day.  Overall I find the game a little novel and cute, but generally I am too busy to care if my Bimbo is gaining popularity or losing/gaining weight. There are some games I can play to increase her IQ and Bank Account which I might look into during lunch at my desk but for now I am bored.  And if I had the money I’d go get breast implants.
