At about 9 years old I went through a massive Pink phase, following on from earlier Billy Piper (‘Day and Night’ will take you back, I remember singing it on my way down the hill from primary school!) then Britney Spears phases, but a couple of years before my equally massive Black Eyed Peas phase. I used to make the whole family listen to the entire Pink album, ‘Missundaztood’, in the car, sometimes (if they were lucky) on repeat!

The song ‘Family Portrait’ was taken from ‘Missundaztood’ (November 2001) and released as a single that reached number 11 in the UK charts. It was always one of my favourite tracks on the album, showing Pink’s sensitive and vulnerable side from a child’s innocent perspective. The fact t she drew on her own experiences as a child are reflected in how the lyrics are realistic and lines like, “I won’t spill the milk at dinner” and “I’ll be your little girl forever/ I’ll go to sleep at night” are likely to strike a chord of recognition in many people who’ve sat helplessly and watched their parents’ divorce play out.

Compared to some of her other tracks like ‘Get the Party Started’ and ‘Don’t Let Me Get Me’, ‘Family Portrait’ is more vocally focused and simple, reflecting childhood. The way Pink sings from a child’s perspective is rare and insightful, as is the concentration on familial love and relationships when so many songs are about romantic love. It’s worth watching the video for the song on youtube- it’s powerful and interestingly shows a different family dynamic to what springs to mind when you listen to the song.

The track is very engrained with the sound of the noughties and is clearly a R ‘n’ B track, with a bit of hip hop and pop and memorable lyrics.

My rating—> 8/10

Song of the Post: M!Ssundaztood by P!nk # of Songs on iPod: 1060 Hello, my name is Shelby Anne Marie

Song of the Post: M!Ssundaztood by P!nk

# of Songs on iPod: 1060

Hello, my name is Shelby Anne Marie Catherine Miller and I am…a Music Junkie!

Whew! I am glad that’s over! Now…down to business.

My name (sorry for being a bit repetitive) is Shelby Anne Marie Catherine Miller

Yup.

I am not lying, that is my full legal name.

All I can say in defense is that I am pretty sure that my parents were high as a satellite when they named me, but I’ve learned to deal with it. Besides, the only time it is a real pain in the badonkadonk is when I am filling out job applications or anything that requires my full name. But hey, I could’ve been named something worse…like Butch. Shivers.

So in the meantime, just call me Shelbs. Thanks!

Anyways…you, my darling reader, are probably either a) wondering what the hell a Music Junkie is, b) debating on looking up M!Ssundaztood on YouTube or c) still flipping out over the fact that I said badonkadonk, or d) a perfect little combo of all three.

To option D, I salute you for being on the same brainwave as me!

But if you are just strictly the option C guy, then yes, I did say badonkadonk. Sue me!

Anyways for you option A & D people, a Music Junkie is, according to Urban Dictionary (and yes, it has other definitions on its site for things other than dirty and freaky sex acts), a person who explores the many different genres of music, are constantly listening, downloading, and researching new bands and has their iPod headphones on 24/7 with the volume cranked to the max.

And that, my lovelies, is me.

I have been a music Junkie since my mother gave me the brand new P!nk album, M!Ssundaztood, along with a brand new, light blue, CD player that said Angel on it for Christmas of 2001.

Or…

As I like to call it, the Christmas of Spending the Morning Coloring on Daddy Because Mommy Forgot to Wrap Our Christmas Presents! My father, while a good father, sucked at babysitting. So his idea to keep us entertained was to give us a box of Crayola markers, take off his shirt, and let us color all over him while he watched football.

But besides making my dad look like Rafiki from Lion King, the best part of that Christmas morning was unwrapping the present from “Mommy and Daddy” and finding both P!nk’s debut album and the Angel CD player at the bottom of the box. I blacked out after that but apparently I got hysterical according to my parents and the fancy video camera they got for Christmas from Grandma and Grandpa Miller.

Anyways according to my dear mother and father, I immediately started jumping up and down in my Pokémon Pajamas that Auntie Jenny got me, stepping on my sisters’ hands and feet, and screaming THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!! over and over again at the top of my lungs until I was red in the face. I refuse to believe that really ever happened, despite my parents’ claim that I did, since they have no such tape to prove it. ( I deleted it when I was 10 before they got the sense to send into America’s Funniest Home Videos)

However, I do remember how my mother that day was Bestest Mommy in the WORLD! in my mind, because she totally kicked the crap out of the Beauty and the Beast pajamas Santa got me. Little did she know that she was setting her daughter up to become a Music Junkie, a lifelong addiction.

But yes, that is the story of how Shelby Anne Marie Catherine Miller became a Music Junkie!

What’s yours?

Feel free to eail me your story of how you, my good sir/lady, became a Music Addict! or any questions you have at musicaddict1331@yahoo.com

Now that we’ve covered the Favorite Comedic TV Actress category, it’s time to take a loo

Now that we’ve covered the Favorite Comedic TV Actress category, it’s time to take a look at the nominees for Favorite Pop Artist. Your top five picks are Adele, Demi Lovato, Justin Bieber, Katy Perry and Pink.

Guess who’s up first? Here’s a hint: She’s been the girl with her skirt pulled high, been the outcast never running with mascara eyes. Need another clue? She will never be, never be anything but loud and nitty gritty. One more? She’s coming up so you better get this party started.

That’s right, we’re talking about Pink, y’all.

And did you notice how clever I was with those clues, paraphrasing lines from her hits “God is a DJ,” “Raise Your Glass” and “Get the Party Started”? Oh, right… this isn’t about me. It’s about Pink. But can I get back to me for a second if I promise only to talk about how much I love Pink?

I love, love, love Pink! In fact, I love her so much that I really hope she doesn’t mind that I just used that exclamation point at the end of the sentence — to convey my enthusiasm — when I should have used it to replace the “i” in Pink the way she likes it. But I have to draw the line somewhere. There’s no I in TEAM, but there is one in PINK.

I’m hesitant to admit that I wasn’t one of the two million folks who bought her first album, Can’t Take Me Home, in 2000. Be that as it may, I did appreciate the pop confection of her 2001 “Lady Marmalade” remake alongside Xtina, Mya and Lil’ Kim from the Moulin Rouge soundtrack. That’s also when I learned that the girl’s got moves.

I jumped on the Pink bandwagon with 2001′s Missundaztood along with over 5 million other devotees. That record spawned four Top 20 hits, including my favorite, “Just Like a Pill.” A couple of years later I snapped up Try This on the strength of singles “Trouble” and “God is a DJ” (my other favorite.) I was still on board with 2006′s I’m Not Dead which featured “Stupid Girls,” “Who Knew” and “U + Ur Hand.” (My personal pick from that album is the haunting, “Dear Mr. President,” featuring the Indigo Girls on background vocals.) And the hits kept coming…

Fun House in 2008 launched the #1 single “So What,” and she followed up that album with a greatest hits compilation in 2010 that included the anthemic “Raise Your Glass,” (BTW, those kooky Dalton Academy Warblers did a great version of “Raise Your Glass” in a March 2011 Glee episode. My friend Emily’s friend Kim has saved it on her DVR for months now because she loves it so much. I respect that.)

With this year’s release of The Truth About Love, Pink scored another top 5 hit with “Blow Me (One Last Kiss).” And did you see her on the AMAs a couple of weeks ago where she basically re-enacted her video for “Try,” demonstrating her mad modern dance skillz? As I said before, the girl’s got moves. And if you missed the AMAs, surely you remember her high flying Cirque du Soleil performance of “Glitter in the Air” at the 2010 Grammys. Did I mention that the girl’s got moves?

It may say Alecia Moore on her birth certificate, but she’ll always be Pink to us. She’s got a toughness about her that’s incredibly appealing and a soulful, gritty rocker voice that’s powerful and empowering. And she sings a wicked good pop song.

If God is a DJ, life is a dance floor, love is the rhythm and Pink makes the music.

You disagree?

So what? She’s still a rock star.

TODAY’S POLL: Pink is nominated for Favorite Pop Artist. Which of her albums is your favorite?

Missundaztood (2001)

I’m Not Dead (2006)

Funhouse (2008)

The Truth About Love (2012)

I have here the list of celebs whoopsie looks like a man. I didn’t mean harm with regards to stating my own opinion, I know not every one of you will agree but we have freedom of speech and we are free to express our mind. This distinctive look could be one of the factor that take them to stardom! Their powerful look. If we got beautiful guys in the line, we also got handsome ladies. Making my list are the big names in film industries and entertainment. Truly exemplary actress and performer. Who are noted in their field.

Sigourney Weaver

Sigourney Weaver was born as Susan Alexandra Weaver on the 8th of October, 1949. A three-time Academy winner is an American versatile actress. She is best known for her remarkable role as Ellen Ripley in the Alien film series, which received worldwide recognition. She has been called The Sci-Fi Queen for she often associates in science fiction and fantasy films. To name some of her popular appearances are: the Ghostbusters films, Gorillas in the Mist, The Ice Storm, Working Girl, Holes, and Avatar.

As is obvious to you, Sigourney facial features or facial bone structure is strong and form more like of man, matched with her broader jaw line and her snub-nosed. It’s became her edge to be entrusted with tough roles. Although she is clothe sexy or more feminine touch, she still exudes the manlike full of virile and strength in her.

Jamie Lee Curtis

Jamie Lee Curtis was born 22nd of November 1958. She is an American actress and author. She is known as “scream queen” due to her starring roles in numerous horror film such as Halloween, The fog, Prom Night and the Terror Train.

At first look, you can easily noticed her sure-win figure. Her body is lean size athletic type. Though she did sexy roles, exposing her perfect work out body the female genes still doesn’t ooze forth with her. Her character best fit with action pack roles someone who is hard to laid.

Her career soars high after her appearance in the High School Musical Television series as Gabriella Montez. And She earned critical acclaim for her role in the 2009 film Bandslam. Her debut album V was released on September 26, 2006. That enter the Billboard 200 at number twenty-four, and was later certified Gold.

Hudgens become explicitly brat by taking part in her self-made scandal. She then intentionally take nakie pictures of herself and send it to her boyfriend Zac. Ohmahgosh it would definitely made a headline.

If you don’t know that the girl in front of you is Vanessa Hudgens I’m sure you will mistaken her as a transexual or transvestite. For her facial bone structure is too massive, huge and bulky to be recognized as female. ermm well it can even swallow the entire soft fine face of her boyfriend Zac Efron. She obviously got more male genes than female genes.

Alecia Beth Moore was born on the 8th of September 8, 1979 better known by her stage name Pink. She is an American singer-songwriter, musician, and occasional actress that pave the way in the year 2000.

The single “There You Go” and “Missundaztood” became Pink most identified songs. Pink earned her a Grammy for Best Female Rock Vocal Performance for the single “Trouble” which sell around 3 million copies. Pink has sold over 30 million albums worldwide. She was named as the 27th most powerful celebrity in the world with $44 million earned between June 2009 and June 2010 by Forbes Magazine.

Pink is definitely robust. She possessed a heavy muscular built pair with her equally strong mannish look. Although she is endowed with sexy female curves she can be more stern and firm than any equivalent man around.

Annie Lennox was born on the 25th of December , 1954, in Aberdeen, Scotland. She is a Scottish musician and recording artist. Frontman of the British popular duo Eurythmics. In 80′s the duo became worldly renowned with their singles “Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)” and “Here Comes the Rain Again”.

Lennox set out a solo career back in 1992, which produced several hit singles including “Why” and “Walking on Broken Glass”. She’s been the recipient of eight BRIT Awards, more than any other female artist.

Aside from being a celebrated artist she is also a well-known political and social activist raising fund and awareness for HIV charities in Africa. She is known as a pop culture icon for her distinctive contralto vocals and visual performances, Lennox has been named “The Greatest White Soul Singer Alive” by VH1 and one of The 100 Greatest Singers of All Time by Rolling Stone.

You would inadvertently thinks that the Eurythmics vocalist is a male because of her voice is big and deep-tone more sounded like of a man, adding onto that is her physical features that you is very argumentative whether the vocalist is female or a transexual or transvestite. She got more male resemblance and it’s very noticeable.

P!nk is one of those artists who has a few songs I could listen to forever and a few which are so bad that they become paradigm examples of bad art that I use whenever I talk about the philosophy of art. The low point is her pathetic song blaming the president for every ill on the face of the planet.

So even though her lows completely count against her and drop her lower on this chart than she may have been otherwise, the first four songs of her Missundaztood meant a curious lot to me when I went through a bit of a postponed adolescence in my early twenties (even though I unfortunately either hated or was utterly unimpressed with almost every other song on the disc). It really is perfect teenager music she has here. So, here are the first three songs off that album, songs which I think show what P!nk is capable at the height of her pop powers. They get progressively better, with the last of the three probably being my favorite for those of you not willing to play along completely:

I don’t keep up with many recording artists. The pool of popular people changes too rapidly for me to notice even half of them, and most of the half I do notice have little to offer. But there are, of course, exceptions.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the last decade or so, you’ve heard of Pink and listened to her songs on the radio. From her 2000 debut song “There You Go” to her latest and biggest hit yet, “So What,” Pink has belted out noteworthy songs across five albums. In 2001, with Missundaztood, arguably her most well-known album, and a slice of the global hit “Lady Marmalade” in her pocket, she seemed to find her voice and hit her stride. Between 2002 and 2007 two more albums came out and she was married in 2006 to motocross racer Carey Hart. (They separated in 2008 and are “trying to work it out”). And then last fall came her latest album, Funhouse, producing her biggest hit to date (also the first of her albums I actually bought).

[Please note: the unedited album contains some explicit lyrics; the edited version does not but is still not suitable for children or "tweens."]

Pink has gathered quite a following with her pull-no-punches attitude and songs to match. Perhaps more interesting are the chinks in her armor where she displays surprising vulnerability without drifting into the maudlin. Funhouse is a great mix of the two, a step up I believe, while retaining all the bite that appealed in her previous albums.

“So… So what! I’m still a rock star. I got my rock moves, And I don’t need you. And guess what? I’m having more fun… And you’re a tool…”

her wonderfully rough voice announces in track #1, “So What.” If you haven’t seen the music video, you’re missing a good thing.

As for the album tracks that follow “So What,” well they certainly don’t disappoint.

“I don’t wanna be the girl that has to fill the silence. The quiet scares me ’cause it screams the truth.” [Sober]

“I’m drinking wine and thinking bliss Is on the other side of this… I’ve had my chances and I’ve taken them all, Just to end up right back here on the floor…” [Crystal Ball]

“If the darkest hour comes before the light, Where is the light? Where is the light?” [Ave Mary A]

“Have you ever wished for an endless night? …Have you ever held your breath and asked yourself will it ever get better than tonight?” [Glitter In the Air]

It’s a good mix of fun and serious and is, I think, by far her best album. There you go.

Photo: Andrew MacPherson Having worked closely with various recording artists in the music industry

Photo: Andrew MacPherson

Having worked closely with various recording artists in the music industry for half my lifetime has resulted in me being a fan of very few performers. If you know me, you’re probably already aware that there are no more than eight recording artists for whom I will purchase albums (on the actual day of release) and concert tickets. There are even fewer about whom I’ve been compelled to blog. However, I am proud to say that P!nk (or do I say, simply, “Pink”) is one of them.

More than a decade ago, when I was much more stubborn and particular (yes, that’s possible), I experienced P!nk’s first album by default, as my best friend loved it and used to bump it in the car ALL the time. Her unique voice, which I find powerful – not just because of her consistently evocative lyrical content, actually made me listen on a level I found thoroughly enjoyable. (I have this amazing ability to completely block out music I hate and take myself to a totally different zone. I like to call it “Projectile Elsewhere Living.”) So, from that point, I made an effort to not only listen to P!nk’s music, but also note anything I’ve heard about her from legitimate individuals in my professional circle.

What a relief to experience a successful young female artist who is not only deeply involved in each and every aspect of her career, but also continues to release stimulating music that is meaningful and, in my opinion, worth far more than any value that any record label can put on it.

Just when I thought the journey from Can’t Take Me Home to Try This to Missundaztood to I’m Not Dead couldn’t be any more ideal, I experienced P!nk’s live show and never looked at any recording artist the same. I could go into a review of her show here, but in all honesty, my extravagant yet accurate verbs and sparkling yet accurate descriptions won’t do her concerts justice. So I highly recommend anyone reading this catch her on her next tour. I promise you will be pleased. If not, I will personally reimburse each of you for the cost of your ticket.

This brings me to P!nk’s new album Funhouse. I pre-ordered it. In fact, it was only the fourth album I actually purchased this year. Don’t get me wrong… I like various music genres and have thousands of songs on my ipod, but I won’t buy an album if I believe the artist isn’t genuine. (Thank God for friends who buy albums for their sheer love for music, period.)

Anyway, I played Funhouse for the first time on my ipod while checking out of a hotel. The songs didn’t initially capture my attention the way those on I’m Not Dead did (most likely because I was disrespectfully jumping from a car to a shuttle to an airport check-in line while P!nk was generously extending her talents). But I listened again, without any interruption, once I boarded my six-hour flight. Then I listened again. And again. And again.

As with her previous albums, I appreciated feeling like P!nk invested herself on multiple levels to sincerely share with us a transition into another chapter of her life. The freeing of her deep-seated emotions combined with her usual, but most appreciated sarcasm were a vivid reminder as to why this chick is successful. She doesn’t seem to back down regardless what she encounters all the while unintentionally empowering her audience.

So, whether it’s a song to which you can sing, dance, workout, wallow, drink, nod, hi-five your best friend or virtually assault someone, P!nk naturally conveys messages applicable to anyone at any given time. But Funhouse took me to another level in my imaginary relationship with P!nk. I learned that not only do I adore her as an entertainer, but her selflessness has resulted in my utmost respect for her as a human being. She makes me proud. Proud to be a chick (who, like P!nk, also happens to be from Philly and in the music business)!

Pink, perhaps alone among the current crop of pop musicians (in the radio-format sense of the term),

Pink, perhaps alone among the current crop of pop musicians (in the radio-format sense of the term), has consistently tried new things. Starting with her second album, 2001′s widely praised Missundaztood, she’s jumped all over the place. She’s written songs with Rancid’s Tim Armstrong. She’s revived the career of that chick from 4 Non Blondes. She’s performed songs with Steven Tyler, the Indigo Girls, and even her dad.

This jumping around didn’t always work, but it always kept her interesting, and with her fourth album, 2006′s I’m Not Dead, it paid off big time. I’m Not Dead was one of the best albums of its year and revived her commercial fortunes after the unjust flopping of her previous album, Try This.

For her follow-up, Funhouse, she returns to the team she worked with on I’m Not Dead, and it’s easy to see why–I’m Not Dead was a hit, and as close to a masterpiece as we are likely to get in the current pop environment. And at times, taking a second shot with them pays dividends. The post-divorce single “So What” works on two levels–as an emancipation from an unhappy marriage, and as a desperate scream for attention from a devastated divorcee killing the pain with profusive quantities of alcohol and likely looking for a revenge fuck. She’s got a way with big pop hooks, and with the electrifying “Bad Influence,” she sinks her teeth into one so meaty she’s in danger of having her PETA membership revoked.

But the dividends are too few. There are a number of perfectly respectable ballads here that showcase what a great singer Pink is–something that can be lost in her overwhelming Pinkness–but only “Please Don’t Leave Me,” with its haunting, melancholy “da da da da” underpinning and New Order-style bass line, rises to the level of most of I’m Not Dead. The couple of attempts to stretch here don’t stretch all that much, and only “Mean,” which answers the question of what it might sound like if Pink tried to have a country hit in a world where Kid Rock’s “All Summer Long” is considered country, really works. (The answer: Not bad, but a lot like ’90s Aerosmith.)

One can’t blame Pink for working again with the people partially responsible for her greatest artistic triumph, but unfortunately, the result is I’m Not Dead Lite. This is not a bad album, but as she’s proven she’s capable of so much more, it’s time for Pink to do what she does best–set out in a new and unexpected direction.

“So What”:

“Bad Influence”:
