There are so many things in life that we are asked to accept just because everybody else does.  By nature, we resist change, and we squirm at the idea of discomfort. I’m lucky enough to work in an industry that authorizes creativity, fosters evolution and forces change.

I caught the end of a super-inspiring movie the other night, Notorious, the life story of Biggie Smalls. I had hoped that the ending would turn out differently than it did, but what can you do? Anyhow, the movie was an overall mess, in my opinion. But it did a good job of reinforcing an overall theme that was upheld by the late and great B.I.G.: “You can’t change the world if you can’t change yourself.”

Statistically, it takes 21 days to form a habit – good or bad. Implementing long-term change will take more than just “a go at it.” It will demand dedication, repetition and enthusiasm. (And in my opinion, that last element trumps all others).

I have no idea where the piece below came from. It’s followed me to three different jobs – it hangs next to my computer. It’s my unorthodox reminder that when it comes to change, anything is fair game – including the timeless game of R.P.S.

It also reminds me that we can easily find ourselves doing illogical things when we stop asking questions. There’s almost always another route. And as the case may be, the alternate route is probably painful, distressing and vulgar – But it’s also probably well worth it in the end.

One of the projects completed last week was a series of products on zazzle which feature my photgraph,  Sunrise Over the Columbia River #4. The Columbia River shines radiantly in the sunrise as it flows tranquilly towards the pacific ocean bordered by dark silhouettes of evergreen trees standing like sentinels on the Oregon shore and mist shrouded mountains beyond in Washington.

Let me start by saying that I am sorry for not keeping up with the blog very well as of late. My kiddo suddenly needed to have his appendix removed and I have had very severe bronchitis which put me in the emergency room twice.  My son seems to be recuperating nicely and I think I’m actually getting better a little myself.  It’s been a rough couple of weeks for my family and I, but I think I see the light at the end of the tunnel (hopefully, it’s not a train).    At any rate, here is the quote of the week.  I hope it brings a smile to your face and shines a light in your heart.  Take care of yourselves, keep hope alive, and God bless!

Good Morning BEEE!
It’s raining outside, but the sun is shining in my heart
Yes, it’s lovely being here again and listening to “Misty” after work.

The evening with Erika was nice, although we (24, not 25 waaaah) are still surprised again and again how these nice people like her and others still talk to OneBBO the Rude. Well, perhaps it’s a task they see in they life they have to take upon them. waaaah
No walk today, OneBBO felt lazy. That at least was a positive utterance when she confessed it.

Good Morning Bag of Beans Olli,
Fine to see you in such good spirits, despite the dullish weather. Although I have the impression it gets better as the day goes on and will be nice ‘n dry for the AWW (After Work Walk).
Erika is alway good fun, even if she does leave all the doors open and sits with the draughts swirling round her.
I think it’s a good thing to leave out a morning walk now and then if you already have aches and pains…. this is common cold weather.
Well, not much to report this morning except I am looking forward to our Christmas break very much to have a bit of rest and Besinnung and all that …

Lately almost every morning begins the same.   Mists / fog and light.

Strawbale House Project:

Tomorrow we will be getting additional supplies needed for the next phase of of the house building project.  Once the things we need are lined up we’ll begin making parts again and I am sure I’ll have some new pictures to post of the ongoing progress.
