Tra queste borse sicuramente hanno un posto favorito tutte le Miu Miu, raffinate e sempre di qualità. Ma chi avrebbe mai pensato che comprando una pochette si potesse avere anche una preziosa collana? Si tratta delle Stage Bag della collezione invernale di Miu Miu, pochette in pelle abbellite da borchie e da una tracolla gioiello, che si può staccare ed utilizzare come collana di pietre con tanto di logo della maison.

Hahaha it’s funny how everything ends up in a cycle, couture becomes second-hand becomes vintage becomes antique becomes couture. French fries become fat become gym membership become skinny become french fries. And now runways become teen-blogger talk become designer talk become runways. Yes, this season the designers went back to (their interpretation of) childhood. We saw backpacks, kittens and birds and dogs, chunky heels, mary janes, pre-adolescent models (and A-lines, ruching and layers to accommodate their underdeveloped bodies), jackets, peacoats, collared shirts, peter-pan collars, lots of bows (in the hair) and hearts and polka-dots, pleated skirts, braids, afro’s, tweed, ruffles, awkward layering, pink, navy, orange, thigh high socks and even a ring binder inspired clutch at Miu Miu

With a (thank god!) injection of…sexy! At Miu Miu we saw an artistic naked print all over the dresses, shirts and skirt…(who doesn’t want that!), conservative dresses were updated with not-so conservative panels, fabric were sequin and crystal sprayed, there was transparency, a lot of it, hems were chopped short and sportswear was made out of revealing netting. All hail Muccia Prada who does Miu Miu, she reinvented the 14-year-old, kept her geekyness and laughter but made her sexy, sophisticated and professional. “I was questioning innocence, questioning youth.”

But is it really surprising? No! What was Nicole Phelps talking about when she reviewed Miu Miu? “They didn’t quite fit into this season’s naïf narrative. But they did make playing grown-up look like a lot of fun.”(she’s right about the second part!) With teenage bloggers rising to new heights (think Tavi Gevinson from Style Rookie on the cover of Pop, Bryan from BryanBoy at Marc Jacobs -got a bag named after him- and Vogue Russia, Jane Aldridge from Sea of Shoes at Elle and Crillion dressed in Chanel Haute Couture and Noa Leijdesdorff from Brains and Beauty at London Fashion Week and NET-A-PORTER.com) “Talks to her friends on the phone like an Editor in Chief talks to her PA, stomping around like mini Editors shooting street-style pictures like Mini Sartorialists and getting press passes confiscated by security for being underage” (a not so kind but humorous piece) written by Isaac Lock about Noa Leijdesdorff for the LFW Daily. It’s teenbloggers that constantly push designers boundaries, we have no needy publisher to satisfy or important advertiser to hold on to…we can say exactly what we think. We’ve gone back to having total absolute fun something lost sometimes in the commerciallll environment these days.-

One word about Louis Vuitton ss10, yesyesyes when you separate all the fabrics and pieces and accessories -I mean come on, you can recognize Marc Jacobs styling in 1 second…horror horror- you can see beauty, but lets not get carried away shall we? Marc Jacobs is a genius, and he likes to have fun, and go crazy, and wear skirts…and we love him! But Louis Vuitton is bought by le riche! And the 14 year olds we know don’t shop Vuitton, it’s the 44 year olds…maybe he’ll have to rework this one slightly for the hanger. Marc we’ll forgive you for this one, the music, starting two minutes early without half of the front row arriving and “so wrong they’re so right” clogs made up for some lost points.

Ce manteau, j’avais flashé dessus chez MIU MIU il y a plus de 2 ans. Je l’avais essayé en boutique, mais il coutait la modique somme de 1400€…Gloups!!!

L’année suivante, un équivalent était sorti chez les Chemins Blancs, mais cette année là, je m’en suis acheté un chez Comptoir des Cotonniers, puis Sandro, donc j’ai laissé passé.

Cette année je voulais un nouveau manteau, mais avec une touche d’originalité…ou de couleur pour changer. Je ne pensais pas retrouver cette forme particulière cette année…et encore moins chez Primark… Mais comme je l’ai dis, Barcelone réalise tous mes rêves fashion. Alors évidemment il est noir…mais je l’ai enfin ma touche d’originalité!

Bon c’était le dernier, il est un peu grand, mais je m’en fiche, au moins comme ça je peux mettre un gros pull dessous sans être engoncée…et puis bon quand on sait qu’il coutait 35€, mais qu’il est passé à 20€ en caisse…

Manteau Primark, sac Asos, boots Eram, robe en dentelle Swildens, serre-tête strass et plumes Claire’s, col Promod.

Ah oui, pour celles qui chercheraient Primark à Barcelone, la boutique se situe dans le centre commercial Diagonal Mar, metro El Maresme/Forùm L4.

I’m still locked in: even if the temperature is gone, I’m feeling so badly, with all my bones terribly aching. I spend my days in bed or playing with my daughter or trying to do some chores at home, and nothing more, but my mind is constantly at work. I’ve always had a thing for knitted socks, because I think they are a perfect symbol of cozy winter days and freezing winter nights. Miuccia Prada, who often wears socks with sandals (a trend I love), has recently brought them to a higher and more precious level.

Miu Miu fall/winter 2009 collection includes luxurious black or beige knee-high socks, which complete bra-revealing outfits and heavily beaded dresses. These socks are made of ribbed cotton and are bead and sequin-embellished with floral motifs. The black version is so glamourous.

The beige version has a subtler appeal, but are – if possible – even more beautiful than the black one. I like them especially when they are paired to embroidered satin sandals, so as to achieve a super-embellished effect.

The bell in my mind rang twice when I saw the same socks in a lovely editorial by Craig McDean – It’s a Matter of Glam, featuring Sasha Pivovarova – in the October 2009 issue of Vogue Italia. The contrast between the pale colour of the socks and the bright red of the Chloè sandals is striking, isn’t it?

This is my favourite shot of the editorial, because Sasha is wearing a gorgeous Miu Miu embellished skirt and the satin shoes from the same collection. The muted tones of the outfit are amplified by the neutral leather gloves and by the grey fur stole she’s wearing.

These beauties are sold out everywhere, and this is somehow creepy, if you think a pair costs 435 dollars! I wouldn’t never ever spend so much money on a pair of socks (just the idea gives me the creeps), even if I could, but it’s clear die-hard fashionistas have no such scruples when it comes to laying their hands on the latest objects of desire.

Speaking of (tasteless) trend-followers, here is the first “celebrity” who has recently sported a pair of these socks. I hate Heidi Montag’s shameless conversion to any apparently popular trend, but in this case I envy her socks. I don’t like the rest of the outfit, which includes an Alexander Wang burn-out patterned cable tunic, Christian Louboutin Mamimo spectator pumps, a scrunched velvet coat and – God forgives her – a strand of pearls. Just a word about her hair: everybody knows I’d love to be blonde – I’ve never tried to go blonde because I’m raven-haired – but her hairstyle is too much Barbie even for my liking.

When it comes to me and socks, I rarely use them with dresses or skirts because I wear trousers and jeans all the time, but I’ve sometimes ventured into the trend. Here is the pathetic attempt to re-create a school uniform I did last February, when my daughter and me dressed up for Mardi Gras. In this case, I wore the most beautiful socks I own, made of ribbed cashmere, with lace-up suede ballerina flats, a vintage pleated skirt, a vintage striped shirt and a vintage wool vest. I added a red satin bow hairband and an octopus-shaped brooch to the outfit.

Hace un par de días os mostraba las primeras imágenes de cerca de algunas prendas de la Colección Resort 2010 de Prada fotografiadas en el escaparate de su flagship de New Bond Street. Cómo era de esperar, Miu Miu seguiría los mismos pasos de la “nave nodriza” y también estrenaría alguna prenda de su Colección Resort 2010. Mi cámara ha sido la encargada de retratar éste vestido tan fresquito en pleno mes de noviembre:

Katsui graduated from Central Saint Martins College after studying at Parsons The New School for Design. Yagi graduated from Doshisha University and Central Saint Martins College.
The brand, mintdesigns was launched in 2001. They have been in Tokyo Collection since ‘03 S/S. The awards they won include the Moet et Chandon New Designer’s Award in 2005. In 2007, mintdesigns garage store opened in Shibuya PARCO. They presented their collection in the 21_21 DESIGN SIGHT THIS PLAY! show. In 2008, they presented the opening show at São Paulo Fashion Week for ‘09 S/S. Both designers currently hold positions as guest professors at the Faculty of Art and Design at Osaka Seikei University. In 2009 they presented their collection at the Milano Salone TOKYO FIBER ‘09.Mint Designs turned out a dainty crop of dresses featuring details such as shimmery stripes, textured fabric and quirky graphics. One frock featured a darling print of tiny Charlie Chaplins, while another showcased circular cutouts along the sides.

Heidi Montag non sarà un personaggio amato dalle fashioniste, ma trova sempre un particolare per far parlare di sè dappertutto. A pochi giorni dal lancio del suo libro “How to Be Famous”, che parla di lei e di suo marito Spencer Pratt, diventati famosi grazie a “The Hills”, la coppia continua a farsi pubblicità, girando assieme per le strade di LA e per gli USA a promuovere il libro. Se abbiamo già parlato di lei per la sua collezione di borse famose e iper-costose, ecco che ora  ne parliamo perchè indossa le calze gioiello di Miu Miu. Out però l’abbinamento con le scarpe Christian Louboutin e non molto azzeccato il cappotto pesante con un abito leggerissimo e gambaletti. Heidi così fa notizia, mentre le calze gioiello di Miu Miu diventano sempre più allettanti, anche se non molto accessibili: circa 450 $.

Não é só porque você é a Chlöe Sevigny e está vestindo Miu Miu que você pode sair de casa assim.

After the exhibition at the Petit Palais, the Museum of Fine Arts in Paris, save the date of the Designer Frimousses dolls auction on 19 November at Drouot Montaigne, Paris’s prestigious auction house. Since 2003, fashion designers and artists have worked to create something beautiful to help children of Darfur, crafting dolls that become veritable works of art. The whole amount raised during the auction will support the vaccination programme in one of the regions most devastated by the deadly conflict there. Today, more than 4.7 million people are affected, of which 2.2 million are children. Thanks to the Designer Frimousse operation, under the aegis of Laeticia Hallyday, ambassador for UNICEF France, UNICEF carries out the fight for children vaccination every year in the region of Darfur. Vaccination, a method that is both very effective and inexpensive, would prevent these deadly diseases from a very young age (diphtheria, tetanus, whooping cough, polio) and would eradicate this scourge that affects thousands of children every day. The 2008 sale raised 219,130 Euros, used directly on the ground to finance emergency : in the Darfur region, 260,000 children and 195,000 pregnant women received vaccines. Don’t forget these dolls will be sold at auction on 19 November at Drouot Montaigne:

Après l’exposition au Petit Palais, n’oubliez pas la vente aux enchères des Frimousses de créateurs  demain: 19 Novembre, à Drouot Montaigne, Paris. Depuis 2003, créateurs de mode et artistes créent des poupées de collection uniques, de véritables oeuvres d’art pour venir en aide aux enfants du Darfour. La totalité des fonds collectés lors de la vente aux enchères soutiendra les programmes de vaccination dans une des régions les plus dévastées par des conflits meurtriers. Soit aujourd’hui, 4,7 millions de personnes, dont 2,2 millions d’enfants affectées. Grâce à l’opération Frimousses de Créateurs sous l’égide de Laeticia Hallyday, Marraine de l’Unicef France, l’Unicef se bat tous les ans pour la vaccination des enfants dans la région du Darfour. Car la vaccination est un moyen très efficace et peu couteux de prévenir et d’éradiquer les maladies invalidantes meurtrières dès le plus jeune âge (diphtérie, tétanos, coqueluche, poliomyélite, rougeole). L’édition Frimousses de Créateurs 2008 a permis d’envoyer sur le terrain 219 130 € pour financer les activités de vaccination en urgence. 260 000 enfants et 198 000 femmes enceintes recevront des vaccins. Christmas is under 5 weeks away and we are already beginning to feel the pressure!

We love shopping as much as the next person, but surely there should be a ban on shops playing Christmas tunes until at least the first week in December. We can’t be alone in thinking that Christmas Shopping has lost any of the ‘atmosphere’ it ever had – it’s being flogged to death by unimaginative shop owners. Its time for us consumers to speak our minds: we know fine well that Christmas is around the corner, at least try and keep it a little bit special!

I love Chloe Sevigny’s fashion choices, always. Even when it’s slightly weird but, she has the ability to pull off anything she wears! I really liked Miu Miu’s Spring 2010 RTW much more than it’s mother brand Prada. It’s kooky and cool, just like Chloe. Just love!
