Personally a fan of the big band sampling, and hope that starts coming back in some fashion. Definitely worth checking out these tracks.

It’s impossible for me to even utter the words Full House without thinking of this terrible show.  It’s amazing that it was as popular as it was because they weren’t even able to pull the wool over my eyes as a youngun, I always knew it was rubbish.  LOL.

Thanksgiving at my mum’s is just usually the two of us.  It’s nice.  We kick it, eat a ton and then go visit other people.  This year we went from the expected 2 person dinner to 11 people in a matter of seconds.  LOL.  Dang, now I’m going to have to fight people for the pie and ice cream.  Hey the more the merrier right?

I remember when we first moved to America, Thanksgiving was so weird for us.  It’s strange to spend numerous years of your life not celebrating something and then it becomes a regular part of your routine.  Now I love Thanksgiving.  I love hanging out with my family and I love eating all the food.  Big up Turkey Day.

I listen to my own mixes, play them for others, remix a multitude of songs weekly and although my releases are not being played by every DJ or radio station, the respect by many is there. You should also know I didn’t get into this for the status just the respect and the music.

DJ culture has long been the backbone of nightlife: if you have the right DJ spinning it can be the difference between a lot of folks sitting around talking over drinks or crowds rushing in to hear the best music-regardless of the atmosphere (although flashing lights are nice).

He claims NJ as home, runs one of the most respected super club brands in the world in NYC known as Pacha, and does residencies in Miami (where I hear he has been living for a while), Ibiza (THE dance music capital of the world) and endless other places. He also has a hot dance label, Subliminal and one of the most annoying dance anthems ever, “I Like To Move It” under the name Reel 2 Real. Angel Molina doesn’t need much introduction. As one of Spain’s most important and most skillful dj’s he stands for quality deep techno and house in all its forms. His sets can vary from deeper minimal dubbed out to harder edged technoid sounds. Apart from being a successful dj with a career spanning over almost 20 years, he’s also… well… a nice guy who’s suprisingly musically open-minded. He even gave me the chance to play at the infamous Moog club in Barcelona a few years ago! Still one of my best gigs I’ve done so far. Anyway, he recently recorded a dj-set for Spanish online mag Playground and online sets of Angel aren’t that frequent so you’d better get this quickly. You can find the tracklist here. You’ll find in action among others tracks of Xhin, James Ruskin, Cio D’Or, Aubrey’s Dark on my imprint Mowar and Belgium’s very own Eavesdropper.

I’ve only got my ass in gear and got another mix together for the site! It is obviously meant to give you a better idea of the sort of thing you can expect to hear at our night, but this one kind of went off in a few new directions! Actually, I think I have only played one of these tracks out at ANNT and that would be the Marie Lyons. I don’t really go to DJ without that album in the bag. It’s just too good to leave behind.

It’s a pretty broad brush I am painting with, here, to be honest. I go from Krautrock to Brit post-punk funk, to Brazil, via some yet-to-released London pysched out hip-hop, allied to a little slice of Macedonian funky jazz-rock (why not?), before stopping in the Caribbean en route to the States. Some new. Some old. Some jazz. Some soul. Some funk. Some hip-hop and a whole lot of fun. Hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed putting it together.

From hosting his first one-off event in 1999 to securing his position as Director of Music and Bookings at Chicago’s historically influential SmartBar since 2006, James has become one of the most widely recognized names on the national & electronic music scene. Hektagon has finally done it, the long overdue album “London” is here and boy does he deliver!

Hektagon, born and raised in Palencia (Spain) has now firmly set his roots in London and this album tells the story of his journey.

What he tells through the album is the representation of London’s city from an insider’s point of view, capturing many of the sounds and characteristics of the city through recorded audio snippets mixed across the album, ranging all the way from city escalators, traffic, supermarkets, the tube and everyday sounds that live and breathes through London.

This young producer mixes up a variation of styles within Dubstep that ends with a result of something very unique. Hektagon is aiming to break the boundaries of what is established as genre music and innovating without following the path of current trends.

You can hear many different influences in “London” that include nuskool breaks, techno, electronica and even hip hop. Due to the experience earned through countless collaborations with fellow friends and musicians from pretty much every style of music.

London is a great listen throughout and there are some big ones to watch out for. ‘Tokyo’ is our favourite that is reminiscent of “Running Though” the second installment on Audio Phreaks that featured a remix from Elemental.

“This is London” is also a great track to listen out for that features MC Creamo. A lyrical insight to London’s inner self!

“Stepping Down” is a great track featuring Vincent Kane from Being in which Hektagon mixes rock vocals reminiscent of the Chemical Brothers.

All in all, this album really does show us what Hektagon is all about, a truly diverse individual with a story to tell!
