I have been in and around network marketing for about 18 years. I have had the opportunity to look at many different companies, compensation plans and product lines. It’s 2 days before Christmas and I’ll have to admit it’s really starting to look like Christmas at my home. The stockings are hung the ornaments are up and the tree is glistening with lights. The family will be home for Christmas and we are preparing.

As much fun as all this is – should you stop or slow down your home business or try harder to get new customers? All successful companies will tell you that it is wise to work hard if not harder during the holiday season.

Yes it is more difficult to get customers during the holiday season, but it is not impossible to maintain or surpass your monthly goals. You may have to spend a little more money and time advertising, but you have to be in the mentality that “I’m in business to succeed.”

Think of it like this. When you first started you business was it challenging? The answer for most will be yes of course. Now to maintain at the level of production or sales is that challenging? In my years of experience working in the network marketing business I’ve found two simple approaches to turn anyone onto a business opportunity.

They are the product approach and the business approach.

Starting off with the product approach is usually the best way to entice your audience. When your working with a company you obviously believe in your product and or service and it always shows in your presentation.  A recent survey of product vs business approaches found that 90% of successful sales presentations started with introducing the product. All thought 90% is a high number don’t always start with a product approach.

You must be well in tune with your audience. Are they visiting you because they were turned on to the product or the business opportunity? Very important make sure you know your audience before you start your presentation.

So you’ve started your home business now you need leads right? Yes of course and here is one great way to get highly targeted people interested in what you have to offer and that is through forums.

What is a Forum?

Wikipedia defines an internet forum as: An Internet forum, or message board, is an online discussion site.
People participating in an Internet forum may cultivate social bonds and interest groups for a topic may form from the discussions.

So forums are basically… websites where you can discuss any topic. Topics such as your business opportunity. A forum is also what I like to call an indirect promotional tool. Here is an example: Lets say the topic is about a Top MLM Company. The last post on the forum displays a comment a little something like: Hello everyone I think MLM’s are all schemes and you cant make money off of them.

Then the next post could be your reply. “You couldn’t be father from the truth. I love MLM and I’ve made several thousands of dollars and you can too.” Your resource box or signature line would then read something like: Are you a stay at home mom and want to know how to start your own online business for $1.00. So again a forum is a discussion board where you can search any topic being discussed and where you indirectly advertise your service, business opportunity, or product.

Spring Forward

Our Spring Mission provided enough pencils and books to outfit 22 Kenyan schools for an entire year. Many of these supplies were donated from surplus American educational district inventories and private vendors. Before our intervention, these schools had empty libraries, only one pencil per class to share, and an allocation of one sheet of paper per child per week. The medical supplies delivered were in support of HART, a medical charity that specializes in free orthopedic and plastic surgeries. Their next annual mission in Kenya will take place in November and a dental expedition is also being planned for 2010.

Growing up in the later part of the 1970’s and 80’s my parents signed up into Shaklee, which is a great mlm opportunity. I do indorse Shaklee I believe it is an excellent corporation with great potential to achieve a substantial income. That is not why I am writing this. The reason is I believe we live in a point in time where it is the most opportune time to get involved in multi-level marketing itself. Much like it was when I was growing up there were some rough times going on in the economy. I believe it was 1978 or 1979 that my folks got involved in Shaklee. My Dad had stated that the mlm industry was growing fast at that point in time because of the recession going on.  My dad still had to work his butt off but he was able to build a substantial business. They did have their ups and downs but ultimately it was the drive that my father had and my mothers wonderful people skills. One thing that was great was that they were a team . My dad was the recruiting side and my mom had a strong handle on the product and dealing with the actual product sales and people. If you have a dynamic like this that’s awesome, my wife and I also work together, USE IT!

What I am still amazed at is how they succeeded in marketing it the traditional way of network marketing. But nowadays we have a wonderful tool called the internet to reach out to vast amounts of people out there and it growing every day. The problem with most people is that it seems so overwhelming. But no matter what, the biggest problem is getting leads and building that list of fiends’ and family your up-line preaches about. But what if you are out of options or, your like I am, my family was already involved in network marketing, so family was out for me. Besides I didn’t want to bug my family or my friends for that matter. If I were to bring friends and family into my company I want to show them it can work. When I was growing up in the late 70’s and 80’s my folks signed up into Shaklee, which an excellent mlm opportunity.
