Well, to tell you the truth, the application base of Windows Mobile phones is very small compared to that of iPhone’s.Now that I have a nice little keyboard that doesn’t suck, I can finally blog via the phone. So I searched for an app that works on windows mobile but the ones available are either very old or look like crap.

So what I did was to open up Opera browser and load m.wordpress.com and there certainly was the mobile version of wordpress. It is very light weight and seems to do the job well. I’m actually typing this blog post from there.

Well tbh, there isn’t much formatting options available iu this editor, but I guess adding more stuff would slow it down or defy the purpose of this website.

Anyways, I think this is enough for a testing post.

Dutch news site Nu.nl reports a shift of web traffic from their mobile website to their mobile apps for iPhone and Android.

In November, the traffic on the Nu.nl mobile site saw a 20% decrease to 20 million pageviews.  However, traffic on their mobile applications saw a rise.  The iPhone app is by far the most popular; numbers for Android are still rather insignificant. 

In the Netherlands, about 2,5 million people log onto the Internet via their mobile phone every month.  About half of all mobile phones sold with a subscription is a smartphone.

Recently the NWMLS Mobile website became available to agents.  It’s designed so that agents with a smart phone can look up properties while they are out in the field.

The mobile site can be found by following this link.

Because it is a mobile version of the site, users aren’t able to access all of the features of the NWMLS Locator system.  Reports can’t be emailed to clients; map searches and full property history aren’t available.  Also, it appears that users have to reenter their contact database into the mobile version.

But this is a great system to use to use when a client asks about a property while out looking at places or when unexpectedly running into someone who would like property information.

The mobile version can’t replace the standard MLS, but it’s a great tool to use when on the go.

I was always aware of WordPress’s absolutely gorgeous mobile site, it’s design is just one of the best out there.

However, I couldn’t write posts on it. So now that I’m really going to try and keep up with blog, I figured it’d be super convient to be able to post a short note or picture or two from my phone to the blog. Sort of like a Flyers-only Twitter account on here, in addition to the full-length posts. With a mobile way of posting, I could do sort of like live-blogs too.

Well, guess what. I searched the app store and there was “an app for that”. Actually, I’m using it right now. And the only thing you can do is write posts but that’s fine with a mobile site as good as WordPress’s.

So expect that coming soon.
I may make a Twitter account for this when someone starts reading this.

O usuário deve informar todos os dados do carro, inclusive quando e quanto abasteceu, lembretes, e o nome do motorista. Assim com sistema de alertas, o aplicativo avisa ao usuário quando está na hora de renovar o seguro ou a carteira de habilitação e gera relatórios de abastecimento com gráfico de consumo médio e traz informações importantes sobre check-ups que devem ser feitos para manter o veículo em bom estado.

Já o mobile site (m.bbseguroauto.com.br) possui algumas funções compatíveis com o aplicativo como, por exemplo, o contato via click-to-call com a assistência técnica e a localização de serviços próximos ao usuário. Além destas funções similares ao aplicativo, no mobile site os usuários têm acesso a notícias do trânsito das cidades de São Paulo e Rio de Janeiro, ao serviço de mapas e rotas e pode consultar preços médios de veículos. Os usuários que forem correntistas do Banco do Brasil podem, ainda, renovar sua apólice BB Seguro Auto.

Bluetooth marketing + SMS
Por fim, durante o eBusiness & Mobile Strategies Forum promovido pela Febracorp, a Brasilveículos realizou uma ação de Bluetooth marketing. Foram instalados 4 totens bluetooth que enviavam mensagens para os celulares dos participantes convidando-os a visitarem o estande da empresa e receberem um brinde.

Mobile Advertising
Ao entrar no mobile site o Globo (moglobo.globo.com), encontramos mais uma ação mobile realizada pela Brasilveículos. A ação de mobile advertising consiste em um banner localizado na home do site da Globo, que direciona o usuário ao mobile site da seguradora onde ele pode realizar o download do aplicativo acima citado.

Che i dispositivi mobili giochino  un ruolo sempre più centrale nella nostra vita è un dato di fatto, per questo motivo molti siti e blog decidono di adottare una versione studiata appositamente per i mobile device.

Mondi Invisibili utilizzando una piattaforma wordpress non è da meno, ed è altamente navigabile da palmari e cellulari.

Ogni post viene visualizzato attraverso un abstract, con le prime righe dell’ articolo, i tag, la data di pubblicazione ed il numero di commenti. Cliccando su uno di essi, si può leggere il post in tutte le sue parti:

Questo tema che viene visualizzato dai dispostivi di ultima generazione si chiama WPtouch, gli altri invece visualizzeranno il tema WordPress Mobile Edition, anch’ esso molto gradevole nella grafica e di facile leggibilità.

The site is optimized for iPhone, Blackberry and other smartphones. A Volkswagen lançou mais um aplicativo, desta vez para divulgar o Golf GTI 2010. Nele é oferecido ao usuário uma demonstração do mobile game Real Racing.

Para jogá-lo, o usuário tem a opção de escolher a pista de corrida e a cor do Golf GTI. Durante a corrida, o acelerômetro serve para que o usuário direcione seu carro e o touch screen o ajuda a freiar. O aplicativo permite, ao usuário, assistir a um vídeo detalhado do novo modelo do Golf. Além disso, o usuário é direcionado a App Store para baixar o jogo completo. Cabe ressaltar que o jogo completo não é exclusivo da Volkswagen e custa US$ 6,99.

O Real racing GTI ainda direciona o usuário a um mobile site promocional dos EUA que traz as especificações do carro, uma lista, com vídeo, dos melhores jogadores e permite a participação na promoção que dará 6 edições especiais do Golf GTI 2010 aos 6 melhores jogadores.

We're all about helping you find new ways to explore the city.

I discovered this new site, Foursquare, that works with social-networks, games, and mobile integration in a unique way. The problem is that there are a few developers working for them and only so many cities on the site itself. Though my experience with the site is limited at West Lafayette, I am able to help out with the young site by tapping into the Indianapolis area.

Initial Views on the Classy Spin on a Classic Game

I signed up and am working with an Indianapolis account. I first love the concept of Foursquare. It defines the goals of Dennis Crowley, Naveen Selvadurai, and Harry Heymann. That’s right, three developers with a great idea. Here are some of the features they focus on:

Adding Tips – For each venue within a city, anyone can add their tip or favorite thing to do at that venue. Whether a favorite meal to order, game to play, or really any task to complete, a person puts it up on the site and everyone can achieve that goal.

Adding To-Do List – When visiting other people’s tips and profiles, you see what they have accomplished at various locations. In response, you can add those tasks to things you have done yourself, or things that you want to do. This creates your to-do list, and you can prioritize that list however you want.

Checking In with your Phone – Now here is the fun part. If Foursquare is pushing messages to your mobile phone (i.e. I have an iPhone with the Foursquare app installed.) then it will let me know that I am near a location that a task exists for me. If I want, I can take that advice and complete the task and “Check In” that venue. Not only does it keep track of everywhere you go, but it also shows what other people have done at that particular venue. You can choose then to complete those as well.  

Connecting with People in a Common City – This site and app does have a built in social-network. (I feel this is almost becoming standard for these types of sites.) The great thing is that if you are on Foursquare, you can see others who are friends and what not within your vicinity. If you are at the same venue, your phone will let you know.

Debugging: Beta Users to the Rescue

This site has potential to be fun and useful, but the bugs are heavy. So, I decided to help out by finding a quick alternative route to a problem, and making a suggestion for an update to the developers. For my comment, I simply discussed an error that was throwing back due to a duplicate reading in the code. All of those years in CGT and reading code finally pay off with this chance to help fellow developers.

Toyota and the New York Giants launch a event based campaign at the New York Giants’ season opener which ultimately delivered a 14 percent increase of downloaded information about the Toyota campaign to their handsets.  The campaign used Bluetooth for location based video content talking about the campaign and supported it with a branded mobile site.

Volkswagen of America has launched a smartphone-optimized Web site, at M.VW.com. The mobile site is compatible with all Web-enabled cell phones and mobile devices.

It lets consumers research VW vehicles and lists local dealer numbers. Via digital firm AKQA, it also links to national and regional special offers, free ringtones and wallpaper from Volkswagen advertising.–Karl Greenberg - Marketing Daily
