Some Notes:
- 00 QAN[T] is Sexy.
- Beside that, the main weapons are the Sword Bits and the Quantum System.
- Much like the TV Series, the 00 QAN[T] is designed by Kanateke Ebikawa, while the other Gundams are deisgned by Takayuki Yanase.
- Gundam Harut is a Zero-G Machine with a design that combines its functions with the GN Archer.
- Zabinya is a suped up Cherudim, with more heavy weapons. (It also shares some commonality with Gundam Dynames)
- Raphael is a different design altogether (which is more in line with the Innovede type Suits).

[...]The middle ground that Gundam now sits is much more of a double edged sword since I have trouble digesting super robot and real robot cocktails. It just doesn’t go far enough in either direction to be terribly satisfying as say Mazinger Z which was an unadulterated celebration of Super Robot tropes. I think had they kept it more in line with real robot that any political message they had in S1 when they tossed around conflicts that were then ongoing they probably would have been more successful.

Japan, I love you for being a society of closet perverts.

Recently, a live action adaptation of Space Battleship Yamato, a beloved anime franchise (familiar to some anime fans as the dubbed Star Blazers in the US) in the works.

A separate, animated theatrical film is scheduled to be released on December 12 in Japan.

As one would expect, a event this big this will involve a shitton of merchandise tie-ins.

One such Tie-in from the Aeon Group, is a line of underwear featuring iconic images of the series, such as the title logo.

The attention grabber is the pair of underoos that feature a silhouette of the ship with its main weapon strategically placed in a certain area, and the weapon name emblazoned across in red or gold.

And yes, these are for real.
Hey, at least, they’re not Fal-Tor-Pan Cups.

Title says it all. This is looking really good…I love how the characters and mecha’s don’t have the overly-plastic look that they had in Mobile Suit Gundam 00….and I also love the slightly retro character designs.

ANN, the Anime News Network has posted an interiview with Mobile Suit Gundam 00 Director Seiji Mizushima and Head Writer Yosuke Kuroda.
Although short, it does give some insight on how the series was developed.
It’s worth a look.

Finished watching Mobile Suit Gundam 00 last week. I think I used up an entire roll of tissue paper while watching the last few episodes.

WARNING: THE REST OF THIS POST CONTAINS A LOT OF SPOILERS.

Too many deaths and painful losses were depicted in this series. Although it hurt and made me cry so hard my eyes were swollen for a day or so, I still enjoyed watching the entire thing. For some reason I liked how series captured the kind of things that happen during times of war. No one is safe from it, not even the civilians ensconced in their homes or the supposedly powerful Gundam Meisters. No uber Mary Sues or Jesus Yamatos in this series; no sir.

Lockon Stratos broke my heart. I adored him from the beginning, but then he just had to up and pull that stupid revenge stunt. I literally screamed when he got injured saving Tieria, and I couldn’t stop crying when he died because of that hot bastard Ali.

Speaking of psychos…the Trinity siblings? I hate them, especially Michael and Nena. Johann was tolerable (except for his strange preference for cycling shorts), but Michael and Nena were just infuriating. I was very, very happy when Ali killed Michael and Johann, but was disappointed that that bitch Nena got away.

I absolutely despise Nena. I’m fine with cutesy characters, and I can tolerate psychos to some extent. But a psycho who acts like an innocent twit just to get away with the shit that she does? I hate it. Fuck you, Nena Trinity. I hope you die a slow and painful death in season two.

…dammit, now I’ve lost my train of thought and wasted my time ranting about her and making a fugly image of her. Ffffffffffff.

Anyway.  What else can I say about Gundam 00… the animation is consistently good; I didn’t spot a single episode with animation/art that looked rushed or subpar. The music is great…but then with big shots like L’Arc~en~Ciel and Stephanie doing the theme songs and BGMs composed by Kenji Kawai (the same guy who composed music for the Ghost in the Shell movie), you can’t really go wrong. The mobile suit designs are awesome. They look sexier less clunky compared to most other mobile suits from the other Gundam series, and somehow the designs seem to make more sense…well, I still sort of don’t get Nadleeh’s “hair”, but it apparently has a function and still looks cool in its own way.

I think my only complaint about the series is the fashion design. I mean, sure, some of Sumeragi’s outfits were cute, but some of the clothes were just awful, as illustrated by Johann’s cycling shorts and Tieria’s pink cardigan.

All in all, Mobile Suit Gundam 00 is one of my favorite anime series to date. And with those damned cliffhangers at the end of season one (…is that a Tieria clone or did he just get a perm…?), I need to buy myself a copy of season two before I start trawling the net for spoilers.

I just started watching Mobile Suit Gundam 00 recently (which might probably come off as strange because I bought my Gundam Nadleeh before I even got to watch the series), and I can honestly say that I like it. Watching some of the other Gundam series (like Wing and Seed) was kind of a chore for me, so I’m surprised that I’m actually looking forward to watching more of 00.

I like how the story centers on the the power struggles between nations and the prevention of war and terrorism. I find it somewhat timely, and the themes are something that most people can relate to. The characters seem pretty decent too. None of them are really annoying (i.e. so stupid and/or badly written/designed that I can’t stand them) thus far…although I sometimes want to punch Setsuna F. Seiei in the face for being a robotic, Gundam-obsessed moron and bitchslap Tieria Erde for being such a tight-ass.

Lockon Stratos is my favorite so far. Not just because he’s the hottest Gundam Meister there is, but because I like his laid-back-but-serious-when-necessary attitude, he pilots a smexy Gundam, and has an entire crew of cute little bouncing Haros.  Ali Al-Saachez is hot too, but I’ve been warned about his personality beforehand, so I’ll try to stay away from him.

I have mixed feelings about Allelujah Haptism. Growing up in a predominantly Catholic country, his name just makes me frown whenever someone mentions it. And his voice is…too young. Whenever he and Tieria are having a conversation, I catch myself wishing that their voice actors would trade places. My boyfriend says that there’s a reason for his voice being like that though, but since I have yet to find out what those reasons are, my dislike for it will remain. Al (I will call him that because his real name is a pain to type and, like I said, it makes me frown) is pretty okay overall, though; his name and voice are the only things about him that bug me.

Seeing as I’ve only watched ten episodes of the series, my opinions are subject to change. I have a feeling I’ll eventually start hating/bitching on something (or someone), and I’ll be sure to post my raves/rants here.

00 Special Edition 1 will be released 10/27

EDIT: Bandai seems to be making a full court press of assorted Gundam 00 merchandise in order to wet the palletes of the fanbase until the premiere of the feature film. Of course, none of this stuff will hit stateside, which is a shame, as some of the merch looks pretty interesting.  More in a few.

Aside from the major differences in characters, the layout of the pictures are similar. It also seems that Animation Character Designer Michinori Chiba’s art has evolved considerably from 2007. Setsuna is less rounded and shrimpy on the SE1 Cover.

Actually, it’s nothing more than a nonsensical SD short that is  ”set” between the end of the series (Season 2) and the upcoming movie:

Long story short: Neil Dylandy’s ghost invites Setsuna, Tieria, Lyle, Allelujah and Soma to heaven for cookies, pies and cakes.
“Fats” Goodman (thank you Gundamn!) is the baker/shopkeeper along with the rest of the A-LAWS. Half of the dead characters show up in some form.

Yes, that really was the plot. Animu can be quite strange.

For anyone expecting that this was some type of trailer, Its not.  Sunrise did a short just like this around June of last year in between seasons 1 & 2 , except that one was actually funny.

Actually, I’m just glad some new information has come out about regarding the 00 Movie.

This better not be a hoax.

Similar to Unicorn,  there will be a archive page once more information becomes available about this film.

EDIT: For now I’m gonna file this as a troll/hoax.

So far, there has been no photo information to back this up, no has any information been released to any of the major anime-news sources (e.g. :Anime Magazines, Model Magazines Photojournals, etc. ) to verify that such line art for the MS in question exist.  I also find it kind of odd that at a big convention like Gundam Expo, no information about the upcoming movie has been released to the news media.
So, for now, I’ll just remain skeptical until something official becomes available.

Sunrise has finally given their English speaking interns somethin useful to do because the Gundam Unicorn english site is finally open.

Character, Mecha, Story are open as well as a cast list. Notables are Hiro Shimano (Ayoto Kamina in RahZephon) and Wataru Takagi (GTO). Actors who previously worked on Gundam series are Daisuke Namikawa (Al  fom Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket) and course, Shuichi Ikeda (His Charness) as Villian Full Frontal.

Na, túl vagyok életem első Gundam sorozatán .

Történet: 2307-ben járunk. A világ országai 3 nagy tömbbe tömörültek és az embereket a Föld körül kialakított napenergia hálózat látja el. Ezen kívül a technikai fejlődés is nagyon látványos, már számos expedíció bejárta a  Naprendszer néhány bolygóját. Ez mind szép és jó lenne, csak egy baj van: az emberek mindettől függetlenül nem változtak, életükben még mindig meghatározó szerepet játszik a háború. Ez ellen lépnek fel főszereplőink, egy terrorcsoport, a Celestial being tagjai…

A Gundam 00 a Gundam franchise sokadik tagja. Mivel nem vagyok benne túl járatos, így olyan következtetéseket nem tudok levonni, hogy ez a sorozat mennyiben rosszabb/jobb, mint az elődei. Ettől függetlenül azt mondhatom, hogy egy igen csak jól sikerült háborús sorozat.

Rengeteg szereplő van, így mindenki könnyen találhat magának kedvencet (nekem ide tartozik a Celestial being szinte összes tagja, de a leginkább Tieriát kedveltem). Persze ez sajnos magával vonja azt is, hogy van benne néhány idegesítő és hasznavehetetlen szereplő is (bár míg az első kettőnek legalább lett fontosabb szerepe, addig az utóbbinak kb. 10 percig volt egyszer haszna).

Kellett egy kis idő, míg sikerült ráhangolódnom a Gundam 00 világára, de ha az ember eljut idáig, onnantól megállíthatatlanul nézi tovább, hisz a történet nagyon lebilincselő. A sorozat legerősebb része persze a harcokban van, amikre nem is lehet panasz, hisz az animáció gyönyörű, maguk a csaták pedig mozgalmasak.

A seiyuuk szintén remekeltek. A főbb szerepekben hallható többek közt Miyano Mamoru, Kamiya Hiroshi, Yoshino Hiroyuki és Miki Shinichiro.

A Gundam 00 két 25 részes szezonból áll, hisz a japánok jó szokás szerint ezt is ketté szedték… de ha ez még nem lenne elég, jövőre érkezik egy movie is (ez szerencsére nem azt jelenti, hogy a sorozat ne lenne lezárva).

Egy apró kis negatívum így a végére: nagyon nem tudták kezelni a romantikus szálakat. Persze ez annyira nem zavaró, hisz ez nem a központi eleme a sztorinak, de lehetett volna jobb is. A párok már az első pillanattól nyilvánvalóak, ami nem is baj, de általában csak annyit láthatunk, hogy X és Y már összejöttek. Egyedül talán Saji és Louise kapcsolata igazán kidolgozott, de ők meg túl sokat szenvedtek a sorozat folyamán, szóval ez nem igazán vigasztalt .

Elsősorban azoknak ajánlanám ezt az animét, akik szeretik a háborús sztorikat és a mechákat.

הכל התחיל לפני כשנתיים, אי שם בשנת 2007, שנה מוצלחת כ”כ להיסטוריית האנימה. במאי שמנמן ואוטאקו סביר להניח, קם משועמם יום אחד בבוקר (Yatate Hajime – במאי לא מעט דברים, אם זה משנה למישהו. אני עדיין תוהה לגבי הגיל של הבנאדם @_@), והגיע למסקנה שאלף כותרים זה לא ממש מספיק, ושצריכים עוד שני כותרים בולטים להוסיף להסטוריית הגנדם ומנועי החיפוש של AniDB(ל) וMyAnimeList. הדבר הוליד את הדור הבא של אנימות הטרגדיה והמכה בארץ, ועל המציאה קפץ כל חובב מכה, בעוד אחרים פסלו אותה על הסף (מכה אינה פונה לקהל יעד נרחב כ”כ, במיוחד בארץ). שני הכותרים לימים זכו לתואר ‘Kibou Senshi Gundam 00′ ו(הפלא ופלא) Kibou Senshi Gundam 00 Season 2 (הרי סנרייז הוכיחו לנו ששמות לעונות המשך זה הצד הנורא חזק שלהם), “חליפה ניידת גנדם’, והיוו פריצת דרך בתחום המכה (שעכשיו לא פונה רק לחובבי אנימות נוסטלגיה אלא גם ל.. פנגירלז).

במשך כמה שבועות שרר מן ‘שקט קהילתי’ סביב האנימה, והרעש בצאתה לא היה גדול במיוחד, בשונה משאר האנימות שיצאו ובלטו באותה עונה (ודעכו מהר מאוד אחר כך). אך המעריצים התרבו כמו זבובים לבישולים של נונה ופנגירלז מול דוכני יאוי בכנס ממוצע, משום שבשונה משאר אנימות המכה, גנדם ירתה לכל הכיוונים ופנתה לפלח צופים נרחב במיוחד – פנגירלז שנהרו בעקבות הבישים, חובבי אנימות גנדם ומכניקה, אנשי הדור הישן וחובבי רימייקים, אוהבי דרמות וטרגדיה, ואיך לא נשכח – אוהבי סטסונאים כורדיים מתאבדים שמאוהבים בגנדם שלהם (שפחתכם הנאמנה).

הסדרה, בעלילתה נשמעת נורא פטתית ולא מזהירה במיוחד  - בעולם שוחר מלחמות, מתאגדת קבוצת טרוריסטים המונה: כורדי בעל עבר מפוקפק (סטסונה פ. סייהי), אדם שסובל מפיצול אישיות / סכיזופרניה (הללויה / אללויע הבישי 111 האפטיזם), לוקון סטראטוס – טיפוס סקסי שאין לאף אחד מושג למה הוא הגיע לסדרה (אל תדאגו, בגלל שהוא לא עומד בקריטריוניים ‘הטרגדיים’ הוא מת בסוף העונה הראשונה ומחליף אותו אחיו התאום בעונה השניה. ש~הפתעה? קופי הוא. והם גם ישמשו באותו כינוי ‘_’), והומו נשי נורא שמנהל רבע-רומן (תנו לפנגירל לפנטז) מוסתר עם מערכת בקרת המידע שלו Veda (טיאריה ארדה). האמצעים העומדים ברשותם יותר ממוחשבים ממה שאתם חושבים, וכל טרוריסט קטן מצוייד לו בגנדם מחמד (הכי סקסי מביניהם – של סטסונה, Exia. אקשיה3>). מצויידים בגנדמים, הטרוריסטים הקטנים מראים לנו טרגדיה מה היא, ומציגים בפנינו את הגורל האכזר של הכורדים והעולם כולו, בעולם טרגדי שוחר מלחמות שמעולם לא ידע מציאות אחרת מלבד טרגדיות, הרס וחורבן.

אז אם נשים רגע בצד את הצחוק וההומור, הסדרה, שנשמעת בעלילתה מאוד פיקציונאלית ומצוצה מהאצבע מצליחה לשמר נתיב ברור של סדרה מאוד הגיונית, הומאנית ואנושית. מעטות האנימות שמציגות את הגיבורים הראשיים כ’רעים’ (ארגון טרור) ולא מושי-מושלמים בעלי כוחות על ששואפים לצדק המוחלט והברור ויכולים להציל את העולם (אנד שיט סטאף לייק ‘האפי אנדינג’). הדקויות בין ‘טוב’ ל’רע’ לא מובהרות, ולא אחת מוצגות דילמות מוסריות שאין להן תשובה חד משמעית. היוצרים לא בוחלים באף דמות ויכולים להביא למותה של כל דמות אם הדבר יתבקש, מה שגורם לסדרה לרתק כל הזמן ולפנות לנתיב עלילתי לא צפוי ומתפתח עם הזמן. כל דמות משרתת מטרה חשובה ותורמת לפיתוח העלילה, כל פרט עלילתי קטן מתוכנן עד הסוף. גנדם בכללה אינה דומה לשום אנימה סטריאוטיפית העולה ברוחכם, ובזה היא נבדלת מהשאר. יש בה משהו הרבה מעבר לכורדים וגנדמים.

לעיצוב הדמויות המצויין, לפירוט הטכני הלא-רע ולעלילה החביבה, מצטרפים OST מצויין (שזכה להצלחה רבה), בתוכו מנגינות רקע שמתאימות עצמן לקרבות, רגעי דרמה ומתח, ואיך לא נשכח – לכל עונה הוצמדו פתיחים וסיומות מדהימים, שזכו להצלחה מסחררת גם כשירים בפני עצמם וגם כסינגלים המייצגים של גנדם. השירים זכו להצלחה רבה, והזמרים אינם היו חדשים לאוזן של האוטאקו הישראלי וזכו להצלחה מסחררת עם כל סינגל וסינגל שלהם - הלהקות: The Brilliant Green (להקה הכוללת את הסולנית טומוקו קוואסה, שמתמחה בקריירת סולו משלה) עם Ash Like Snow, הלהקה L’Ark~en~ciel עם Daybreak’s Bell, הלהקה UVERWorld עם Hakanaku mo Towa no Kanashi , והזמרות בעלי קריירת הסולו המפותחת – Ichaki Ishikawa עם ‘Prototype’ (הסינגל על שמו קרוי הבלוג) ו-The Back Horn עם ‘WANA’. כל אחד מהשירים הנ”ל מעוררי מחשבה מבחינתי, מרגשים, מתאימים לסדרה ככפפה ליד ומסגנונות מוזיקה שונים שפונים לכל אחד. כל שיר תפס מקום של כבוד בפלייליסט שלי, וכל השירים הנ”ל הינם חלק מששת השירים האהובים עליי באמת.

אך בין כל הרצינות, הטרגדיה והעלילה הכבדה, פרטים קטנים ומגוחכים מעיבים על החוויה. שמות הדמויות מעוררי גיחוך לא פעם - לסטסונה הוצמד שם מקורי כורדי – Ibrahin Souran, למרינה ישמאעיל (קריא: מרינה ישמעאל, דמות שתהווה יורשת עצר של העולם הכורדי ההרוס של סטסונה ותנהל בהמשך רומן-לא רומן איתו ותתרום לדיוני/זיוני המוח על השקפות העולם של חלק מהדמויות הראשיות) יש שם שהוא שילוב בין עולה חדשה לערביה, ושאר הדמויות מצלצלות נורא ישראלי/אמריקאי משום מה- לואיס הלוי וסאג’י קרוסרוד (Crossroad) נמנים עם דמויות אלו. אך לדמויות מתרגלים מאוד מהר, והם מהווים פרט שולי שלא פוגם בהנאה או שובר את גדר הקרח החוצצת בין בדיחה לטרגדיה (מה שלדעתי – כאוס;הד עושה יופי).

גנדם ללא ספק כבשה את ליבם של האוטאקואים (והפנגירלז) בארץ, ולא נתקלו בכנס אחד ללא אזכור במישרין או בעקיפין על גנדם -  החל מהרצאה בגאאקון (ששפחתכם הנאמנה התלהבה ממנה מאוד ונכחה בה עם המון אנשים <: )רובוט קרטון ענק שהסתובב ברחבי תל אביב וכנסים גדולים כמו אייקון ועולמות והקרנות למותג בכנסים רבים וכלה במקומות נכבדים בתחרויות הקוספליי.

נ.ב – בכוונה אין פה כמעט אזכורים לעונה השניה, משום שלטעמי היא מעט “אוברייטד”, ולא ממשה את מיטב הפוטנציאל שלה. נחפור על זה בזמן אחר.
