In the midst of all the drama of last week, it really didin’t quite register that I actually booked a modeling job. It’s print for a clothing store and by all accounts, it will be a piece of cake. I also had a fitting last Wednesday and that went really smoothly so yay! It’s so funny how sometimes I can get so fixated on the fact that I am not booking anything that I forget to jump for joy when I do get something…I’m working on that:-) To celebrate, here’s one of my favorite jams…

My Precious Model Casting

My Precious had begun recruiting models for a new model group. The group will put on fashion shows for My Precious and Entre Mares Designs and is fully supported by Alienbear’s Design.

1. Qualifications: Models must be experienced–training is an asset. Models must be fun-loving, polite, responsible, able to follow directions, and committed. Finally, models must be willing to modify their shapes to fit particular styles.

2. Show times: Shows are generally held Saturday evenings from 4-6 p.m. SLT. Runway practices are mandatory and times will be decided by the Model Manager.

3. How to join as a My Precious Model (MP Model):

(a) Either join as a member of the in-world group (takes a group space) or as a Subscribe-o-matic group (does not take a group space).
(b) Submit a folder named “Model Search + Your Full Name” with three pictures (512 X 512) with full permissions.
- Picture 1: Close-up.
- Picture 2: Full-body shot of model in any gown from My Precious.
- Picture 3: Full-body shot in any My Precious cocktail dress OR My Precious casual item.
(c) Send the folder to Agnes Finney. (Make sure the photos are set with full permissions before submitting the folder).
(d) Entrants will be added to “My Precious Contest Group” for announcements, therefore a group space needs to be available. However, after the event is over, the group may be deleted.
(e) A notecard about casting will be sent after a folder is received. It is imperative that models respond to the notecard about times available.

4. Casting: Appearance at a casting is vital, so different time slots will be available. Models should select gowns for the castings that will show their shapes and how they style My Precious or Entre Mares outfits. Models will be expected to do the catwalk with well-selected poses. Details will be given on a separate notecard.

5. Contact: Questions should be directed to Agnes Finney on a notecard that has been renamed. All notecards that have the name “New Note” will be discarded without opening.

MODEL CASTING! BEEN A LONG TIME...

I had a model casting today for some kind of pharmaceutical medicine. It was okay once I got there after having gotten a little lost. The casting director was really nice and he kept saying how much he loved my “face”. Turns out, he actually cast me in a short film about two years ago with director Wim Wenders (in a film called, “Person To Person”) and I remember him being sooooo nice to me:-) You usually remember when a casting person is nice to you as it rarely happens. They are generally pleasant enough (with a few exceptions), but rarely does one really show such kindness.

So even if I don’t get the job, I’m okay with it as the “experience” was so pleasant. In celebration, I wanted to post one of my favorite Michael Jackson songs, “Human Nature“. I still remember the yellow vest that Michael wore on the record sleeve (it’s actually at the beginning of the video montage but it doesn’t look yellow)…

Today was another hectic and HOT day – damn LA for this heat! I had a “Fit” casting this morning and it was pleasant enough but because it was hotter than a pot of grits, I was sweating bullets the whole time they were taking my measurements.

The potential client was pleasant enough but I always feel so inadequate on ANY casting, especially when your “real” measurements are being “scrutinized”…Honestly, I usually feel too “small” as I’m not as “voluptuous” as most plus-size models…truth be told, my ass used to be a “straight” model who just got tired of not eating so beefed up a little when at a shoot for “Essence Magazine“, the photographer referred me to FORD Models as he thought I should be with a “top” agency – they thought I was too small and not experienced enough in the “plus” market…

So off I went to do a test and went into Wilhelmina on an open casting and they signed me on the spot after having turned me down as a “straight-sized” model more than any other agency so go figure…

Anyway, besides the slight accent barrier (I think the client employs alot of Chinese staff), I think things look good as they wanted someone “smaller” as this is for the “juniorplus” line….we’ll see but you never know with these things…

To cheer me up, I looked up one of my favorite movie scenes…Ace Ventura! I LOVE Jim Carrey I spent 20 minutes trying to embed the video but I’m too tired to keep trying it so please click on link to see the video…
