After many weeks of classes leading up to State Board exams, I can announce here that I have been re-licensed in Cosmetology. The funny thing about this is what I have discovered about the Cosmetology trade as it relates to salons and spas these days. Even the education is interesting. Today’s standard for the school I attended is the very same I introduced to the south in the 70’s. Now in retrospect to view this and to see it’s relevance to today’s stylists, it’s exciting to watch how it has changed so much of the industry. New product, methods, salon….to start off with. Well the texturing slowed down due to the thanksgiving holiday.  But, I’m nearly done with the first pass.  Here’s a quick image.

I mentioned this as a first pass because I’m gonna go back and add some dirt and scratches.  This is more of a materials pass than anything.  Anyway, I hope you liked it.

I actually really like Raquel Gibson, Miss November 2005. She seems to be a fun, family-oriented girl, but also a serious multitasker with plans for taking on even more, so it resulted in a surprisingly entertaining Playboy interview.

Yes! Finally! Someone agrees with me. What the hell is the matter with you people who are all in to sharks? I believe I have the most logical phobia on the planet in my fear of sharks. I acknowledge it’s a little nuts to open my eyes in the shower every 30 seconds to check and make sure none have swum up the drain and are preparing to sink their zillion rows of teeth in to my foot, but still!

If you cannot at least muster enough care for your life not to place it in peril by descending in to the depths of the ocean (which is another planet to begin with; you cannot even breathe through your mouth under there and live), then show some fear and respect of God and his creations, both yourself and the shark. Just ugh all around and a heartfelt shudder to boot.

Raquel did not end up pursuing her degree in pediatrics, remaining busy in the spokesmodel and entertainment worlds instead. She often models these days with her older sister C.J. (one of her five siblings, of which she is the baby). They bill themselves as the Gibson Sisters.

TFP = Trade for Prints, a handy piece of largely-chicanerous-publicity practice in which neither party — photographer nor model — gets any money out of the transaction; it’s purely to boost notoriety for both and is generally a very bum deal for the model, as the photog pads his portfolio and can use the pics forever in gallery shows, etc, while the model just has one more nudie photoshoot out of probably a dozen jammed in her little notebook. It’s a move that a lot of amateurs fall for; glad to see she is too wise to go for it!

Pernah lihat film animasi macam Transformer? Kebayang nggak gimana cara buat film itu? Atau jangan-jangan pada ngira dalamnya si Optimus Prime tu ada orang yang misuh-misuh gara-gara dijailin mulu sama Megatron yak?

Film robot-robot keren nan mulus(Bukan Megan Fox maksudnya) itu dibuat dengan sistem yang komplek banget. Karena kekomplekannya itu, film transformer ini konon katanya ngabisin budget sekitar 200.000.000 USD. Cukup dengan meliat nolnya aja, udah bisa buat kita ngiler sungai brantas.

Budget 200 juta USD itu wajar lho. CGI itu biayanya memang sangat mahal karena hitungannya itu detik. Dapet bocoran nih ya, biaya pembuatan efek kusus dengan CGI itu per detiknya bisa mencapai 100 USD(baca:Ujan duit kaya di Mario Bross)

Oke, uda cukup iming-imingnya. Sekarang to the point. Salah satu dari sistem pembuatan film CGI tersebut adalah Animation Modeling. Animation modeling itu merupakan tahap dimana pembuatan tiap-tiap elemen yang ditampilkan dalam film animasi tersebut. Untuk membuat tiap elemen dari film animasi dibutuhkan sketsa awal yang biasanya sudah dibuat oleh tim kreatif desain karakter. Setelah mendapatkan coret-coretan sketsa, maka baru tugas seorang animator yang membuat karakternya dengan menggunakan rendering engine.

Software yang dipakai untuk penerapan CGI antara lain 3ds Max, Poser, Blender, Light Wafe 3D, Maya, dan Autodesk Softimage. Tools ini merupakan anugrah terindah yang didapat oleh para animator. Sebab dengan aplikasi ini, kita bisa membuat animasi-animasi wahid macam transformer.

Nggak punya duit buat beli software asli? Tenang aja, banyak kok yang gratisan sob. Salah satunya adalah Blender. Weits, bukan yang buat ngejus itu loh. Blender ini aplikasi rendering engine yang udah malang-melingtang didunia animation modeling. Tools ini sangat ampuh dan memiliki banyak fitur untuk dicicipi. Tentu saja yang paling penting tetep gratisannya,hehe. Sok didownload blendernya di:

I came up here to help out my family a couple weeks ago now, and will be up here, maybe permanently….
I’m staying in the West Shore area, near Harrisburg, but of course, I am always willing to travel!

I shot mini-boudoir sessions at Sly’s Lingerie today. It was a great success! I even squeezed in a maternity shot or two.

Today is “black Friday” and it appears to affect both rl and SL.  There are numerous sales in SL, just as there are in rl.  I don’t do shopping on this day and pity anyone who does.  Perhaps there are good deals, perhaps they are good enough to be worth fighting the crowds over for some.  For me, I’ll shop from the web, thank you.

Modeling is going to have a laid back few days.  The only show I had coming up was the Miss Refined International finalist determination on Saturday.  In light of recent events, or lack thereof, I am not sure there will be a competition anymore at all.

Therefore, I will probably take today off to continue with my rest and relaxation that I began on the holiday.  It’s nice to have a bit of a break.

 
What is the next step after the child has a portfolio of photographs? Now it is time to contact a modeling agency.
