even uitleg  : ik heb de naam van de persoon die mij heeft gemaild bewust weggelaten omdat er op het internet véél wacko’s zijn en ook om te vermijden dat ze opeens allerlei aanvragen krijgt van mensen die ook graag in de F&F willen. Indien je vragen hebt mag je ze bij reacties zetten en ik beantwoord ze graag persoonlijk ! Maar , voor je de redactie plat mailt omdat jij dat ook wilt , onthoud vooral dat de mensen liever zelf kiezen wie ze willen publiceren …

In spite of finding myself being rather busy with school and work i took on a little side project a few months back for a motion picture being made by a former classmate. I will be responsible for modeling, texturing, rigging, and animating a cockroach that i have named “Skippy” Skippy the cockroach. Skippy has to die unfortunately but on the bright side his various incarnations show up throughout the film. I would also like to point out that my reason for being pretty vague about the story is because i don’t want get sued not that i’ve signed a contract or anything i just want to pretend if only for a moment…

The sculpting process is more or less done with the exception of a few piece like the antenna’s and weird anal feeler thingy’s that creep me the hell out. Next i’ll have to retopologize the zbrush mesh with my new favourite program Topogun! did i mention that i love it? Hell i even bought it with legal tender no less!

   Today I had 3 show rehearsals. I am in 3 shows this Saturday I went from 1 rehearsal to the next and then managed to find some time to do my live modelling at JCNY and take some pictures for my entry for this week. I also did some live modelling at HOB and attended the awards ceremony. Whew. That’s a lot of modelling. I loved every minute of it. Rehearsals are fun to me. Learning a new routine on a new runway is fun. Even if it isn’t a new routing or runway it is still fun because I love runway modelling. Saturday is going to be crazy with 3 shows but it will be so much fun.

If you’re fed up of seeing the same logos and slogans on t-shirts and want something more personal, you’ll love the concept of the I Love Boxie t-shirts.

I Love Boxie, a London-based t-shirt design company, rebels against using clothing as a way of advertising brands. Instead they want the clothing to represent the wearer themselves. You could say they are providing a way to advertise yourself.

They make T Spoke (bespoke) t-shirts for which you can email them a story from your life and from that one line will be taken and printed onto the t-shirt. It really could be anything. The result: a t-shirt that actually means something.

The founder of the company is a writer called Moxie. She says “Everyone has a story, and everyone should have it put on a t-shirt. You look at a person and judge them in two seconds, the t-shirt says, ‘there’s more to me than what I’m wearing’.” She understands that in its own way the company is acting a bit like a self-help group. She’s also planning to make a film featuring the stories of some of the t-shirt’s creators.

I think they’re great, what better way to express your happiness, sadness or anger than having it printed across your chest! They’re pretty affordable, £32 or $43 (and this is coming from me, someone who refuses to pay more than a tenner for a t-shirt).

Now I just have to think of my story…

Here’s a few more shots from the chicachick shoot I did in Brighton. Looks like one or two of them will be in a feature in the local newspaper, The Argus. Result!

I wanted to use the newly restored bandstand on Brighton’s seafront for two reasons; I knew it would be clear of visitors due to the weather; and because it would keep us dry! It’s been restored to its apparent former glory and whoever did it did a great job.
The tiling on the floor converges to a metal plaque at the centre and this was where Katie would stand. Again, Joe held a Speedlite up high to make sure Katie was well lit, then we placed another, snooted, Speedlite on a stand, that would pick out the handbag.
Katie changed in the wind into a white dress, which contrasted well with the broody sky, and off we went.

Throughout the shoot I’d use two primes; a lovely Sigma 30mm F1.4 and my trusty Canon 85mm F1.8. But I always carry my mega-wide-angled Sigma 12-24mm aspherical. This thing is almost fisheye at 12mm, but you have to use it carefully, lest you want your subjects to end up with distorted heads.
So I wanted to use my wide angle. I already knew I wanted Katie standing on a wall, so I decided to get down low, below her, and have the bag closest to my lens. Even when I was less than 2ft away from the bag, I could still see the whole of Katie in my field of view. Lovely.
The wind provided the rest. Her hair was nicely blown out of her face, and the bag was waving in the wind. Joe lit her from high, while the other Speedlite added a little fill from camera left.

I can’t believe that it is 6 weeks since I last posted on the blog.  In that time we have had a trip to San Diego which just was not long enough and had John’s parents out to visit too.  This Thursday is Thanksgiving and John gets a long weekend off work (Thursday – Sunday off).

So what has happened during the course of the month.  We had a wonderful trip to San Diego where we stayed in the Grand Pacific Palisades Hotel and Resort and Carlsbad (http://www.grandpacificpalisades.com/).  They actually bumped us across to their sister resort which is timeshare only called the Marbrisa (http://www.marbrisaresort.com/index.aspx).  We had booked ourselves a 2 bedroom villa and ended up with a studio apartment attached to a one bedroom apartment so plenty of room.  The Marbrisa also shared a back entrance to Legoland with the Sheraton which meant we could walk from our room into Legoland California (http://www.legoland.com/california.htm)  We had a wonderful day exploring Legoland arriving just after they opened and leaving as they closed.  We drove across to San Diego on the Sunday having booked the dogs into the Raintree Pet Resort (http://www.raintreepetresort.com/).  We visited Legoland on Monday; explored downtown San Diego, Seaport Village (http://www.seaportvillage.com/) and also went on the ferry from Coronado Island across the bay and back with Kirsten on Tuesday.  Wednesday we spent the day at Seaworld (http://www.seaworld.com/sandiego/) and then on Thursday we explored the local vicinity which meant Carlsbad itself and it’s beaches and also the Outlets (http://www.premiumoutlets.com/outlets/outlet.asp?id=66).  We will definitely be going back to San Diego in 2010 but maybe at the start of summer rather than the end this time.

John’s parents arrived a week after we returned and left last Monday.  Hopefully they enjoyed their trip even if they went home a little exhausted.  During the visit I (Sigrid) participated in my first 10k together with my neighbours/friends, Nicole and Amy.  I set myself a target of completing in 90 minutes but actually finished in just under 83 so was really pleased with myself.  Nicole and Amy both finished a few minutes ahead of me (http://www.zazoosh.com/photos/249142443).  The 10k was part of my training for the half marathon in January, but the last 2 weeks I’ve not been so good at keeping up the running.  I got back to it today, but took it gently only running about 2.3 miles.

We also now have Kirsten’s headshots from the modelling agency and her picture has also been posted online on their website (http://www.theyoungagency.com/models/babies/displayProfile.php?idl=W&idf=Kirsten).  We have been given about 50 copies of the picture to use at auditions etc and I also need to pull together a stat sheet for her to be attached to the pictures.

I know this doesn’t bring you fully up-to-date, but at least it gives you a little more information as to what has been going on.

I am working with a company where the Head of Sales continually stressed the need to complete 10 face to face sales presentations per week, because this is what worked for her.

On investigation, the highest performing sales person in the team did, on average, 5 face to face meetings per month.

Another of his sales colleagues did the obligatory 10 meetings per week and still struggled to hit target.

Why?

There is a whole sales mix that needs to be looked at here, but time and time again in this situation I am forced to look at two key elements – the people and the process.

Processes can either complement or hinder the sales process, and a sales process that works brilliantly for one sales person could present a real hurdle for performance to another.

I love getting to know the sales people as individuals, establishing their motivations and their stresses, helping them become better people, better sales people, working with them to achieve their ambitions and ultimately smash targets. Everyone is in ‘achieving mode’ and that’s addictive and contagious.

Psychometric testing is never my first investigative tool but it rates highly in my sales tool box, simply for the speed and quality of information it can yield.

This information can helps to identify where the sales team are benefiting from the current methodology, and more specifically who is benefiting from it and who is finding it impacting negatively on their ability to sell.

If you have ever wondered why, despite following the same methodology, some of your sales team are performing better than others; then psychometric profiling may give you some very useful information.

According to Wikipedia, Psychometrics is the field of study concerned with the theory and technique of educational and psychological measurement, which includes the measurement of knowledge, abilities, attitudes, and personality traits.

Your company sales processes and methodologies have probably been adopted and used because they work adequately most of the time for the bulk of the sales team i.e. the business gets what it needs at the end of the month.

That’s not to be sneezed at. However, when you are looking for improvements you have a choice.

Not every person in your sales team will adopt and adapt to the sales process in the same way. Some will see it as the only way to do business and others will see a hundred things they would do differently if they had the choice.

When looking at the whole sales mix, the question is what is likely to bring you improved sales performance?

1. 1 thing that gives you 100% increase in sales performance? or,
2. 100 things that give you a 1% increase in performance each?

Ok, so there is a whole sales continuum in between the two extremes, but I’m sure you get my point.

Process and People are the starting points, pricing, pipeline, profit are others and the list could go on – reward structure, integrated sell, lead generation….. These are all areas to be investigated and reviewed.

When you are thinking about what increase you are looking for in Sales Performance in 2010, remember it’s ok just to rev the sales machine harder, you may just get a bit more of the same, alternatively if you are looking for a fresh insight into getting the results you want, just let us know what your challenges are and we will happily share our expertise with you in a free initial consultation.

I just got back home from the casting. It went very well, all there is to do now is to wait. We’re 7 girls applying to the same job so I can just hope they’ll like me the most!

Lena Grove stole hearts left and right, and just like last time, I had a couple folks tell me later they’re either in love with her, or are still in love from the last time.  On a side but related note, because Windows can’t make an operating system that can’t run for 5 minutes without crashing, I’ve been working on this blog post for three days, and, well, there’s a lot worse things in the world I could have been looking at that than a photo blog of last session.  Alexis is in Phoenix at the moment doing whatever people do in Phoenix, grilling armadillos and whatnot, so it’s up to me write this post with little to no adult supervision.  This means, 1) there’ll be more typos than usual and 2) someone somewhere will probably be offended shortly.

Anyway, let’s get this going.

Lots of sketches got sent in this time around.  This first one is from Michelle Murphy…

Our first contest was the opposite hand contest, where “if you’re right-handed, you draw with your left, and if you’re left-handed you draw with your right, and if you’re ambidextrous pretend you’re not so you don’t make anyone cry.”  Russell made up some mystery shots for the two winners; he actually messed up the first set and made us drink the horrible concoction . . . don’t ever say Team Sketchy isn’t willing to take one for the team.  If you thought we were a little more tipsy than normal by the end of things, you were probably right.

Near as I can tell, no one sent any opposite-hand drawings in from that contest, unless they were cheating, which I doubt, since the crowd looked to be a good, wholesome sort.

That last photo MIGHT be the judging of the opposite-hand drawing contest.  Hard to tell though.

This next sketch is from Steve Peters, he and Andrea Grigoropol (you’ll see her stuff in a minute) drove all the way down from Philly just to see Dr. Sketchy’s Baltimore.  I can not tell you how much that tickles us.  Unless they’re spies from the Philly Dr. Sketchy’s.  Advance scouts for some sort of Dr. Sketchy’s gang turf war if you will.  If that’s the case, if they’re making a move on our corner, well, we ain’t scared of Nicola Black’s posse.  Just in case though, if some of you could pack your heat for the next couple sessions, we should be alright.

That’s a joke.

It just occurred to me this IS Baltimore, somebody might take me seriously.

The first contest was a special request from Lena – she wanted the best interpretation of her as a zombie, the winner getting 1000 Pinup Girls by Harald Hellmann, Charles Martignete, Louis Meisel from Atomic Books.

A whole bunch of folks gave her their drawings at the end of the night, which we were lucky enough to get a chance to scan.  Unfortunately, that means we don’t have the names of the artists.  If you see your sketch, email us, and we’ll be happy to tack your name under it.  On the off chance two people claim a drawing, the two can come to the next Dr. Sketchy’s (this Monday with Sugar Ann Spice!) and settle it with a rousing bout of fisticuffs during a break.

ANYWAY, these first two are from that stack.

The next contest was the random noun contest where folks in the crowd shout out a random . . . well, noun.  Obviously some drinks had started to make themselves known since we somehow ended up with “Mexican wrestling badgers”.  No, I don’t know either.  I don’t even know what a badger looks like.  I can’t even imagine trying to draw one with a Mexican wrestling mask on.  The crowd definitely had my sympathies, though they did bring it on themselves I suppose.  The prize was Miss Mindy’s Sassy Paper Doll Bonanza by Miss Mindy from Baby Tattoo Books.

This first one is Andrea Grigoropol again, at least I think it is.  It has AG on it and was in Lena’s stack.

 Today I competed in a modelling competition and it went really well. No lag helped a lot. All of my clothes changed which is always a plus lol. When I first arrived there I was worried because my avatar was gliding down the runway. Other people saw me as walking but it was bothering me. It took several minutes before I could see myself as walking. I didn’t think gliding down the runway is a good look. Sort of a possessed model look and not what I was going for. lol Some people hate competing, but I love it. I spend hours working on my outfits and styling as well as picking just the right poses for each outfit. In this particular competition we wore 3 outfits. I chose 2 gowns and a short lace dress. All classy and refined looks. That’s just my style. I will always choose a great gown or dress if I can choose what I want to wear to compete. My everyday style is the same. I like to dress up and look nice at all times. Once in a while I will wear a pair of jeans, but I still make sure I have on great accessories and hair. I never leave my avatar’s  house unless I have checked every detail of my outfit down to fingernails and toenails. You never know who you will run into and as the saying goes you never get a second chance to make a first impression. So make it a good 1!!
