<p>Most of you have probably come across the great designs of Weeks Ringle and Bill Kerr of <a href="http://modernquiltstudio.com/" target="_blank">Modern Quilt Studio</a>, formerly Fun Quilts.  They have three awesome books to their credit:</p>
<p><a href="http://pearliesgirl.files.wordpress.com/2012/05/modern-quilt-workshop.jpg"><img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-542" title="modern quilt workshop" src="http://pearliesgirl.files.wordpress.com/2012/05/modern-quilt-workshop.jpg?w=197&#038;h=255" alt="" width="197" height="255" /></a>        <a href="http://pearliesgirl.files.wordpress.com/2012/05/quilts-made-modern1.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-548" title="quilts made modern" src="http://pearliesgirl.files.wordpress.com/2012/05/quilts-made-modern1.jpg?w=225&#038;h=225" alt="" width="225" height="225" /></a><a href="http://pearliesgirl.files.wordpress.com/2012/05/transparency-quilts.jpg"><img class="alignright size-full wp-image-541" title="transparency quilts" src="http://pearliesgirl.files.wordpress.com/2012/05/transparency-quilts.jpg?w=201&#038;h=251" alt="" width="201" height="251" /></a></p>
<p>What you may not know, is the husband/wife design team have a new magazine called <em>Modern Quilts Illustrated.</em>  The third issue will be out in July.  What makes this publication unique is that it doesn&#8217;t accept advertising, so what you get is three amazing patterns, plus extras each issue.  I was able to snag a copy of the first issue and I now have two of the three designs on my to-do list.</p>
<p>Directions are easy to follow and include many illustrations, which is a must for me.  Different colorways are also shown.</p>
<p><a href="http://pearliesgirl.files.wordpress.com/2012/05/mqi-stacks.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-538" title="mqi stacks" src="http://pearliesgirl.files.wordpress.com/2012/05/mqi-stacks.jpg?w=300&#038;h=190" alt="" width="300" height="190" /></a></p>
<p>One of the most interesting pages is what they call <em>Palette Chasing, </em> &#8220;designed to encourage the exploration and discovery of inspiring color combinations.&#8221;  This issue featured the palette inside the Library of Congress. While similar in context to the Design Seeds site, I really like the historical link this offers.</p>
<p><a href="http://pearliesgirl.files.wordpress.com/2012/05/palette-crossing.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-546" title="palette crossing" src="http://pearliesgirl.files.wordpress.com/2012/05/palette-crossing.jpg?w=300&#038;h=190" alt="" width="300" height="190" /></a></p>
<p>&#160;</p>
<p>Call (708) 445-1817 to  order back issues for $15 each or a year&#8217;s subscription of three issues for $30.  Also check out Weeks&#8217;s blog, Craft Nectar, <a href="http://www.craftnectar.com." target="_blank">here.</a>  You won&#8217;t be sorry you did.</p>
